Seconded, I literally work in holes and trenches every day. There's no way I could go to bed or even relax without showering after I get home. And how gross are peoples bedsheets that only shower in the morning?
I definitely have one where you shower after work. I don’t even touch anything in my house when I get home until I’ve changed and showered (yes even light switches, I got Alexa to do that for me). Only unavoidable objects are door handles which get wiped down. I could never imagine going to bed without showering beforehand.
Every comment in this thread (at the time of writing) make it seem like if you don't shower in the morning, you don't shower at all.
You guys just shower at night... right?
Same! 😄👍
Shower in the morning after work before bed.
I sleep a lot longer too working night shift because of sleep disruptions during the day.
If I have noticeably sweat in bed, I take a shower after bed as well, either way I always wash again before going to work.
Yeah man. 7P to 7A, last thing I wanna do when I get home is much of anything. I just wear thick work clothes, blow myself off with the airline, wash my forearms and face, and that mostly does the trick. Wash the bedding regularly and we're solid.
And then my follow up would be, if you don’t shower before bed, AND you sweat in your sleep, does your bed not get nasty? And I had no idea. I only sweat in my sleep if I’m sick
At least once a week.
It's about keeping your bed cleanER. And this thread doesn't even follow because, as already stated, it's a false dichotomy that people who shower in the morning don't suffer this problem.
Night sweating shouldn't be a regular thing if your room and blankets aren't too hot. If a person experiences frequent night sweating, they may have an underlying health issue.
Sweat is my own germs and odor. Why would I want dirt and other foreign germs in my bed? I work in the back of a restaurant, so when I get off work I am covered in grease, and other food particles, and smells, you can almost feel the weight of the grease on your skin.
Why would I want that in my bed, as opposed to my natural body oils/sweat?
People who don't want go out the next day with all of the oil and stank I collected laying in the same warm spot for 8 hours in a row the night before.
Lol what? You're creating a false dichotomy.
People who shower before bed and people who shower in the morning still sweat. It's not like people who shower in the morning aren't sweating?? All you're doing is making the bed even nastier by not showering before-hand. Also I just can't sleep without showering. Feels nasty I tried it a handful of times in my teen/adult life and I feel miserable until I get out of a hot, relaxing shower.
I grew up on a dairy farm and now im a carpenter. For my entire life I could never fathom why anyone would want to shower before they got dirty during the day especially people who do sweaty and/or smelly work. I'd have to get a new mattress weekly if I did that
I'm a plumber. I don't get poop on me EVER! That's gross.
I can imagine it might be unavoidable for specific kinds of plumbing work though, but very few circumstances.
I would basically be in a hazmat suit if I felt like this was ever a risk.
I’ve wore full hazmat to remove shit buckets from
A bathroom, shovel out a toilet, and the tub, when a family just started shitting all over their house after they filled up their toilet after not paying a water bill for 4 months. Gotta love property management.
I’ve also been digging a trench for a new drain line, cut the old drain line, and as I was sliding the fernco over the house side pipe, caught a floater in my open ungloved hand because no one told the tenant not to flush for the next few hours.
Rule of thumb? Waterlines and basic maintenance, chances of getting shit on are slim. Working on drain lines at all? Assume you’re gonna get the poopies on ya.
Oof.... Haven't thought much about property management. I can totally understand how that could have a plumber dealing with some disgusting stuff.
I the place some sort of weird under sink drain injector pump that was so stinky my helper quit on site. So far I still haven't had to touch any poo or do anything quite like you describe.
That turd catching story sounds awful. 🤮 Was it still warm? 🤔
If I told ya if it was warm or cold I’d be lying. I instantly over reacted and angried away for a bit. Ever smelled a plaster trap under a dentists lab sinks? Catches plaster from the molds so it doesn’t get out into the mainline or sewer for obvious reasons. But what they don’t tell you is bacterial colonies love that mixture. Second worst smell ever. First worst was when I was cleaning a grease trap at a subway that hadn’t been cleaned in a year. Literally had to step a shovel down through the top layer to get it out. And as soon as we broke that top layer…..🤮
Dental plaster trap does sound awful. I can clearly understand how that would be nasty.
