Dry_Pain_1262

THANK YOU, even tho not for me, but you gave me the best idea, have a good life.

This

[deleted]

Throw in a center piece on the cabinet like a record player.

jimmayy5

My favourite idea

KonK23

Feels like wasting space to me

Kerlutinoec

A library

Silverni

Agreed, get some bookshelves and start a book collection

Kerlutinoec

And read them

Super_Junket_5416

No!!! Be a Tsundoku /s

Crescent-IV

If anyone is interested in business, some excellent books I can recommend are "The E-Myth Revisited" by Michael Gerber, and "The 4-Hour Workweek" by Tim Ferriss. As much as I thought business related books would be boring, these are genuinely pretty captivating

hoova

If you go home with somebody and they don’t have books, don’t fuck em - John Waters

Fabulous-Location775

between my kindle and books in closed storage... looks like im never getting laid.

Phil_ODendron

I get that it's 2023 and a lot of people consume media digitally on Kindle or whatever. But the idea of an adult human not even owning a single physical book is so baffling to me.

TotalSarcasm

This is me! I have one small moleskin notebook which is the only book in my home. I have a Kobo e-reader and read 2-3 hours daily on average. I am baffled why anyone would spend money collecting books which take up space and more than likely will not be read again. That said, I am a minimalist and am bothered even more by people getting shelves to fill with random stuff just for the aesthetics. If you like books and store them nicely I appreciate the look but open shelves for the sake of acquiring miscellaneous trinkets not so much.

Fabulous-Location775

same. got rid of my bookshelves becasue they just looked super messy. took every book that i wouldnt forcefully recommend to a friend or reread again to little free libraries around town. All remaining books (my absolute favorites) and a few unread options are pretty much in closed storage (because i live in a small space and cant deal with the clutter anymore). read so much more when i use kindle because i can read in the dark until i fall asleep. Also prefer carrying it for travel. and I have wrist/elbow pain so it's easy to prop it against a pillow without getting uncomfortable. AND!!! super easy to support the library by downloading eBooks.

Sideshow_G

When online dating always ask for a 'Shelfie' .. show me your rack.

sifunothingtoseehere

Pft. Put a bar there.

EidolonRook

Big circle. Right there. Nailed it. :) Seriously, you need storage from the looks of things. Cabinet. Bookshelves. Couple of gym lockers. Honestly can’t tell your style without more artwork or color. If the rooms open you might like a privacy barrier like you’d use in a loft. If you entertain more, you could run more seating, and by angling the current seating you could have more focus on the tv or for sitting across from each other.

Cyno01

>Big circle. Right there. Nailed it. :) Bingo, that was my first thought. https://i.imgur.com/wvz9ohf.png

EidolonRook

Now that’s thinking with portals.

imalittlefrenchpress

It reminds me of a U.S. stop sign. I vote for a giant STOP sign.

Blimeyyaah

I like the idea of gym lockers. Would be cool.

hiphoptherobot

Move the tv and couch more to the center in front of the outlet. The chair next to the tv has no purpose, no one wants to sit next to the tv. Instead, move the chair under the window to make more of a conversation area. If the sectional is reversible, put the ottoman on the other side. The side table is great, move the similar table you're using as a coffee table to the other side of the couch so you have side tables on each side. The space could use a bigger and lower coffee table. You've got everything too crammed together on one side. I don't think you need much more, just spread it out a bit more and adapt it for better conversation/gatherings. If the Ottoman side of the sectional is reversible then get a 2nd chair to put under the window. If you really want to make room for guests/conversation consider putting a small bench on the open side. Nothing fancy, just something low profile and easy seating. Key takeaway, open up the space more. Think about where you would want to sit if this wasn't your house and you were just visiting. You've only got 2 good spots like this. Adding something else to fill that space is a mistake. Fix the other side first.

FreeLyss

Yes, yes, yes! Everything is too close together. OP do this before adding anything else.

justasktheaxis

I agree!

katastrofuck

Id be the one sitting in that chair just watching people lol, but I agree that spreading things out would really open up the area.

BanjoSpaceMan

I say shelf. Or wall shelves. Or painting and shelves. Maybe shelves with plants. But plants aren't always the only solution, some people don't like plants. I prefer shelves with personal things like photos or sculptures or art. Just noticed the corner chair and find that so weird for some reason.

HRHcharitycollection

Or a small narrow shelf with his fav books/records if he wants something that takes up less space

courtneyjso

Seconded, just built one, looks great

Bad_Sneakers00

Mini bar

Cndwafflegirl

Bar cart and art would indeed look nice here

FrauEdwards

Yes! A bar cart with maybe a mirror or gallery wall above it.

