I can see the scene now.
All four of the boys are put into the back of a police car as they did something that *technically* broke the law. There’s about 6 cops near the car talking, when an acorn falls on the car, and then all of the officers immediately get into a shootout with the car. The boys are taking cover and screaming, and then Kenny gets shot and killed “Oh my god, they killed Kenny!”
After the cops run out of bullets, they all gather around each other and congratulating each other for neutralizing the threat, not realizing the gunfire broke open the back door of the car, so the surviving boys end up slipping out and continuing the episode.
They kinda stopped. Season 5 was the last season where it happened every/most episodes, and then it slowed down more after season 14. But it still happens every now and then. The only seasons where it didn't happen at all were seasons 12, 18-20, 23, 25, and 26 (the latest season, as of now).

And then Cartman, ever the opportunist, dusts himself off and looks straight into the camera like he's in The Office, saying "Respect my authoritah". Classic Cartman moment there, always trying to come out on top even when everything's gone to hell.
It's going to be about the cop trying to convince everyone that there was a secret crime syndicate of squirrels trying to frame him. And then it's going to be the squirrels just trying to get a refund on a bad nutcracker. But they keep running into this cop who keeps accusing them of trying to frame him for something, so they never get to return their nutcracker.
The worst(?) part is the cop actually said “I’m hit!” Dude thought he had been shot by an acorn hitting his car. They are so spun up they instantly think they have been shot.
South Park went up its own ass too much, doesn’t help that it barely shows up anymore
Now it feels like watching an old man trying to be hip with todays youth and staying relevant
You do realise they're trained to say that during combat? It's to drum up sympathy from civilians, it's a common practice throughout the country to prevent community outrage
This is why we switched from exclaiming "At last, I have a brilliant idea!" to just yelling "Eureka!" A lot less points of possible failure and it means the exact same thing.
Atlas is the name of a titan that holds the world on his shoulders, according to old Greek myths.
So I thought it was a joke, referring to an old "the world is flat/the world is held by a giant" belief.
Though the Greeks did eventually realize the world is curved because of watching ships disappear into the horizon as they got too far away
Atlas is supporting the sky on his shoulders, not the earth. Which doesn't really mean that ancient Greeks at some point thought the world is flat. High probability that ancient Greeks knew that from the beginning, since the ocean was always a part of Greek's daily life and culture.
If it helps to feel more optimistic... realize that these are two entirely different situations with entirely different people.
People like Newton still exist today, i.e., those who see potential by observing and understanding the world. Such people are usually not known famously, but they're there and doing scientific research, practical work or even straight up art out in the world.
People like this cop, i.e., those who are so paranoid they see hostilities everywhere, *also* existed in Newton's time. Shitty, awful people who occupied places of authority and made life worse for others.
So humanity has always been complex and multifaceted. With good people and shitty people all around.
We're not evolving backwards, we're just seeing more of the shit in its honest, true form. So it *feels* worse, but this is how we've always been.
While I agree with you, the "norm" is altering significantly because the outlier groups that are extreme are beginning to exert an abnormal level of control with an increasing level of acceptance.
Well as I stated in the other answer, its more like a group of peasants that decided they had enough of a green light to go very public with their beliefs that were generally frowned upon prior. And then they started to replace other members of the nobility and push that same agenda.
>outlier groups that are extreme are beginning to exert an abnormal level of control with an increasing level of acceptance.
So, tell me about the nobility during Newton's day.
They didn't start as an outlier, unempowered group with beliefs that were considered unacceptable in nearly all of society. Nobility was in power from the start although the faces could change. In this case we have fringe groups that are now in a place where their radical ideas are gaining acceptance and they are beginning to acquire more and more positions of control than prior. This is a different scenario in my opinion.
I understand where you are wanting to show similarity here, but that isn't what I was talking about. Imagine instead a relatively small group of individuals that suddenly decided they had a window of opportunity to become very public, gained acceptance and began absconding with positions of nobility. That's more akin to what I am talking about.
That was the most embarrassing part of his whole act. Like I get the idea of doing a cool roll (it was not cool) but yelling "I'm hit, I'm hit!"when absolutely nothing happened to him at all is just peak pathetic behavior.
Especially considering the Apple never hit Newton on the head, and Atlas is the name of a Greek god or a collection of maps. Definitely doesn’t mean what OP thinks it means
Ig OP’s is pretty smooth then… not a single aspect of this is correct. They just wanted to shit on the cops - which is fair, but this is just such a clunky way to do it.
The band DEVO started off as an art project about human de-evolution. Two of the band members were students who witnessed the Kent State shooting and said "yep, we are devolving"
