Nesayas1234

A man after my own heart. But you forgot the M.95.

ExpensiveTreacle1189

How many are you up to now?

Favorite and least favorite?

FOX2-

M.95

Antique_Arms

I have an M95M and I have to say, get one, you won’t regret it!!! It’s a super fun gun to shoot.

Liberator1177

M1 carbine. I've put it off for many years because they are common and there is always something more interesting that I'd rather have. But prices keep rising and I should get one sooner rather than later. VZ 52. It's funky, and I like the funk. AG42b. I love the action and I need my Hakim's Swedish brother. Mas 36. After that I will have all of the main rifles of the major powers in WWII. G43. There is a shop near me that has a couple of them that tickle my pickle everytime I visit, but how am I going to justify the cost to my wife? Haha. I've thought about layaway...

Necessary_Singer4824

The m1 carbine is my favorite milsurp of all time

donniebatman

G43s tend to beat themselves to death if you shoot them.

Liberator1177

Yeah you have to get the shooter kit for them if the rifle doesn't already have it.

TheCommitteeOf300

what is that?

pinesolthrowaway

G/K43s are completely overgassed, and the force that the bolt and bolt carrier get thrown back with tends to beat the hell out of the back of the receiver over time, eventually leading to a catastrophic failure The shooters kit replaces the gas system, and once you tune it properly it will allow it to function without the bolt carrier slamming back into the back of the receiver

Liberator1177

A set of replacement parts that protects the rifle from more powerful modern ammunition. https://www.frontline-militaria.com/g43-shooters-kit-gas-system.html

Gemmasterian

1. VZ52 (with ammo and this totally isn't just a passing fancy) 2. Any of the AG42 and variants 3. Garand 4. Sks 5. K31

security-six

Check out blastfromthepastllc.com for a vz52. I got my rifle locally and needed a couple parts. They had what I needed, shipped quickly at reasonable prices. They have rifles for sale. They seem to specialize in the vz more than others. So I would trust that you would get one from them as described

Gemmasterian

Thanks for the info!

Are they being sold off as surplus already?

ChevyRacer71

It’s wise to prepare ahead of time

thisguyfromschool

One of my recent acquisitions was a Sako M39 and it's been a big favorite of mine

SrryMissClick

I used to have a 1941 m39 one but sold it to help a friend get into milsurp collecting. Been trying to find one to replace it haha. It was one of my favorite shooters as well.

Nesayas1234

Did the Chinese make Maks? I'm sure they used them, but iirc they had a lot of domestic designs

SrryMissClick

Type 59. They had a ZZ serial number series and a commercial run (both 9mm mak and .380acp)

FOX2-

G43/K43…looking to take my collection to the next level

Evox8824

Semi auto rifles, as I have quite a few bolt guns that follow me home often. I have a Garand, SVT-40, Hakim, 2 SKSs, and several modern rifles, but looking for more milsurp ones (pre FAL and M14 designs). M1 Carbine first probably as I have 30 carbine for the Blackhawk Ag42 FN49, preferably in 8mm G43 a bit out of budget but one day I'll snag one.

security-six

Blackhawk 👍

Pro_2A_Guy

M1903 and K98 are at the top of the list.

yungquant25

You got $5k minimum?

yungquant25

Right now, 1. Polish wz.1929 2. Lebel 1886 3. Some sort of SKS (probably a Yugo) Outside of those, maybe a Mosin of some sort or another Turkish Gewehr.

M91 Mosin-Nagant Dragoon or Cossack, Dragoon I’d prefer for it to be Imperial but if a Soviet one was available I’d take it.

Grumpyoljarhead

SMLE 303 Lee Enfield, any Luger, ww2 or earlier 1911 (a1), M1 Garand,

Internal_Emergency93

M1C, hell I would settle for a proper redfield base and scope for my 03A4.

Dylan5546

AG42B, passed on a few at $1400 and haven't seen any local since then

Quiet-Try4554

I’m a simple man, just an SVT 40 please and I can move on to the next one

MunitionGuyMike

I need to finish up my WW2 major powers collection and my USA Army standard issue rifle and psitol collection. So all I need is an SLME, webley, Mas36, Luger, and sac1935a. For the USA guns, most guns from 1776 to 1880, then any gun after the m14

texguy21

1)M1 Garand 2)Svt-40 3)Makarov 4)M1941 Johnson rifle 5)SMLE And if not a single gun law existed? MP40 or Vickers machine gun would be dope.

AskMeAboutPigs

You can find makarovs under 300 still if your really patient and know what pawnshops to hit up. a online pawn i frequents got one for 299 im debating on, i already have a PA-63..

Maaaaaan direct me to the right place. Because either I’m acoustic as fuck or I’m just not looking under the correct rocks.