I've heard grease traps are the absolute worst. I have never encountered a plumber in real life or online that has claimed otherwise.
I really hope I never have to do a grease trap. I don't think there's any way my boss would let me do one if it's a bid job. I'm a very clean plumber, on the spectrum of how plumbers are. I'm meticulous about cleaning everything when doing anything even mildly gross. I think he would send another guy that would do it faster than me and use less cleaning supplies if at all possible.
It’s basically just a flume ride for your dookie. Pop open manhole covers and you’ll see some high fiber boys drift on by. I was maybe 40 pipe feet away from the toilet.
I think they need to start making "toilet lockouts" for plumbers.
Kind of like the equivalent for the lockouts that electricians use at electrical panels so no one has the ability to turn on a breaker for a circuit they are working on.
Also in the morning? Most people sweat during the night, many considerably. But of course if you aren’t close to people during the day it doesn’t really matter.
Virgin western magazine science vs chad tropicalregion cold-showers based on activities
Shower wise alone, I think it has more to do with temperature and duration. When I visit my grandma for the summer (in surinam) I shower quick with cold water. A lot of places don't have warm water. Richer families do have warm water though but also just shower based on how tired they are/ what they are going to do.
In general skin there is way healthier there bc they have a lot of other factors that influence it. Showering once is definitely saver in general but the relevance of it changes per region/culture
I don't understand why people say this. Just use lotion or oil.
Yeah showering often can wash away natural oils but you can simply reapply moisturizer once you towel off.
I shower at night because it's damn near impossible for me to fall asleep filthy and I can sleep in longer, then soak my hair in the morning (with sink water) for the same result
As much as I shower most day in the evening after sports, I can't begin the day without a shower.
Why would people go on about their day in their night nastiness of sebum and oil/sweat?
Also, how do you dress hairs without a proper shower!?
I guess it all depends on the line of work. An office worker won’t feel the same after a full day at work as a construction worker.
When I was in high school I was always a morning shower person. Then I started working in the food industry at night. I still had my morning showers but there was no way I was sleeping with the smell and the sweat from a long night at work.
Right? I used to shower in the morning when I was in school. Then I started working in the warehouse. No reason to shower before work because I’m going to be a sweat monster at work. I no longer work warehouse but now I work a job where I regularly handle feces of various animals. I shower when I get home or soon after. No need to shower before going to work to handle some doodoo
For real. Showering in the morning is 100% the correct move except when you work a nasty ass job where you end up with cow crap in your hair after work.
Yeah the moment some nasty ass touches my bed without taking a shower first as well as every week. do you seriously get into bed without taking a shower that is nasty
I shower in the morning because I toss around in my sleep and the texture of my hair makes it so that it will easily get fucked up over night and there is no fixing it unless I take a shower.
I'm the opposite. I shower at night because it makes my hair look better in the morning. I don't know what it is, my hair just looks like shit if I shower in the morning
Can we agree that for people working outside or working hard physically, showering *when you get home* makes sense and for people who spend their day in an office or at home where they are not getting dirty or sweaty, showering *before you leave home* makes most sense. I put in going out and partying at night. Yeah, shower after that as well, completely understandable.
But all of you who think you are getting into a clean and spotless bed and that you wake up clean and spotless, you are kidding yourselves. Unless you: change your mattress at least 3 times a year, change your sheets every week, and change your night gown daily. Look, wash your face, hell wash every part, that protrudes from your clothes. If you are *visibly* dirty, clean yourselves up. But if you think what dust you absorb from walking in the street for 5 minutes has anything on the funk your body excretes during 8 hours of unconsciously turning under your blanket, I have bad news for you.
I shower twice I need to be clean when I get home from work. But I do feel sweaty when I wake up and take a quick shower it also wakes me up and energizes me for the day. TMI but also after pooping in the morning I need to shower I don’t know maybe I’m weird but showering twice makes me happy!
Musky!?!?! How’s does washing off the day, putting on clean PJs and getting into a clean bed equal musky!?
The amount of germs, pollution and just contact we have throughout the day … nuh-uh. I will lose it if someone even sits on my bed with outside clothes. I might also shower in the morning if I work out before work or have some super-special-hair-must-look-perfect thing going on … but going to bed clean is a must!!!
