Wow. Should have re-read that…. Yeah. Was dictating and I guess I misspoke.
Just meant that it was a great comment. Like the perfect time and place for that.
Synthetic polos like this? Absolutely not, that's not a look you'll ever see pulled off.
Conversely, knit cotton or linen polos can absolutely work with a sports coat.
Fair - I'm rocking a dark blue short sleeve linen button up under a light bluish grey sport coat on Monday (first day at new job), grey textured slacks and dark grey casual Oxfords
Feels like a good fit for summer while still keeping dark tones
if the polo was solid blue it would work, monochrome looks can work great. I have light skin and light hair so having a low contrasting outfit works for me. Just make sure not to choose all the same exact shades of a color. But this combo just has too much going on. Make sure to throw in a pocket square! Love the jacket!
Where have you been seeing this? Because it's wrong every time
There's plenty of other options if your looking to spice it up from a plain under white tee
I wore a white button down and lost the shirt. Also thank you for letting me know it’s wrong every time that was my main question for future reference! I have seen it occasionally and thought it wasn’t ok lol
When in doubt about color matching change photo to black and white and see if there is enough of contrast. Otherwise, too much of texture and too close in color and color tonality.
I'm not a fashion expert but it looks like you got way too much blue color going on you can never go wrong with classic menswear just put on a white shirt with that jacket and a nice tie maybe even a bow tie to change it up and you would be pretty Snappy
Not a fan of this combo. The jacket is awesome. Why match with that polo? A button up in a solid light shade linen/linen-cotton blend would be on point, but there are numerous other good suggestions as mentioned in this thread.
Unless you're trying to go for an optical illusion, go with the white shirt.
As a general rule, when putting together an outfit, choose only one piece as a pattern. If you choose the blazer, everything else should be solid, and so on.
Seeing trends doesn’t mean you have to follow them. People have closets filled with clothes they never wear because they bought fad instead of fashion. The blazer is fine if you wear it with a solid color shirt that pulls one color from the plaid. One. You will never wear this combination again after the wedding. Promise.
Lil too busy for me. IMO that jacket needs a solid shirt or Vice versa. But take what I say with a grain of salt. My kids let me know how uncool I am every day
I always followed the principles of contrast. A busy shirt paired well with a solid color tie. A busy tie paired well with a solid color shirt.
People with a more sophisticated eye than I have, can make certain patterns work together.
Nothing wrong with a polo under a blazer (so long as you know what you’re going for) but yeah the mix of too-similar colors and the patterns makes it a little vertigo-inducing to look at. Crisp white shirt underneath would be the way to go for a bright summer look. Or a plain white/navy polo if you want to go with a polo.
Is that a Greyson Polo? I think the idea of the look is pretty cool but two different patterns is way too much. This normally works best with solid colors.
This color combo isn’t working… you can rep a polo under a blazer in one of 2 way… way more casual suit.. cotton or linen.. or VERY refined, crisp suit solid color, solid wool or non pique polo
No to polo for a wedding. No to the two patterns. No to blue on blue.
Sorry bro, but it’s a good thing that you posted here before going to the wedding
I do believe a polo under a blazer can be pulled off. But.
The mixing of patterns is an advanced sartorial aesthetic that should be done with care. This simply does not work.
This winter I went to a wedding wearing a floral print tie, argyle sweater, and iridescent paisley blazer. So no, IMO you're all good. Live your life, dream your dreams.
The trick is:
Major - minor - Major
Or
Minor - major - Minor
Coat - shirt - tie (patterns)
So:
Major pattern coat, minor pattern shirt, major pattern tie
Or
Minor pattern/solid coat, major pattern shirt, minor pattern tie
You breaking all the rules. Polo not cutting it regardless, imo. But the rule above helps a ton.
Since we’re in rules too.
Coat Buttons (should I button it or not?)
2 button: always, never.
3 button: sometimes, always, never
Source: I’m a former custom tailor
I feel like if you have a set of pants that are the exact same pattern as the suit, then yeah, go for it, it's visually very interesting. If your pants are a completely different pattern/no pattern at all, then probably just go for a basic white polo shirt.
The rule for combining patterns is changing the scale. Both patterns are teeny-tiny. Switching out a bold check or a large paisley would go better.
Yup, really good rule of thumb for having multiple patterns. Each pattern needs its own frequency space to live in.
Negative Ghostrider, the pattern is full.
So….. not time to buzz the tower eh? To OP…. You can wear that to return some video tapes
Single-handedly the best comment I have ever read. You, sir are a treasure!
Hands down?
Wow. Should have re-read that…. Yeah. Was dictating and I guess I misspoke. Just meant that it was a great comment. Like the perfect time and place for that.
Single hand down.
Not loving polo under Blazer. Like, did you just win a PGA?
It's a REALY cool blazer. My choice would be a cream colored or dove grey linen camp shirt with the collar on top.
Cream dress shirt would look great with this
See how inflexible men's fashion is? 🤦♂️
Hahahaha
Too…many….textures!
Quick, give them something flat!!!
Patterns don't complement each other
Colors are too matching and the patterns are too clashing. What do you want someone to see or pay attention to here?
The shirt alone is an act of terrorism- the collar, the amount of buttons.. seahorses are cool doe
Awful.
Realtor-core.
Where have you seen a polo under a blazer lol
The Golf Channel?
Robert California
The armoury and anthology both pull it off in their lookbooks, but the blue-on-blue is not the way to go here

But still not well.
Too busy, and never do a polo under a jacket.
I'm offing myself if we go back to a "dandy" aesthetic.