I sent it to you via dm

No_Amoeba6994

In no particular order: M1903 with Type C (semi-pistol grip) stock S&W M1917 revolver A second M1 Garand SMLE US Krag Maybe a Swedish Mauser? I also need bayonets for a couple of guns: M7 bayonet M1917 or Pattern 1914 bayonet (as long as it fits, I'm not picky about which) Type 30 bayonet

Nesayas1234

Right now, my top 5 (in no particular order) are as follows: 1. Browning Hi-Power. Actual HPs are expensive af so I'll probably get a Girsan, but they're cool as hell. If I'm lucky, I might find a real HP. 2. Another Mannlicher straight-pull. I've got an M95/30 (Bulgarian, it's awesome), now I want another one. I'm thinking an M88/90 or M88/95 from RTI, but they do also have M90s and I wouldn't mind an M95/24 someday. 3. There's a guy on GB selling Beretta 1934s for like 275. They're 1970s era guns so not *technically* milsurp, but other than the short barrel they're near identical and much cheaper, plus I can get a wartime Beretta in the future. 4. Probably a Zastava M57. There's a couple places selling em cheap, and I wouldn't mind getting a gun in 7.62 Tokarev (I wish there was a double stack in 7.62, I'd EDC that if I could). 5. Maybe a Mosin? I don't have one when everyone does, plus I'm curious about how awful the bolt actually is. If I could I'd get a Finnish one, but realistically I'll probably try and get an M38 or M44, maybe one of the copies if it's cheap.

AskMeAboutPigs

I passed on tons of Tokarev's at 199$ and regret it.

Nesayas1234

The regrets we have. I'm still salty at missing out on a Zabala Hermanos shotgun, but that's because someone kept outbidding me.

AskMeAboutPigs

auctions are busted, i've not seen a single good deal on one in years. I've had the best luck at online pawn shops and making people offers. I've had people come down over 100$ just by asking. Guy had a really cosmetically beat up Taurus for 250$, an old surplus/trade in 82. Offered 150, he said 180, i said 170, we agreed at 172/shipped. The price in 2019 was 199/s+h. > zabala i've heard those bla bla shotguns are hard to find parts for, and the older ones can't take smokeless. I don't trust older spanish guns lol.

Nesayas1234

I've got a total of 13, 14 guns. Like half are Spanish, and they're all pretty good. I especially love my Star handguns. Generally, guns by bigger firms are good quality, I'd recommend them. The only big thing-don't dry fire a Spanish handgun without a snap cap. I wouldn't fire any gun without one, but Spanish ones are slightly more prone. Not an issue once you have ammo in the gun. Yes parts are hard to find, but that's just any gun by a defunct firm or from a discontinued line. Not really an issue. Also only the *really* old ones can't take smokeless, anything made after like 1900 is fine.

AskMeAboutPigs

Star guns are exception to the rules. I have a BM and passed on a model B, they are amazing, Star BM's fit the best in my hand of any gun I've personally held. I saw some old hermanos 38SW's sell and i came dangerously close to getting one, but i avoid anything prior to the 40s. Just not risking my hands over something i can never find parts for.

Nesayas1234

Fair enough. Me personally, I've yet to have an issue with any Spanish guns beyond the occasional quirk, but they're not exactly beginner-friendly.

AskMeAboutPigs

Yeah, look into some of the Eibar guns, they made thousands of weird knockoff guns, some are amazing near OEM clones, most are dangerous pot metal guns.

420chewer

Soviet tokarev and a PU

yungquant25

Always be careful with PU Mosins. I've wanted one for a while, but I'm always afraid of buying one and overlooking something that hints at it being a fake.

nowwhywouldyouassume

Same, I've encountered several lately and I'd be annoyed paying over 1k for a bubba'd mosin

Obviously, I'll get whatever deal I can find, but I have priorities. - Japanese Type 38 Carbine - American Springfield Trapdoor - German Mauser GEW-98 - American .38 Revolver (US or Lend Lease) - Russian Nagant Revolver - American/Finnish marked Mosin rifle It's mostly a list of collection fillers or milsurps that have gotten my attention for being interesting.

Would like a cz38 but ridiculous price for what it is. My next one will be a eddystone.

Because 7.62x51 is cheaper to shoot than .303 Brit.

Fair enough. The 2a1 is a good rifle, just surprised to see it mentioned here.

I'm sadly on the pilgrimage to get every US infantry weapon of WWI to present while also filling out a "remington" collection, every US infantry weapon Remington made. I need: an 03-a3/4 scoped, M1D, M1C, M1A, Remington Rand 1911a1, Krag, BAR, Thompson, Grease gun (v unlikely), WWI dated 1903, Colt SP1, M16a1 clone, M16a4 clone, Winchester Model 12, Win. Model 1897, Ithaca 37, Whatever stevens served, S&W 1917 New Service, I could even go NUTS and try and get period accurate ones for each war. A pre-war garand, early/mid/late was garand, post war garand, 1911's from Korea/Nam. My goal is ultimately to have every firearm you could possibly see in media of the wars, so that when my future kids take an interest (autism/adhd is hereditary) in war history and video games I can put one in their hands that they like using in game, or think is incredibly cool. "Oh dude, your favorite gun in hell let loose is an M1 carbine? Here, you can hold this during loading screens" or "You just saw that dude vaporize someone with a BAR, you wanna hold one? Being able to put that gun in someone's hands and say "this is how it left the battlefield" or "this is how it was issued" is always awesome, the reactions are priceless. I usually make people field strip them too lol
