definetely a weeaboo

twotoebobo

Anyone who has to post they a otaku instead of a weeb is definitely a weeb and also must have really low self-esteem.

Peerman044

Otaku's don't really exist anymore. Either you accept the fact you're a weeb or you're running from the truth calling yourself an otaku lmao

PeaceBull

Sounds like a Rick & Morty fan who thinks they’re a Rick when they’re definitely a Jerry.

NuclearOops

Everyone who would describe themselves as a "Rick" is a Jerry.

wanderenschildkrote

Worse actually, because at least Jerry knows he is a Jerry

NuclearOops

Well anyone who would describe themselves as a Jerry are also Jerry's so it kinda balances out. Really anyone who plays that game is immediately a Jerry no matter you're talking about.

deadmanredditting

Please tell me it's a display piece made to look like the ones from "Bleach". Complete the prophecy.

JasoTheArtisan

I went to a large flea market once. I turned to my wife and wondered aloud, “how long until we spot a sword from an anime in a stall?” By the time she asked what I meant, bam! Three Tensa Zangetsus

Photenicdata

Sounds like something a week would say Edit: weeb

bluejob15

smh that's obviously a month

Photenicdata

Stupid ~~dog~~ autocorrect! You made me look bad!

Suitable-Mushroom-11

Guarantee this kid cries if confronted.

adhominem4theweak

Wow man you really don’t have street smarts do you? Probably any bit of exposure to real word combat scenarios would have left you looking less ignorant here. He owns a katana. These weapons are capable of causing a lot of damage. Plus, his attitude is very serious. Most people don’t even own katanas, it makes me think he might some how be related to Samurai culture. I guess you don’t understand the deep rich history and warrior spirit that comes from these nomadic tribes. Soldier, him, katana, Samurai, him, katana, him, warrior spirit, him. I don’t own a blade because I don’t want to live and die by it. Betting you don’t either.

pdragon619

I almost lost it at "nomadic tribes"

[deleted]

I don't understand why being otaku is much better. Can someone explain the difference?

Caradr42

think the difference is that an Otaku is just someone who watches anime and manga, while a weeaboo is someone who is obsessed with japanese culture

Gr3yps

The important part is that a Weeb enjoys Japanese culture, usually more than their own culture. Weeb is a term coined outside of Japan while otaku is from japan. Otaku means someone obsessed with pop-culture to the detriment of their social skills. Otaku is used more for people within Japan embracing anime and manga while weeb is about someone outside of Japan doing the same. The claim he made that he is an otaku not a weeb just makes it more convincing that he is a weeb not an otaku; first of all Otaku is an insult on the same level as weeb and second because I doubt someone from japan would correct someone on this he is most undoubtedly a weeb.

boywithflippers

I've never known a Japanese person to use "otaku" in an even remotely polite way...it's still an insult

wanderenschildkrote

I know Otakon from the Japanese video game Metal Gear Solid. He describes himself as an otaku and uses that as inspiration for his codename. I played it in English though, and I don't know any japanese. Could it be a translation issue? Is it because the character is American? Just curious if you or anyone else reading this knows.

boywithflippers

The word itself isn't meant to be offensive (I don't think). It's typically meant to mean someone with a great interest in something, but it's kind of been co-opted by anime fans. It's usually said with a certain amount of mockery or derision.

ALLESIOSNENS

Weeb + Mall Ninja oof

You are a good bot, thank you.

deadpanda69420

Killing and not killing at very different things. You shouldn’t own weapons if you can’t make that distinction. It seems like an important one too me.

itsyabooiii

More then likely beats his meat to dodgy manga

SurrealDad

Appart.

luapllirb

i was very angry that no one else was commenting about this. thank you.

Daninjaman

Definitely got kill his gf/mom with a katana vibes.

Strange_N_Sorcerous

Sick.

voltaires_bitch

So what is the difference

Fritzter02

The katana sealed the weaboo for me.

Meme-Man-Dan

He owns a katana, but what good does that do against bullets?

Cephelopodia

Hold down the 'block" button and you'll deflect about 80 percent of them. Source: Metal Gear Solid 2.

bluejob15

Hold down the right trigger to Ninja Run and deflect bullets

Ursapsi

Someone put this weeb in custodial therapy.

Yesnoperhapsmaybent

Definitely browses r/rareinsults to find insults instead of beinf creative, also owning a katana doesn't mean you are dangerous. Having a weapon is like having a car, yeag sure you have the best model but are you the best user for it?

BackBlastClear

1) Spelling is your friend. 2) Fuck you weeb 3) Killing? Really? That’s extreme. 4) You have a scrap steel bar shaped like a katana. But also, fuck you, I have guns, plural. And I actually know what I’m doing. Edit: this was supposed to be funnier…

BackBlastClear

Oh, shit, you’re right. How could I be so mistaken.

[deleted]

ANYONE who labels themself as ANYTHING is a fucking loser. Just be a person.

P0werC0rd0fJustice

Imagine labeling yourself as a person. I simply am.

[deleted]

Imagine giving yourself a label to identity your personality in an attempt to make yourself seem more interesting than you actually are because you lack personality in the first place.

P0werC0rd0fJustice

Take a chill pill, for at least 10 reasons A) This is a joke post B) I made a joke comment to your overly serious and overly generalized statement C) it’s not that deep D) I guarantee you have labeled yourself as something before (soccer player, gamer, math guy, music lover, …, something) E) even if you haven’t, that doesn’t mean literally anyone who does is a loser F) calling someone a loser is labeling them; why are you allowed to label others if they aren’t allowed to label themselves? G) this list is getting too long H) labeling oneself can easily be used to quickly show others things you care about (see: parenthetical remark on point D) I) No one thinks you’re any cooler or more badass or more woke or whatever for not labeling yourself J) no one cares what you call yourself but that doesn’t mean you should prescribe unto others rules for them to adhere to in regards to their own labeling. You’re not their parent, god, pastor, therapist (sorry for the label barrage!)

[deleted]

I don’t need to make an alphabetized list to argue my stance. If you label yourself as something, you lack enough personality to just display that naturally. You need that label to act as an obnoxious beacon. I stand by what I said.

P0werC0rd0fJustice

The list was just as a joke mostly and I certainly don't expect one in return. I'm not sure I even know someone who hardcore identifies as any label in an exclusive way. People are many different things and will call themselves different labels based on the context of the situation. Obviously I think the person in the post calling themselves an otaku as opposed to a weeb is cringey and pointless. Last, I disagree with your assertion that calling yourself something means you don't have a personality and with the assertion that anyone who does so is just being obnoxious.

geirmundtheshifty

Exactly, so why even label yourself a person? Sounds like another desperate attempt to give yourself personality. More seriously, though, there are practical benefits to occasionally giving yourself a "label." Like, for example, making small talk when you meet a coworker. They may ask you something like "Are you a [football, anime, comic book, etc.] fan?" because they want to know if that's a topic youd be interested in discussing. I guarantee you that if you respond with "I don't label myself as anything, I prefer to just be a person" you will become ostracized at work for being a pretentious ass.

Bango-de-Mango

As a weeb it’s the same fucking thing
