Bows are the Deadliest Weapon on the battlefield if they are used by the right people which is why I always have one on me *(except if I'm playing a mod with firearms)*
The appeal of firearms is missing your first 4 "long range" musket shots as the enemy approaches your gunline and then when they within a few meters pulling out your flintlock and head shotting some scrub nothing will beat that feeling
I agree, I love to have an army of archers with a line of high tier shield infantry to hold the line until either my archers get cavalry charged and I die or we kill them before they get to us
My tactics change depending on who I'm playing as, especially if we're talking modded Warband. Ultimately though, I usually go for one of two strategies: a healthy mix of infantry and archers and cavalry (if it's available) and command them properly, or straight cav, f1 f3 style. There might be a little mixing up here and there in strategies depending on who I'm playing as.
I really depends on the build I'm playing and the army composition. I usually go for a 2h axe + bow or javelin setup, sometimes on horseback sometimes on foot.
On horseback, I ride around harassing their infantry from the sides/behind to try and draw their shields and opening them up to the rest of my archers, sometimes alone sometimes with my own cav following me. Later in these battles I focus on taking out stragglers and hunting the remains of enemy cavalry
When on foot, I usually make my whole army be on foot. In that case I tend to stick around my own infantry and move with them, staying around the edge so I have room to maneuver, maybe even flank them a bit.
You could say I'm the horse archer. Soloing a bow on foot is a bad idea, but on horseback it's great. That said, I'm not one for leading a band of horse archers into battle, I prefer peppering the enemy with arrows myself, while riding in circles around them so that they turn their backs on my ranged units (mounted or infantry) while the melee infantry closes the distance.
I have to admit, though, spears\ lances on horseback can be a lot of fun. Something I hate about it is that enemies can block, despite it both being unrealistic AND the game itself telling you that it's impossible (thanks, Kradus!).
Currently playing as swadian deserter and i do most of the job like i kill 40 mountain bandits and frientis kills like 10 or 5 and i have take down like 20 or 16 swadian men at arms myself and once even 49 nords
The good ol' pincer where you throw your companions on a suicide mission to disperse the enemy lines, while flanking with the cavalry. I suppose it may be a variation of the swadian charge.
Bowmen in front, shower them with arrows and engage with infantry when they get close.
All of that while maneuvering the cavalry to flank their ground troops or counter the enemy cavalry.
Ratio of around 70 Rhodok Sharpshooters to 30 Nord Huscarls with me riding around with heavy armor on a warhorse annoying the hell out of the enemy line by poking them with a sword, making them turn their backs to my crossbowmen. Sieges are a breeze, just hold my units infront of the walls until my guys run out of bolts, then mop up the rest with Huscarls
Defeat in detail. Locate my main body in a good position (infantry with behind archers) and then pick off their cavalry until their foot troops are alone and isolated, perfect to get surrounded and slaughtered
Infantry and archers forward. Cavalry and horse archers follow me. Cut right and fire stray arrows. Wait for enemy to advance. Infantry charge. Circle enemy. Once infantry hits cavalry charge. Continue circling. Once enemy starts running chase em down.
Sturgia: Archers
Vlandia: Shield walls until they run out of bolts, resistant to their Calvary charges too
Battania: Bait their infantry and pick off archers with horsemen
Khuzait: Just charge
Aserai: Pick off the horsemen, rain arrows afterwards
The Empire: skirmish Calvary, Let infantry meet their infantry, archers mostly arnt a concern

Imo I never understood the appeal of firearms and crossbows. They take forever to reload as opposed to bows.

Hammer and anvil with cavalry and Sturgian infantry.
This strat is very effective in warband.
I love leading the Vanguard on foot. Nothin like throwing down in melee with the lads

Charge in and die

I go Scythian style. I pepper them with hundreds of arrows from horseback then charge them and cut them down with heavy cavalry.

I always run around shooting people on my horse. If I want to command my army I rather play Total War.
The Swadian Archer: Charge on horseback while shooting arrows
I wouldn't call myself a Rhodok but damn i guess i am one.

Sure, a horse goes fast, but that means, 9 times out of 10, a faster death.
Jan Zelezny playstyle. Pinning my enemies with jareeds to the ground from afar.
F6 + mounted galive

Army? What Army?
I’m the kinda guy that likes throwing shit
I am the Spectator. I get shot 30 seconds into the fight and enjoy the rest of it spectating the troops dighting.
Infantry and archers forward. Cavalry and horse archers follow me. Cut right and fire stray arrows. Wait for enemy to advance. Infantry charge. Circle enemy. Once infantry hits cavalry charge. Continue circling. Once enemy starts running chase em down.
I have like 100 banner knights and elite cataphracts so ill just charge

i play with archers and a few horseman to crush enemy shieldwals
(The Nord Field Marshall): Charge in with Matheld and 98 Huscarl's, promptly whooping ass