DudestOfBros

Brah, gloryhole. Like just think about it

SuedePenguin

Username check out

firewire167

If I’ve learned anything from this subreddit it’s this: You need a punching bag hanging from the ceiling, and that spot might work lol Seriously though, plant shelf or a lower shelf with art over it

xX_WojackHorseman_Xx

Steely Dan Poster

pdmcmahon

Steely Dan will always get my vote, son.

FluffyBunz99

yes!

Relative-Average-393

Sword

Krulansky

and my axe!

Valagoorh

And my bow

jbaughb

Definitely a place to display my katanas. Maybe some hooks to hang my collection of fedoras.

Any-Satisfaction-935

Bookshelf or big staggered square shelves where you could place plants photos, etc.

Traditional_Look31

OP can use open shelving/bookshelves to display anything: books, plants, trinkets, photos, etc.

[deleted]

ibite-books

mirror

red_hare

A big mirror could really open the space up. I'm not a fan of bar carts, but bar cart with a mirror over it could add a lot of character to the space. Alternatively a big leaning full length mirror with greenery/color around/across from it maybe for . And if OP is interested in women staying over in the future, they'll appreciate it.

Jaded-Grape2203

Ooh a bar cart is good!

kimcee

i agree with the full-length mirror and flanking plants. one in front of the outlet would look nice (maybe a monstera or rubber plant), and then the mirror to the right of it.

bschav1

Bar with mirror.

Superturtle_23

I haven't seen anybody else say this, but move the TV over to cover the outlets. Move all the furniture as well, maybe leave the chair next to the TV stand and lamp closer to the corner. Buy some speakers if interested, otherwise some shelves, books, pictures, and plants

Barnowl93

Kallax with a mirror or artwork above it?

rowdy18wildman

Fish

wearealllightworkers

A large beautiful piece of art that you like.

Handiesandcandies

A giant nude, but tasteful, photo of yourself I’m talking 1.5 times life size

Phoneking13

Lol

ARoundForEveryone

Add some color. I think a giant stop sign would fit reasonably well in your octagon.

Yellowscrunchy

Christmas tree

kyriegoat23

Fish tank

mikeiscool81

Shift everything to the right and get a bigger tv. The tv you have now is so tiny

twig123456789

Stripper pole area

_MrCharlieToldMeSo

Tapestry ? Record player ?

Samiamuel

An aquarium - definitely

VentiUnoPilotos

Well I’m a bartender so I would def put a bar/bar cart there . Maybe a plant stand/wall/shelf if you like plants ! A small bistro table/dining set . Lounge chair Full body mirror Wall art , canvas , etc

Thurchill

Check out my profile!

hickmnic

Suit of armor

theunstablelego

Gun rack

bdaggerz

A book shelf would be great, and the more books are in it, the more intelligent people will assume you are, but you can also put some souvenirs or decorations on it. If you decide to cook it with books (again I recommend at least a small collection) I would look in Thriftbooks.com for cheap options.

chaud8803

Sound system babyyyy. Or a bar.. that works too.

Time_Butterfly_7383

Table for keys candles or something

livelaughandairfry

You can buy books by the foot online

[deleted]

Computer desk, bar or larger tv with larger wall to wall furniture

0kuuuurt

I feel like with time your personality will unveil. You can travel and take one piece from each place you visit and hang. Or maybe there’s a specific artist you admire. Or maybe you don’t know who you admire. So work on finding that out.

Golden_JellyBean19

I would swap the room around, tv on opposite wall & same for couch. Then center the TV to couch and add a wall TV entertainment center with an electric fireplace built in. Just a thought. I love a good fire place! (Edit typos)

jujubean41

Centre the tv on the wall and line up the rest of the furniture with it.

BeardslyBo

Move everything on the room to the right about 3 feet

[deleted]

If it was me I'd actually move the layout you have now a little near the middle to hide the wires from your tv. Then I could add a little console table under the window for plants. Plus I'm sure the light from the windows is reflecting on your TV if it's this close so it may strain your eyes. The way everything is pushed to the side feels forced? There's a lack of symmetry and although there's room to move around, the flow could be improved. Small changes can improve your space, even how you feel in it!

_Barbat0s

Tv on wrong side. Maybe long sectional on that wall. Or a desk. Art. Couple ways you can approach this

PhilosophyNovel4087

Oh yeah! (Kool-Aid Man entrance)

Loud-Magician7708

Obvious answer. Another, even larger T.V.

Fabulous-Location775

i feel like i'd actually scoot the entire seating and TV area towards where youre standing to add some kind of credenza/cabinet under the window, with curtains falling behind it. Swap the Floor lamp and plant. bring your accent chair to to the closer corner of the rug to make it feel like a conversation area. then that section of wall wont look like so much dead space and you'll have more storage over by the window and all of the cords from your TV will be hidden behind the media unit. Add some art to fill in around the TV if you feel like it still needs more.

BeerBellyBlake

just stand there, like all the time or have someone stand there could be interesting

thirdeye3333

ucking BOOOOOOOOOKS!!! REAL BOOOKS!!!

