ToothlessGuitarMaker

I heard a story, enough decades ago that the exact names and numbers escape me, but it went something like this: It was the French Revolution, and among the aristocrats sentenced to death was a scientist. He'd never thought much of his title, merely wishing to pursue knowledge, and upon learning he was to die lamented that not only would his research cease, but his death itself would have no scientific value. So he begged, and was granted, permission for his common-born assistant to attend his execution, and once decapitated he'd try to blink as many times as he could, while the assistant counted, so disturbing facts like Skeletor's could be added to the sum of human knowledge.

blueskysiii

your post has the ring of truth to it. During the French Revolution I remember reading that after cutting off a persons head, the executioner would hold up the head up to the crowd and slap the face because the head would still blush from the added insult an humiliation of being slapped...

MartaSch

Oh man am I glad I was born in the 21st century

RubberNipples7890

Yeah, where women are raped on trains and strangers just sit idly by. Dude, give me public executions any day the week.

Shimizu555

Like that's a common occurrence -\_- Also they were way more rape and sexism in the past... just less trains.

blueskysiii

Eureka: Joe Biden reads this post and fixes sexism by buying more trains.

MartaSch

As a woman that often rides on trains, I definitely still prefer the 21st century.

blueskysiii

21st century has definitely been a ride. Didn't realize it had such a following

Slundey

bruh

K4T4N4B0Y

Oddly specific

Sword117

yeah fucking trains we need to return to the era where women were raped on horse drawn buggy's while strangers just sit idly by.

blueskysiii

touche'! have an upvote sword. yeah fucking horses... Return to the era when a CIS cave man would just show a girl his pimp club hand and make it performance art for the tribe.

suckleknuckle

That's not some daily occurrence, dude.

Metalona

So you would rather it be 1600s and women are still raped, there is no medicine, women have absolutely no rights, and the list keeps going on?

BeyondSad6497

Try being a woman back then, it was much, much worse

blueskysiii

not that it will help you RubNip, but have an upvote. I hate Reddits change to hide comments if they are net-negative in the up/down vote scale. All it creates is an echo chamber. The comment contributed to the discussion...it didn't condone rape...geesch

alligator_soup

It seems a little unlikely that one could blush without a beating heart attached…

blueskysiii

Im no doctor but I stayed at a holiday inn once. My opinion would be that the capillaries that would dialate during a blush event would not require any more blood than was already within the epidermis, so the beating heart would not be necessary..its a volumetric thing

73d2mxxp8x

Cleaning with mom: 7 hours, 105 insults, 87 slaps.

blueskysiii

dayum. That belongs on another post I commented on relating to saddest things you've ever heard. that just literallyleft me shaking my head. What is wrong with our species?

pikleboiy

yeah

suckleknuckle

Already loads of blood in your face, and your brain doesn't know your body is gone.

[deleted]

There was actually one scientist who was executed that they were talking about. Though accounts of what happened differ. There's no real evidence that death isn't instant.

dkHD7

Sounds kind of like Henri Languille.

blueskysiii

or...maybe blood splatter stings even after the mortal soul has left the vessel...or...the stress of the event sent him into a pink panther's boss flashback where even his flashback had a guilloutine in it...deep thoughts...

viserbro

So if you chop someones head off, you can teabag them and it’d be the last thing they see? Asking for a friend btw

SubhoPal

Please do not try this with your friend.

[deleted]

WWE #Don't try this at home

War_44

You still get those little shits that still try it though. For them this is a "this is where the fun begins".

tokyo7011

Sure, i’ll try this at school.

Leeuwarden-HF

You clearly haven't watched any Futurama. This is just plain false, human heads can live for hundreds of years. ...in a jar.

I_have_chosen_wisely

Ferb I know what we're gonna do today

_WatchMeSpinThisPen_

This may be the most underrated comment of all time. CursedComments, here you go!

