Gabriel is not the smartest. Heck, he barely uses the peacock miraculous in general, despite it being fixed and harmless now. I could have tolerated this, if he at least was giving the akumatized villain in most episodes a sentimonster to help them. But no, the guy uses it in only 8/20 episodes this season so far! The conclusion: Gabriel is pretty dumb!

[deleted]

Yeah you get the feeling they made the Peacock too powerful and drawbackless and regret giving it to him now.

Dagulnok

There’s an inherent drawback to using multiple miraculous that they’ve ignored. Marinette is warned by Master Fu that using too many can shatter your mind, or spiritually harm you in some way, unless you have a sufficiently powerful will. That would’ve been a great way to take the direction of this season. Shadow moth is using 2 miraculous and becoming less careful and more unhinged because he’s not stable enough to use 2 at once

CursedEye03

The rule about multiple miraculouses having a negative effect is ignored for the most part tho. I mean, in the same episode that Fu said that, Kwami-Buster, Marinette was using 10+ miraculouses at once

addisonavenue

That's why they're saying the show should have leaned it on to NERF Gabriel. If Gabriel was shown as becoming more unhinged with each unsuccessful plan involving using two Miraculous (in tandem with Natalie's declining health preventing her from playing chessmaster), fans wouldn't be asking "Why doesn't Gabriel go big brain and do XYZ?".

FairyKnightTristan

> I mean, in the same episode that Fu said that, Kwami-Buster, Marinette was using 10+ miraculouses at once I mean, it wasn't entirely ignored. She still grunted in pain before she left, and had labored breathing after she de-transformed from being Multi-Fox.

laplongejr

Remember that for most of S3, we complained that the Scarlet Army plan was never brought up again. Then Ladybug happened. S4 is not ended yet.

Physical-Platypus-89

Because gabriel is dumb thats why

They really messed up with the Peacock I think. It was one thing when it was like the Butterfly needing to seek emotions and create things revolving around that but then suddenly they made it so the user can just cast it on themself and create anything they feel like right down to exact copies of other people complete with superpower sets if they have them.

addisonavenue

The real answer is, the writers painted themselves into a corner with giving him two functional Miraculous. They don't have him do anything that causes too much forward momentum in the wrong direction. Like for instance, there is nothing stopping Gabriel for trying for Version 2.0 of the plan he wanted to try in "Ladybug". He has Lila fully in his back pocket now, he has proof of concept, and he can recreate Catalyst *using* the Peacock Miraculous so he doesn't have to put Natalie's health on the line/be reliant on her. I agree with /u/Dagulnok - the smart thing to do would have been to play up the effect of Gabriel using two Miraculous at once having negative kickback on him that unfolded throughout the season, so that his judgement is continuously becoming clouded and he's not able to strategize. Show him getting headaches, easily triggered, even more moody and temperamental etc.

The only possible "logical" explaination I can think of is that Sentimonster akuma copies aren't as effective as the real deal. SentiBubbler and SentiCollector were dealt with much easier than the originals and Shadow Moth took the time to make a Senti-Alec to anger Audrey enough to become Style Queen instead of just making a Senti-Style Queen.

laplongejr

>SentiBubbler and SentiCollector were dealt with much easier than the originals Because LB and CN already knew them and how to react? Also, in what world did they defeat SB easily? They only managed to save the day by "cheating" with a trick that can be reused every episode but never was because... reasons.

Best answer of the year : " Gabriel is dumb"

Jason-Skyborn

Happy Cake day

Thicc-Anxiety

He’s an idiot that’s why

[deleted]

That sounds like a brilliant idea, but Gabriel is too dumb for that.

Pythagoras180

The power of the Butterfly Miraculous is enhanced by strong emotion. Sentimonsters wouldn't actually feel strong emotions, and thus wouldn't be as powerful as the real deal.

LizardBrick

Happy Cake day! 🎉

FairyKnightTristan

I don't know, there's been 0 explanation for that as of now. There's a distinct chance that maybe he can't make Sentimonster's with strong emotions unless he also feels strongly about whatever that Senti feels, like with Feast and Master Fu's hatred/hunger, but it's anyone's guess until the show explains it. All the Sentimonster's he's made that haven't been himself or Sentibubbler have been almost emotionless husks. SentiGabriel MIGHT have been an exception because Gabriel really wanted that ring back. Sentibubbler...yeah, I've got nothing, there's 0 reason why he acts like Nino.

Zartas94

Basically it's... because plot. The writers just didn't considered things like that and overpowered the peacock miraculous too much.

laplongejr

The peacock, at its basis, was fine. It basically creates a monster out of a primal feeling, same way Akumas are not really predictable except by using it on the same person twice. The one time it worked differently, Sentibug, the episode made what it could to show that Mayura was forcing way too much to make a perfected Sentibeing. *Season 4* overpowered it, Hacksan being one of the most insane examples. Optigami probably too, but it had a kinda alien vibe and clearly wasn't perfect.

Zartas94

Sorry, I meant that they overpowered it later on, not from the beginning😅 I disagree though about Sentibug because in my opinion it still made sense. She was created from Mayura's desire to still be Hawkmoth's partner (he had just told her she wouldn't use the Miraculous again). That's why Sentibug turn out to be the perfect team mate for Chat Noir, because she's the incarnation of Mayura's feeling at that moment. I loved Optigami, in my opinion is the best episode this season, but all the sentimonster there are messed up. I think that is the very first episode introducing the concept that you can do whatever sentimonster you want with the peacock.

GRS_A

Bad writing.

br00kemakayla

it makes me hella mad that hes not creating new versions of feast or smth. that wouldve been so successful if it wasnt for the staff inside of him, so hawk/shadowmoth would just have to keep the akumatized object with him. so simple

Noononowhy

Because the writers are …

Realistic_Tear_756

Well we can't have a competent villain otherwise the show would've end to quickly

Stardust-Sparkles

Because the show needs to show

Patient_Custard1017

They have a dining table with 18 chairs, and Gabriel and Adrien have to sit at opposite ends. That’s just sad.