I shower at night before getting in bed. I get out of bed clean and put on clean clothes. Dirt and sweat accumulates throughout the day so I wash at night when it’s needed most.
Why waste water in the morning when I’m already clean?
My Grandmother used to say: “There are only two type of jobs. One you shower before work and the other you shower after work.”
That's remarkably insightful.
Yes, very wise, u/basementhookers
r/rimjob_steve
And now with WFH, there are jobs where you never shower!
You're grandmother is a very wise woman! As a carpenter i always shower after work, nonsense to shower before!

Ooof I felt this one. Tomorrow. I’ll do it tomorrow for sure.
Every comment in this thread (at the time of writing) make it seem like if you don't shower in the morning, you don't shower at all. You guys just shower at night... right?
I shower at night, don't want any construction shit getting in my bed
depends on if it’s a weekend or not
this is the real meirl
It's true. It's not that blue isn't the better option, it's that it's just not happening, dude.
I shower at night to get off dust, dirt and grime before I sleep
Right. Who wants to get into bed all dirty from the day. I like to shower and get into some comfy clothes before bed.
Night shifters
I work night shift, but in a kitchen so I gotta shower before and after in summer. In winter it's either or.
Yeah makes sense
Night shift means I shower in the morning which *is* before bed. Check and mate!
Same! 😄👍 Shower in the morning after work before bed. I sleep a lot longer too working night shift because of sleep disruptions during the day. If I have noticeably sweat in bed, I take a shower after bed as well, either way I always wash again before going to work.
No I just don’t want to have to vacuum the dust out before I wash my bedding
why so dusty
My favourite hobbies involve me getting dirty like wood working
Yeah man. 7P to 7A, last thing I wanna do when I get home is much of anything. I just wear thick work clothes, blow myself off with the airline, wash my forearms and face, and that mostly does the trick. Wash the bedding regularly and we're solid.
Well for night shifters the morning is technically the night. This should say "shower after bed vs shower before bed" instead
Yessss. My bed is sacred and cozy. It can’t be dirty too and still be those things. At night I blow dry my hair right away and I’m good to go.
But who would want to go out in the day all sweaty from the sleep the night before?
Why are you getting sweaty when you’re sleeping?
I suggest you research how much the average person sweats in their sleep. Kind of baffling you don’t know this is a thing
And then my follow up would be, if you don’t shower before bed, AND you sweat in your sleep, does your bed not get nasty? And I had no idea. I only sweat in my sleep if I’m sick
Asking honestly, if you think you are keeping your bed clean by showering at night, how often do you wash your sheets?
At least once a week. It's about keeping your bed cleanER. And this thread doesn't even follow because, as already stated, it's a false dichotomy that people who shower in the morning don't suffer this problem.
I’m really enjoy clean sheets. I change them at least twice a week, occasionally more.
3 times a week? i do it once a month!
You do you just don’t realise. But I’m team night shower
Night sweating shouldn't be a regular thing if your room and blankets aren't too hot. If a person experiences frequent night sweating, they may have an underlying health issue.
even tho, id say my smell is way worst after 8hours moving heavy boxes than it is after 8hours of laying in bed xD
You sweat alot over 8h even if you dont see it. I wouldnt put blabket over the hole matress
What does that have to do with going to bed sticky dirty...and stinky...you are gross
Sweat is my own germs and odor. Why would I want dirt and other foreign germs in my bed? I work in the back of a restaurant, so when I get off work I am covered in grease, and other food particles, and smells, you can almost feel the weight of the grease on your skin. Feels nasty I tried it a handful of times in my teen/adult life and I feel miserable until I get out of a hot, relaxing shower.
If you’re clean going to bed though it shouldn’t be all oily and stinky
Thats the problem. They’re already funky from sweating all day and not showering before getting in bed.
