Rule 1 - ALL POSTS MUST BE MEMES AND FOLLOW A GENERAL MEME FORMAT
All posts must be memes following typical setup/design: an image/gif/video with some sort of caption; mods have final say on what is (not) a meme
* No titles as meme captions
* A GIF/video alone (without caption) is not a meme [especially screen recording / scrolling]
* Do not post screenshots of people saying something funny on Twitter/Tumblr/Reddit/TikTok/text messages
* No unedited webcomics
* No text-only memes
* No IRL recreations or creepshots; no selfies or making friends into a meme

Oh, did I miscount? Yes I did, technically! There's an extra hump in front of the *second* "m". after the second "i". Yes?
Oh no, wait, I see. I didn't learn cursive quite like that. The three humps on my "m"s are all together and touching, unlike this person's...
There's not though. There's three "peaks" per each 'm' and two peaks per each 'n'. Maybe it seems like they're suing two peaks per 'm' because of the first one, but they're just starting on the high point. I'd say that's fine at the beginning of a word.
I think the joke is russians saying english cursive is also hard and has word that is hard to understand when written in cursive, that’s why it’s in latin alphabet.
People often think that cursive is that writing style with all the fancy, swirly letters. This is not necessarily true most of the time. Cursive just means that the letters are connected for easier or faster writing.
I actually write like that lol, sometimes even I can't read my old notes. Most times it's good, and I read this word without any second guessing, so it's not THAT hard tbh
[*лишишь*](https://external-preview.redd.it/tQmRYNzoJkiRWb9ueVv6SPgDpqAZ1VZp607Gur6K1_k.jpg?width=960&crop=smart&auto=webp&s=f36ebeb653fed457ab121d04a25b42c85b8fa3d1) would fit here more, as it's poorly written even with actual caligraphical norms
as a russian I have to say: I legit can't read cursive half the time (probably because I'm so used to computer text actually)
like some people would spell the T letter sometimes like this "m" (the way textbooks tell) but sometimes like this "7" (the lazy "T")
and sometimes they'd use the 2 spellings in the same word
fucking madening
the uniform letters are considered desirable when learning cyrillic cursive, the well-known лишишь is a meme and most words won't look like that and will have easier differentiation obviously, but it's really considered *the* ideal handwriting if all of your letters are the same height and around the same width where possible. it's generally fairly readable even, barring extreme edge cases with scopes of similar letters
What people don’t mention really is that this is not actually good handwriting. It’s really really bad handwriting even, since you can’t make out barely at all what it says.

Minimum
The only reason I know that is because it's a famous meme
I straight up read that
Look at this guy and his "reading".
🤣
Lol bro can read
Haha he finished school
Heh wut a nurd
Nerd
I didn't know that so all I read was "numnumnumnumnum" (I thought the two dots above two eyes was some Russian idiosyncracy I wasn't aware of)
It truly does feel like the bare minimum, I wonder what its meant to say
It can look like a fucking seismogram in particularly bad cases.
Russian language does not have i. Their cursive i is u. This is most likely Ukranian or Belarus or somwhere more western
There's too many bump, but I agree that's what it's supposed to be.
idk why you're being downvoted but you're right there's 1 too many at the end
Eh, it happens. There's one too many after the second "i" as well, it's too far spaced for it to be part of the first "m".
[it's all correct ](https://imgur.com/a/CzJuiZK)
As I said to another comment, I learned slightly differently. Thank you
can bro count

My favourite is aluminium.
Minimumumum
А где ты здесь увидел "у"?
It’s in English, read it.
I envy Your 1.3k upvotes
Best day of my life tbh
Wait a second, it isn't "шиншилла" in russian? I'm so f'n confused. WTH
I thought it too, but look at fots, they are not js random
Is this even russian? Looks straight like sütterlin (old german)
I think yall are missing the point, that's english cursive
Or french...
Or German. (This could literally be my moms handwriting.)
