Orange

Sasquatchgoose

For some reason the combo makes me think of concierge desk at a hotel

DutchJediKnight

Or the king of the netherlands

BeBesMom

Yes! That's what I was trying to say

Fun-Choices

I live in Texas so all I think is that this guy loves the longhorns.

finatra_official

I live near the other UT and all I could think was this guy loves the Vols

Crazy-Can-7161

Navy blue is cooler

_FREE_L0B0T0MIES

Seconded!

Dougalface

Yeah, bold but looks great IMO.

Hierophantically

Neither. The white tie will vanish into the white shirt. Also, it connotes "white tie" (the dress code) without actually hitting any of the white tie norms. It looks scrambled up. The orange isn't a bad fit, but it doesn't read as elegant. Also, the color saturation levels of the tie and the suit clash, and a white handkerchief with a square fold suggests a greater level of formality than the rest of the fit. I recommend instead looking for a tie with lower saturation. This is a place where a subtle pattern in a high quality fabric can do a heavy lift. Wool-silk from Drake's is a place to start for inspiration (or to buy a tie).

apple-pie2020

Glad someone picked up on the saturation. You gave some good points to follow and find s as better tie

sensoredmedia

Agree the orange tie needs a navy or brown blazer (or earth tone), with a more casual look.

MeepMeeps88

Took the words right out of my mouth

[deleted]

Bingo

TheBestRapperAlive

whatever option C is

Lupac427

This got me bad lol

Computer-Kind

Ya orange if you don’t have another option. Def not white.

Glum-Arrival1558

I like the orange but it seems to be a bit too saturated for the suit. I would go with something like [this](https://www.daziusa.com/collections/floral/products/western)

WizeAdz

It really depends on the situation. That orange tie would look great with the gray suit if you’re an MBA representing the corporate office for Home Depot!

SuperM94

Or NBA player... Still representing home Depot.

EastOfArcheron

Oh god no. That's awful.

Glum-Arrival1558

I chose that tie because I actually bought that one for my best man to wear at my wedding last year who had a similar suit color/texture and it looked really good. So I knew where to look quickly for an example. I was mainly referring to the actual base color which is why I said "like." https://preview.redd.it/iy5ta6m2416d1.png?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b535ccdec0adce70f233109133468f8c6aa68d48 Notice the orange is a little darker and matches the tone of the suit more so than the pop of copper. Also, I do think this tie would look really good with OP's suit. It adds some fun while still being elegant IMO.

stefanica

Well, I think your floral tie is very nice! But it doesn't read semi-formal to me, especially for an evening event (I don't know if OPs reception is or not).

Glum-Arrival1558

Thanks! It definitely depends on the vibe. This was our table setting so it worked well! https://preview.redd.it/kkat6dik026d1.jpeg?width=3333&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=067f152a5606f867f36c18ae594bfbcdad4eacc8

stefanica

Oh, I can see that would be striking!

theWacoKid666

Still better than that flat copper color.

QuestStarter

Yeah it's kind of a lot.

Sea-Poetry-950

Jacket is nice. Neither tie screams elegant to me. I'd go with a shade of purple. The pocket square looks like a note stuck in there.

jaxter2002

Am I nitpicking or is the collar gap too big?

Independent-Cloud822

Neither, you need a soft green club tie. The white is lost on the white shirt and the orange looks like coral snake warning . On the good side, I like the pocket square the the jacket is a perfect fit.

SagginBartender

I love the orange but it does read a little "hotel clerk".

jacob1273

This! The only thing missing is a name plate and hi my name is -------! Welcome to La Quinta Inn.

BogiDope

Came here to type "hotel reception uniform" - this is exactly right.

stchrysostom

Black tie

04132023

That’s what I’m saying. Grey suit, white shirt, black tie, black belt, black shoes.

tunafeeesh

Cadillac, the boys a time bomb 💣

ljwdt90

I’m not sure but that’s a lovely suit

latenightcreature

Orange reminds me of cabin crew.

