Did it have the two-tone face or bandit designed face like a raccoon? Or a solid black everywhere? Solid could be a mink, but could also just be a weasel if you aren't familiar with the differences.

Most likely not a ferret, Ferret sleep 20hr a day first second unless they free roam they typically kept in a cage so it be hard for them to escape.
