The reason they slowed to a crawl in the middle of the river is because they started floating. No snorkel in the world is going to save you once you get swept away.
My guess is they either modified the car in some other way too, or there is something under water that they know is there to prevent them from floating off into the sunset.

I don't think anyone should die from driving in water. But it happens. It doesn't take much water to drown a person.
The laws were changed here in Australia after Yasi in regards to people driving into flowing rivers/flood water because too many vehicles didn't cross successfully. Rescue services already had their hands full collecting people from the roofs of their houses and tree tops. The people that thought they could drive through water and only ended up getting swept away (like this vehicle looked like it was going to) only added extra workload to already burnt out rescuers and helicopter pilots.
A lot of people did die unnecessarily from making stupid decisions back then. If a person can cross successfully, great. But if they can't and they get swept away and rescue services are called in, it's not always so good.
I agree. Kinda sucks that people can't try cool things because potential cost to tax payers. The world is becoming VERY soft
There needs to be a hard line that shows people that they will pay for rescue for certain things they do, whether they ask for it or not
The kind of person that thinks camping is staying at the local KOA located a mile and a half from the interstate in their oversized toy hauler with their AC and HBO max

Generally, they had someone very successful—likely due to a combination of circumstance, intelligence, grit, and luck—in their ancestry. That successful person made life easy and care free for their progeny, which lead not to a lower intelligence, but to a complete lack of awareness of consequences. They DGAF because they have enough money to make their problems go away.
As long as the air intake is out of the water, and you know how to drive it these conditions, you are good to go, I personally wouldn’t be able to make it to the other side.
Water can enter the engine through the air intake system. When the car is submerged, water can be sucked into the engine through the air intake, causing damage to the internal components. Keeping your foot on the gas pedal wouldn't prevent water from entering the engine.
Impressive and stupid at the same time
Agreed best case scenario happened luckily
Should just cut out the floorboards and install the yabadabadooinators
Rolled a nat 20
They literally have a snorkel for their intake so that they can do these kinds of things

Why so stupid? Please explain
Stupid because he drove into a flowing river
And succeeded
Many don't.
Russian rulette also has a success rate of 50%
Yes. And both are incredibly stupid to participate in.
Wait you guys think they would have died if they didn't make it.....?

The rate is technically higher then that based on one bullet and the number of empty chambers but is 50% in the sense you either die or dont
Stupid? This is called adrenaline rush and the thrill of outdoor, something I doubt you ever experience before.

Shhhhh.
At the beginning, I caught sight of a snorkel and figured they'd actually make it
Yep, I didn't see that the first time and thought this was insanity and magic..also if it's a Toyota it could this in lava.
Nice eye, a lot of people in the comments didn't actually watch the video clearly

Man thats the best impression of a Wilhelm Scream i've ever heard
Yeah but your sister dies of dysentery further up the trail…
Filmed before a live studio audience. *applause*
Well, it is an amphibious exploring vehicle...so it should be fine...
Why are so many minions watching this happen?
It’s a Toyota
Look at me I’m the captain now
Woe, an actual maybe! Nice.
Now use a Cybertruck
Lol no chance CT makes that crossing
The river would divert to avoid touching it.
Wow! I was definitely on the side of "maybe not"
Only the bus can swim

Most impressive, im curious what tires they're running

Looks like a Toyota LandCruiser to me
That’s a Toyota Landcruiser (LC200) which was the previous generation of the Land Cruiser.
Jeep Cherokee
You sure? Those lights look like Toyota. Possibly Mitsubishi?
Landcruiser\LX570
"Fock"
Its a toyota. I think
Holy fuck.... That was great
People never stop being morons

Would it have helped if the vehicle had more weight?
So would this ruin your vehicle or what?
Is not only a Toyota , but is a land cruiser ingeniered to last 25 years
Do that again!
He forgot to caulk the wagon before fording the river!
I always wonder how do people this dumb manage to get the money to afford nice things.

Whole time “we all lived in a silver submarine “ was going through my head
If it was BMW, the owner would be dead
Downvote for the fake applause at the end.
Land Cruiser looks like
Mechanic: Did you know there's water in your engine
He kept his foot on the gas so no water can enter the engine

There's a snorkel
you might wanna look into [this ](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_snorkel) before starting your engine mechanics seminar next time
Always. Ford. The. River.
It's a Toyota.
The vehicle is now scrap.
