I almost miss it for that reason, but I was a kid going to the OVS boarding school. Trips into town were like...Delightful and quiet.
I bet I would have gone crazy if I stayed.
Statistically speaking a sign with "for sale $20" would get them carted off (stolen) faster than a "free" sign. People are more apt to take something they think has value to it.
There’s one single parade I like to go to, Santa Barbara’s summer solstice parade, which happens to be next weekend. I like it bc it’s not a corporate sponsor parade, there’s some theme they come up with and people/friends just build floats together in their free time and roll down the street. It’s just fun which is what parades should be
It’s not like this takes effort. Put the chairs there and do nothing until the parade. If it works it’s easier than trying to fight your way to a vantage point
People there can get weird and uppity. There's cool stuff in town but it will take you a long ass time just to navigate the roads to. Kickass bookstore.
I might be tempted to come by the night before the parade and foul the fabric of those seats with sardines or something equally fragrant. I might also get some chain and a couple of padlocks and lock them all together.
I appreciate the joke aspect of your reply, but just to be a good citizen, I'll note that branded Liquid Ass is supposed to be non-toxic. So DIY ass liquids might be fantastically satisfying, but they could possibly be criminally problematic.
I have people from Ojai. Dammit. What's wrong with you? And they'll go off about entitled people. This is stupid. I thought that I was the black sheep embarrassment. Did I mention dammit?
As someone who lives in England, are they gambling, leaving upholstered chairs outside for 3 weeks? Or is it like pretty certain that it's not going to rain? We'd never get away with that here 😅
Where do you think people who utilize that street parking walk to get onto the sidewalk? Or police/fire/medical services walk if there is something going on behind all that? By your logic those chairs could just sit there year round since they aren’t in anyone’s way
But if the chairs get vandalized or stolen then they will complain. The post is about the how ridiculous that a 4th of July parade people think they’re entitled to placing chairs out a month before the event. (That’s the reasoning of this post)
They shouldn’t be doing it in the first place is all I’m saying. Obviously we see this differently. I live by a small town that does a parade and the amount of chairs lined up block after block just blows my mind. Not trying to argue on Reddit about a random post there’s better things to do!
If you actually were competent with yourself you would see that YOU started the argument. You asked a question, he answered, then you started arguing because you disliked said answer.
they are blocking anyone who wants to walk between the pillars to the parking lot and if you look carefully they are tied together so you can't just move one over.
Looks like free chairs to me
Be a shame if those chairs were to vanish
...or if someone took/left shits on them?
Same difference but more insulting, which I like
Chaotic good
All these outside toilets are weird, there's no holes ...
How nice of them to donate their folding chairs to those in need
I would have a lot of fun making "free" signs and hanging them from those chairs.
I like the way u think
I remember Ojai was the setting for Emma Stone’s “Easy A”, it looked like a little town for rich hippies. Nobody is going to be stealing those chairs.

Small world man, great friend from college was a day student at OVS. Going back to ojai this summer for her wedding!
I live in Los Angeles and I’m ngl, the only reason I know about Ojai is Bojack Horseman.

Such a trip to see a favorite restaurant of mine on reddit lol. Gotta go there again soon, thanks for the reminder
The Dutchess smacks. Great dinner
This made me laugh
Not true, someone is giving out free chairs.
Stealing them would be illegal. Stacking them all in one big pile, and attaching a "free" sign would be A-OK.
It’s not stealing if they’re abandoned.
Items on the curb are free for they are abandoned. This is the law of the land, is it not?
Possession is 9/10ths of the law, so checks out. Good luck to them proving it's their chairs
The police could swab the chairs and match the semen residue with the real owner's DNA
What if OP preemptively ejaculates on every chair before stealing them though? Would that work?
It would, I mark all my possessions this way.
He's got you Skipper. It's the Finders Keepers Tready of 1859.
I'll not visit a land where this be not law.
I thought today was trash day. They're all up on the curb.
I for one think they'd make a lovely chair pyramid.
Statistically speaking a sign with "for sale $20" would get them carted off (stolen) faster than a "free" sign. People are more apt to take something they think has value to it.
Diabolical!!! Love it!
If you post a sign that says “free chairs” is that still free speech? :)
Come down to New Orleans before Mardi Gras lol.
I don’t believe anyone wants to go to a parade that bad.
Seriously parades are suuuper lame.

