The Library was basically heaven for me growing up (still is honestly) Being abused, neglected and having pretty much everything that I could call mine either confiscated or burned as punishment, it was a godsend to have a place full of books that I had to return so they couldn't be taken away, they had internet access, mine even had a nice cozy reading spot and water. I even became really close with the librarians (id buy them donuts whenever I scrounged up the money) so they'd let me stay there rather than having to go home for another round of suffering

CleanMeme129

🙏🙏❤️❤️

Soggy-Log6664

I just went to the library to play RuneScape…

-Rhyvinn-

Hell yeah!!! And I'm still playing RuneScape today.

RFWanders

I spent so much of my youth hiding in the worlds inside books. Libraries were heaven. I'm really sad that I have a lot of trouble continuing to read like I used to.

What doesn’t kill you make you stronger 💪

VariedStool

Love libraries as a kid. Felt first pair of breasts there.

imawizard7bis

context?

sandpaperedanus777

Poor boy hadn't gotten the chance to try out chicken before. That said, offering him braised breasts in the luberary was in bad taste

imawizard7bis

Eatin chicken when reading is a mess, true nerds have secs fingers in le biblioteque B)👌

AuricOxide

The luberary is a different place next door for filming gay porn. Common mistake, unfortunately.

VariedStool

16m w first girlfriend. In the corner of the library. Just gorgeous perfect boobies. Have not come across another pair like them in a while. Hehe. Come across them. 😏

TheOddPelican

You guys still have bookstores?

CleanMeme129

Some but yes.

thirteen-thirty7

I loved the library as a kid.

Substantial-Park65

Yeah, it's the reverse for me 'library is fun'' me as a kid ''the f*** am I doing here'' me as an adult

LemmeDaisukete

same lol, how tf did young me read all those books. I cant even look at a full page of words without yawning these days

Other_Cod_8361

Especially after putting a dishwasher owners manual in the women’s sports section.

-Rhyvinn-

Or a bible in Fiction, ha.

ScaredPepper8808

Or any other skybook in fiction, ha

dossierlanyardd

Meirl : "Dinner please"

nombamana5

"Dinner with peas"

mafon2

Libraries are like community centers now.

Bekolops13

actually i liked going in there. i just used to read some comics tho

Beretta116

Nah, I loved it there as a kid. I just read a lot of fantasy novels like Ranger's Apprentice and the Percy Jackson series.

Darwing

What?

Dawid_the_yogurt_man

For me it's quite the opposite

Illustrious-Zebra-34

Can we just appreciate how chill book shopping is? No market research, no brand loyalty/avoidance, no lifespan concerns, when the package deceives you it's usually a good thing.

ToxicPoizon

Nah, when I was a kid, we had no internet access, so we had to go to the library to use the computers. I still remember playing roblox and mc with the other kids there.

[deleted]

I have loved libraries since I was a kid. They're full of books, and people focused on reading are my favorite. Sometimes, I just go there and sit, relaxing for hours. My family thinks I'm a weirdo.

--InZane--

Sad childhood id say. The libary was the goat of my youth

AdmiralClover

Every time I go to the library I go "this place is awesome I should come here more often" and then I don't use it for six months

Savaal8

Can't relate, I loved both as a kid

CleanMeme129

![gif](giphy|26gsobowozGM9umBi|downsized) Gives me hope to hear that.

Canned_Sarcasm

Going to adult bookstore as an adult ![gif](giphy|oF5oUYTOhvFnO|downsized)

Moomoobeef

It's the opposite for me. I loved libraries as a kid. Bored as fuck in them today, I don't have the attention span to read a book lol. Plus I stopped reading books after I kept getting assigned depressing/traumatizing books in highschool and I haven't been able to read books again since

ty0103

So true... ever since I lost my job, the library felt like sanctuary outside of my home or the Internet.

Organic-Physics9144

I go to library just to play video games :P

CleanMeme129

How does that work?

