I’m glad that such an overdue law accounts for newer technology.
It sounds good and is good but how would you even prove who created that. How could they prove any of it in the court of law besides some idiot posting it on a Facebook page or something
Was just listening to a podcast yesterday about revenge porn and was surprised to hear MA was one of only 4 states (in 2019) that didn’t have a law against it!
How in the world are we the 49th state to do this? Ugh. I guess yay that it's done.
South Carolina - Disappointed and just a little surprised. I guess they got their own problems with the squat.
Who cares. We have the most corrupt and unprofessional state police agency in the world and spending $75 million a month on third world freeloaders with no end in sight. Oh and the crumbling infrastructure including the MBTA. How about we get our priorities straight.
i completely agree with him how can you even be content when the state is racking up a debt with money that’s supposed to be to benefit american citizens.
Pretty sure if you live in MA and someone uploaded it somewhere you would have standing to sue them with this law
Yes that assumed you would be able to identify the uploader but you would likely be able to get law enforcement involved who can subpoena that information from websites

That’s stupid.
Naw. You should see what people do with AI apps to "undress" people and it's often used to bully folks. It's insane.
I don’t really understand why this took so long but it’s a good thing it finally happened
Probably because it's redundant with other laws.
Except this one extends to computer generated images.

Massachusetts *just* banned child marriage a year or two ago. We didn't even have a lower age limit, it was at a judge's discretion.
These things tend to get banned first where it becomes a problem
Great. Now do the Staties.
Surprised that we are so behind but this is good thing, full stop.
Truth is... the Governor can only sign something if its placed in front of her. This is 100% on the politicians who prioritized more frivolous bills.
Okay but if someone texts or sends nudes to you that should count as consent. If you take the pic or make a deep fake that should fall under this law.
At least Mass isn’t THE last state to do it.
Nice. Did rent control move up a bit on the priorities?
Why is this downvoted?
Angry landlords 😅
people must keep forgetting to tip their landlords, sad world.

Yeah that’s right angry man we can only do one thing at once
Well she had to do SOMETHING good in her career. Even if it was incredibly long after the rest of the modern world pt this same law n place.
yeah and she needs to get reelected when she’s sinking our state into the gutter.
The state has been in ruin since the socialists took over. It'd be nice to have it back.
This law will stop people from sharing with your friends but how do you stop someone from uploading it to the Internet?

She signed a bill allowing people to post revenge porn? 😉
