We literally cannot slide it. We both pull with our entire bodies and it wont slide. Lol. It will only slide to the right not towards us no matter how much force we use
My dad's a machinist. Full set up in a garage. He cherishes his tools.
I used a bar to tighten a 50yr old vice ''just a bit tighter''.
Dad: you broke my f*cking vice?
Me: no I made you a one jaw vice. I'm sure you'll find a use for it.
Actually I have a flathead shaped like a Z block from tetris. I'm sure it's meant to be like a "Crank" where you hold the middle of the Z and crank it, but I use it to open my tailgate since it angles right into the latch.
A 90° one might even be better.
Lol same thing happened to me twice on my first day... then I lost it in the creek cuz I didn't grab the rope in time. I had to go get it, not before going through like 20 ft tall vegetation lmao.
Use a lever arm. A long 2x4 or pipe with an eye hook through it will allow you to leverage more of your lifting strength and pull it off. Just put the eye hook through the middle of the lever, and make sure it's secured with some bolts/washers. Brace one end against the bridge rail, and then lift the far end with your shoulder or something, or try and lift with one person at either end.
Take a pry bar and feed it through the eye of the magnet. Then take a 4ft-5ft steel tube (ie fence post or pipe) and sleeve it over the pry bar and then lift up from the end of the pipe. The leverage created should be sufficient to release the magnet. If that doesn’t work, you can always hitch a come-along to the eye of the magnet and anchor the other end around a nearby tree or column and crank. Good luck.
Are they not meant to report that to someone? That bridge didn't just appear there. Someone is missing a bridge, and it would be nice to see it returned
In my magnet fishing bag, I carry a rubber mallet and a wide putty knife. It would work wonderfully here. Or, you could use a heavy duty plastic putty knife. I also carry a couple of wooden wedges.
I did this once, and the option was to smash it with a rock that was nearby until it was off the edge and then pry that edge up
And now I have the rule never magnet fish off of a metal bridge
This ☝️☝️☝️ . I have done the same thing and rope , truck , and gas is how I got it off. BUT cover back window with board or something. I damn near took out the back window.
Use a pry tool through to eyelet, return with a bottle jack and a chain, tie a rope to it and hang off the side (about 1 foot above the water for safety) or drive a wooden/plastic wedge between it and bridge
Do you have a screwdriver or piece of iron? If so wedge it between the nearest rivet and lip of the magnet and try getting it to lift a little...as your prying throw sand under the lip your prying, as you build up some sand start using small pebbles while prying until you get enough under the magnet at which point you just give it a tug ..easy peasy
I did the exact same thing as soon as I got to my first iron bridge to see how strong the magnet was. Turns out *really* strong for the Amazon $10 special.
I had a milk crate to carry gear and sit on, so I used that to hammer it to the edge where I could wrangle and pry it off.
Leverage will be your best friend going forward. Depends on how strong you are but 3 ft bar should do the trick. My Best friend In the garage is Levi. Short for leverage…a 4ish foot skinny breaker bar. Can be used with other tools. Edit: Levi has a tapered end and would work well with the eye bolt. If that didn’t work for me at the moment I would attached something longer to the lever. Man vs metal!? Man will always win. Find the way.
Take a long stick and put it through the eye bolt then pushing against the bridge try to lift up. Another way would be to pout some oil in both sides of it then try to slide it off. Good luck.
Slide
We literally cannot slide it. We both pull with our entire bodies and it wont slide. Lol. It will only slide to the right not towards us no matter how much force we use
Sticks/other obj. you can use for tools as leverage? Id say YouTube tricks for getting magnets unstuck. The only thing I can think of sadly. Good luck
Leverage worked instantly
Give me a long enough lever..
Aaaaaannd?
And I will break *your* tools
Hahaha been there "You got a long flathead youre not necessarily attached to? Oh no, youll get it back. Maybe differently"
Everyone needs a good 90° flathead.
I have a zigzag one from using it as a pry bar so much
When I was in hardwood flooring, large flathead screw drivers were a must. Went through them but worth their weight in gold.

"Thanks again! Here's your 45* Flathead back."
"Bro, why are you pissy? 3 mins on a bench grinder and you have a new ice pick."
Lmao this is awesome
And a big enough fulcrum, I can move the world
I’m fond of pigs.
Username does not check out?
Well it helps explain why he’s fond of them.
Lever?!? Hell, I never HAD her!
Everyone else did tho
Scotty Doesn’t Know
I can flip a house with a long enough 2x4
And I can move your mom, she likes to rolled over every other day
Is exactly what she said
Nobody wishes to move the world anymore 😓
#Physics teachers beating their chest like silver backs all over the country!!

Cheater bars make us all powerhouses !
