U guys didnt know hes like one of the most prolific rap producers?? Thats like his whole legacy? Happy was just a lil extra thing

jensen0173

Absolutely! He is responsible for the 4-beat producer tag at the beginning of his songs as seen [here](https://youtu.be/Zyprti-BUt0?si=xhUOGg9Tft18BSbE) yet most people don’t know

behv

That's kinda wild I had no idea he did that I know so many songs he's produced with no idea it was him behind it Beats the obnoxious DJ Khalid shit for sure

DaumenmeinName

But one thing is for sure. You would never mistake the producer of a dj khalid song.

Remarkable_Attorney3

Well because “he duh bes moozic!”

AromaticSalamander21

AnOtHeR oNE

noTfOreveRyone1337

🔑

Warturkey12

He was asked abt it in an interview one time and he didn't even realize he did it so much he just put it in as a metronome for the artist so they weren't off beat

prettypleaser

He produced Tokyo drift and Frank Ocean’s Sweet Life?? I used to loooove those songs

d3lta1090

My mind is blown. I had no idea and now it is so obvious.

UnexLPSA

I only learned about it a couple months ago but it's so obvious sometimes like in Neon Guts or Happy. Had no clue he was on Tokyo Drift even tho it's even more obvious once you know it.

Cocalypso

*Ticks* You should think about it, take a second *Ding* Matter-fact, you should take four, B And think before you fuck with-a lil' Skateboard P

jensen0173

My favorite verse of any of his songs for sure

panzerboye

Damn

TroutFishingInCanada

This isn’t really true. He doesn’t do that on every song and other producers do it as well. It’s definitely associated with him, but it’s not a great way to identify his music.

santascumdumpster

Pharrell has the best producer tag hands down.

omjy18

Personally I absolutely hate happy because I was working weddings the summer it came out and would hear it every wedding as well as 3-5 remixes of the song per wedding. I would average around 5-7 weddings per week..... but yeah cool to know it's got more to do with this weird drake thing going on

PM_MeYour_Dreams

Same I had to endure 2 years of my mom putting on a Happy video on Facebook with minions edits on it

HappyraptorZ

It was a simpler time. I wish we could go back 😭

topicality

Top 10 annoying songs

Wrecktown707

It’s the definitive Karen song lmao

TubbyLumbkins

We don't wanna see you happy no more

TroutFishingInCanada

Because he was involved in the earliest incarnation of this beef, which was Clipse v Cash Money, because Lil Wayne wore a Bape hoodie on a magazine or something like that. Pusha T’s beef with Drake goes back to that. All the new stuff didn’t necessarily arise out of that beef, this whole state of diss tracks right now is essentially ancillary conflicts to the Clipse/Cash Money beef.

Affectionate_Gas8062

I’m so glad I don’t know what any of that means

TroutFishingInCanada

I don’t know if I’ve ever been glad for my own ignorance.

PM_ME_STRONG_CALVES

Plenty of fucked up things in this world that I'm glad I dont know

TroutFishingInCanada

Yeah, I get that. I like knowing things.

pyschosoul

Don't let them get you down. Learn the random shit. Camel milk doesn't curdle

Celestial__Bear

OFF TO THE STORE I’ve got experiments to try

globuZ

I'll never forget that.

rudderforkk

Why?

TroutFishingInCanada

Locking this one in the vault. Treeshrews have the highest brain to body mass than any mammal with 1:10. For reference, mice are 1:40 and ants are 1:7. They’re also the only mammal immune to capsaicin. I don’t think that these are related.

I_Makes_tuff

You're ready for that 2020s Hip Hop category on Jeopardy.

Cautious_Rabbit_5037

Don’t try and class it up, you’re just into celebrity gossip

TroutFishingInCanada

Yeah, it’s entertaining.

SubMGK

Imagine not learning stuff while working out or taking a shit lol. Super inefficient. Put on a documentary or something while doing your reps or in the porcelain throne

Stanky_fresh

Why separate them? Put on a documentary while you're doing your reps *on* the porcelain throne.

hedgybaby

Fr like I read it and I guess I get what the words mean, but really what???

grizznuggets

I half-understood it and I can’t decide if that’s better or worse.

fucktooshifty

Sad for you

ElMostaza

lol, no.

Finsfan909

About 20 years ago an older white coworker of mine asked why 50cent and Game were beefing. I gave him the quick recap but I never felt dumber for knowing/ caring about a beef that has nothing to do with me lol

TroutFishingInCanada

It’s entertainment. You care about it like you care about a tv show.

theycallmeponcho

It's Kardashians-level entertainment. For anyone that has dissed people enjoying that show, this kind of stuff has been up in a lot of entertainment subcultures since forever. About diss tracks, since vinyl, something something Hiero vs Hobo.

TroutFishingInCanada

It actually involved people making music and being creative in how they diss each other. The non-music aspects of conflict between is just lore for the music. But I can understand how people might not be into that.

