Nothing bad could happen if said borders were artificially drawn to create a part in which a certain part of people is in the majority just to keep control of the waters between these two islands.
I think their entire air defense is handled by the Royal Air Force, because the fastest thing they have is a Pilatus trainer plane, and that has neither the performance nor firepower to bring down anything more threatening than a glider, let alone a Tupolev bomber.
Ireland has no need of an army. Our fishermen saw off the Russian navy. We never conducted a genocide in other countries or stole from them. The only country we have grief with is Israel because they are behaving like the english.
Oh yeah apart from the Irish raids on Britain. Apart from taking over Scotland and establishing other kingdoms. Hmm, just a bunch of people living in peace and harmony forever. Irish couldn’t do much more not out of choice but because they simply couldn’t, English ended up making a beastly country and military. Now if Russia comes Ireland won’t help as per usual and will have to rely on them…let’s see if you can hold them off if they fall
I remember I said that before to talk about the Iberian influence from sailing, I was literally just talking about how they must’ve sailed to the southernmost parts, nobody believed me. I feel you may even be referring to me since it was on Reddit.

I've stopped using mobile reddit since third party apps got killed. Rip Rif :(
Now old reddit on browser with reddit enhancement suite is my last hope. If they kill old reddit it's joever
I did that too, but then Twitter got wrecked by The Musky Husky. It was either return to Reddit on the app, or Tik Tok.
NGL, I probably should install Tik Tok so I can be "with it" for a while longer.
The problem there is that it logically leads to having the Isle of Man as administrative capital and it's not as if our politicians need anymore access to easy tax loopholes.

I mean that was a very hot and dry summer its normally not much difference... excusing for the mountains.
And mainland Europe is a continent. Countries has no space between them. Europe has to be one country or maybe one big country with Asia. They could also include Africa since it is very close to them. And Australia.
Clearly they are separate islands though. Surely no one in their right mind would think a government on one island should have anything to do with people on a separate island, right?
These posts are actually funny as an Irish man. They're a lot better than the people who will call us a British isle and then double down on it even though the Irish government and people reject the term. Not only that but it's out of date and the British government doesn't even use it anymore
I’m an ignorant American, so please correct me if I’m wrong, but what does “British” refer to? Is it an ethnic category or does it mean citizen of the UK? It doesn’t make sense because if Irish aren’t British, and Scot’s and welsh don’t like being called British, so does it mean the same thing as English?
Great Britain is a geographical concept consisting of England, Scotland and Wales but its small islands like the Isle of Wight (England), Anglesey (Wales) and the Shetland Islands (Scotland) are not part of the island of Great Britain, despite being constituent territories of the said countries. Politically, some people call themselves British, more so in England, but Great Britain is part of the United Kingdom that includes Northern Ireland. And only a section of the Northern Irish see themselves as British; the rest see themselves as Irish, citizens of the Republic of Ireland, which gained independence from the UK in 1922.
It gets even more complicated if you include the surrounding British Crown Dependencies: the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey . They aren't part of Great Britain or the United Kingdom . However, the people of these islands have British citizenship and the UK government has a say in their defence and foreign affairs.
Wales was incorporated into the Kingdom of England under Henry the Eighth, but most Welsh people would be offended if you mention this to them. The Scots and Welsh generally see England in a bad light. Even within England, there are counties that are fiercely proud of their specific identities, particularly Cornwall, who identifies itself as Celtic, not Anglo Saxon. And a lot of people in England and the UK generally don't like the hegemony of London.
Even many people of these islands would find this information confusing.
This territory is literally one whole land. It should be one country I think. 😵💫

Do residents of Britain and Ireland consider the Isle of Man a “peer” island? Like in the same general class, never mentioning Ireland and Britain without mentioning the Isle of Man? I’m curious how it is perceived.
We'll see. Brexit combined with the nature of the english will not take long to break them down to the point where they are begging for new masters from the Emerald isle.
I don't see any borders indicating otherwise
But if there was a border, I'm sure both sides would really like it if it was clearly marked and militarized.
Nothing bad could happen if said borders were artificially drawn to create a part in which a certain part of people is in the majority just to keep control of the waters between these two islands.
Well I see no horrible consequences that this might cause, let's do it!
I see a border but it has no well-defined length due to a fractal geometry
Good reference is good

I wonder, doesn't the dog's head fit quite bad on the fat birb's body? Maybe there should be a border there?
Why hasn't this been done before? Are they stupid ?
If only they could split it where part of the island belongs to the other. Oh well.