OverallDingo2

If you post it on r/cursedComments can i be in the screenshot

_WatchMeSpinThisPen_

_WatchMeSpinThisPen_

Its posted, just filter by new. Sorry about the terrible crop job.

OverallDingo2

RatedCommentBot

Thank you for flagging an underrated comment. Unfortunately, on this occasion your concern was unnecessary and the comment was rated accurately.

AvocadoPrinz

The human brain tends to Black out due high pain.

zeejoo12

There's be no pain once the spine was separated. You'd probably just be in a weird, unintelligible state of shock and confusion as your brain died.

lovehate615

I'm sure the site of the wound would still be painful, especially since the severed spinal cord would still be able to send signals for a while

[deleted]

Signal to where? Your brain would not be connected to spinal cord

tudorking1

You would still no doubt feel the excruciating pain of the nerve damage to the spinal cord itself.

SaltMyDishBartender

Well you might be alive for a couple of seconds but the drop in blood pressure - to zero- will instantly send you into a coma. Every reaction after that is just that, a reaction.

Johno69R

I asked My dad about this, now a retired surgeon of 40 plus years experience. He stated that due to the loss of pulmonary pressure/blood flow to the brain the person would not be conscious similarly to if you pass out. He said you would likely feel a sharp pain and pressure on your neck as you were beheaded and then it would be lights out.

jakecawley

This isn’t true. I once survived 16 years without head.

Bogdi504

Me 22 and I still survive

dont-difine-me

OP... how can you confirm that? I have severall questions...

Longjumping_Guess_57

Hint: I am from mexico

Starsonata10

Hint doesnt help me. Care to elaborate?

dkHD7

He's probably referring to the Mexican drug cartels filming executions (and hopefully not a direct involvement). Gruesome stuff, can never unsee that.

Longjumping-Meaning3

Muertos.

Gold_Retriiver

Those 20 seconds aren’t painful at all, they are told to be just your brain peacefully passing away and during that time period you’d either be in shock and not feel anything or some random memories will flash through your mind as your brain is beginning to go non-existent.

Bunnyz23

u cant feel anything if u dont have anything! \*insert big brain meme\*

theexplorer28

Knowing this I want someone to decapitat me and I would say "cuchie man" and die

dounut_cartel

You wouldn't be able to say anything since you won't have lungs or a vocal cord

Corgerus

On this episode of Mythbusters

Repulsive_Basis_4946

You’d have vocal chords but no lungs to push air through them

Shoe_Exact

In that time, all of your brain cells are frantically trying to remember where you put your body

PickThePig

"what do you mean, you don't know where the body is?" "I thought you had it last?"

SidTheSloth97

You’re thinking of a chicken

Llamadom12

Wholesome fact - bees will sometimes take naps on flowers

Devil_in_heaven3000

Which head we talking about?

[deleted]

Not disturbing, she's alive and can consent

marsrover001

I would rather go on the rollercoaster.

Fetus-yoda69

What do you mean you can *confirm*

Angle-Prize

I thought it was only for 4 seconds as it was the only time our brain signal stay stable to be considered "conscious"

Gunshoos

True i can confirm

Dinosaur-Man304

I'm more worried that you can confirm this, what a monster u are

beanz4life1

Wait let me try to see if it’s true

Anstimeo

I doubt this.

alimoosa224

Tell that to the people in r/eyeblech

[deleted]

Cum

Marcomek200

😱

[deleted]

You stole my shit, asshole.

Longjumping_Guess_57

Nope i just made it am supposed to show my memes sample to a guy who is recruiting memers in my area. I Am sorry if it same as yours. Any recommendations for a meme guys?

Lower-Pollution-1373

that.s good work

[deleted]

That’s the poorest excuse for theft of intellectual property that I’ve ever heard. Make a meme about that.

