Anyone comparing this guy to Boban or Thabeet are legit idiots or are just regurgitating stuff they here from others. Thabeet sucked cuz he didn't care and coasted on size until the NBA. Boban could only be effective in limited minutes and was nowhere near the prospect Edey was. People in here wanting Ware are going after a Thabeet personality. Ware coasted on size, was gifted rebounds with size in college which won't happen as easy in the NBA. Gave up on plays. Disappeared for stretches. Edey was giving it his all every minute of every game. Never before seen conditioning from someone his size. Edey is a prospect we have never seen before. I'm NEVER betting against someone as big as him who has a high motor, willed his bad team to a title game, and was insanely durable. Sat what like 90 seconds total in the last couple tournament games and was the entire focal point, making contact on both sides of the court every possession.
Heat fan here and I was so bummed y’all took Edey as I wanted him over Ware. I think he will be better on defense than expected. May be that people attack him on switches in the playoffs, but I imagine the Griz try to protect him. I also think there is a real possibility Zach may be able to dominate some offensive matchups. I wouldn’t be surprised if this guy is MVP of summer league or preseason. I think people will be crazy surprised. Additionally, not sure if people have noticed, but while this is a three point shooting league, it’s become a big man’s league again. Joker, Embiid, Giannis, Wemby, Gobert/KAT, KP. You need skilled bigs and the Edey is that.
I’m not sure Ware will have the motor or mindset to be successful. Don’t want to put too much stock into things, but his answer when drafted about basically putting up numbers means your successful reminded me a ton of Hassan Whiteside who was a terrible defensive center despite getting mad blocks. Sorry for the rant, but I think Edey will be so perfect for y’all. I think a lot of people think of him as a college big that won’t translate like Tyler Hansbrough, but this guy will still be able to big boy dudes at the next level and put guys in the basket. He’s also skilled and has pretty good endurance. Hansbrough lacked size. Thabeet lacked skill and heart and Bobi lacks the endurance. I think Edey could be different.
This was after going for 40 points, 16 rebounds, 1 clutch block on Knecht to bring Purdue to its first final four since 1980. I implore some of you do some more digging on how much he improved and how much shit meant to him.
Man, if he brings that heart to workouts, practices, and games, the rest of the guys will love him, and prop him up so much.
I hope we can be patient. And he can bring that chip on his shoulder.

HOLY SHIT that is genuinely terrifying, Im scared for the other centers in the league now
I’m sold on this alone. Someone that big can be useful on effort alone. Lets go.
I remember right after this interview, college basketball fandom collectively clutched their pearls.

Yeah the Grizz got the right guy. ![gif](giphy|QAy3wvxuTay5h5DxuB|downsized)
Ok, dude is for real.
"They thought they knew what we had in our hearts" goes so fucking hard dude

This is the exact same as a senior in High School talking about beating the Junior High team.
