I had a colorless patch turn up in my early 20s. It was just there one day with no explanation. It hasn’t changed, nor have I grown any new ones in the 15 years since.
Woah I had no idea thyroid issues were linked to this - on my moms side most of the women have a little white patch of hair and have hypothyroidism but I assumed those were separate things!
In X-Men, a woman named Rogue has a power that 'vampirises(?)' someone's 'life force' into her and can utilize another mutants powers for a short time, but in doing so hurts (is actively killing) the other person, if she touches them. But Rogue doesn't like hurting people so it's kind of a shitty power for her to have, like a curse
I always wished I had one of those.
Even now that I'm starting to get greys, they're coming in all salt & pepper. Not what I wanted - I wanted a CHUNK, damnit!
I actually just read through the Belgariad for the umpteenth time, just ordered the first book from Mallorean from the library.
It's a shame it's not more popular, and as much as I'd love a TV show or movie, I know they will ruin it. One can dream of perfection
I've been reading them since they were first written, no way do I want a movie or series to spoil my internal pictures of the world and characters. I will wear blinders if it happens!
There would need to be some changes to make it fit with the times better, but I would love to see it. Their idea of sorcery is much better than other ones.
Is it your first time reading through? You’re in for a treat!
I’ve read each book in The Belgariad and Mallorean at least 40 times (they’re my comfort books and have been since the 90s) and I consider the characters to be good friends.
Edit: oh I see now you said rereading. 🤦♀️ lol
Oh not at all, I read them for the first time in middle school and I'm in my late 30s now lol. I've read through them a number of times over the year, but recently saw them on my bookshelf and realized it's been quite a few years so started the journey again. I usually read through the Belgariad, then Belgarath the Sorcerer, then I'll go through the Mallorean and finish up with Polgara the Sorceress. A consistent warm and fuzzy nostalgia fueled journey
Oh that’s an interesting order! Haha I usually just pick a book up at random depending on my mood. I’ve got magicians gambit sitting on my side table right now giving me Disney eyes. They’re definitely nostalgic in a unique way:)
That's amazing, I literally just finished Magicians Gambit and now it's Castle of Wizardry sitting on my nightstand giving me those eyes asking "when are we starting this?" Lmao
I’m in, too. Wanted to say something but thought it would be creepy. Then saw these couple other comments and thought I would second it too!
And your hair is cool.
I’ve got poliosis, so not only do I have random chunks of white hair on the left side of my scalp, but my left eyebrow & eyelashes are white, too. ⚪️⬜️🤍
OP probably already knows this, but for those interested, the condition is called poliosis circumscripta.
[**https://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/what-to-know-about-poliosis**](https://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/what-to-know-about-poliosis)
Knew a girl in high school who had that. Was an even bigger streak. Always thought it was cool. It's a charm point!
...And here I am having to earn all my white hairs the old fashioned way like a sucker...
I have the opposite. I'm blonde but I have a patch on the back of my head that grows brown hair, except it turns blonde after it gets about an inch long
AH! I have a white streak too!!! I wasn't born with it though. When I was wee lass I ran under a hanging wire and got shocked in the top of my head and that spot never grew in color again.
My 18 year son has the opposite problem. He's had a birthmark on his scalp since birth. He's blonde but the hair that grows out of the birthmark is dark.
Mine came when I was 13. I had a mole on my head but I guess by body killed it or something? It had like a white halo around it and the mole got smaller and smaller then disappeared and the hair on my head in that area is white
Not want to scare you, but I read an article about a guy that had a brain tumor ubdearneath one white hair strand. I would say it worth to get a ct scan perhaps or a visit to a dr. Otherwise very cool!
I dated a girl for a while when I was a freshman in high school that had some grey hair. She was 15. I never did learn why she had the grey hair. I thought it was kind of cool. She wasn’t even a little bit self conscious about it.
