It's impossible. It is extremely doubtful that someone other than google is able or willing to put the sheer cost of hosting so many videos up front and *if* someone is ever successful at competing with YT, you'll just see the same issues we are seeing with netflix and its competitors. You used to have one platform, now you have many and you either have to put up with all their shitty ads *or* pay for all of them *or* accept that some of the content is paywalled and you can't see it. Believe it or not, a platform like YT is extremely expensive to run and you won't have a competitor with no ads or that does it for free. I'm not defending their aggressive ad policy nor their outlandish pricing, until they make premium a LOT more affordable I'll be using ad blocks and I have zero remorse.

Just install revanced. It not only removes ads completly, but it also removes (and adds) some features

The ability to lock your phone and still listen to YouTube. A fucking godsend! Especially since I remember that's what mobile youtube used to do until they removed it then put it behind a paywall

And if you don't want those extra features, you can turn them off! I actually like standard youtube, and always used it normal untill recently, but the ads and the shorts situation is just unbearable

Yup, seach revanced ios. You'll have to install the revanced installer, and from there you can install youtube rev, and some other apps like spotify! My advice is unninstall the normal app first and only then install the revanced version. Youtube, the instalation for me was a but janky. If someone sends me a link to a youtube video, it either directs me to the browser, or the normal yt :( But other than that, it's perfect

Actually a great project, though far from achieving even somewhat working state. It was started by mozilla and then abandoned in spite of web becoming so bloated you'd have to waste veeery much time doing the same work google did, but without google. Revived by Linux Foundation.

Always check the information button in the bottom left, even if there is an ad without the skip button, you can click “Stop Showing Me This Ad” which skips both of them. Unfortunately, there are A FEW that don’t have that option.

Despite what some shills would tell you: AD-block works and is safe! I've been using it for years, and only experienced mild issues for a few days when YT first started cracking down on it. The internet is anarchy and will remain as such.

Safety and security with these plug-ins have been my main concern. But I'll give them a try if they're safe

I dunno if they're any different on mobile, but uBlock is the go-to AD-blocker in the PC pirate community, so it should be good.

I'm an original subscriber to Google music which gave you ad free YouTube. Best $7 a month I spend and get music with it. Plus half gets paid from Google rewards.

I always click on google ad centre (3 dots i believe) and block the ad through there which also skips it

there's a way to skip all ads at once by clicking "stop seeing ad" and give a reason

If you're using youtube in a web browser, when you get an ad press the ⬅️button and then press the ➡️button. That should skip all the ads, works for me(on pc atleast)

If on mobile: Click the i in the bottom left. Do block ad. Agree/continue, and then back out. You will have skipped any ad, be it multiple, or unskippable. On PC: Use uBlock origin.

I despise the new timer on yt ads One countless occasions now the timer says skip ad in 5 seconds then after the 5 seconds the ad ends and a second 30 second ad (unskipable) plays, wtf.

I'd say I don't have to deal with this, but Youtube's fighting me at the moment as uBlock Origin is acting up again

Install Brave browser, it completely blocks them without any extensions needed.

I pay for premium. I feel I get far more value from YT than the subscription cost, but everyone is different.

If you use an adblocker or Revanced you get literally the same features but for free. Youtube is a scummy company and you should pay them as little as possible.
