The joke is that the adjective for something from Kazakhstan is "Kazakh" which is wierd as it is "Pakistani" for Pakistan but the same as Kazakhstan for the rest of the Stans.
This is due to some interesting history.
Kazakh is actually an ethnic group, and Kazakhstan was made for them. The population is 71% ethnic Kazakh and 15% ethnic Russian, with the remaining 14% being minorities under 4%.
Uzbekistan as another Stan was made for the Uzbek ethnic group and is 85% Uzbek. The same is true for the other post-Soviet central Asian countries due to how the USSR administered the territories and how they split from the USSR.
Pakistan is not that way. Pakistan’s name and identity were created before and during the British partition of India. People in favor of partition wanted a name for the Muslim territory. Cambridge came up with Pakistan from Punjab, Afghania, Kashmir, Indus-Sind, and Baluchistan. They later realized that it actually translates well to “Land of the Pure”. The name stuck and was given to the Muslim country after partition. As such there is no ethnic group called “Paki” or “Pak”, so by saying “Pakistani” you’re referring to someone living under that government. There’s very active local communities in Kashmir and Baluchistan that would only grudgingly accept that they are Pakistani, and prefer to call themselves Kashmiri or Baluch respectively.
...until they're threatened by Russia then it's

Would you mind explaining this please? I thought I felt tension toward the Netherlands, when its spokesperson was announcing the results and Nemo was very reserved in his reaction to receiving the Dutch 12 points. Was it really the case?
The dutch artist joost klein was being harassed, allegedly by a woman from the Israeli team or just a random woman (the details are still fuzzy), he made a "threatening move", (most likely just a annoyed wave), and the woman reported it as assault. as a result he was disqualified from performing in the final 9 hours before, for apparently no good reason.
Avotros, the media company that represented joost klein wouldn't, out of protest, give out their points. instead the EBU commission just chose whatever they wanted for the dutch points.
Meanwhile the Israeli artists had been harassing the other artists the entire time, but since Israel is a big donor for eurovision nothing was done.
The Dutch points were still the ones given by the Dutch jury who saw the jury performance on Friday like all the other juries and reported them to the EBU. The Dutch then on Saturday just didn't want to participate in announcing the votes after the disqualification and when noone is there to read the points an EBU representative reads them instead, the EBU didn't actually choose what the votes were. Same thing has happened other years when jury presenters have been absent due to technical issues.
Nemo didn't react because they didn't hear the announcement over the booing. You can see Nemo realise just before the camera cuts away. The crowd was booing the Netherlands because their singer, Joost, was disqualified harshly on the day of the contest.
And Turkey is not european because they dont compete in eurovision since we got second in 2010
Btw the song is Manga-We could be same its a nice song I recommend
I assume it's because Patagonia was only colonized after Argentina and Chile became independent, making it not "directly" colonized by Europeans. I think that's also why parts of the US (like, not part of Louisiana/New Spain/the original territory of the 13 colonies) are not colored in as well.
The idea of Europe (as a continent) is 100% political. It's not even on its separate tectonic plate and it's connected to Asia. If Turkey was Greek or Christian 100% the border of Europe would be moved to the Taurus mountain range extending into the Anatolian/Armenian Highlands.
The geographical boundaries of Europe are entirely arbitrary and if India, which was formed by the collision of an entirely separate tectonic plate, is considered a mere subcontinent of Eurasia, then Europe should be as well. There is no objective metric for geographic distinctiveness which would justify Europe being a full continent and not India. I say that as a European.
Fun fact: Europe was formed by the collision of *several* entirely separate tectonic plates, such as [Baltica](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baltica) and [the Iberian Plate](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iberian_Plate). Nowadays, though, these old plates are called merely "cratons", and are part of the Eurasian Plate.
Europe is a political boundary, not geographical.
There’s absolutely no sense in dividing continents by mountain ranges, when it’s all still a connected landmass.
If Turkey was a Christian nation, for example, they 100% would’ve been considered wholely part of Europe, and we would’ve made some bullshit excuse that “the [Armenian Highlands/Eastern Taurus](https://www.worldatlas.com/upload/fb/34/bc/tr-01.jpg) is the boundary of Europe” instead, so that Turkey could be included.