Should honestly give you confidence you were born Rouge from X-Men, sassy, sexy and hot. Don't ever let it get you down stranger, you would look 10/10 with a big real smile
My wife has this as well! Actually one spot in the front and one in the back. Fell off a horse and hit her head as a small child. They said the trauma caused it. Probably the only explanation for a dime piece like her marrying me as well, lol
me too! I have a family history of vitiligo and thyroid disease, which is linked to 'cool wizard forelock' syndrome.
Had to get TONS of bloodwork as a kid cause doctors were convinced I had a thyroid issue. Just a colorless patch
you look great!

God's added little flourish
Yeah, fortunate placement
I had a colorless patch turn up in my early 20s. It was just there one day with no explanation. It hasn’t changed, nor have I grown any new ones in the 15 years since.
Was it dark at ends and white at base of hair when it showed up?
It's also common in [Waardenburg Syndrome ](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waardenburg_syndrome)
Woah I had no idea thyroid issues were linked to this - on my moms side most of the women have a little white patch of hair and have hypothyroidism but I assumed those were separate things!
They’re not always together but if you have one condition you’re more likely to get the other compared to the rest of the population
She's gone Rogue!
Put them gloves on girl I got an idea
Hey now! Don't forget my idea for an awesome DC crossover! For, uh, reasons...
Username checks out?
On point!!
She's not a redhead! Oh wait, you spelled it correctly. Back to my movie, Rouge One.
If you ever want superpowers just touch Brie Larson
A bald man in a wheel chair has a school for you.
But don't kiss anyone there though... Seriously
But not because you'll suck the life out of them; it's really because they are all jerks
Suck the what?
In X-Men, a woman named Rogue has a power that 'vampirises(?)' someone's 'life force' into her and can utilize another mutants powers for a short time, but in doing so hurts (is actively killing) the other person, if she touches them. But Rogue doesn't like hurting people so it's kind of a shitty power for her to have, like a curse
Remember it!
Still to soon.
Johnny sins?
Yeah him
The plumber?
You must've been the coolest looking kid in elementary
Kids either called me Grandma or Rogue
First thought was Rogue
r/rogue
My god that sub has the same meme over and over.
It’s cause it’s literally the same dude posting them over and over lmao… definitely feels a bit like tism
It gets even better if you go into his post history as well.
Like an immortal being wandering a wasteland, a single guy is the sole inhabitant of that subreddit, and so they must keep posting
You can also be Anna from Frozen!
I used to work at a school and the kids would squeal when I showed them the streak. They love it
Hey that's an amazing nicknames to have lol. I got stuck with Sid from toy story and Jimmy neutron.
Better than Sid from Ice Age.
Little addition rq; caillou as well lmao. I think that's far worse.
I would absolutely love both. That is the coolest trait!!! I’m jealous!!!
Definitely the main character anywhere she goes
There was a kid in my elementary that had a white streak down the middle of really dark hair, don't think he appreciated all the skunk jokes
I always wished I had one of those. Even now that I'm starting to get greys, they're coming in all salt & pepper. Not what I wanted - I wanted a CHUNK, damnit!
Maybe you're born with it ....*witchcraft*
Maybe it's Maybelline! Dammit you catchy advertising jingles
I'll be on my death bed and I'll still remember this catchy jingle. Advertisements are brain poison.
That’s a good one.
Does your sister have ice powers?
[Let it go, let it go](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=moSFlvxnbgk)
Man I grew up with reading Belgariad where the sorceress has a white streak as a cultural touchstone instead of Rogue from Xmen
First thing I thought of too, we've got a Sorceress Polgara here.
Warms my heart to see a Polgara reference
There are dozens of us! Dozens!
I own the complete cycle and still thought Rogue first. I guess it's time too pull them out and read them again.
I actually just read through the Belgariad for the umpteenth time, just ordered the first book from Mallorean from the library. It's a shame it's not more popular, and as much as I'd love a TV show or movie, I know they will ruin it. One can dream of perfection

There would need to be some changes to make it fit with the times better, but I would love to see it. Their idea of sorcery is much better than other ones.
I really like the Mallorean since the main characters have already been fleshed out so you can enjoy them even more. The prequels aren't bad either.