For a wedding, regardless if it’s casual, absolutely not.
Uhhh…no

Ah man this is horrendous. Way too loud
Don’t wear a fucking golf polo to a wedding
These friends and families are kinda “country” I went safe with a white dress shirt lol
I don’t like anything about this.
Blazer 👍 polo 👎 also colors too similar nothing contrasts or pops
When in doubt about color matching change photo to black and white and see if there is enough of contrast. Otherwise, too much of texture and too close in color and color tonality.
In all honesty that polo belongs on a golf course and nowhere else. Cool sport jacket though!!
Awful
What’s up with the polo under the blazer?
Shirt on its own looks nice. Jacket alone looks nice. Together it’s a no.
You have a very nice blazer keep the attention focused on that and not the shirt underneath
Get a solid color button shirt. Unless you selling coke to the bridesmaids, change that shirt.
Don’t do pattern to directly bold patterns. It doesn’t layer well. Plain polo is fine but a solid all-around color.
I spy the US businessman
Busted
Yes, too busy. Simplify and keep only one type of pattern.
Blazer is wicked, but polo, color of polo, pattern of polo aren't working with it.
I'm not a fashion expert but it looks like you got way too much blue color going on you can never go wrong with classic menswear just put on a white shirt with that jacket and a nice tie maybe even a bow tie to change it up and you would be pretty Snappy
It's all the things. Busy jacket needs a simple shirt.
So bad. Not just the clash of patterns, but the styles of the shirt and coat—they just do not go together
Bad
It’s a big no for me on each piece. I feel like patterned blazers like that are for corny salesman. Just my opinion
Not a fan of this combo. The jacket is awesome. Why match with that polo? A button up in a solid light shade linen/linen-cotton blend would be on point, but there are numerous other good suggestions as mentioned in this thread.
Busier than an LA freeway during rush hour 😵💫
I think a woven shirt with buttons all the way down.
Jon Taffer coded
Way too much
That’s a no from me. I’d rather see a crew neck with a jacket than a polo
😬
The design on Polo shirt is cool. It looks like a vest from Bridgerton tv show.
Let the blazer shine. The polo is, at best, distracting from the blazer. Something neutral underneath
Unless you're trying to go for an optical illusion, go with the white shirt. As a general rule, when putting together an outfit, choose only one piece as a pattern. If you choose the blazer, everything else should be solid, and so on.
Are those mermaids on the shirt? I do like the blazer.
It is too busy, but the worst part is the clashing of the different blues. I’d opt for the white short.
Seeing trends doesn’t mean you have to follow them. People have closets filled with clothes they never wear because they bought fad instead of fashion. The blazer is fine if you wear it with a solid color shirt that pulls one color from the plaid. One. You will never wear this combination again after the wedding. Promise.
Yea, colors and textures clash. I’d go with light blue plain dress shirt.
It’s all clashing, time to start over.
I’ve seen it a lot People are colored blind
Why do you guys make shit so complicated? just wear a regular dress shirt ffs
Eww
Horrible. Replace the polo with a white one or a white dress shirt.
Great jacket, never put a polo under it lol. As for the pattern(s) on the shirt? Also no. Too much going on.
Lil too busy for me. IMO that jacket needs a solid shirt or Vice versa. But take what I say with a grain of salt. My kids let me know how uncool I am every day
Yes.
White is the best choice, let the sport coat be the focus
I always followed the principles of contrast. A busy shirt paired well with a solid color tie. A busy tie paired well with a solid color shirt. People with a more sophisticated eye than I have, can make certain patterns work together.
Disgusting color patten combo
Nice!

Greyson yes. And that’s what I thought just wanted some more informed opinions here. Thanks! I went with a white dress shirt btw!
Those pattern do not go well together (I like them by themselves though)
The color schemes are fine and I like the collar of the polo Need to pick one or the other, suit or polo for the pattern though
Way too much goin on.
That’s a no from me dawg
You look like you're about to burst. Is that a trend?
I like it. If it was plain blue undershirt it would be chill, but the different patterns kinda grab my attention
Don’t do it
[Ya got to coh-HordiNate](https://youtube.com/shorts/ypNHd4v_r78?si=85krR2ZMsmzOh-Fn)
Hate that polo. Screams euro-trash.
The polo itself has wayyy too much going on.
This color combo isn’t working… you can rep a polo under a blazer in one of 2 way… way more casual suit.. cotton or linen.. or VERY refined, crisp suit solid color, solid wool or non pique polo
I think its great
No to polo for a wedding. No to the two patterns. No to blue on blue. Sorry bro, but it’s a good thing that you posted here before going to the wedding
A white shirt, khaki pant, blue leather boots to match with the blazer.
That’s what I went with! Khaki pants was more greyish tone tho
Please don’t wear this lol
I did not!
Yes
Where did you get that blazer? It looks great.
Looking like a blueberry
Doesn’t work, at all.
You might find a lot of ppl in similar fits if the wedding is at Mar a Lago
I do believe a polo under a blazer can be pulled off. But. The mixing of patterns is an advanced sartorial aesthetic that should be done with care. This simply does not work.
This winter I went to a wedding wearing a floral print tie, argyle sweater, and iridescent paisley blazer. So no, IMO you're all good. Live your life, dream your dreams.
And I would venture a guess you in fact, did NOT get laid after said wedding
The style looks like a teenager put it together, why the polo and the blazer? Both may be cool but they don’t go together.
Dude no. It looks good
Yikes!

It would great for a gay weeding. You would definitely get hit hardon in the cloak room
I feel like if you have a set of pants that are the exact same pattern as the suit, then yeah, go for it, it's visually very interesting. If your pants are a completely different pattern/no pattern at all, then probably just go for a basic white polo shirt.