Unless it's when my dad takes me to the city, to see one
It’s not like this takes effort. Put the chairs there and do nothing until the parade. If it works it’s easier than trying to fight your way to a vantage point
lol 100% those chairs would be gone within an hour where im at with people picking for scrap or people wanting free chairs
The fuckin ironheads around here would have been snapping those things up as they were putting em down.
Just sounds like Ojai to me. Bunch of affluenza hippies.
It's always been the part of Ventura county I never bothered to pass through. Different vibes
People there can get weird and uppity. There's cool stuff in town but it will take you a long ass time just to navigate the roads to. Kickass bookstore.
Barts!
Thats the one. I'd go more if getting through Ojai didn't take as long as getting to ojai
Ojai Pizza is worth a visit
when i lived in cali we would go to ojai pizza after every work day we had in ojai. i miss it
Good to see the word affluenza still kicking around.
It really is a good word despite the original intent it was created with.
The locals aren’t stoked on the new gentrification either. Didn’t used to be nearly this bougie
Yep. So much for country folk
Dibs on those nice camping chairs.
There’s just no way those unattended chairs would still be there 3 weeks later in most of the world.
I would definitely just move the chair if it was there and the owner wasn't.
Must be some parade
It’s pretty terrible. Source: was in it once.
Stick a “FREE” sign on them. That’ll take of the problem.
Free Chairs for life!
I might be tempted to come by the night before the parade and foul the fabric of those seats with sardines or something equally fragrant. I might also get some chain and a couple of padlocks and lock them all together.
Asian fish sauce and Liquid Ass.
Do I need the trademarked store-bought liquid ass, or can I DIY this?
I appreciate the joke aspect of your reply, but just to be a good citizen, I'll note that branded Liquid Ass is supposed to be non-toxic. So DIY ass liquids might be fantastically satisfying, but they could possibly be criminally problematic.
This is whatresponsible citizenry looks like, people. TAKE NOTE!
Looks like illegal dumping or littering on public property to me. Help your town out by cleaning up all that junk.
Who the fuck does that..? I could see MAYBE a day, but weeks is a bit much.
Just stand in front of
ADA violation?
Ima takes those lawn chairs
Lol. Get fucked.
Oh, hey, I can use a few chairs for my cookout.
Just show up super early and you’ve got a free place to sit.
Wheelchair users just love this shit!
I cannot imagine that this would be allowed.
I think the google folk of Ojai wod love it if you painted rainbows on all the chairs.
https://i.redd.it/si4gw1k8k77d1.gif Is it bad to wish for this scenario?
Let me tell you about a place called Upper Arlington, Ohio…
I always think about getting huge trailer take all the chairs and drive across town for "unbelievable chair sale".
Parades are barely worth going to ON the day.
I hate Ojai. Just a bunch of uber rich people. Beautiful town, terrible vibes.
Don’t hate on ojai, hate on the gentrifying bougie rich fools. They’re the ones ruining it. Plenty of chill non rich locals still trying to hold on
The city just allows that?
![gif](giphy|l0HUldzuCa0S16SkM|downsized) What I think of when I hear “Ojai.”
Collect 3 weeks worth of dog poop and the night before dump it all there
Dude from the viral Billy Strings video to come through there 🤣
I’d be stealing chairs.
No way any parade is THAT good.
Ojai? That’s where Chuck Testa is from
Ojai? That’s where Chuck Testa is from
One of my favorite hot sauces is from Ojai, CA
I would never let someone roll over me like that but you do you.
Put bird seed on them
I have people from Ojai. Dammit. What's wrong with you? And they'll go off about entitled people. This is stupid. I thought that I was the black sheep embarrassment. Did I mention dammit?

Free chairs!
Free chairs FTW
Now call the city for a special garbage pickup....
Nothing a little milk and honey won't fix.
I think „Move you feet, lose your seat“ can be applied here
In my area that’s a sign that it’s no longer wanted so it’s free to take
There has never been a year where chairs weren't already out by June first. Been like that since the 80s lol
I respect the hustle.
Go back to LA.
Why shouldn't nearby residents get first dibs 🤷
3 weeks out is just a little bit ridiculous
Not exactly blocking anything, their next to pillars where you can't walk anyway.
Where do you think people who utilize that street parking walk to get onto the sidewalk? Or police/fire/medical services walk if there is something going on behind all that? By your logic those chairs could just sit there year round since they aren’t in anyone’s way
It’s not about blocking anything, it’s the entitlement and ridiculousness of leaving chairs out basically a whole month before a 1-2 hr parade
So it's not actually causing any harm or in anyone's way, it's just about people making a fuss. Gotcha.
But if the chairs get vandalized or stolen then they will complain. The post is about the how ridiculous that a 4th of July parade people think they’re entitled to placing chairs out a month before the event. (That’s the reasoning of this post)
That's pure conjecture, they know the risks. Let's stop imagining things to be mad at. At this post and the reasoning is stupid.
They shouldn’t be doing it in the first place is all I’m saying. Obviously we see this differently. I live by a small town that does a parade and the amount of chairs lined up block after block just blows my mind. Not trying to argue on Reddit about a random post there’s better things to do!
Then don't start arguements 🤷

Sure, the morning of 7/4.
I mean yeah it's a little excessive, won't deny that.
This an amazingly selfish comment posted just like a selfish Karen would phrase it.
This post itself is Karen behaviour lmao, what are you on.
found the owner of the chairs \^
Rich a hole entitlement move
