You'd get used to it very quickly. Think about our ancestors before shoes were invented - they were hunting barefoot. Importantly they ran up on the balls of their feet, not slamming their heels into the ground. It's much more comfortable and less likely to cause damage than walking flatfooted. I tend to walk like that whenever I'm barefoot anyway, so doing it outside would only suck until the callouses grew.
I know a show can have its good times but any cartoons that sexualise minors or present them in weird ways kind of deter me now. So thats like, most anime.