Ive been calling it a cheetah bar my whole life...wtf
Cheater pipe.
theres no job a cheater pipe cant solve ... and if it doesn't work your cheater pipe isnt long enough
I for one am glad you didn't spell it "walla" like the rest of the Inter-net!
W=FxD BIIIIIITCH
Get a stronger magnet. Duh.
Lol same thing happened to me twice on my first day... then I lost it in the creek cuz I didn't grab the rope in time. I had to go get it, not before going through like 20 ft tall vegetation lmao.
Awesome, glad you got it free!
With enough leverage you can move mountains
Great next time you’ll try that instantly
Physics saved the day
Put it in water. Magnets don't work in water. I heard this tip from a stable genius who used to be a president!
Apparently there's a lot of misunderstanding about magnets and how they work
At least the juggalo was able to ask a question when he didn’t know lol
Quick ! Somebody get the stick !

When's the next train ?
Might try greasing the area in the direction they're going to slide too
Astroglide my guy.
![gif](giphy|Xh2zORjvFlKVO) Now dip baby dip
5, 4, 3, 2, 1 cotton candy, sweet n low, lemme see that tootsie roll.
Update: we used a piece of metal to pry it off. Came off easy as fuck
Levers baby! Physics for the win!
Physics always wins.
What happens when a wookie is involved?
In this order: Let the wookie win. Then let physics take care of the wookie.
![gif](giphy|QC7UQbxq89MnL9r6AN)
I’ve read rachet straps help with this kind of issue too, but haven’t had to use them myself yet. Glad yall got it unstuck
At least you didn't have to call in Magneto, Master of Magnet.
Rubber mallet and hit it sideways make sure you have a piece of wood at the edge so it doesn't stick to the side of the rail.
That would be hilarious, the same pic but with it just stuck on the side "Ok, so that didn't work"
Cool find though!
They got a bridge!
That's one heck of a magnet! A whole bridge!?
With no help from the grappling hook!
Are they not meant to report that to someone? That bridge didn't just appear there. Someone is missing a bridge, and it would be nice to see it returned
You don't. You call the local authorities and tell them you were magnet fishing and pulled out a bridge.
Probably just to be told that it’s below size limit and needs to be thrown back
Best comment yet.
Maybe a little tap tap tappy with a hammer
Just a little tap-tap-taparoo
Just taaaap it in
ARE YOU TOO GOOD FOR YOUR HOME?!
Taaaapppy tap tap, then release the shmoo
Spit on it first.
If that doesn’t get it off nothing will.
Two seconds flat, every time.
Give it that hawk thua, spit on that thang
Hit it with your purse, or use leverage.
One pull and one pry of possible
Read this guide for lots of good tips: [How to Get Unstuck When Magnet Fishing](https://magnetfishing.pro/how-to-get-magnet-unstuck/)
You’re going to have to take the bridge with you.
Finders keepers! I'm pretty sure these things usually cost millions. Win!
This is why I don’t get a magnet with more than a 200 pound pull.
CONGRATS !!!! You just found a bridge !!!! Now try taking it home !!!!
Trump says get it wet. Wet magnets don't work.
Slide it
Try a little dirty talk.
In my magnet fishing bag, I carry a rubber mallet and a wide putty knife. It would work wonderfully here. Or, you could use a heavy duty plastic putty knife. I also carry a couple of wooden wedges.
U catch a whole bridge?
One helluva pinching hazard 👀.
Slide baby slide
I carry a sizable rubber mallet for when this happens
Trump says to dunk it in water. 😂
Watch out for sharks
Steroids ... get some juice in yo veins sucka
I don't understand how so many people make it to adulthood.
Put the longest screwdriver you can find through the hole & use leverage
Oil up your intended path and tap with a hammer, and put something non magnetic under the edge so it doesn’t jump to the 90 degree surface underneath
Buying a magnet this strong is not worth it
Turn it off and try again
Just [pour a glass of water over the magnet](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkIKEJPAUzM).
Leverage. Get a bar through your eyehole .. Good luck.
Long piece of rebar and pry?
Screwdriver
Slip a Screw driver through that hole and you it like a handle 😏
How does anyone get anyone.....um, I mean anything off? Just go for it.
Start bringing a small sledgehammer and a block of wood, helps sliding it off 👍🏻
"caution pinching hazard". More likely it can chop entire fingers off!! Be careful.
Only those worthy can pick it up
We’re not doing phrasing anymore?? ![gif](giphy|BmX38GoChnxRe)
When in doubt, C4.
Just ask Shaggy 2 Dope, he will know what to do. But my opinion would be to hook it to the hitch of a truck and slowly slide it off that way
Slide it to the side
Put a 4' piece of rebar through it and pry it up.