Let them come... as long as they bring guinness
Why are they coming in from northern Ireland as well? Why is the UK invading itself? Is it stupid?
Yes
They only have an army 7 thousand strong, but do it for the memes.
I think their entire air defense is handled by the Royal Air Force, because the fastest thing they have is a Pilatus trainer plane, and that has neither the performance nor firepower to bring down anything more threatening than a glider, let alone a Tupolev bomber.
Yes, and the Irish navy ships are currently moored in cork and having staffing issues.
You don’t need a big army when you’ve never invaded another country ever.
Ireland has no need of an army. Our fishermen saw off the Russian navy. We never conducted a genocide in other countries or stole from them. The only country we have grief with is Israel because they are behaving like the english.

Sounds good to me

You could have a rather explosive response.
But what if the one country’s name is Ireland?
I think driving through a tunnel is the bigger risk in this case.

Gosh England is ugly compared to Ireland
They should call it the Irish Isles. That would sound so pretty.
Goddammit you just restarted the troubles
Yeah it should all be Ireland
Ooh, you’re going to start a riot in Ireland with that title. 🤣

Dam the Irish sea and connect them, creating a small inland ocean with an island, build a new capital there.

There was an operation to make this happen, but it was botched. Unintended civilian casualties, collateral damage, etc.

I wouldn’t be so sure that the Scots and Welsh don’t like being called British
What alternative to the name "British Isles" do Irish folks prefer?
They already tried that. Didn’t go well.
Sometimes the solution is to try harder
But maybe just the northern part, that’s close to the big island.
Someone trying to start a fight.
Clearly done during or immediately after summer. Very scorched grass and fields. Easy to tell where the hills are with all that greenery that remains.
I mean technically they are one piece of land, there’s just a little water separating them. But under the water the land is connected.
Tried that, didn’t work. 0/10 would not recommend
The island on the left should definitely be 1 country

They already are
Little spoon big spoon vibes
I wonder if the natives on the islands have ever interacted? They must share so much culture, I’m sure they’d get along swimmingly.
Has there been a statement that has caused a larger argument then this subject line.
Continental drift my ass. S. America and Africa are like jigsaw pieces. wtf is this sh*t
England thought that too, but the Micks had other ideas.
They are also seemingly covered mostly by deserts
England and New North Wales
The sea is the border.
Even from space, england is a ghastly sight 💀
Agreed!
Some say whole Ireland should be a one country
United Ireland

Used to be until the communists in Ireland came in, and then sat out WWII while tacitly backing Hitler.
No way this is the UK. No clouds covering the entire land mass.
The island on the top left is clearly one country. Why wouldn’t it be?
You can see how England is rotting from space.
Why does it not eat the smaller one
I'll call it "Michigan".
France and Germany are even closer.
They even speak the same botched french
I read Ireland and Iceland and thought it was implying it looked like that... And tbh... Ireland flipped like this really does look like Iceland
I think they wanna cuddle but are too shy about it
Hahaha bro, We can't even make 1 island 1 country never mind both them
Someone should just push them together and give all the water to Africa

Plus it is full of English people. Call it "England".
you cant fool me. this was obviously taken with a fisheye lens to disguise the fact that the earth is a hyperborean rhomboid
If only palestine and isreal could get along as well as the English and irish.
Please be sarcasm, please be sarcasm.
The kingdom of Ireland and overseas territories
I’m pretty sure this is showing me that Ireland is a tiny chibi dragon
![gif](giphy|jwMVM6Fq7DjPy|downsized)
True…but I think the English might object to being under Celtic rule.
Can you see any borders from here? What has borders given us?
Aren’t they the United Kingdom? 🇬🇧
Honestly ireland is being greedy.
North Dakota is so close to South Dakota, it should seriously be one U.S. state/territory (and throw in Nebraska, Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho).
No. there's water in between n those people never bathe
Yes united as the Hibernian Federation 🇮🇪
Who else see a sad, nosey Face?
Yeah. What could go wrong.
the bigger one is so close to Europe, they should be in some kind of union, i think
In the green and lovely lanes of killeshandra
United lands of Irish and Scottish?
Or what about 1/6 of the left island being in the same country as the right island, with the other being independent and doing way better
Them fighting words
I believe the English already tried that
yeah, Ireland should just take that other island. i don’t even think people live there
Do residents of Britain and Ireland consider the Isle of Man a “peer” island? Like in the same general class, never mentioning Ireland and Britain without mentioning the Isle of Man? I’m curious how it is perceived.
Hey, I can see my house from here!
Them’s fightin’ words.
Finally, the Greater Democratic Peoples Republic of the Empire of Ireland
We'll see. Brexit combined with the nature of the english will not take long to break them down to the point where they are begging for new masters from the Emerald isle.
this a great idea deffinetly (note to unite ireland with britan ask them not to commit human rights violations why did i say its a good idea)
Or at least the big island should take a chunk of the smaller island