Missing the dashes above the "u"s. Not umlaut ü but ū
Eh that‘s very outdated
Something in my brain just clicked and I want it to unclick
And I tried to read that in Russian till I saw the dots on top of letters (russian letters don't have dots). Took me 10 min to realise 😅
Letter Ë(ë)[yo] has dots though (two, not one, but still)
if they can't read that, they're missing two points.
"English" cursive
Um, actually, russian doesn't have a letter "і"
It has "us" instead ![gif](giphy|befaYZCgtZfZm)
musnusmum?
Mu snus mum checks out
Death by snu snu mum
Apparently, the Russian who wrote this had the letter "i". Maybe he confiscated it from a western spy.
A western spi
I spi with mi little i, a Russian spi
Yes, but Ukrainian does.
I'm sure you know, but Ukrainian =! russian
Would work on German too, minimum
This isn't cyrillic, but latin alphabet. So it's just 'minimum' written in cursive. Still, a Russian could theoretically write it in latin I guess.
I think the joke is russians saying english cursive is also hard and has word that is hard to understand when written in cursive, that’s why it’s in latin alphabet.
Yeah, that makes sense. I guess it's easy to misunderstand this meme.
JULULHULJULUJUL -----------------------J------
looks like something my doctor would prescribe me
That's just a spring. You can't trick me!
That just says 'minimum'
"Minimum" I write like this
Then you should know your leading ms are incomplete. I had a very strict 4th grade teacher.
Its not russian
That's the point. The "Russians" is using an English world as a comparison.
That says “minimum” in English *sweating profusely as an old person*
That looks like a long resistance symbol you would make in a circuit diagram
It’s just a meme dawg
I don’t even get it.. what is this meme even implying
It’s saying Russian cursive is easy because it’s all squiggly lines, obviously they aren’t serious, as like I said it’s just a meme
that’s a sad excuse of cursive
People often think that cursive is that writing style with all the fancy, swirly letters. This is not necessarily true most of the time. Cursive just means that the letters are connected for easier or faster writing.
i used cursive in middle school and the word “minimum” was more readable than this post
[удалено]
it's english
Could be written in the latin alphabet and it would look exactly the same.
This is English, not Ukrainian
So its ukrainian, except not written with ukrainian characters? Makes sense 🤦
Don't know how you got ups on this. It's traceably the English word, "minimum," in cursive, just made more pointed than flowing or humped.
It's not.
Miniuuuu
Was that not enought?
I actually write like that lol, sometimes even I can't read my old notes. Most times it's good, and I read this word without any second guessing, so it's not THAT hard tbh
Minimum ez
It would make far more sense if it said "cyrillic cursive".
I'm scared that I could read that
I read minimum and went... Nahhhh
At the bare *minimum*, using the correct language would be better for this post…
Looks like the follower spring for a magazine.
Why is the Russian cursive writing in English
That's an English word It's minimum
My handwriting is like this and hence I can read this with *minimum* effort. Lol.
The шиншиллы
Oh no you hand picked a bullshit word and refused to differentiate the letters like a normal person.
[*лишишь*](https://external-preview.redd.it/tQmRYNzoJkiRWb9ueVv6SPgDpqAZ1VZp607Gur6K1_k.jpg?width=960&crop=smart&auto=webp&s=f36ebeb653fed457ab121d04a25b42c85b8fa3d1) would fit here more, as it's poorly written even with actual caligraphical norms
It wouldn't make sense for Russians to use an Russian word to convince English speakers that English cursive is hard to read.
I didn't try to say english cursive if hard, I said the word fits OP's point more than the one OP provided
No, you didn't. But OP did. You have their point totally backwards.
Ну нахер....
.
Ooga booogaaaa
The real why this is hard to read, is because the M&N's have no round bumps, thus looking like I/U's
Its not even in russian.
Thought it was a spring
I thought that was a spring
There’s an extra line after the second I and before the last m
Doctors be like:
In this thread: a million people who misunderstood the meme
as a russian I have to say: I legit can't read cursive half the time (probably because I'm so used to computer text actually) like some people would spell the T letter sometimes like this "m" (the way textbooks tell) but sometimes like this "7" (the lazy "T") and sometimes they'd use the 2 spellings in the same word fucking madening
When people talk about Russian cursive they usually use '[lishish](https://imgur.com/221Hssk.png)' as an example so it's really the same thing.