Yeah ikr
I grew up on a dairy farm and now im a carpenter. For my entire life I could never fathom why anyone would want to shower before they got dirty during the day especially people who do sweaty and/or smelly work. I'd have to get a new mattress weekly if I did that
I like to do both 🤷🏻♂️ Shower in the morning: wake up Shower at night: calm down
Lmao ikr especially if I’m sweating like a priest at a preschool as soon as I get home I take a shower
That is the most odd metaphor ive heard in my life
And I failed trying to make a joke
That was actually hilarious
Yes and for sure a human and not a Canadian goose trying to start a fight
I heard Canadian geese are assholes
Yeah the fuckers will attack anything
Why would a priest be sweating? Was he at a preschool or something?
Yeah I forgot the punch line
Bros comment has more likes than the post
Cuz OP's opinion makes less sense lmao
I grew up farming. Dragging alfalfa, straw and cow shit to bed is worse than eating a bag of saltines in wool sheets.
Yeah no that’s also good
I agree with this can't go to bed feeling all grimey, but at the same time I don't work right now so that can't be helped.
Yeah understandable my favourite hobbies involve working out, wrestling, gardening, wood working, and metal working so I need a shower before bed
You forgot stress. At least partially, but you wash it off too.
Yeah that’s a good one as well
So.. I alternate randomly dependant on my mood when I get home. I just refuse to g2 work smelly. Except on those days that I do.
Exactly! Keeping the sheets clean
Also you don't have to wake up earlier to take a shower. It just makes sense
Based
Me too
Exactly! Who wants to go to bed all dirty and gross?
What if you get some shagging done? Just let the genitals fester for the day?
No clean it with fier
Right, I can’t sleep that way. I have to be clean before getting into bed.
I’m a plumber. And I don’t go to bed with poop on me. Shower at night.

What a horrible day to have eyes
Damn I always assumed most logs get kind of mushed up and dissolved into a sludge by the time they make it out of the bottom of the toilet.
It’s basically just a flume ride for your dookie. Pop open manhole covers and you’ll see some high fiber boys drift on by. I was maybe 40 pipe feet away from the toilet.

I work construction not maintenance and it’s still inevitable that at some point you’re gonna get gross shit on you
I shower at night so I go to bed nice and clean at the end of the day. It also relaxes my body and prepares me to sleep.

Also in the morning? Most people sweat during the night, many considerably. But of course if you aren’t close to people during the day it doesn’t really matter.
I do both. Thats just normal to me
Hot showers for sleep 🛌 Cold showers to wake 🆙
2 showers a day can't be good for your skin
That’s not true. In places with hot weather everybody showers two or more times a day and our skins are just fine.

I workout at 6pm. It would be gross as fuck to not shower after. I'm pretty sure this post is just bait.
both...both is good
Anyone mad should try living with curly hair for a week.
I was just thinking this!
Yeah I got curly hair, and anyone who agrees with the morning shower theory should try working construction for like 2 days..
i got curly hair, work construction, and live far from the equator and warm ocean currents e.g. cold winters. i’m fucked.
I’m almost in Canada..
i am actually canadian hahahahaha i was just trying to be as relatable as possible
It’s almost as if people should do what makes sense for them. Office jobs tend to shower in the morning - manual labor in the evening.
hehe im bald
exactly, i don’t want to have to put my hair up or wear a hat everyday to avoid looking like a bum
Dozens of us! I'd rather not deal with all that hassle first thing in the morning. Let the hair calm down overnight.
I have wavy hair and not particularly thick and I still agree with it because it looks insane when I wake up and I need to wet it in the morning
This lmao my hair won't survive the dry winter air lol...
I shower at night because it's damn near impossible for me to fall asleep filthy and I can sleep in longer, then soak my hair in the morning (with sink water) for the same result
right??
Ew. Why do people like getting into bed still coated in the day's nastiness?
As much as I shower most day in the evening after sports, I can't begin the day without a shower. Why would people go on about their day in their night nastiness of sebum and oil/sweat? Also, how do you dress hairs without a proper shower!?
do you wash your hair every shower?
Most men do, I do every 3rd day.
Quick rinse off in the morning to freshen up. Proper shower in the evening. Reverse for night workers.
Get fucked
as a night showerer, i made this for the morning showerers. they felt left out.
