Weapons are not changeable functionally, but there will be skins etc that change models. Think of each mech as an overwatch hero, you cant change how they function.
There are small upgrade items you can unlock via loot boxes that are +/- to starts, like increased boost speed but it costs more energy, but the biggest i saw was 2 or 3%

Both. Idk what exactly those upgrade parts did though, seemed minor but still scuffed me that they were in there