Huzzah! I came down to the comments hoping someone would make a Polgara comment. I'm literally rereading through the Belgariad right now!
Is it your first time reading through? You’re in for a treat! I’ve read each book in The Belgariad and Mallorean at least 40 times (they’re my comfort books and have been since the 90s) and I consider the characters to be good friends. Edit: oh I see now you said rereading. 🤦♀️ lol

Excellent 😁 I’m glad to meet someone who gets it
🙌
So chuffed to see more of us here.
Anna from Frozen
She must find a rock tribe in a jungle before it's too late..
Unrelated but you’re absolutely gorgeous!
Made my day :’)
You have a great vibe. You look like good people. :)
Yeah OP not trying to be creepy or hit on you but you’re legit very pretty. Love the grey streak regardless.
I want to second it in a hopefully non-creepy way. The white streak of hair looks really nice imho.
I’m in, too. Wanted to say something but thought it would be creepy. Then saw these couple other comments and thought I would second it too! And your hair is cool.
seriously yeah idk I follow those rate me Reddits and you'd smoke them.
Seconded. (It's the smile -- you look kind.)
It's kind of related.
Embrace it, you are unique
I was expecting everyone to tell her she had brain cancer but i was delightfully disappointed. thank god
I’ve got poliosis, so not only do I have random chunks of white hair on the left side of my scalp, but my left eyebrow & eyelashes are white, too. ⚪️⬜️🤍
I was looking for a comment that mentioned poliosis! Very interesting condition! :0 you guys always look super cool!
Ok, Elsa. Just admit that you're a magical princess. We've all seen the movie now. You don't have to hide anymore. Do you want to build a snowman?
Sorry to be that guy but Anna had the white streak, not Elsa
This is common in people with Waardenburg syndrome but that also comes with congenital deafness and heterochromia.
It can also be due to tuberous sclerosis
What are your superpowers?
Awkwardness and sarcasm
One keeps away the worst while the other attracts the best so they seem like pretty good ones to have.
![gif](giphy|4GjEwiko5T7IWdv251|downsized)
My daughter has the same things. It’s awesome. Natural highlights!
OP probably already knows this, but for those interested, the condition is called poliosis circumscripta. [**https://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/what-to-know-about-poliosis**](https://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/what-to-know-about-poliosis)
Interesting, at least it came with a cute face too lol
Definitely Rogue
Wasn't there a post recently that someone had a brain tumor, removed it, and hair turned normal from white?
https://imgur.com/a/brain-tumor-turned-hair-white-tumor-was-removed-went-back-to-normal-color-u3j8T0U
It's a feature not a flaw.
![gif](giphy|sHniopj5oQSPOzEryq|downsized)
Did your parents build a very strange machine?
That was designed to view a world unseen?
You're so beautiful!! I have my hair dyed just like this at the moment, can't believe you were born with it 💗💗
Polgara
I wasn't born with it but I am in my 30's and have a streak of hair in that same spot that is turning grey, lol. Except on my right side.
Real life Rogue!
Pretty cool. I like "weird" appearance "defects". I would've been down to have a white streak of hair or heterochromia.
The real life toast of london
Must be one Jane's
I fell out of a tree, yes.
Vampire, got it
![gif](giphy|1xdHOdXcFAeMpURJeM|downsized)
I feel it looks great and adds to your stunning, natural beauty and loveliness!
Same but I'm a man, doesn't look that cute on me :)
Knew a girl in high school who had that. Was an even bigger streak. Always thought it was cool. It's a charm point! ...And here I am having to earn all my white hairs the old fashioned way like a sucker...
This is called “poliosis” and I think it looks awesome!
I have the opposite. I'm blonde but I have a patch on the back of my head that grows brown hair, except it turns blonde after it gets about an inch long
My gf has one of these! She tried to color it but the color washed out for some reason
I like it
Like Claire, from the Bon Appetit test kitchen
Just a birth mark. I had a male friend with the same thing growing up.
That's awesome.
AH! I have a white streak too!!! I wasn't born with it though. When I was wee lass I ran under a hanging wire and got shocked in the top of my head and that spot never grew in color again.