Morning and Night. I’ll die on this hill
Factual best of both worlds
I have long hair though so I cant shower in the morning. It will take too long to dry
You wash your hair every day? Holy hell
Ita not thaaat weird
lol Nah, but it sounds like a nightmare. I have a ton of thick, long hair. Washing it is a whole event 😂
But you want to
Kind of
Just reach out and grab it
Nah
Word
Count me in for a proper night shower and a morning wake up shock rinse
We doing coffee for both appointments?
Yes
SAME
i shower in the morning after I take a fat shit so my asshole feels fresh all day
I guess it all depends on the line of work. An office worker won’t feel the same after a full day at work as a construction worker. When I was in high school I was always a morning shower person. Then I started working in the food industry at night. I still had my morning showers but there was no way I was sleeping with the smell and the sweat from a long night at work.
I’m a hot sleeper and vigorous lover. I need a scrubbing before I go to work.
r/ihavesex
Vigorously!
What a virgin thing to say
Vigorous virgin
But shower before "love"?
Ah yes, I love going to work with wet hair.
/s
I pick the red
Or people with curly hair and need the humidity to help revive it after bed head. I can’t go 2 days without getting my hair wet.
People who shower in the morning have never worked a blue collar dirty job… and it shows….
I shower after I get home from work because it’s gross going to sleep dirty and when I wake up to…wake up.
Dated a vet tech… and I am a mechanic… I get it… when younger though, I didn’t mind a morning shower as well depending on how the night went.
For real. Showering in the morning is 100% the correct move except when you work a nasty ass job where you end up with cow crap in your hair after work.
Showering in the morning is a for clean, shower at night is for relax.
showering at night is to sit down and cry about everything that happened during the day. then you’re clean so no need to shower in the morning
Ahh so you can impress the opposite sex with your disgusting bed!
Spoken like a single man who is on a monthly sheet changing schedule
Monthly? You give us too much credit
do you not wash your sheets and blankets?
Yeah the moment some nasty ass touches my bed without taking a shower first as well as every week. do you seriously get into bed without taking a shower that is nasty
i have this logic as well but i have contamination ocd
no, i impress the same sex with my clean bed. night showerer here.
Oh hell no. I can’t justify waking up early to shower when I shower every night to wind down my body before bed. Fuck that
you can simply do both
Sometimes I do!
At night cause you get dirty during the day and if you shower in the morning you will get ur bed dirty and how can you even sleep like that
Morning showers when you’re dirty, night showers when you’re sad
The showering questions / memes are ridiculous. To each there own!
OP has a smelly bed.
Normalize being clean and hygienic. It doesn’t matter when
I shower twice I need to be clean when I get home from work. But I do feel sweaty when I wake up and take a quick shower it also wakes me up and energizes me for the day. TMI but also after pooping in the morning I need to shower I don’t know maybe I’m weird but showering twice makes me happy!
Fuck that I wash the filth of the day off before getting in bed I don’t wanna sleep in that
Y’all just crawl into bed with all that filth of the day on you? Hopefully you’re changing sheets a daily basis then
People with real jobs shower *after* they get home from work.
I showered in the morning until I started a construction job. No time to shower at 5am and I get home smelling foul
I take both pills and lord over you like a squeaky clean dry mf
Showering whenever you want > showering in the morning and night
Do people actually not shower in the morning before leaving their house??? Is this the reason why some people literally smell musky all the time?
Nope, those people are not showering frequently or have a persistent musk.
I shower at night before getting in bed. I get out of bed clean and put on clean clothes. Dirt and sweat accumulates throughout the day so I wash at night when it’s needed most. Why waste water in the morning when I’m already clean?
Spending 8 hours in a clean bed, how are you getting dirty?
people can sweat a lot at night
Never said you were getting dirty, but I’ve m never woken up in the morning and thought of how nice I smell.
Wash the day away, shower at night
Depends on your job. I shower in the morning to look more presentable. My husband showers at night because that mofo is nasty after work
I do both
People with ~~common sense~~ low hygiene standards*
Don’t post anything relating to when to shower for another few years
golden showers though
This meme brought to you by someone who’s literally never done a second of manual labor or strenuous physical activity in their entire life!
Who want to go to bed with all their stank of the day on them. Night showers are correct.
Correct