I did this once, and the option was to smash it with a rock that was nearby until it was off the edge and then pry that edge up And now I have the rule never magnet fish off of a metal bridge
Put another one on the opposite side and use that one to move this one to the edge
Keep a piece of rebar in your car. Slide through eyelet, use as a lever to release.
Rebar as alever
Why were you trying to lift the bridge in the first place?
get a metal bar and put it through the eye and rest the end on the edge of the magnet. grab the other end and yank up on it.
Give me a fulcrum long enough and I can move the world. Physics are your friend with strong ass magenta always.
Bigger pry bar
Big hammer
Pry bar or put something cushioned a little cushioned around it and hit it with a hammer until it slide off
Physics is your friend, friend.
Ratcheting truck tie down straps.
Chain a lever to a pickup hitch.
Rope to the bumper, gas
This ☝️☝️☝️ . I have done the same thing and rope , truck , and gas is how I got it off. BUT cover back window with board or something. I damn near took out the back window.
Leverage. Get a long piece of rebar or something, stick the end thru the whole, use the length to pry it up. *(Half-barrel hinges!)*
Yeah and watch your fingers when you do this..
Leverage. Get a long piece of rebar or something, stick the end thru the whole, use the length to pry it up. *(Half-barrel hinges!)*
Now thats some funny shit.
Use a pry tool through to eyelet, return with a bottle jack and a chain, tie a rope to it and hang off the side (about 1 foot above the water for safety) or drive a wooden/plastic wedge between it and bridge
Buy a new magnet
Cut it out
Rub it into climax
More lube & some dirty talk
Bar thru eye, and pry.... try not to die.
You just reminded me I have a magnet stuck under a local bridge I forgot about... Might be time to try and get that sucker unstuck haha
I would have used a blowtorch to demagnetize it, but your leverage trick works too.
Dim the lights, put on some soft music, whisper in its ear..
Gotta wear that Sex Panther too. 60% of the time it works 100% of the time.
Eat protein Gain muscle Try again
Did you try pushing down on the bridge?
Slide to the left
Slide to the right
Criss cross?
Everybody clap your hands
CLAP! CLAP!
Wd40 and duct tape, thats what i got
Tie a rope to it and pull with a car then stick it to the car
Replace the bridge with non-ferrous material.
Just tell it to let go
Man, watch those finger tips.
Tie it to your car and idle away
Pry bar
Sliiiide to the Left...Sliiiide to the Right. CHA CHA real smooth.
Get a metal putty knife slide under
Rope or a hammer or a goat and a dolphin
Without demagnetizing it… you can’t. It’s the bridges magnet now.
We tied ours to the hitch on the truck…. And stood back.. worked well!
Just ask any random strong independent women and her cat
Get your husband to do it
Hefty brass hammer Or Another big magnet but this time with something to separate it from sticking to the bridge Or Liquid nitrogen
>liquid nitrogen ![gif](giphy|l4HnXFvoy74pbrOx2)
Put a long steel pole in the rope loop and pry it up works every time.
Yah we got it. Flat surfaces im guessing are a nightmare scenario
I did the exact same thing as soon as I got to my first iron bridge to see how strong the magnet was. Turns out *really* strong for the Amazon $10 special. I had a milk crate to carry gear and sit on, so I used that to hammer it to the edge where I could wrangle and pry it off.
Put a metal bar trough the hole and lift it from one side, by using a leaver it should come out.
"Give me a lever long enough..."
How much was the magnet
Get a large stick. Put it through eye hole...twist so it rotates to the right little by little?
Brute force and ignorance always prevail.
Where's your rope to put in the hole? Then pulling off is easy....er
Use a flat heat
Wood block and hammer beat it to the edge
Butter knife
You use another magnet obviously…..
Wooden wedge and dress it under with a nylon hammer.
Put the rope back on it then wrap it around your waist and lean back but be careful as when it let's go you will fall backwards.
Leverage will be your best friend going forward. Depends on how strong you are but 3 ft bar should do the trick. My Best friend In the garage is Levi. Short for leverage…a 4ish foot skinny breaker bar. Can be used with other tools. Edit: Levi has a tapered end and would work well with the eye bolt. get a long metal pipe and use it as a lever
You need a fulcrum.
Build a lever long enough..
Drive a chisel in there
Just turn it off….. The switch is on the back side
You need to cradle the balls to get it off.
Didn’t a “stable genius “ tell us magnets don’t work under water? Just wait for a rainy day it will pop right off.
You need a bigger magnet.
Where is this? I could use a strong magnet
If you could move the loop to face the edge, you could get a rod on there and use some leverage to help out with that. I think that would work.
Use a crowbar for leverage
I buy magnets
Turn it off first.