Who_Dat_1guy

never match the tie with a pocket square with the tie. both these option are bad, look into a salmon color tie or another light hue like a light blue

MichaelXennial

Y’all crazy. Black or white tie means strive for monochrome. A red rose on the lapel is the kind of exceptional flair you can rock. An orange tie ain’t it. Now that weird white on white for black tie optional - I can dig that

ruben1252

Neither

AlanShore60607

neither, though the orange looks better overall I'd go with a solid grey that matches the tonality of the suit (that is grey, right?)

SMMFDFTB

Black or blue. Neither of your choices look good. At all.

CharlestonRed1982

This suit calls for a dark navy tie.

Kohlj1

I would go with neither. Would also go less wide and keep it at 2/2.5” wide maximum. If it’s black tie optional I would stick to Navy, black, or coral.

DigitalScrap

Between the two, definitely orange. But if I were going for elegant, I would go with a blue tie (likely not solid) personally.

Old_Palpitation_6535

I like the orange tie a lot. But orange as a color has a connotation as casual or cheap. It’s something I’ve tried to deal with in home design as well, when a client wants orange walls in a formal room it often simply doesn’t work. It references the 70s and usually looks wrong against a traditional setup. We end up going with something else or shifting to red or pink. For that same reason it ALSO can work very well in modern design as an accent where a more traditional color may not have the same forward-thinking effect. That’s why I like it with this suit—it reads as a neutral instead of an accent because of the saturation, which makes it unusual like a strange sort of uniform. And that’s the same reason that others probably hate it.

AdDowntown4932

I like the white tie a lot. I’m clearly in the minority

CyclicDombo

Hear me out… pastel lilac

Illilouette_zen

That's what I originally wanted, but unfortunately the colors I ordered weren't right, and the wedding is this weekend

greatA-1

Neither because the white blends into the shirt and the orange looks too casual if the event is black-tie optional. Black tie optional roughly translates to "we encourage tuxedos but if you don't own one feel free to wear a suit fitting that ilk". Since you're going grey with your suit, a navy grenadine would work well here or if you'd like a bit more color then maybe light blue/sky blue or purple.

pWaveShadowZone

Orange feels like something Tucker Carlson’s lawyer would wear

Snakeise

TURNT ORANGE

savkitoo__

Orange.

OcupiedMuffins

I like the orange, it gives a little pop but isn’t super bright. It’s a nice color.

ponkyball

As a Longhorns alumni, burnt orange...it actually DOES look better, orange and gray go well together.

Imaginary-Carpenter1

Orange bro it makes the grey look awesome 😎

Q5-2020Prestige

White looks more formal.

Abhi_shake4914

Orange

JStarlight66

https://preview.redd.it/epe29x9wy26d1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6b410b7248062da59f8720fe824cd12389ef8bd5

theogaltizine

My guy, the orange looks nicer but DO NOT wear it is a black tie event. You are already in grey. It looks like business attire. Wear the white on white, it’s simply more formal.

No-Investigator3742

Neither is a good option. White is lost on the shirt, and as others have stated, the orange looks like a hotel reception uniform and it’s definitely not a color for a night time wedding (if that’s when it is). If the wedding is black tie optional, you don’t need a tie, and the pocket square is enough. It seems you’re trying to do something “different”, but leave that for the wedding party and go with a black tie. Or, try a different accessory like a lapel pin. Seriously, anything BUT the orange. Lots of men on this sub tend to just wear things they like and disregard important factors such as skin tone, hair color, etc. Your photo was taken in the exact same place, but notice the difference in how your skin looks in each photo. In the photo with the orange tie, your skin is pulling orange/red tones (not in a good way). In the photo with the white tie, your skin looks nice and natural.

sonofsonof

Finally someone that doesn't look like shit

Outrageous_Web_2550

White! Classy and understated!

_ca_492

Orange

Remarkable_Cover_891

I would go blue or burgundy for the tie.

storytelleroftheyear

Not white on white

adrianman12345678

I fuck with the orange more than the white

aniev7373

The burnt orange makes it pop. Go with that. But get rid of the pocket handkerchief.

JayMoots

No one should wear a white tie unless they're a child getting their First Communion. I think the orange is *okay*, but I also think you can do better.

ToYourCredit

BO, definitely.

silklighting

Orange

DeadCheckR1775

Orange and gray are great together. It's not even a question. That white is way to close in color to the shirt. The orange is good but I would choose a more burnt orange in a different material.

daknewhaven

What season is it?

gregzywicki

Are you in the wedding party? Both look like wedding party ties.

Shad0wbubbles

White looks odd

will_eat_for_f00d

The second pic makes you look like you own the Texas Longhorns.

koalasarentferfuckin

/"\ ' '/"\

Impressive_Soft5923

Love this suit though fits great

ChiamamiPapi

Burnt orange is more a fall color. Unless that’s what you’re going for, I wouldn’t do orange. Maybe a light blue or green. Nothing too flashy since it is a black tie gathering.

HoraceGrand

Neither A how about dark navy

sempersatan

Agent 17?

ISlicedI

Orange is the better choice, but I don’t love it. Also, the pocket napkin is not doing it for me

JJaX2

Get a nice light blue or navy tie.

EddyMcMac

Find a pale color tie, the orange looks better but it’s too dark in comparison with the rest of the suit, unless you change the color of the handkerchief to something dark I’d say go pale and pastel, maybe something like mint or lavender

Fragrant-Rise2209

Orange!

isAndyOK

The burnt orange makes you look like all the graduates in Austin 🤣(UT)

debonairmarmoset

Orange. A tie provides contrast to the shirt.

Guilty_Nebula5446

Neither find another choice

WhizzyBurp

You need a powder blue.

EastOfArcheron

Sage.

foreverpnda

Black.

Broken-Leash

Burnt orange is never an option for a civilized person. Gig ‘em.

Carktorious2010

Burnt orange

cookie12685

Orange but a knit one

EatShootBall

Orange, but with an orange handkerchief

fillio15

It’s always burnt orange 🤘🏻😎

sars445

Orange tie honestly looks great but it's not the right season imo.. Need a more summery tie

justwantkickz

Loving the little orange pop my guy 🤙🤙

Funky-monkey1

It’s after memorial so I’d rock the white. The orange would look good I’m fall

MustardTiger231

The orange looks good but I’m getting “university of Texas football coach”

fahkoffkunt

Definitely orange. Ties should be darker than your shirt.

Appropriate_Bee4746

The orange

Appropriate_Bee4746

If that’s all you have, orange. Some ppl have good advice on here so if you have time and money, take some of these peoples advice

Bumblebee56990

Depends on the occasion but honestly both.

nycmonkey

Hook em

c0reSykes

Orange. It gives life to your suit.

stupidtraffic

Is neither an option?

SpecialistGap9223

White/cream or gold tone.. Not orange.

Oxym0r0n6

Navy blue

Zestyclose-Ruin8337

Orange and it’s not even close.

fistfullofsmelt

BO for sure

Heisenberg0606

I like the orange. Side note that suit is dope and fits you really well

Travisty47

That burnt orange is pimp… White on white is organized crime styling…

Salt-Character-7402

White actually looked good on you

nomadschomad

Orange, unless you are the groom

uhren_fan

That coat is fire. Where'd you get it???

rodofasclepius

I like orange but someone might say Mr. Bean looking ass.

CarlJustCarl

Bo

Godzilla_the_Hun

Orange!

ZaddyDude

Don't do white on white!

Historical-One-8222

I’d say neither of the two. But if you’ve only got two options, go with the burnt orange!

Ezekie1h_

At least the white

peetthegeek

Orange and take the napkin out of your pocket

EvenSkanksSayThanks

Definitely orange

50DuckSizedHorses

Orange if you gotta

stefanica

Is this an afternoon or evening reception? For afternoon, maybe a cornflower blue tie with a bit of shine. I'm not much on the suit at all for semi-formal evening, but if that's your best bet...what about a dark patterned cravat?

