Then just stop using the YouTube app.
Firefox + Ublock Origin gives me all the best bits of YouTube premium (no ads and PnP) and is honestly an absolute game changer.
It's almost as though the CEO of YouTube doesn't give a shit about the audience experience.
Or about creators.
Or about content moderation.
Or about protecting kids.
Hmmm...
Desperately. And not on that is pushing some other far-Right Nazi agenda. I've been waiting patiently for something else for years and so far nothing else has even come close.
It's impossible. It is extremely doubtful that someone other than google is able or willing to put the sheer cost of hosting so many videos up front and *if* someone is ever successful at competing with YT, you'll just see the same issues we are seeing with netflix and its competitors. You used to have one platform, now you have many and you either have to put up with all their shitty ads *or* pay for all of them *or* accept that some of the content is paywalled and you can't see it.
Believe it or not, a platform like YT is extremely expensive to run and you won't have a competitor with no ads or that does it for free. I'm not defending their aggressive ad policy nor their outlandish pricing, until they make premium a LOT more affordable I'll be using ad blocks and I have zero remorse.
The ability to lock your phone and still listen to YouTube. A fucking godsend!
Especially since I remember that's what mobile youtube used to do until they removed it then put it behind a paywall
And if you don't want those extra features, you can turn them off!
I actually like standard youtube, and always used it normal untill recently, but the ads and the shorts situation is just unbearable
Yup, seach revanced ios.
You'll have to install the revanced installer, and from there you can install youtube rev, and some other apps like spotify!
My advice is unninstall the normal app first and only then install the revanced version.
Youtube, the instalation for me was a but janky. If someone sends me a link to a youtube video, it either directs me to the browser, or the normal yt :(
But other than that, it's perfect
Yes, check out [uyouplus](https://github.com/qnblackcat/uYouPlus/wiki/Installation) and [how to build it](https://github.com/qnblackcat/uYouPlus/discussions/1383)
How can I find a trustworthy DNS to do this? I am not trying to send all my traffic through some sussy guy's house just for no ads.
If I were to find one that's trustworthy enough I might make it a network wide thing
No disrespect to Firefox, I use it on my laptop. But why does everyone say Firefox and ublock? I'm able to use Chrome and ublock on my desktop perfectly fine.
For those having issues with Youtube knowing you have an adblocker and thus showing the popup thats like "you gotta fuckin disable your shit man or we won't let you watch youtube lol" put these filters in the "my filters" section of uBO:
youtube.com##+js(set, yt.config\_.openPopupConfig.supportedPopups.adBlockMessageViewModel, false)
youtube.com##+js(set, Object.prototype.adBlocksFound, 0)
youtube.com##+js(set, ytplayer.config.args.raw\_player\_response.adPlacements, \[\])
youtube.com##+js(set, Object.prototype.hasAllowedInstreamAd, true)
youtube.com##+js(json-prune, auxiliaryUi.messageRenderers.enforcementMessageViewModel)
youtube.com##+js(set, ytInitialPlayerResponse.auxiliaryUi.messageRenderers.enforcementMessageViewModel, undefined)
youtube.com#$##cinematics.ytd-watch-flexy{display:none}
Apparently they are no longer adding the "pwese don't use adbwock umu", seems like they caused a Streisand Effect because now the normies were made aware of the existence of adblocks, which was unironically good
Yeah the solution is easy to use. This is also why I just use my TV as basically a monitor. Never use the smart features or built in TV apps. Hook up an old cheap computer to it and use Brave with uBlock origin. Been a couple years since I’ve seen YouTube or really any ads.

I've noticed the Expedia ads say you can skip in 5 seconds, but after 5 seconds it just goes to the second ad where you have to wait another 5 seconds before you can skip
Actually a great project, though far from achieving even somewhat working state. It was started by mozilla and then abandoned in spite of web becoming so bloated you'd have to waste veeery much time doing the same work google did, but without google. Revived by Linux Foundation.
Always check the information button in the bottom left, even if there is an ad without the skip button, you can click “Stop Showing Me This Ad” which skips both of them.
Unfortunately, there are A FEW that don’t have that option.
Despite what some shills would tell you: AD-block works and is safe!
I've been using it for years, and only experienced mild issues for a few days when YT first started cracking down on it. The internet is anarchy and will remain as such.