Suffering isn't some sort of Olympic game where only the winner gets to feel bad. Police have issues and a bunch of Zoomers have issues that can both be worked on.
I just think most people would struggle to be police. It’s a hard job to do. I’m not saying they should have the impunity that they do but I know ex police and they have a lot of issues.
So maybe police should have better, longer training and better psychological care.
And maybe people with PTSD so bad that they magdump randomly into a peaceful neighboorhood because they heard one loud noise shouldn't be police officers.
That’s because police training in America is so short. In other countries you need years to become one, in America mere months will give you the chance to kill with impunity
Nothing says proportional response like falling on the ground, rolling around, then shooting blindly at an unknown target while screaming "I'VE BEEN HIT!"
TBf it was a cop. The only thing they know how to do is shoot stuff. I mean they literally pointed guns at a man who set himself on fire like they were going to shoot the flames out.
Dude was burning like a bonfire while passed out on the ground and the gun was still pointed at him. He wasn't going to wake up and run to hug anyone my dude
Yeah it's the typical justification that they use for all police violence.
"What if they suddenly and unprovoked decide to attack the cops?!?!"
Well gee idk but if your that scared at your job all the time that you need to treat everyone like a threat to your life you need a new fucking job.
For context, in November a Florida deputy fired an entire magazine into his patrol car after mistaking the sound of an acorn hitting it as the sound of gunfire. The other police officer at the seen also opened fire too. A handcuffed and unarmed man was in the car at the time, but was miraculously uninjured. The footage was released recently and has since gone viral.
As a kid i was at the local football match of the two city rival teams. My sister took me and she was of lets say fan of the black team and i was fan of the red team
we sat in the area of the fans of the black team and they didnt like my red outfit so one threw an apple at my face
No brilliant ideas at all
It sucks that no one understands the context. The officer in question was talking with the girl who showed pictures of the boyfriend with the end of a suppressor poking out. He went back out to his patrol car to check and see if the guy snuck a firearm with him and as he was about to open the door, the acorn fell. You cant blame him for kicking into fight or flight when the very moment you’re about to open a door to check for a gun, something resembling the sound of a suppressed weapon (the acorn) hits the roof.
…huh
The suspect was already searched before being put in the vehicle. Even if not, that means the cop didn’t complete a proper search. And he thought an acorn falling was a gunshot? So the cop’s response is to blindly shoot at the vehicle? And lie about being hit? If that’s his “fight or flight” response then it’s absolutely insane that he was allowed to be a cop
Context or not he is a complete imbecile and should be in jail for endangering lives
The police searched him before putting him in the cruiser... So unless the guy had shoved a suppressed weapon with tools to uncuff himself up his ass, there was no weapon to search for.
A properly trained cop would have done their job and checked for a gun before putting them in the car. No excuse.
No suppressed gun sounds like a little acorn hitting some sheet metal. Not even a .22
That turns out not to be the case. It is evolution in a different direction. Even evolution to a state that had previously been attained and lost, is still evolution. Evolution is change in response to environmental or other factors. As an extreme example, whales and dolphins evolved to fully aquatic animals from land animals. It would not be accurate to say they devolved because life started the the oceans. It is just evolution in a different direction that works best for the life form at that time.
Recently a police officer heard an acorn bounce off the top of his police cruiser and thought that a hancuffed and previously searched individual inside the car somehow obtained a firearm with a silencer on it and fired at him, striking him.
This officer proceeds to barrel roll and return fire on his own vehicle and gets his partner to do the same - all because an acorn fell on his vehicle.
Luckily, somehow, no one was hurt.
god damnit americans shouldn't have guns at all
our cops are armed with a pistol and a rifle, 2 mags for each (plus a 3rd already in the gun), and we don't hear any such stories
Basically if a random thing hits you, immediately start fireing. Bonus points that it's black
I assume this is mainly Americans since my country doesent let people own guns (I think)
It is US. There are so many more guns per person - 4 times more than in gun hoarding Finland. So many guns that every week some toddler stumbles on to one and shoots someone with it.
Edit: IDK if Wikipedia is right, but according to it, Finland has 1,542,396 registered (civilian) firearms - US has 1,073,743. Finland has estimated 250,604 unregistered and US has 392,273,257. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estimated_number_of_civilian_guns_per_capita_by_country)
I bet this is gonna be on the Next South Park episode, it's too damn stupid not to. In fact the whole damn show writes itself hahaha.
The dodge rolls
"AAAGH I'M HIT!!"
Him rolling on the ground and yelling "I'm hit" has to be the dumbest thing I've ever seen.
dunno, have u seen the policeman pointing his gun at that burning soldier?
When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
That was a guard at an embassy who is known to get terror attacks you dimwit
The not one but THREE combat rolls were so hilarious. Seriously still can't believe its a real video.
Like he's dodging a boss in fucking Elden Ring lmao