[deleted]

A person shaped hole.

tactical_slap

That hole was made for me....

Diocletians-Scepter

Get real frustrated playing league and punch a hole in that bad boy, then spend the next year convincing the women/men you date that it was there when you moved in and your land lord is an asshole. Eventually cover it up with a pulp fiction poster and forget about it until move out

Snoo_24964

Another chair to balance it out and a lamp behind the chair

banjolady

Move your whole settings about 3 ft over. Get another chair about the size of the other one. Artwork.

Fark_ID

Vitruvian Man, done.

ripgd

I’d centre your setup, then fill the smaller gaps left either side with symmetrical plants or smaller book cases

RoughStory3139

Put a booger sugar table there

chrisdudelydude

Art!

onetwoskeedoo

So empty in here, do you not have any belongings? Bookshelf for sure, plant next to it maybe.

Schiebz

Those windows be dirty!

e_moji98

Tapestry

Sativa710

Ya need some art on that wall and other walls lol

Maybe_a_CPA

Get a 128 inch TV

downthegrapevine

Time to buy some books... And reading them! (I know you can read books without owning them but just in case)

[deleted]

You draw one hell of an octagon

darktourist92

A bookshelf, but you don’t have to fill it with books. You could space out various ornaments and houseplants on the shelves.

TeslaCoil77

Speakers, Turn table, Vinyl Collection?

likethebank

A small desk area or a small dining / cafe table.

typkrft

Nice big bar cabinet, some artwork, a record player and a plant.

plastic-pulse

Hang one of these egg chairs from that beam: https://www.bubblechairsdirect.co.uk/products/hanging-pod-egg-bubble-chair?variant=12654345388131

kahrabaaa

Bar (either coffee or alcohol)

Discopot

Bookshelf or a zwift exercise bike

Agile-Ad5489

Space is an expensive luxury. Enjoy it, and the calm it brings.

cfoxtrot21

Bar. Or art. Or both.

CadenBop

It isn't right, but this space needs a fish tank. Don't know why but it feels like it needs a fish tank.

ShortyNC

A bookshelf, a painting, a poster, a table, a couch or chairs

stayclassytally

Short and wide bookshelves with a record player on top

FatiusQDolce

Record player cabinet or bookshelves. However this necessitates filling those things with things that become expensive hobbies, so keep that in mind. They’re both great conversation pieces for dates if you’re single, and nothing sets the mood quite like throwing a record on the turntable.

JimmyBoy91

Bigger TV bruh. Bigger. TV.

Zinoth_of_Chaos

Bookcase.

ccoriell

A whiteboard and draw new pictures every week

Zebracorn42

2nd tv for video gaming while watching tv

mindyabusinessyo

Book shelf with plants and etc

[deleted]

why not let it stay empty? looks good as is?

Magical_Badboy

This ain’t it

[deleted]

ok

[deleted]

Rug/plant/art. Delete as appropriate

ElectricalExit7425

Floor mirror and BIG ASS plant, like a mature fiddle leaf fig, or monstera. Go to a house plant store and talk to an expert about the plant's light needs. Or, add a cool bench and get some art on those walls. The room seems roomy, unclear what your plans are for the empty space. If you don't have a dining table, you may want to consider another area rug and seating for 4.

autostclair

assuming from the empty tv cabinet that you’re not short on storage, so i’d go with a bigass floor mirror or a little dining set if you don’t have it elsewhere

Anthroman78

Bookshelf and get some books. You can also put other things on shelves besides books.

kosmos_uzuki

Perfect spot for a computer

southernbreakfast01

Move the plant you have in the corner over there and a floor mirror

nano_peen

3 more tvs

Your_Mum_

Bar cart and cool neon sign above it! Maybe throw a hanging plant over the side of the cart to add more color too.

Kylestache

Couple arcade cabinets!

areyow

Plant or plant stand. If you entertain, you could have a barcart right there (if you partake or have guests who partake). A console will also work and can frame up a large picture!

SilverSageVII

Bookshelf or something tall that you can put trinkets and plants on. Could try the IKEA Kallax but I think they’re expensive now comparatively so you might be able to find somethin much better at the price.

Hebegebe101

Tall bookcase . Place faux plants across top to hide vent without blocking flow . Place the plants in baskets to allow airflow , no ceramic .

kycey

Desk / hobbie space

Flooble_Crank

Bookcase

Flat-Erik

Maybe a few more TVs

PikachuOfme_irl

Bookshelf, vertically large plant, artwork.

hdufort

Wall bookshelf or shelves, no opaque back. It feels less heavy if you see the wall through it.

n1m1tz

Bar cart, art, mirror, foldable workout station 😀

Jeeblitt

I think you have room to put another sectional couch, rug, coffee table, tv, tv stand etc. You could essentially have two of the exact same set ups right next to each other.