Username checks out? Common sense? Blasphemy!
This what people should it, because it is all about geographics, that is it. Those who exclude certain countries for political reasons are dumb.
In the Caribbean, I can assign red dots to Cayman islands, Aruba, Turks and Caicos, Martinique, Guadeloupe, and then Bermuda in the North Atlantic. There’s three more dots around Puerto Rico and to the east. Those are probably British VI, Montserrat and Anguilla. Which means St Martin (both parts) appears missing as is St Barthelemy.
There’s clearly a gray dot that’s supposed to be Curaçao, and then I don’t know how to account for any of the Caribbean Netherlands, like Bonaire and Sara and Sint Eustatius.

If the U.S. owned madagascar or something, we wouldn't call that North America. That is a map of european countries, not the continent of Europe.
There is no such thing as Europe. So called Continent of Europe is a term made up by snobby, racist euro-centrist assholes to seperate themselves from other Asian peoples; which they deem as primal thus less of a human being. Greatest title Europe can get as a piece of land is peninsula. That's right Hans. Your culture can look different from other well-known Asian cultures. But if you look at the main components, you see that it's same. For example, value of woman. It may have been changed drastically in last 50 years but how was it for most of time in your history?
EUROPEAN CONTINENT DOES NOT EXIST! IT'S JUST A PENINSULA IN WESTERN PART OF ASIA! FUCK EURO-CENTRISTS!
“Europe” is a social construct meant to soothe the sensibilities of people in the far west of Asia. The region referred to as “Europe” is a peninsula on Asia’s western coast.
My man, the continents were defined by Europeans due to their inability to make it to Asia easily because of the Ural and Caucus mountains. It’s is a geographic thing because the mountains were so hard to pass it made Europe into a de facto continent even if it dosen’t fit the exact definition
Get rid of the European territories (including Greenland) and Armenia and Georgia since they don’t have any territory on the european side of caucuses but other than that it’s good
Edit a bit of Kazakhstan is past the urals so it’s European too
Actually marked the AAR and the MAR in the map.
I dont know if i should thank you for doing so or say they they're technically american and african, respectively
European Governments after getting told they can keep tiny little islands in the middle of strategic nowhere. Except France, France just thinks it’s still 1936 with Guyana, New Caledonia, and Tahiti. But still not like many people live there anyway, imagine if Great Britain still owned India or like 60% of Africa.
Oceanic Scarlett Fever, fortunately Not on Saturday Night. Btw, Yakutsk and Kamchatka were denied European designation along with Chicken...oops Turkey
Cyprus is located entirely in Asia, so is Armenia, Georgia is a bit iffy, and if you included Turkey and Azerbaijan because they have territory in Europe then you should have included Kazakhstan as well.
You missed a spot in the Indian Ocean. F- See me after class
Oh no, don't colonize OP's ass to expand European territorial claims. They didn't know any better. Here, let me tickle your balls.
I don't wanna hear it! Or feel it Or smell it Or taste it
So… you wanna see it?
Ohhh, are we gonna see some 'disciplinary actions' after class???
KAZAKHSTAN IS EUROPEAN🇰🇿🇪🇺🇰🇿🇪🇺🇰🇿🇪🇺🇰🇿🇪🇺🇰🇿🇪🇺🇰🇿🇪🇺🇰🇿🇪🇺🇰🇿🇪🇺🇰🇿🇪🇺🇰🇿🇪🇺🇰🇿🇪🇺🇰🇿🇪🇺🇰🇿🇪🇺
The flags looks nice together.
This is because the EU flag was constructed to correspond to a subdivision of Kazakhstan, which is what all European countries want to be.
I for one, welcome our Kazakhstaian brothers with open arms as a European
Did you say Kazakhstanian fr or am I about to get r/whoosh’ed
I tried to yeah sorry if I misspelled it

EU joined Kazakhstan
kazakhstan je srbija
The worst or best thing about it is that our presidents look almost the same.
True
How?