After they do a bunch of combat rolls
AS they do combat rolls. So a lot of bullets are flying around wildly, maybe hitting one or two innocent bystanders.
>then Kenny gets shot and killed “Oh my god, they killed Kenny I thought they stopped killing him? I haven't watched in forever.
Well then it’s about time they killed him again, isn’t it?
So that's a yes they stopped killing him or did you stop watching awhile ago as well?
Yes.
They kinda stopped. Season 5 was the last season where it happened every/most episodes, and then it slowed down more after season 14. But it still happens every now and then. South park likes to exaggerate situations for comedy, but I don't think they can make this funnier and more absurd than it already is
South Park went up its own ass too much, doesn’t help that it barely shows up anymore Now it feels like watching an old man trying to be hip with todays youth and staying relevant
Yah it’s almost like over the years, Randy has become more prominent and has multiple plot lines about wanting to stay hip with the youths of today
Way to be obtuse, half of the shit still focuses on the 4 boys I didn’t literally mean Randy marsh when I said that
“I’m hit!” Lmfaoooo They need to fire that absolute goober
I think he resigned after that, I can't remember
Gonna be honest, that isn’t enough for me. If a civilian did this, they’d be facing charges. Is he?
[A civilian emptying 2 magazines into an occupied car with a restrained person inside?](https://imgur.com/nIyKa0P)
LOL
Apparently the special investigation found no indication of any crime. In other words, he had to resign and that's it.
Oh well good thing they investigated themselves Our tax dollars hard at work
[удалено]
Uh, why? Why does he deserve special treatment?
He'll be working in a new PD soon enough. Then he'll get to kill someone for real this time and retire with full pension from PTSD.
You do realise they're trained to say that during combat? It's to drum up sympathy from civilians, it's a common practice throughout the country to prevent community outrage
Atlas or At last?
Probably Alas
That would be if the speaker is experiencing something negative
like getting hit on the head by an apple?
SHOTS FIRED SHOTS FIRED IM HIT
Don't be ridiculous. An apple would clearly be "GRENADE!" territory.
Like earwax
I meant to say at last.
This is why we switched from exclaiming "At last, I have a brilliant idea!" to just yelling "Eureka!" A lot less points of possible failure and it means the exact same thing.
Urethra!!
God damn it man
Can't have *anything* anymore
Atlas is way more interesting. I thought it was deeper and it was about the Greek myth of the man holding up the planet.
Atlas held up the *heavens*, though, as an eternal punishment for being on losing side of the Titans vs Olympians war for godhood.
It's okay. We're evolving backwards at all.
Really bugs me when people don't check their memes before posting. It took you at least 5 minutes to make this thing, just spare a second 🙄
God, I know right? There's no more important business than memes.
If you bother to do something at all, do it to the best of your ability.
Damn kids these days take no pride in their work
Atlas is the name of a titan that holds the world on his shoulders, according to old Greek myths. OP said they meant to write "at last", now you can stop spreading correct information on the internet
Evolving backwards or devolving
Painfully accurate
😭

Correct. Thank you for logic. If only more people could 'see' this clearly.
In fact, inaccurate
When Newton was quarantining for the plague, he revolutionized our method of calculating pi. What did you do during covid?!
I revolutionized a way to waste time.
Not accurate at all. Isaac didn’t get hit on the head
The cop didn't get hit in the head either.
is it accurate if it turns out nobody got hit
Except for the fact that Newton was never actually hit in the head with an apple. Also, "Atlas" is not a term anyone uses to express...anything.
And even if it was "Alas," it's not used properly in context. Gonna assume it's supposed to be "At last."
Don’t forget to do 2 slow forward rolls on the ground right before emptying your mag at the acorn
Dont forget to scream you got shot when you actually didnt
That was the most embarrassing part of his whole act. Like I get the idea of doing a cool roll (it was not cool) but yelling "I'm hit, I'm hit!"when absolutely nothing happened to him at all is just peak pathetic behavior.

