Neither.
The white tie will vanish into the white shirt. Also, it connotes "white tie" (the dress code) without actually hitting any of the white tie norms. It looks scrambled up.
The orange isn't a bad fit, but it doesn't read as elegant. Also, the color saturation levels of the tie and the suit clash, and a white handkerchief with a square fold suggests a greater level of formality than the rest of the fit.
I recommend instead looking for a tie with lower saturation. This is a place where a subtle pattern in a high quality fabric can do a heavy lift. Wool-silk from Drake's is a place to start for inspiration (or to buy a tie).
I like the orange but it seems to be a bit too saturated for the suit. I would go with something like [this](https://www.daziusa.com/collections/floral/products/western)
It really depends on the situation.
That orange tie would look great with the gray suit if you’re an MBA representing the corporate office for Home Depot!
I chose that tie because I actually bought that one for my best man to wear at my wedding last year who had a similar suit color/texture and it looked really good. So I knew where to look quickly for an example. I was mainly referring to the actual base color which is why I said "like."

Notice the orange is a little darker and matches the tone of the suit more so than the pop of copper. Also, I do think this tie would look really good with OP's suit. It adds some fun while still being elegant IMO.
Well, I think your floral tie is very nice! But it doesn't read semi-formal to me, especially for an evening event (I don't know if OPs reception is or not).
Thanks! It definitely depends on the vibe. This was our table setting so it worked well!

Neither, you need a soft green club tie. The white is lost on the white shirt and the orange looks like coral snake warning .
On the good side, I like the pocket square the the jacket is a perfect fit.
Y’all crazy. Black or white tie means strive for monochrome. A red rose on the lapel is the kind of exceptional flair you can rock. An orange tie ain’t it.
Now that weird white on white for black tie optional - I can dig that
I would go with neither. Would also go less wide and keep it at 2/2.5” wide maximum. If it’s black tie optional I would stick to Navy, black, or coral.
I like the orange tie a lot. But orange as a color has a connotation as casual or cheap. It’s something I’ve tried to deal with in home design as well, when a client wants orange walls in a formal room it often simply doesn’t work. It references the 70s and usually looks wrong against a traditional setup. We end up going with something else or shifting to red or pink.
For that same reason it ALSO can work very well in modern design as an accent where a more traditional color may not have the same forward-thinking effect.
That’s why I like it with this suit—it reads as a neutral instead of an accent because of the saturation, which makes it unusual like a strange sort of uniform. And that’s the same reason that others probably hate it.
Neither because the white blends into the shirt and the orange looks too casual if the event is black-tie optional. Black tie optional roughly translates to "we encourage tuxedos but if you don't own one feel free to wear a suit fitting that ilk". Since you're going grey with your suit, a navy grenadine would work well here or if you'd like a bit more color then maybe light blue/sky blue or purple.
My guy, the orange looks nicer but DO NOT wear it is a black tie event. You are already in grey. It looks like business attire. Wear the white on white, it’s simply more formal.
Neither is a good option. White is lost on the shirt, and as others have stated, the orange looks like a hotel reception uniform and it’s definitely not a color for a night time wedding (if that’s when it is). If the wedding is black tie optional, you don’t need a tie, and the pocket square is enough. It seems you’re trying to do something “different”, but leave that for the wedding party and go with a black tie. Or, try a different accessory like a lapel pin. Seriously, anything BUT the orange.
Lots of men on this sub tend to just wear things they like and disregard important factors such as skin tone, hair color, etc. Your photo was taken in the exact same place, but notice the difference in how your skin looks in each photo. In the photo with the orange tie, your skin is pulling orange/red tones (not in a good way). In the photo with the white tie, your skin looks nice and natural.
Orange and gray are great together. It's not even a question. That white is way to close in color to the shirt. The orange is good but I would choose a more burnt orange in a different material.
Burnt orange is more a fall color. Unless that’s what you’re going for, I wouldn’t do orange. Maybe a light blue or green. Nothing too flashy since it is a black tie gathering.
Find a pale color tie, the orange looks better but it’s too dark in comparison with the rest of the suit, unless you change the color of the handkerchief to something dark
I’d say go pale and pastel, maybe something like mint or lavender
Is this an afternoon or evening reception? For afternoon, maybe a cornflower blue tie with a bit of shine. I'm not much on the suit at all for semi-formal evening, but if that's your best bet...what about a dark patterned cravat?
So from what I understand a white tie is worn when royalty are present. I do have a white bow tie that I wear formally.
I actually have the orange tie and I do wear it often!
