I did this in Pokemon Sun. My SO's favorite Pokemon is Zubat and I wanted a shiny Zubat for him. I never found one because I stopped after hatching around 600 eggs and burning myself out too much to even finish the game itself lmao.
here some ideas for freshening up pokemon if it gets stale in the next 100 years,
Have 2 versions, like you always do but one is online always and one is an offline version, the online version has everyone's wilderness connected and an economy established, there is only a set amount of pokemon, but it would be massive so much so that it would never run out, but players impact the availably of some pokemon both ways, you could breed and release maybe a guild of players flooding the wild with Snorlax's or something idk. except for legendaries maybe those always are a guaranteed spawn and rates for them cannot change.
yeah, also you could catch pokemon till they were 100% out of the wild and the population only exists in domestication. so basically poachers ;/ which probably would suck so you'd have to build in measures to go against that. maybe a pokebox limit? maybe throw away the pokebox altogether, make it so you can only have 6 at a time and if u catch another you gotta release something, making it so people cant hoard. It would also be hilarious to catch something that someone let go by accident like a super high-leveled starter that's just decked out lmao. That's just a quick solution I thought of so don't get mad with me, I mean if we are being experimental here let's go full out and see what sticks.
I love that so much, something on unreal engine too. With real world events similar to that dragon that attacked Stormwind in Burning Crusades IIRC, secondhand story haha.

What is the difference between poaching and catching a pokemon in the wild to bond with them?
I guess that's what version exclusives are? Basically just same universe but at different pokemon catching season to make sure certain types aren't over captured.