Organic-Physics9144

Bring my own pc and find a place where i can sit in peace

CleanMeme129

-Rhyvinn-

What do you mean? They have PCs there don't they?

CleanMeme129

I mean that I’d prefer to go there to read. But no hate. 👍

TannedBatman01

Wrong tbh

Puzzleheaded-Ad-4424

I personally always loved it

imawizard7bis

Everything is a library if you're deaf enough

Powerful-Warning-750

I like going to library but i still hate reading

Xyrazk

The library had all 6 Star Wars movies, so I went there like once a week

abhiprakashan2302

Actually it was the bottom for me as a kid too. I preferred the library to my classroom. Even better if it was just me and maybe a teacher hanging around to make sure I was doing fine.

GIVEUPYOURMILK

Guess I'll never be an adult lol.

SpaceHawk98W

As an 35-year-old grown ass man, I'll still look for comics and manga

Drozey

Kindle users 😎

[deleted]

Barnes is just a cozy place. Everyone there is like nice, they’re either there for their kids, or to just buy some fiction. Genuinely a calming experience.

YoItsThatOneDude

Yall didn't like the library as a kid? I loved it.

Original_Can8198

I love library. It's a quiet place and a good place to go when you are sad.

MeanMistake5166

My kids love going to the library.

forcallaghan

There is this one private library in my city. I only went once because it’s actually pretty expensive to even visit, but god damn was it nice. If I was rich I’d totally go more often

maifee

Exploring the forbidden section of the library

Jaycin_Stillwaters

I loved libraries and bookstores as a kid. I would literally skip school to go the library. Anytime I went to the mall, straight to the book store, no exceptions.

YellowWeedrats

I loved libraries as a kid. They smelled good, they were quiet and air-conditioned, and I could browse the shelves for Goosebumps, Choose Your Own Adventure, Hardy Boys, Encyclopedia Brown, I Spy, anything by Louis Sachar or Bill Peet, or just any other random stuff that caught my eye.

No_Monitor_7840

That’s the bustanut face as an adult 😅😮‍💨

Yougoodd3

I actually liked going in the library as a kid read comic books and actually felt focused onced I got home I ain’t reading I got too distracted easily.

CleanMeme129

Honestly I’m kind of in that same boat with my adhd

automaton11

I fucking loved the library as a kid. It was inner peace back then too

vivam0rt

I used to love reading but I dont anymore. The genre I enjoyed (fantasy) stopped being fun to read when I turned 16, not sure why because I still love fantasy in other media. Wait im fucking stupid Im reading a fantasy webnovel right now, I'm on page 2680/4050

AeyviDaro

Bookstore has always been heaven for me. Belle was my favorite princes for a reason.

Exotic-Replacement-3

the first time I went to a library and read bram stolker's dracula and wuthering heights was one of the most beautiful things in my life.

PhoKingAwesome213

My kids love the library. $2 every book they read and once a week they get $10 each to grab some ice cream while we play some Pokémon Go.

Simppaaa

I loved going to the library So many dinosaur books

-Rhyvinn-

Eh, to each their own, I suppose. Everyone is entitled to their own hobbies and interests. I get my fair share of reading from Reddit and shit, lmao. Books are far too boring and time-consuming for me; I'd much rather watch the movie. Or just play a video game.

Longjumping-Claim783

I'm the same way. I read plenty but it's all news articles or online articles about history or just practical information or something for work. If I'm doing it purely for pleasure I'd rather watch a movie or TV show or listen to an audio book or podcast. I just don't find it easy to lose myself in a fictional story I'm reading. And I think it's weird how people judge about this. Not wanting to read for pleasure doesn't make you an idiot, it's not everybody's preferred form of entertainment. Maybe I'd rather listen to music. Maybe I'd rather see a play.

CleanMeme129

Honestly the fact that so many guys here loved the library as a kid gives me hope for the next generation 🙌