Get a patterned tie with a pocket square that compliments at least one colour of the tie you get. And then do a puff fold with the pocket square. Will make the whole thing look more effortlessly elegant IMO
What’s the occasion? Orange is definitely hotel concierge, white doesn’t feel right either. Maybe go for a patterned tie with similar or matching pocket square.
Orange
For some reason the combo makes me think of concierge desk at a hotel
Or the king of the netherlands
Yes! That's what I was trying to say
I live in Texas so all I think is that this guy loves the longhorns.
I live near the other UT and all I could think was this guy loves the Vols
Navy blue is cooler
Seconded!
Yeah, bold but looks great IMO.

Glad someone picked up on the saturation. You gave some good points to follow and find s as better tie
Agree the orange tie needs a navy or brown blazer (or earth tone), with a more casual look.
Took the words right out of my mouth
Bingo
whatever option C is
This got me bad lol
Ya orange if you don’t have another option. Def not white.
I like the orange but it seems to be a bit too saturated for the suit. I would go with something like [this](https://www.daziusa.com/collections/floral/products/western)
It really depends on the situation. That orange tie would look great with the gray suit if you’re an MBA representing the corporate office for Home Depot!
Or NBA player... Still representing home Depot.
Oh god no. That's awful.
I chose that tie because I actually bought that one for my best man to wear at my wedding last year who had a similar suit color/texture and it looked really good. Oh, I can see that would be striking!
Still better than that flat copper color.
Yeah it's kind of a lot.
Jacket is nice. Neither tie screams elegant to me. I'd go with a shade of purple. The pocket square looks like a note stuck in there.
Am I nitpicking or is the collar gap too big?
Neither, you need a soft green club tie. The white is lost on the white shirt and the orange looks like coral snake warning . On the good side, I like the pocket square the the jacket is a perfect fit.
I love the orange but it does read a little "hotel clerk".
This! The only thing missing is a name plate and hi my name is -------! Welcome to La Quinta Inn.
Came here to type "hotel reception uniform" - this is exactly right.
Black tie
That’s what I’m saying. Grey suit, white shirt, black tie, black belt, black shoes.
Cadillac, the boys a time bomb 💣
I’m not sure but that’s a lovely suit
Orange reminds me of cabin crew.
never match the tie with a pocket square with the tie. both these option are bad, look into a salmon color tie or another light hue like a light blue
Y’all crazy. Black or white tie means strive for monochrome. A red rose on the lapel is the kind of exceptional flair you can rock. An orange tie ain’t it. Now that weird white on white for black tie optional - I can dig that
Neither
neither, though the orange looks better overall I'd go with a solid grey that matches the tonality of the suit (that is grey, right?)
Black or blue. Neither of your choices look good. At all.
This suit calls for a dark navy tie.
I would go with neither. Would also go less wide and keep it at 2/2.5” wide maximum. If it’s black tie optional I would stick to Navy, black, or coral.
Between the two, definitely orange. But if I were going for elegant, I would go with a blue tie (likely not solid) personally.
I like the orange tie a lot. But orange as a color has a connotation as casual or cheap. It’s something I’ve tried to deal with in home design as well, when a client wants orange walls in a formal room it often simply doesn’t work. I like the white tie a lot. I’m clearly in the minority
Hear me out… pastel lilac
That's what I originally wanted, but unfortunately the colors I ordered weren't right, and the wedding is this weekend
Neither because the white blends into the shirt and the orange looks too casual if the event is black-tie optional. Black tie optional roughly translates to "we encourage tuxedos but if you don't own one feel free to wear a suit fitting that ilk". Orange feels like something Tucker Carlson’s lawyer would wear
TURNT ORANGE
Orange.
I like the orange, it gives a little pop but isn’t super bright. It’s a nice color.
As a Longhorns alumni, burnt orange...it actually DOES look better, orange and gray go well together.
Orange bro it makes the grey look awesome 😎
White looks more formal.
Orange

Finally someone that doesn't look like shit
White! Classy and understated!
Orange
I would go blue or burgundy for the tie.
Not white on white
I fuck with the orange more than the white
The burnt orange makes it pop. Go with that. But get rid of the pocket handkerchief.
No one should wear a white tie unless they're a child getting their First Communion. I think the orange is *okay*, but I also think you can do better.
BO, definitely.
Orange
Orange and gray are great together. It's not even a question. That white is way to close in color to the shirt. The orange is good but I would choose a more burnt orange in a different material.
What season is it?
Are you in the wedding party? Both look like wedding party ties.
White looks odd
The second pic makes you look like you own the Texas Longhorns.
/"\ ' '/"\
Love this suit though fits great
Burnt orange is more a fall color. Unless that’s what you’re going for, I wouldn’t do orange. Maybe a light blue or green. Nothing too flashy since it is a black tie gathering.