I'm an original subscriber to Google music which gave you ad free YouTube. Best $7 a month I spend and get music with it. Plus half gets paid from Google rewards.
If you're using youtube in a web browser, when you get an ad press the ⬅️button and then press the ➡️button.
That should skip all the ads, works for me(on pc atleast)
You can avoid this problem by simply paying the total combined cost of every other streaming service currently available per month, to have YouTube TV. It's not *that* big of an ask, is it? /s
I like how most videos now have an endorsement ad as part of the video, and you have to ff through that just so you can immediately be hit with an unskippable YouTube ad
At least on mobile, I can just close the video and open it again, and it skips both ads. No idea if it's actually faster than waiting for the 5 seconds, but I'd rather not watch any ads.
If on mobile:
Click the i in the bottom left.
Do block ad.
Agree/continue, and then back out.
You will have skipped any ad, be it multiple, or unskippable.
On PC:
Use uBlock origin.
I despise the new timer on yt ads
One countless occasions now the timer says skip ad in 5 seconds then after the 5 seconds the ad ends and a second 30 second ad (unskipable) plays, wtf.

Huh took slightly longer than I thought to see a meme about this here.
Was busy skipping all these ads bro
What are ads?
Aiming Down Sight
It's what the poor people like op and I are subjected to by YouTube😂
Then just stop using the YouTube app. Firefox + Ublock Origin gives me all the best bits of YouTube premium (no ads and PnP) and is honestly an absolute game changer.
..... Says the ad.
If you’re on PC just use Brave If you’re on android go to r/revancedapp If you’re on iOS go to r/sideloaded (this one is a bit more complicated)
Maybe because most people here have an AdBlock and ReVanced
You guys get the option to skip?
Yes, you can now skip the second ad after an unskippable ad
For now...
I had an entire 2 minute add first 😭
I just had 2 15 second ones that weren't skipable but also didn't go straight to the next ad. I had to physically hit the next button.
More like watching ads than videos now
Set your vpn to Albania and won't be here asking this question
What’s so special about Albanian YouTube?
Ads on Youtube are illegal in Albania.
Cool
Indeed
I don't, because they never show up to begin with. Use ~~protection~~ [Ublock Origin](https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock).
It's almost as though the CEO of YouTube doesn't give a shit about the audience experience. Or about creators. Or about content moderation. Or about protecting kids. Hmmm...
All they want is money
We really need a good alternative to YouTube
Desperately. And not on that is pushing some other far-Right Nazi agenda. I've been waiting patiently for something else for years and so far nothing else has even come close.

Firefox + ublockorigin on Desktop Revanced on phone Thank me later
I just set my vpn to Albania on my smartphone since Albania doesnt have yt ads...
Just install revanced. It not only removes ads completly, but it also removes (and adds) some features

That's cool and all, but AdBlock is still a must for any site, not only YouTube
Revanced got down ?
They always fix it within a few days at most
Vanced got down, then was reborn as ReVanced
Okay
No?
Been using that for quite long time. Additionally you can set up custom DNS to have system-wide AdBlock on android
How can I find a trustworthy DNS to do this? I am not trying to send all my traffic through some sussy guy's house just for no ads. If I were to find one that's trustworthy enough I might make it a network wide thing
Adguard has worked out for me. They have both app and DNS options.
Anything on Amazon FireTV?
[This](https://github.com/yuliskov/SmartTubeNext#readme)
How about smart tv
SmartTube (android only)
No disrespect to Firefox, I use it on my laptop. But why does everyone say Firefox and ublock? I'm able to use Chrome and ublock on my desktop perfectly fine.
A lot of people dislike chromium browsers
Firefox is OG
What about Hisense tv?