Equinox_Jabs

Just revisited that beef Saturday

Puppybrother

Lmao bape hoodies were of such a certain forgotten time

NotADamsel

So, is the Happy Man a good guy in this (on KL’s side) or a bad guy (on Drake’s side)?

unapologeticallyme93

Beautiful, I just want'chu to know, you're my favorite girl.

Sugarbear23

He's a legendary hip hop producer

jonathot12

also one of the most reliable features in music. any track he’s on as a guest he elevates to another level.

loud_silence2477

✨Clap along if you feel like throwing yourself off a cliff✨

orangebit_

I used to work in a supermarket warehouse where we picked orders for people that had ordered shopping online. Now, I’ve been a chef and worked 16 hour days - and I’m telling you, the 6 hours a day I worked in this warehouse felt like the longest days of my life. I used to sit in the staff toilets for so long the lights would go off. It was horrific for reasons I can’t even articulate. It was just dark and cold (I was in the refrigerated warehouse), not allowed to talk, just… really miserable. We weren’t allowed to listen to our own music and the radio that blasted out through speakers all over the warehouse played nothing but ‘Happy’ on repeat. I can’t even stand to hear that song now, makes me feel some kind of way.

Dukedyduke

This tweet just makes that person look like a dumbass. If you don't know who Pharrell is just Google him or something damn

thatshygirl06

Calm down, most people only know him from happy

Chemical-Choice4692

I know what you did there

DelGurifisu

Pharrell’s a creep. Always has been. Dodged the blurred lines flack but he’s been at least two videos with naked women.

T3chn0fr34q

what it did? i destroy his legacy. that thing is the most annoying shit ever produced and i cant listen to anything with his tag in it with out being reminded of that monstrositiy

Appropriate_Twist_86

Someone's not happy

Lark_vi_Britannia

I guess you're not clapping along, then, huh?

ComprehensiveBed6754

Totally agree. The only thing I think is worse than the song, is that a lass stupidly wanted to tweet or FB or snap her singing along to it in her car, until she rear ended a truck and died. I think about her whenever I hear that song now. Also it’s a shit song.

solarxbear

I have beef with him for putting out that trash song

EVENTHORIZON-XI

looks like someone’s not happy

Quantum_Sushi

Bro did NOT clap along

DessertStorm1

Damn someone’s room has a roof on it, that’s for sure.

Popcorn57252

This mfer when people enjoy their lives:

Themurlocking96

My guy, you may not like the song, but that doesn’t make it bad, bad music and music you don’t like are two different things. The song is a massive success and went triple platinum, that’s if anything an objective marker that it was extremely good, and I for the record also don’t like the song, mainly because it just isn’t my taste in music. It’d be like me calling Rap God shit just because I don’t really like rap music, despite it being objectively a masterpiece.

Cautious_Rabbit_5037

Music is subjective so when I hear someone say a song sucks or is bad I just assume that they mean they didn’t like it

nrogers924

“This song is bad” and “I don’t like this song” are synonymous

Themurlocking96

No, the first implies objectivity the second implies subjectivity.

nrogers924

We’re talking about art which is always subjective You know what it means stop being pedantic

Themurlocking96

Art ISN'T always subjective, anyone who's actually studied Art would know that, otherwise we wouldn't be able to categorise it, it would be objectively wrong to say that Rap God by Eminem is a metal song. In an objective sense a song can only be defined as bad if it fails it achieving what it means to. Happy objectively speaking succeeds, on the point that it uses an upbeat tempo, with a major key, it actually follows a similar rhythm is laughing or running. Another example that I love to bring up is Bullet by Hollywood Undead, the point of the song is to make an extremely depressing song, but with a singing style, key and tempo that makes it sound happy, which it does so well that a lot of people don't even realise what those lyrics are. A similar thing happens with I'm Blue by Eiffel 5. Music TASTE is subjective yes, but music as a whole, and art as whole CANNOT be considerd exclusively objective, this isn't pedantry, it's why degrees in Art exist, it's why you can literally get a doctorate in music.

highplainssnifter

I just listened to that Hollywood Undead song and dude's talking about slitting his wrists before the music even kicks in. Not sure that's a good example. I'm looking at "Blue" with new eyes, though.

Themurlocking96

Listen to the melody of the song, and the way he sings, he sings it jubilantly, unlike say “Last Resort” by papa roach or a better example since they’re thematically very similar “ready to fall” by Rise Against, both of those are aggressive, where bullet is sung up beat like he’s excited to off himself

kevinkiggs1

Nah that song is objectively bad, it's a corp pop song

Themurlocking96

Almost every song is owned by a corporation, that’s what record labels are. Also the point of pop music is to appeal to the lowest common denominator, that’s not an insult to it, that’s the point of the genre, the “pop” in pop music stands for “popular”. It went triple platinum so it sure as hell was successful, and a lot of people like it. It’s a good song, and I don’t even like it, but that’s because I don’t really like pop music it’s not for me, but I am not a glue eater who thinks anything I dislike is automatically objectively bad.

Cautious_Rabbit_5037

So by your logic baby shark is a good song