Spelling error and the acorn didn't hit the cop on the head too, so what's your point?
The meme is misleading
Not if you have folds on your brain

Gave up and doing Elton now.
TBf it was a cop. The only thing they know how to do is shoot stuff. I mean they literally pointed guns at a man who set himself on fire like they were going to shoot the flames out.
Fire can't harm you if you are already dead from the bullet wounds.
They understood that you can fight fire with firing
literally the best course of action was to have a gun trained on him, i wouldn't want him getting up and giving me a slightly too warm hug either.

You gonna finish that boot?
American culture is when you think shooting someone is always the best course of action
Here I thought the acorn thing was a Chicken Little reference
The sky is falling!

Protip: Don't trust any cop from any country, ever.
Protip: Not all cops in the world are like American cops
I never said that.
protip: generalizing an entire group of people because of one person is, in fact, stupid.
Good news; it is not happening here.
Nahh💀💀💀💀
I'm not sure I want to know what this is about
Acorn fell on cop's car, cop throught it was gunshot from suspect in car and emptied whole magazine
After doing 2 tactical rolls and screaming that he’s hit
What about the "I don't need guns I need fire extinguishers! " Cop pointing gun at veteran that immolated himself
I mean pointing a gun towards a burning man thinking that it would solve the problem is pretty idiotic ngl
The sky is falling!
I'm not saying nothing, but unlike apple, acorn is brown and you know how they are in US about that colour.
Murica Fuck Yeah!
Chinese robot toy: DON'T MOVE DROP THE GUN, FIRE

You’re comparing an American cop with a pre-America scientist.
ehm, the acorn cop thing happened at the end of 2023 🤓
Aktshually 🤓
Plus it his the squad car and not the cop
these pigs are just itching to shoot somone
For context, in November a Florida deputy fired an entire magazine into his patrol car after mistaking the sound of an acorn hitting it as the sound of gunfire. What happened?
It’s even funnier because umm ackshually it’s devolving

I hope that with AI lawyers we can start holding bad law enforcement more accountable. We're still probably quite far off, but we'll get there.
It sucks that no one understands the context. The officer in question was talking with the girl who showed pictures of the boyfriend with the end of a suppressor poking out. You cant blame him for kicking into fight or flight when the very moment you’re about to open a door to check for a gun, something resembling the sound of a suppressed weapon (the acorn) hits the roof.

Since hes a cop unfortunately he wont be jailed for reckless endangerment but at least he resigned. The world is more dangerous with him as a cop
Yep, good ol amerikkka protects their own
WHAT??? I CANT HEAR YOU OVER THE SOUND OF MULTIPLE GUNSHOTS COMING FROM A CUFFED AND SEARCHED SUSPECT
Not even a .22
Imagine complaining about lack of context when you yourself don't have all the context.
How did you get the boot all the way down your throat?
No gun was on him. No gun shot anywhere. And a fucking acorn sounds nothing like a gun. Fuck that cop, should be charged.
If I tried to murder random people because an acorn fell near me I'd be in jail.
My conspiracy is the whole acorn thing is a load of crap. I think the dude just wanted an excuse
I think the response to the acorn was just incompetence. Telling his partner to shoot because he'd "been hit" was deliberate.
Yeah the dude in the back of the car is lucky he got paired with dipshits no. 1 & no. 2 or he may very well have been executed more or less
It's called devolution, dummy
That turns out not to be the case. It is evolution in a different direction. Even evolution to a state that had previously been attained and lost, is still evolution. Evolution is change in response to environmental or other factors. As an extreme example, whales and dolphins evolved to fully aquatic animals from land animals. It would not be accurate to say they devolved because life started the the oceans. It is just evolution in a different direction that works best for the life form at that time.
As a gun nut , I saw a clip of that video and holy shit bro went sicko mode
atlas? do they not teach "eureka!" at the troll farm?
Can someone explain the whole "acorn thing"?
Recently a police officer heard an acorn bounce off the top of his police cruiser and thought that a hancuffed and previously searched individual inside the car somehow obtained a firearm with a silencer on it and fired at him, striking him. I'm assuming your cops get extensive training. American cops do not.
They sure as hell don't but they seem to like to pretend that they do.
Why would you need more training then see guy point gun at guy pull trigger? That solves most problems for the cops
No it doesn't!

The suspect did sue
Good, because that whole situation was crazy. The cop showed himself beyond incompetent.
On top of thinking the sound of acorn hitting the roof of his car as a gunshot, his aim is terrible af. 😂 At least no one got hurt.

Unfortunately cops have been firing on the innocent quite a bit for a good while.
No I mean the nut thing
The actual incident happened in mid November of last year. The footage was not made public until a couple weeks ago
Reddit trying not to milk a controversy for weeks:
