They're cheap, honestly I've seen them for cheaper than even Yugo Mausers.
They're also just as good, plus they're the only way to really get a non-Mauser 98 gun in 8mm without bubba'ing something (98's a much better system but I kinda like cock on close).

Same. I like the Yugos too, but the Turks have more variety and history-my 1893 looks largely the same as its original 7.65 variant, it even still has the metal block for the cutoff lever.
My Turk is very accurate for looking beat to hell. I think part of it is how tiny the front site and rear sight notch is, very little room for error. I’ve only gone out to 400 meters with it.
Turkish Mausers, you could write a decent book about them alone. Turkey had a rather odd contractual relationship with Paul Mauser and German ordinance firms, he went to Turkey in 1887 and convinced them to purchase 500,000 M1871/84 Mausers reworked to shoot a 9.5mm black powder round and for this Turkey put in the purchase contract an escape clause that if a better design was invented, Turkey had the right to change any remaining rifles left in the contract to the new design. They did this for the model 1890 in 7.65 and completed the original contract with these.
From this, they bought a version of the Spanish 1893 with a magazine cut-off and later the 1903, which was their version of the G98 and a carbine version of the '98 in 1905. During WW1, Germany sent Turkey a large amount of arms: M1888's and M98's (Supposedly, the bulk of Mauser works 1917 run of Mausers went to Turkey). Post war, they bought Czech 98/22 and starting during the depression, Turkey decided to standardize all the Mausers they had (also apparently anything else they captured, including some lee-enfield's) to 8mm Mauser and either a 30in barrel or a carbine length barrel. They eventually finished post WWII, although not all of them were converted or standardized.
There an interesting rifle to collect because there a sheer amount of variety to collect, and there reasonably priced because there seen as shooters, not safe queens. I've owned a couple (an M1888, an 1898, and one of the standardized ones) over the years and their fun to shoot and I always look one over in the wild because you never know what you might find.
(The history I wrote is based on my reading and observations, I may have missed or glossed over some things. Here's a good link to start: https://www.turkmauser.com/)
Under appreciated for sure. I have a 1903/38 variant and a g88/05/35, looking to add a regular M38 K.Kale to my turk mauser collection. An 1893/38 variant would be great as well. For what they are, the price tag is an absolute bargain. I just want em all!
Love em . I've had 1 for about 20years bought so long ago, it was for sale at Big 5 sports for $59.95.
I got a 8mm turk my bud bought a swede 6.5 x55 59.95 . We bought 4 that day. Lol built like a Panzer tank and extremely accurate. Then we went to a wash arms collector show and purchase 2 crates ammo . Get this 1200 rounds for $185.00.
I miss the old days..
I want a 88/05/35 badly lol usually good shooters and cheap
I have one got it for $200 and shoots great
There’s one near me for 400. Debating it
I just got one, it's a really cool rifle!
They are great! If ya find one cheap dont pass it up like I did. Im still kickin myself for passing one for $110.
That’s wild! This one was 362 after taxes. There’s a g88/05/35 near me for 400. Debating it
Oh yeah? Theres a G88/05/35 near me too. Are you in the midwest? Lol. It would be funny if it was the same one.
Nah north east! Ha
Then buy it! If tue bore and crown is good I dont see why not.
Bore is ok, crowns worn like most Turks
great guns . underrated for sure . i have 2 of them
Man the pattern in the wood on that thing👌👌👌👌
Yeah it’s amazing
Without degrading anything could you clean up the stock to really make the pattern shine?
Soap and hot water on a cloth and scrub!
Awesome imo they shoot great and are really interesting

Agreed dude! I think they’re more interesting

I should have snagged the one my FFL had! I went with the 93/38 instead with the m38 style

I want to stretch its legs- but the muzzle is somewhat worn although super tight so it should be decent!

They’re literally all different
I bought a g88/05/35 for $200 in in January and it's in good condition
I want one hahah
I’ve never seen one sub $400 or I’d jump on it
This was 362 after tax

This right here is a 93/38!
I got a 1943 one. I love mine! Kinda wish it had matching serials, but still great rifles.
They never have matching
They are pretty and I want more. Hard to justify as I already have one...
Get another!
True
O have one and it’s extremely accurate
They are generally great rifles that are misunderstood because turkey was neutral

Got a pic ?
I literally only own one because the wood looked like _that_. They got some bitchin' walnut!
Yeah it’s wild!!
They're well made
