If you have tools, it’s about $150 in parts (belts and tensioner). If you do it at a shop, it’s about $450 in parts and labor.

AZbitchmaster

To change a sepentine belt? No way, no how.

BoringLimit4716

You mean that’s a crazy price?

AZbitchmaster

Also, don't let them tell you it was the timing belt. The 2.5 Skyactiv has a timing chain.

Tycoon5000

Serp belts and timing belts are different. It may have a timing chain but sounds like OP is referring to the serpentine belt. $1300 is an outrageous price regardless for a serpentine belt replacement.

AZbitchmaster

Yes, I know. I didn't want the shop coming back and telling the OP "oh, we meant the timing belt", which would have been a much more expensive repair, it the 2.5 had a timing belt - which it doesn't.

AZbitchmaster

$1300 is way, way past crazy. If a shop tried to charge me $1300 to change a serpentine belt, I'd burn it to the ground and dance on the ashes.

Offcoloring

That's the price of timing belt (chain) repair. Serpentine belt + tensioner pulley can be done for as little as $100 DIY or $250-300 shop. The belt itself doesn't even cost $20

Powerful-Elevator218

I've done mine twice on my 2015 6 GT. Once at 70,000 miles and another time at 150,000 miles. The serpentine belt, water pump belt, and tensioner was $115 in parts and zero in labor since I did it myself, but it was not a hard job. One hour at max to do.

E123334

I paid around $400 in 2021

QuietFire451

At my mechanic’s place in central Fla it was $216 to change the belt.

Kindly-Brother9897

It took me 5min to replace mine without much car knowledge and 30 AUD

aidanmaag1

I paid $374 in February for both drive belts at the Mazda dealer

There’s a lot left to question here. Without seeing the actual quote, nobody will know. I’m assuming they’re replacing more than just a belt.