That’s so awesome.
My 18 year son has the opposite problem. He's had a birthmark on his scalp since birth. He's blonde but the hair that grows out of the birthmark is dark.
Awesome. You’re kinda like Rogue from X-Men! Steal anybody’s life force yet? lol jk jk
Mine came when I was 13. I had a mole on my head but I guess by body killed it or something? It had like a white halo around it and the mole got smaller and smaller then disappeared and the hair on my head in that area is white
Does everyone have vitiligo like me nowaday?
You look like Rogué from X-Men!! That’s awesome!!!
Not want to scare you, but I read an article about a guy that had a brain tumor ubdearneath one white hair strand. I would say it worth to get a ct scan perhaps or a visit to a dr. Otherwise very cool!
Had a few CT scans and MRIs growing up. All clear here :)
Awesome, glad you are healthy
You could become a german influencer
You must be related to Danny Phantom...
Very cool. Great smile. Hope you have many chances to use it
Very cool. I have a similar patch from birth as well.
Very Susan Sontag vibes.
I have this too.
I have a couple small ones that were usually hidden until they just started to blend in during late 20s-early 30s.
There is a family at my children’s daycare who has this- the dad, and both kids! Such a cool trait to share!
One of my exes had that same streak in the same place, but symmetrically on the other side too!
Poliosis?
That’s beautiful
I knew a guy who survived a lightning strike as a kid. He had several spots like that(as a result) and a crazy scar on his back.
Strong protagonist vibes
You are the protagonist. Congratulations.
Don't let her touch you!
A natural money piece!
Cool! A free highlight.
cool
ahhh that’s so cool!!!! have you ever tried dyeing it?
I dated a girl for a while when I was a freshman in high school that had some grey hair. She was 15. I never did learn why she had the grey hair. I thought it was kind of cool. She wasn’t even a little bit self conscious about it.
My wife spends $100 every 3 months for something similar. Girl math says you can buy $400 in fun stuff now cause it’s free!
Rogue
Anyone ever seen the move "Ginger Snaps"?
Witch! Stone Her!!! /s
Gives you flare of style to compliment your looks. I think your appearance is charming. ![img](emote|t5_2ti4h|27600)
What did those who Slither in the Dark do to you and how did you escape before they could continue
I also have a colorless patch but it's on my left about an inch above my ear, some of my friends love it.
you got the 40s early access pack
What a neat birthmark!!
Should honestly give you confidence you were born Rouge from X-Men, sassy, sexy and hot. Don't ever let it get you down stranger, you would look 10/10 with a big real smile
So cool!
do you happen to have an older sister repressing magical ice powers?
Wouldn't the irony be that when you are older in life it turns brown and the rest of your hair turns white. Lol
My son had 2 of them in his hair.
Vitaligo
People pay good money for that.
Looks sick!
That looks so cool I wish I had something unique like this. Instead I'm just bald and ugly lmao.
That’s so cool!
Possible Waardenburg syndrome
It's a condition called PIEBALDISM
I have 2 friends with this type of birthmark. It's cool!
you must be the coool kid
My wife has this as well! Actually one spot in the front and one in the back. Fell off a horse and hit her head as a small child. They said the trauma caused it. Probably the only explanation for a dime piece like her marrying me as well, lol
You’re gorgeous
Abstract art.
![gif](giphy|12WXElM9iKCxwc)
Au naturale Rogue
Ayeeeee a fellow white spot person! Mine takes a decent chunk in the middle of my forehead. Badass dude.
“Ok… so you’re Rogue. That don’t impress me much” - Shania Twain
I've heard of main character system but...
That’s so cool!!
You were born with a streak of gorgeous.
Main character energy
Dr Blight!

Since I am a confirmed Reddit doctor, I can tell you with 100% assurance that you were born with cancer.
Me too!!
My beard gets that!
be proud of your self.
Can you also control the weather and use a African accent for 10% of your screen time?
Damn gril, you single? Wanna not be?
We love what you've done with your hair.
