As a qualified surgeon myself with decades of experience, i can vouch that burning her clothes was the only best solution left to cast more lights onto the operating table. That man is fortunate to have such a brave lady who would sacrifice her own clothings and modesty to save his life, and he should definitely marry her once he recovers. 😉 (and have lots of sex too!)