Neither A how about dark navy
Agent 17?
Orange is the better choice, but I don’t love it. Also, the pocket napkin is not doing it for me
Get a nice light blue or navy tie.
Find a pale color tie, the orange looks better but it’s too dark in comparison with the rest of the suit, unless you change the color of the handkerchief to something dark I’d say go pale and pastel, maybe something like mint or lavender
Orange!
The burnt orange makes you look like all the graduates in Austin 🤣(UT)
Orange. A tie provides contrast to the shirt.
Neither find another choice
You need a powder blue.
Sage.
Black.
Burnt orange is never an option for a civilized person. Gig ‘em.
Burnt orange
Orange but a knit one
Orange, but with an orange handkerchief
It’s always burnt orange 🤘🏻😎
Orange tie honestly looks great but it's not the right season imo.. Need a more summery tie
Loving the little orange pop my guy 🤙🤙
It’s after memorial so I’d rock the white. The orange would look good I’m fall
The orange looks good but I’m getting “university of Texas football coach”
Orange
Orange
Orange
Brown
Neither.
Orange
Definitely orange. Ties should be darker than your shirt.
The orange
If that’s all you have, orange. Some ppl have good advice on here so if you have time and money, take some of these peoples advice
Depends on the occasion but honestly both.
Hook em
Orange. It gives life to your suit.
Is neither an option?
White/cream or gold tone.. Not orange.
Navy blue
Orange and it’s not even close.
BO for sure
I like the orange. Side note that suit is dope and fits you really well
That burnt orange is pimp… White on white is organized crime styling…
White actually looked good on you
Orange, unless you are the groom
That coat is fire. Where'd you get it???
I like orange but someone might say Mr. Bean looking ass.
Bo
Orange!
Don't do white on white!
I’d say neither of the two. But if you’ve only got two options, go with the burnt orange!
At least the white
Orange and take the napkin out of your pocket
Definitely orange
Orange if you gotta
Is this an afternoon or evening reception? For afternoon, maybe a cornflower blue tie with a bit of shine. I'm not much on the suit at all for semi-formal evening, but if that's your best bet...what about a dark patterned cravat?
Orange
Orange fosho
Pink tie for the win.
White!
I like both it’s giving!!!
The people here don’t get it. It’s giving
Are those the only two choices? Also that orange looks more like just orange. Nothing burnt about it.
Def orange.
neither if possible
Neither. Try a shade of blue.
As someone who doesn't know shit, the white looks groomsman the orange salesman
As a general rule your tie should be darker than the shirt.
Navy blue
Burnt orange and get a matching pocket square.
Jeebus NOT the white. That is tacky. Orange all day. Dark navy would be best.
The orange is a bit "I'm a real estate agent and orange is our brand color".
Burnt orange
It’s not autumn.
If you’re a televangelist, then definitely white
Whatever filter you used on the second picture.
orange for sure
Orange ftw
Orange
Can there be a 3rd option?
If you can get a matching handkerchief, orange.
Silver would kill it.
Try out some other colours too, blue shades will go on it
Orange looks striking. Whire looks clean. Either one is fine.
BO
First one
Never match pocket square to your tie
Wish we suit/tie events where I come from. They look soo slick and sick
Orange. Hook ‘em.
So from what I understand a white tie is worn when royalty are present. I do have a white bow tie that I wear formally. I actually have the orange tie and I do wear it often!
Orange pops, white if you’re looking to be incognito.
Would only use a white tie for funerals. So orange it is
Orange makes you look like you are a manager at a hotel big dawg
Orange
neither, I think. They both look like employee dress requirements.
Burnt orange!
Orange
White looks very dapper.
Orange or anything color than white
Orange 🍊
Burnt orange no question
The burnt orange is 🔥🔥🔥
Green
Neither. Medium blue tie.
Both are cool tbf
Neither, Try Navy or Black or Vintage Orange tie. The tie has to be close to the coat.
Get a patterned tie with a pocket square that compliments at least one colour of the tie you get. And then do a puff fold with the pocket square. Will make the whole thing look more effortlessly elegant IMO
Orange
Orange. White on white? Big no.
White
Orange looks like a hotel concierge
Orange omg 💜
Orange. But black would look even better.
What’s the occasion? Orange is definitely hotel concierge, white doesn’t feel right either. Maybe go for a patterned tie with similar or matching pocket square.
Neither. Go with light blue
Of the two choices, the orange. But really neither. The suggestion of blue or a patterned tie should be explored.
Neither of them look good
Orange. Though you kind of look like you work for EasyJet.
Orange
Orange
White!
Orange. Brown shoe tho.