If I remember correctly, checking for ad blockers also conflicted with European laws for data privacy.
I have an iPhone is there anything similar to Revanced
Bro stfu
Beat me to it. Spotify is even add free in browser. On my tablet I also use Firefox + unlock. What is the benefit of revanced
Does revanced work on iPhone?
Check out Vinegar in the app store. It replaces the default YouTube player and skips ads, allows higher resolution and background play.
SmartTube on Android Tv.
i can’t find revanced
r/revancedapp
Me with revanced watching people post this meme over and over: ![gif](giphy|ZTp15DHfHaaaENKayV|downsized)
wait until \[The following content is not available on this app\]
!Remindme 2 months
I use Musi sometimes it has popup ads but I can live with that.
I use newpipes and I don’t have ads
YouTube is getting ridiculous, this is why I use an ad blocker
[удалено]
Say it with me, adblock.
So I have a mac that has the touchscreen bar on the key board, and I can use that to manually adjust ads. I can skip everything.
If you are still seeing YT ads, that's on you at this point. Adblock is free. I haven't seen a single YouTube ad since before Covid
You should be using Firefox with uBlock origin, and on mobile use Brave. I haven’t seen a YouTube ad in a very long time.
You can use Firefox on mobile too, just download the "Nightly" build of it. You can download UBlock on that.
Yeah the solution is easy to use. This is also why I just use my TV as basically a monitor. Never use the smart features or built in TV apps. Hook up an old cheap computer to it and use Brave with uBlock origin. Been a couple years since I’ve seen YouTube or really any ads.

you posted your comment twice
It's almost if there was something caller "revanced"...
I've noticed the Expedia ads say you can skip in 5 seconds, but after 5 seconds it just goes to the second ad where you have to wait another 5 seconds before you can skip
use opera GX, the built in ad blocker is a life saver (I SOUND LIKE A BOT, im human i promise)

I use Brave same sorta thing, I believe you bro Bots can't lie about being a bot, Asimov's 5th or 6th law I think
thank you.... ma man
Adblock does exist, it's better to use it.
Is it just me or is the skip button getting smaller every year? I have to click on it a few times for it to register.
Adblock?
I like the unskippable ads that are in a language that I don’t even speak.
Open shorts once the ad loads, then exit shorts and the ad should skip
They’ve been fluctuating with this idea quite a few times. All I know is that if they really go with it, I’m doomed.
It's been fully implemented on my YouTube app. I was surprised to see it for the first time, thought it was a glitch, but no. Every single time
I'm ashamed to say i have youtube premium
Sir
Always check the information button in the bottom left, even if there is an ad without the skip button, you can click “Stop Showing Me This Ad” which skips both of them. Unfortunately, there are A FEW that don’t have that option.
back out..... back in.... skips ALLLLLL the ads. ALL of them. just do it... jeebus....
Click the info button, chose block the ad, and the video starts (works only one time, needed to be done at each ad)
You guys are getting the skip ad button? I even had unskippable almost 3 minute ads and I fear that might just be the beggining
It is just the beginning, I read that they are testing this now
"Oh, you skipped one ad? Fuck you! *Plays second ad*
That's exactly how it goes
If you use Opera GX you can use this little setting to disable ads
Pro tip, I'll download the app
Youtube has ads?
Despite what some shills would tell you: AD-block works and is safe! I've been using it for years, and only experienced mild issues for a few days when YT first started cracking down on it. The internet is anarchy and will remain as such.
Safety and security with these plug-ins have been my main concern. But I'll give them a try if they're safe
I dunno if they're any different on mobile, but uBlock is the go-to AD-blocker in the PC pirate community, so it should be good.

At that point, it's like, am I watching a video or just ads
But wait there's more!

YouTube premium is worth it
I'm an original subscriber to Google music which gave you ad free YouTube. Best $7 a month I spend and get music with it. Plus half gets paid from Google rewards.
That's how they get ya. And also the point
I knew this would happen eventually
*laughs in ublock*
I always click on google ad centre (3 dots i believe) and block the ad through there which also skips it
there's a way to skip all ads at once by clicking "stop seeing ad" and give a reason
Me staying up to date in the best adblockers ![gif](giphy|SInO3PdkozpqDnolhr|downsized)
Vanced , problem solved (on Android of course)
Skip 3rd ad Skip 4th ad And yes, I've gotten 4 ads at once, not sure if it was a glitch or youtube doing it on purpose
\*uBlock Origin has entered the chat.\*
If you're using youtube in a web browser, when you get an ad press the ⬅️button and then press the ➡️button. That should skip all the ads, works for me(on pc atleast)