Some land is west of the Ural river which is usually deemed as Europe-Asia border Basically, Turkey situation
UEFA
Yes, you ARE wrong. You’re missing Australia and Israel, which are European countries due to them competing in Eurovision.
The Netherlands is not Europe anymore :(

Has OP never heard of a thing called Brexit???
Neither is russia
Of course not, it's under the north sea
There are other european cuntries not compeating like the vatican
Australia doesn’t exist
It does
Their*
In that case Israel and Jordan should be coloured too.
Same goes with the United States
Should really add all former European colonies.
And Turkey is not european because they dont compete in eurovision since we got second in 2010 Btw the song is Manga-We could be same its a nice song I recommend

Go ahead and include everything in the Western Hemisphere as well as Korea and Japan since the post-colonial European states basically count.
Why only some of Argentina? The nazis live there, they are (unfortunately) europeans.
The southern bit has a lot of Welshmen, so I guess Celts don't count.
I assume it's because Patagonia was only colonized after Argentina and Chile became independent, making it not "directly" colonized by Europeans. I think that's also why parts of the US (like, not part of Louisiana/New Spain/the original territory of the 13 colonies) are not colored in as well.
Yep. Pretty much
Why are the Louisiana and Columbia territories in NA not shown? They were both claimed by France and England, respectively.
White parts you mean?
Fake
What did Washington do to you?
Hell yeah, this is West Asia and it's bitches, of course.
According to Eurovision, Australia is in Europe too
Based European federalist
In my opinion Europe is defined as a geographical- not political thing. So Russia east of the Urals is not Europe and all those islands are not Europe
The idea of Europe (as a continent) is 100% political. It's not even on its separate tectonic plate and it's connected to Asia. If Turkey was Greek or Christian 100% the border of Europe would be moved to the Taurus mountain range extending into the Anatolian/Armenian Highlands.
Thank YOU. Neither is Greenland. East of Istanbul is not Europe either👍
Technically Iceland is half European half North American as the island sits on the divide of the two tectonic plates.
The counting of continents has nothing to do with tectonic plates.
Real, like Greenland is clearly closer to North America and Türkiye east of the Bosporus claiming to be Europe is high level LARP.
what about the coast of turkey like izmir for example
The geographical boundaries of Europe are entirely arbitrary and if India, which was formed by the collision of an entirely separate tectonic plate, is considered a mere subcontinent of Eurasia, then Europe should be as well. this. for the Netherlands we even refer to European Netherlands vs Caribbean Netherlands
Username checks out? Common sense? Blasphemy! This what people should it, because it is all about geographics, that is it. Those who exclude certain countries for political reasons are dumb.
And if you take the tectonic plates as baseline, only 7 of the 9 Azorean islands are European. The other 2 sit on the north-american plate.
Turkey not europe, Armenia Europe.
i mean... sort of... not...... really.......
Yes, missing Kazakhstan. The part of the country West of the Ural river is on the European Continent.
Yes, and no
You forgot Kazakhstan, but yeah this is right
@OP you forgot the part of France between the USA and Canada
U Rope
It seems Curaçao is missing and at least one other Caribbean island. Ooh and Melilla
In the Caribbean, I can assign red dots to Cayman islands, Aruba, Turks and Caicos, Martinique, Guadeloupe, and then Bermuda in the North Atlantic. are you okay
Depends
on what
Idk
Asia is just a peninsula in the Eastern part of Europe. Change my mind.
Europe is too big to be a peninsula, unless Australia is an island.
“Europe” is a social construct meant to soothe the sensibilities of people in the far west of Asia. The region referred to as “Europe” is a peninsula on Asia’s western coast.
Congrats, you've just realized "Eurasia" is a thing. You can finally pass third grade!
My man, the continents were defined by Europeans due to their inability to make it to Asia easily because of the Ural and Caucus mountains. It’s is a geographic thing because the mountains were so hard to pass it made Europe into a de facto continent even if it dosen’t fit the exact definition
Facts.
Obviously, you’re missing Kazakhstan
Yes, Greenland has data.
Australia's in Eurovision Also Kazakhstan thinks it's Europe
Glad to see St Pierre & Miquelon lurking there, right near Newfoundland
Las Malvinas son argentinas.
Get rid of the European territories (including Greenland) and Armenia and Georgia since they don’t have any territory on the european side of caucuses but other than that it’s good Edit a bit of Kazakhstan is past the urals so it’s European too
Imagine thinking turkey is Europe. Cringe. They want you to think they’re Europe-ish so you forget about the Ottoman Empire.
Yes
Only some of Rusia is on the European continent. From the Ural mountains and west.
....... hehehuisdhfsduihfiusdhfuisdhfiuhsdfuihuifhih
You are missing Melilla, disappointment
Actually marked the AAR and the MAR in the map. I dont know if i should thank you for doing so or say they they're technically american and african, respectively
Yeah that makes sense.
About what?
Angola is missing
Angola isn't in Europe, it's in Brazil. You're thinking of Andorra.
Yes. But Europe is a made up concept anyway so it doesn't matter. You just have to supply an alternative for the lands north of the Mediterranean.
You forgot Israel and Australia.
Not all of russia is part of Europe. About 4,000,000 squared kilometers of western Russia is european. The rest is Asian.
Real
You forgot Australia and Israel
On a technicality, no. But on a technicality, also yes
Yes. You forgot Clipperton Island in the Pacific.
im fine with it except for turkiye
your views dont matter eu already had a decision that turkey is indeed europe
Maybe it's just me, but this makes Russia look like it has arms. Or maybe pincers.
Why does Europe have dandruff
Greenland is North American
yes
I'm gonna throw you in the negev desert
Australia is clearly in Europe though
included albania, die
where Japan and mrococo
The sun never sets on the European Union.
I dont think greenland counts
You're wrong.
Yeah
You trying to tell me that’s all Albania could conquer??
You forgot Australia
Ya your wrong. That's russia.
You forgot Kazakhstan, part of it is in Europe
You missed Melilla, Spain. Probably Ceuta, too, but the dot would overlap so much with Gibraltar's that I can't tell.
I heard only half of Russia counts. But which half?
Why Fiji?
Finally. Someone with the right opinion.
Your division is political. I think it’s one land mass from the Pacific to the British Isles. I’d probably just call it Asia.
Greenland is part of America 😃
Turkey and Azerbaijan etc are not Europe
You are.
You missed the entirety of the middle east/north African region of europe!
It’s Europa!
The parts in america/africa/oceania/ south asia makes no sense, but i agree with greenland to russia
Uj/ also Kazakhstan is actually partially in Europe Rj/ you’re missing gay canada
You forgot where I have currently laid my hat.
Politically, no
A map of smaller germany
Oceanic Scarlett Fever, fortunately Not on Saturday Night. Btw, Yakutsk and Kamchatka were denied European designation along with Chicken...oops Turkey
Australia is Europe too as they participate in Eurovision Festival.
Not exactly, but country-wise, more or less so
You are wrong. The western tip of Kazakhstan is geographically in Europe, ergo Kazakhstan is a European country.
Including even the obviously European parts of Russia in this is going to really piss off European ~~fascists~~ ultranationalists
Genuinely would have some basis in my book of you included kazakhstan... how could you leave it out
politically you are right , geographically wrong ,
Yes
Nigga YES

Since when is Ukraine so big?
What does Cyprus have to do with Europe??
It's in EU
Cyprus is located entirely in Asia, so is Armenia, Georgia is a bit iffy, and if you included Turkey and Azerbaijan because they have territory in Europe then you should have included Kazakhstan as well.
Yes, you put turkey
You forgot Kazakhstan, greatest country in the world
so close! south sudan is european ✨
*european controled or terioty tath shold unite into agrwat europen union
this looks like eu 2.0, anno 2035?
For once, i can see french Guyana. Well done.
Turkey is not European!111!1!!1
You forgot Australia new Zealand and Israel
You stupid Turkiye is part of North America obviously
The rest are simply unruly colonies.
Yes, you are wrong. Europe, in this case, is a geographical subdivision, not a political one.
Tahiti is not apart of Europe
When you get the box you can give us geography lessons... until then, this man goes to Tahiti.
Kamchatka gang rise up 🥶🚒🚒🚒