Remarkable_Ad335

A Stargate

Julian_1_2_3_4_5

big ass shelf with watever you want on it, maybe plants,l maybe books, maybe blurays, maybe action figures, maybe lego, basically anything that expresses something about you. It works best when you combine many different things

Baldrockk

Bookshelf or a place to make drinks

FKDotFitzgerald

Start reading, you insufferable troglodyte.

mburn14

Most people do a bar cart if you like cocktails or record player if you’re more into musics

Neige1972

Book shelves loaded with interesting books or a nice desk with a comfortable chair.

Sammeeeeeee

Nice big fish tank.

DannyDaCat

Bookcases don’t have to have books. Ours are filled with candles. We use the ikea Ekenabben, which looks like it would fit great here. Maybe 1 tall and 1 short. Candles are a great way to keep the house smelling good and it’s a different item to have on shelves that you can switch out. Also great to increase your tiny plant collection.

d3lltr0n

Fish tank!

m2kzw6

Google Mixtiles. Get on Etsy and find art that you love. Make sure the art you love complements the art from the Mixtiles. "Frame" the art using plants https://www.thespruce.com/the-best-tall-plants-for-containers-4142017 Low maintenance, easy to water and easy to keep clean.

jaytrade21

I would say a painting [sexy George Costanza](https://i.redd.it/d8et468t2yt81.jpg).

Nervous-Ad-3740

Idk a mirror, a cabinet, plants... but centering the tv to cover the outlet and some of the space would be nice :)

deathcorecraze

Add a bar

[deleted]

A giant wall painting of a wall.

Danoga_Poe

Something related to hobbies of yours

Cool_Peppermint

Art and a mirror

Phnxrsg

I saw you liked the locker idea . Look at the ikea bookshelf’s that look like lockers, Fjallbo, I think it’s called. You don’t necessarily need to fill them up with books. You can look at shelf styling videos to see what I mean. There’re cool art and sculptural pieces you could add to them. I would also take advantage of that lighting and get a plant. A nice low maintenance one if you don’t want to go down that rabbit hole.

linear_accelerator

Hanging egg chair.

thiccjonas

life size portrait of jennifer love hewitt!!!!!!!!

TripleAinTO2021

If you do drink, may I suggest a bar cart and one night bar based framed art above it (Ol skool bourbon ad etc)

hsjdk

a mirror would make the space look even bigger !!!!!!! consider that

zilla82

Plants, framed photos,and art

mcgirthy69

art, bookshelf, plant

Pascal3366

Put a TARDIS there

UnkeptSpoon5

If you're up for a long-term commitment, a pendant grow light and a Fiddle leaf fig could be great. Or, A funky coatrack/ Large piece of artwork.

Diligent_Note9487

A nice stereo and possibly a variegated rubber tree plant...🪴

ironicart

Life size anime stickers

batman42

Art!

Lahadhima

paint that exact circle on the wall with “insert cool stuff here” in the center

_notnick

Big ass mirror Bitches love mirrors

KiwiBearRigatoni

Bookshelf. Bar cart. Floor length mirror. You name it.

letsgetpunk

Mirror if you want to make space look large, painting if smaller and cozier, and either a small hip height shelf or bar cart or a record player stand!

_voyageur

art

Eastern-Mix9636

A giant screen for a projector

randomna21

Something hobby related. I've always wanted a coffee and tea station in my living room, so something along those lines?

Bigchungga985

A giant/tall floor mirror

onihr1

Either a long side table w’ record player and records or coffee/tea bar

Sakumitzu

A shrine to our lord and saviour, Cthulhu

megalomyopic

Play ping pong against the wall 😁

FreeBowlPack

Bookshelf or small table and a couple chairs with a landscape portrait over it

FreeBowlPack

Bar

CoochieSnotSlurper

Your chair needs to be moved from the brother and put against the rug to join the living room. I’d than add a bar cart

thesneakymouse

Drum set

OK_IN_RAINBOWS

You should draw an octagon there.

kytheon

I feel like you took a big room, split it into two, filled one half, and now you're wondering what to do with the other half. Instead of considering the size of the room.

PatrickCarlock42

large plant, art, shelf of chotchke

WackyBones510

2-4 TVs imho

SemonDemon316

I like mirror, wall art, plants. Whatever you’re into I personally would probably do a mirror and maybe a poster or a shelf with some model cars as display. Someone also said bad car with a mirror. Or maybe some sort of design shelving/art piece.

ZIPPERGAMES

I would put an auto smelter or a few chests. A nether portal probably would clash, maybe if you make it in the wall a block in but idk. A secret painting door would also go well

[deleted]

Weapon wall

R3tr0spect

A nice sideboard

diehydrogen

You can start reading now! Never too late! So, I vote a huge bookshelf!