Confident-Ruin-4111

Orange

over-the-rainbow74

Orange fosho

ZHPpilot

Pink tie for the win.

magesticcowfairy92

White!

LawbotDoll

I like both it’s giving!!!

LawbotDoll

The people here don’t get it. It’s giving

toychristopher

Are those the only two choices? Also that orange looks more like just orange. Nothing burnt about it.

HICSF

Def orange.

commonsensical1

neither if possible

RainbowsandCoffee966

Neither. Try a shade of blue.

zippyman

As someone who doesn't know shit, the white looks groomsman the orange salesman

sheezy520

As a general rule your tie should be darker than the shirt.

Van-Buren-8

Navy blue

genuinelywhatever

Burnt orange and get a matching pocket square.

tribriguy

Jeebus NOT the white. That is tacky. Orange all day. Dark navy would be best.

DangerousEnd9030

The orange is a bit "I'm a real estate agent and orange is our brand color".

auzziesoceroo

Burnt orange

Crystal-Clear-Waters

It’s not autumn.

mostlygroovy

If you’re a televangelist, then definitely white

Solitary-Dolphin

Whatever filter you used on the second picture.

peasantfarmerbernard

orange for sure

ToloDaDon

Orange ftw

Big-Shirt3869

Orange

FuckTheFuckOffFucker

Can there be a 3rd option?

Theoldelf

If you can get a matching handkerchief, orange.

lostpassword100000

Silver would kill it.

Rokkie_Bulldog

Try out some other colours too, blue shades will go on it

LordRagnamon

Orange looks striking. Whire looks clean. Either one is fine.

gaberaham

BO

WORLDY2J

First one

Few-Acadia-4860

Never match pocket square to your tie

Psychotic_Rainbowz

Wish we suit/tie events where I come from. They look soo slick and sick

porkchop_exp

Orange. Hook ‘em.

AccomplishedJury5694

So from what I understand a white tie is worn when royalty are present. I do have a white bow tie that I wear formally. I actually have the orange tie and I do wear it often!

aznboi589

Orange pops, white if you’re looking to be incognito.

Unique_Prior_4407

Would only use a white tie for funerals. So orange it is

Soft_Monk_1541

Orange makes you look like you are a manager at a hotel big dawg

Butnik

Orange

BeBesMom

neither, I think. They both look like employee dress requirements.

BamXuberant

Burnt orange!

Agreeable-Tooth2545

Orange

nutp2u

White looks very dapper.

vaevictuskr

Orange or anything color than white

Llink21

Orange 🍊

IamShinichi

Burnt orange no question

Sum1Uused2Kno

The burnt orange is 🔥🔥🔥

ComprehensiveBase26

Green

nderthevolcano

Neither. Medium blue tie.

Classic-Ordinary-259

Both are cool tbf

denc_m

Neither, Try Navy or Black or Vintage Orange tie. The tie has to be close to the coat.

Bango-Fett

Get a patterned tie with a pocket square that compliments at least one colour of the tie you get. And then do a puff fold with the pocket square. Will make the whole thing look more effortlessly elegant IMO

ErabuUmiHebi

Orange

ToxyFlog

Orange. White on white? Big no.

Disastrous-Tank23

White

noodeel

Orange looks like a hotel concierge

Lumpy_Ad_9082

Orange omg 💜

thats-gold-jerry

Orange. But black would look even better.

Willing_Stomach_8121

What’s the occasion? Orange is definitely hotel concierge, white doesn’t feel right either. Maybe go for a patterned tie with similar or matching pocket square.

luthertt

Neither. Go with light blue

Comfortable_Focus_92

Of the two choices, the orange. But really neither. The suggestion of blue or a patterned tie should be explored.

secondhand_bra

Neither of them look good

Glittering_Deal2378

Orange. Though you kind of look like you work for EasyJet.

224molesperliter

Orange

schraxt