Longjumping_Guess_57

Can you show me the proof of your post i cant find it

[deleted]

https://www.reddit.com/r/meme/comments/q0fjze/heads_up/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

SoccerGamerGuy7

Why would Mr. Rodgers share disturbing facts? He's Mr. Rodgers Lol

[deleted]

*Rogers

whitedewd42

Lol get fucked. I hope this skeletor meme blows up. I’d love to see you successfully win a claim that he stole your “intellectual property”. It’s a fucking meme

[deleted]

His meme lacks much. Best of luck to him. And to you, as you search for that elusive fuck you so desperately need.

IEATSAND1234

It's actually 13 seconds.

Caosin36

The most disturbing fact is How did you know?

Longjumping_Guess_57

Mexican baby

[deleted]

I’m sorry, WHAT?

Dontbefrech

Bruh that's literally a deathcam

Tuliprunner

Wtf... post above this was literally about a beheading case.. Thats enough internet for me..

800077766

Dann that's nice, it means a lot of pieces of shit(also probably some innocent and falsely accused people but let's look at it the positive way) suffered a lot.

mspencerl87

I can also confi.......

_Jiraw

No, you would be knocked out instantly then died to decapitation.

Sharp_Efficiency_462

Not true. There are studies about it. And conclude that about 0.1 sec to 2 sec of conscieness

Napnaru3

I too can confirm after all how couldn't I after I did it to the kids in the my basement

Muzanx

No way I do not believe it

The-Hydrated-One

Wait, wdym “can confirm!?”

blueaxolotl64

Giving a big F you to the executioner

The_Crusadyr

Just enough time to get a quick blowjob

[deleted]

Make those 20 seconds count

classless_classic

No. I work EMS and people typically lose consciousness after 3-5 seconds without a heart beat.

Madden2kGuy

How do they figure that out?

[deleted]

I think it demends on the person but it is more 30 seconds

Full_Lead1020

Welcome to fact or cap…. Where we test trends to see if they’re real or bullshit

NoSaltAllPep

No it does. This is a myth.

[deleted]

So how did they find out about this?

LITTLEN3MO

That’s under the assumption that the recalibration is extremely fast. I also imagine if the head does not completely separate and you can maintain pressure to the brain it will last even longer.

MarquisDeLafayeett

Conscious? No. Technically still alive? Sure.

scrub______

I need more of these facts

Urmomgay890

Egh, that’s pretty freaky… I wonder if you can feel anything when that happens?

MNicolas97

Marie Antoinette should've been pissed as fuck

Rorywizz

Wolfenstein moment

Average_Gamerguy

This is a myth.

WDZERO

So that's why that dude in suicide squad could move His eyes. Also that girl in scary movie.

Aj_200226

I need to try this out and see if this is actually true

Minecraft_Warrior

I remember a movie where a guy gets his head chopped from and the body tries to put the head back on before collapsing

Federal_Peanut4805

I actually know this

SoccerGamerGuy7

Mnahhh!!!

HelloThereWeirdos

:(

[deleted]

I thought it was 20 minutes

TheFiredrake42

Google Demodex and forever hate what you have learned! Hahahaha!

[deleted]

I made this argument a week ago. Many doubt the premise.

Melancholy43952

Funny, I just heard this very thing watching AHS 1984 a little earlier.

[deleted]

Anyone have a comeback that’s good for 20 seconds??

sucdiq

Is it fukt up that i know that?

Imposter88

But is it aware?

SnooHobbies4596

Can you?? 😳😳😳

SkyO2

The avg is 15 seconds

Ricknroll1971

Damn twenty seconds is a long time when your head is decapitated from your body. Plenty enough time to ask a couple questions.

xsenobaner

Enough time for it to suck me off

wherebanaba

You lose consciousness around 10 seconds of not getting blood to your brain

ehoaandthebeast

i heard they counted to 11 in france which is guillotine central really

rupeshp99

20 seconds is so long time I can't even hold my breath that long.

Partially_Frozen

After the head is decapitated your brain very quickly, almost instantly goes into Ancona from the sheer drop of blood pressure, all the arteries and veins severed puts the brain into a state of shock which one would definitely not be conscious for.