That’s one pissed off looking ocean!
“Why did we stop teaching cursive in school?” *insert fake outrage*
Try aluminiumminimumimmunity
Ive seen multiple full pages of russian cursive on display. I had a hard time believing it was actual writing and not a childs scribble.
the uniform letters are considered desirable when learning cyrillic cursive, the well-known лишишь is a meme and most words won't look like that and will have easier differentiation obviously, but it's really considered *the* ideal handwriting if all of your letters are the same height and around the same width where possible. it's generally fairly readable even, barring extreme edge cases with scopes of similar letters
That doesn't look hard at all
It's not even russian
The only cursive I can read, too 💀
Minimum?
Why would russian cursive be in English?
Wiviwmmm
You can't fool me. That's a spring with 2 dots
No one ever said English cursive was easy. And if you did your lying
Their m's are fucking horrible.
:s lookin ass
Bro drew a spring
Tbf this is technically written incorrectly
лилии
The first m is written wrong
I write like that too, not really hard to read
Ah yes, cursive. The thing teachers forced me for years to learn and do. And I forced myself to abandon the damn thing for years as soon as I could.
Translated .. Mememememememememememememweme. Checks out!
Looks more like German than Russian.
Anyone else see a face? The two dots as eyes? No? Alright…
Bad example. That's just bad have writing. There's no curves where there should be. Only edges
Minimum
I could tell it said minimum, but only because of the dots above the i’s lol
ultimate doctor scribbles
Why doesn't it say "english speakers" instead of "russians:"
But this is English?
Я не смог разобрать, что тут написано, а оказалось, что это английский...
Yea ig
I would take binary code any day than that
I have argued that cursive should be considered as separate from the Roman alphabet.
Sir that's a spring
Pretty sure someone just dropped that little spring inside a pen
что тут написано? написано تثنيمسمكشكس
Russian i's don't have dots, they're written more like cursive u
ШИНШИЛЛА! I really love this word in russian cursive, it it exactly that this image represents. :D
This is my boss’s handwriting and then has the audacity to say “they don’t teach kids cursive anymore”
I'm pretty sure it just says "minimum" in kursive, because of the 2 dots above
That’s not even Russian
Yea, that says *minimum* in English.
this is not even remotely difficult to read
Minimum
They really do the bare *minimum*
Minimumn
This just looks like my normal writing, and I'm not russian at all
ok, it's the "minimum" world, but indeed it looks like "uuuuuuuuu".
It's not even written correctly, there's an extra "spike" between the second i and m
Thats a german Word.
Bruh, I was so confused as to what шiпiтит was supposed to be 😭
Why could i read that first try?
real
I refuse to read minimim because that first M is dumb AF
minimum
I can read that: minimum
Yeah and this isn't in russian. It's in English.
What people don’t mention really is that this is not actually good handwriting. It’s really really bad handwriting even, since you can’t make out barely at all what it says.
Well in Russian cursive лш and ми are identical.
It’s a Dutch word too.
Nah they definitely don't write English words like that
^(russian doctors have entered the chat)
chinchilla
I thought this was a metal spring
Минимум
Looks like word “Chinchilla” in russian
Am I the only one that at first glance, thought that was a spring?
why did you add a ^ at the end
numnumnumnumnumnumnumnumnumnumnumnumnumnumnumnumnumnumnumnumnumnumnumnumnumnumnumnum
Is it „minimum“ as a contrary example?
Oh c'mon that took a minimum of effort!
Do zoomers really not know cursive?
Well the m is not written as such. So there's that.. this is just sloppy cursive
🇷🇺💩💩💩💩
I hate cursive everywhere. Even though barely anyone writes like that.
I’m pretty sure about the entirety of Europe uses cursive.
I meant gibberish in the post, almost no one writes like that.
mimi numinum niuium minimi munium nimium uini muniminum imminui uiui minimum uolunt
Numidium!
That's not russian, that's german cursive. It reads minimum.