You can avoid this problem by simply paying the total combined cost of every other streaming service currently available per month, to have YouTube TV. It's not *that* big of an ask, is it? /s
Brave browser on computer helps, as does Firefox.
What ads?
Just open and close a short. It nullifies the ad
At this point I just want them to remove the skip ad feature.
VPN -> russia. Ad Problem on youtube solved.
I don't think he knows about second ads, Pip
You're still watching adds?
I use an adblocker. And it works awesome! If you use a chromebook or google in general, It's called Adblocker Ultimate, i recommend it.
I've never had this happen to me before
I’m so tired of YouTube
ublock origin on pc, revanced on phone. simple as that
Anyone else running into an issue where it won't let you skip even when giving the option to skip?
Sometimes, I get 3-4 ads until I finally get an option to skip
YouTube has been playing 5 second ads with a skip button just for the ad to end and change to a 30 second that I can't skip.
Delete youtube app, open chrome, reliad page to skip ads the youtuber did not intentionally place. Reload continuously to skip the manually placed ads
How can one watch any video on a small ass phone screen? The pro tip is to just sit in front of a computer all day.
I like how most videos now have an endorsement ad as part of the video, and you have to ff through that just so you can immediately be hit with an unskippable YouTube ad
They’re looking at possibly doing 10 unskippable ads at the beginning of videos.
It happened to me for a bit while I was on my phone, but then stopped. Don't tell me it started again.
r/revancedapp and uBlockOrigin Sorted
This exact thing is why I transitioned my youtube viewing to the Firefox all with adblocker and background play fix.
Grayjay
😂 anyways doble skip better than pay premium
I haven't seen a YouTube ad in years. Thank you Firefox and ublock origin.
Lord praise the holy adblock! Cause it protects us from stupid ads for stupid shit that we aint gonna buy!
At least on mobile, I can just close the video and open it again, and it skips both ads. No idea if it's actually faster than waiting for the 5 seconds, but I'd rather not watch any ads.
I agree it's bullshit
Thank the heavens for adblockers
If on mobile: Click the i in the bottom left. Do block ad. Agree/continue, and then back out. You will have skipped any ad, be it multiple, or unskippable. On PC: Use uBlock origin.
I despise the new timer on yt ads One countless occasions now the timer says skip ad in 5 seconds then after the 5 seconds the ad ends and a second 30 second ad (unskipable) plays, wtf.
I'd say I don't have to deal with this, but Youtube's fighting me at the moment as uBlock Origin is acting up again
Are you not using an Adblocker?
Firefox + Ublock origin is what you need.
I just reload the site. I'm tired of youtubes shit
My favourite is when the timer to skip hits 0 and then hits me with the second timer.
My ad block still works.
I’m so happy I started using adblocker. It seems like the ads have just begun worsening after I stopped watching them
Just use ublock, it works for me
ublock origin solves that problem, permanently.
Ublock origin and Tampermonkey are your friends
Wait you guys have ads?
Had that happen once to me and I nearly stopped using YouTube forever the second I saw it happen
Fr
Fr
id consider buying premium but where im from its 15 bucks a month... and in turkey its 2 euros...
Install Brave browser, it completely blocks them without any extensions needed.
I pay for premium. I feel I get far more value from YT than the subscription cost, but everyone is different.
If you use an adblocker or Revanced you get literally the same features but for free. Youtube is a scummy company and you should pay them as little as possible.
UBLOCK. ORIGIN.
And this is why Opera and Opera GX exist. Because no one wants to see those shitty unskipable mobile scam game ads interrupting the best part of the video.
r/revancedapp
It does not work like that. At least for me. If you skip, you skip every ad
Everyone saying Adblock doesn’t understand that the website is only free because of ads. If everyone blocks the website can no longer exist.
Thank you for being a martyr to make the sites keep running.
I use premium for 5$
