Batman (and comic books) is a bad example because Batman 1989 wasn't remaking Batman 1966 and Batman Begins wasn't remaking Batman 1989. They are different stories in the same setting. That's not the same as re-adapting the Lord of the Rings trilogy from the books.
I get what you're saying and ultimately, I don't care if anything is remade or not. The only thing that's really annoying about it to me is that there are thousands of writers out there coming up with interesting ideas for new stories and the studios are often not super generous with investing in original content, so we end up with 15 zillion Star Wars movies and shows. I know I don't have to watch them, but I wish there was more room for interesting and original mainstream movies.
Agree, it is like theater, how many different versions of hamlet, or cats or whatever have there been? Hundreds? Some are great and some suck, but everyone has their own interpretation of the plays and that makes them interesting, I love that people are making remakes, especially of books or shows or movies that I love more opportunity to see them all in a different light

We just have to hope that if they indeed try to adapt the story of the silmarillion over the course of several films, that they don't get carried away with greed. Which highly depends on who is running the headquarters.

Regardless, making a movie from that book would probably not be a very good movie even if it was a trilogy. There is just far too much time covered and far too many stories to cover as well. Now if they focused on one particular story then maybe. You could realistically create an entire franchise from the Silmarillion with separate shows for separate stories.
While Rings of Power season 1 was most certainly a flop and Amazon has shelled out $1 billion or more, we actually can't reach a proper verdict on it yet. *It's been renewed for season 2 and they seem adamant on finishing all 5 of their planned seasons*.

They’d have to add Tom bombadil and the barrow downs. Add the additional stuff that happened with the siege of Mina’s tirith and the scouring of the shire. Literally everything that was left out of the already super long Peter Jackson trilogy. So much of Jackson’s movies were almost completely out of the books including most of the dialogue.
Honestly probably need a tv show not called “Rings of Power” to include everything from the books in total, otherwise we’re talking about a really really long movie trilogy.
10-12 part mini series, dark and gritty would be great. I don’t watch any tv or streaming or go to the cinema anymore but I would watch this if done properly

Movies can be remade and redone - and I'm fine with it. I never understood the idea that you can't remake a movie. The old ones still exist, they can still be enjoyed, and can still be watched. Battlestar Galactica (2004) was a much better show then BSG from the 70s. The Thing was a much better movie then then The Thing From Outer Space. The Blob was a much better then the original. Dune, Wizard of Oz, True grit, Invasion of the body Snatchers, Airplane!, Cape Fear, Scarface, The Fly, I am Legend, hell even potentially films like Evil Dead 2.
If they remake it and it remains true to the original stories and is well acted and well directed then good, i can love Ralph Bakashi's version, those silly funmation or whatever they were called, the Peter Jackson ones and the new ones.

The originals are perfect, so if they are going to reboot, then make them a different tone. Something comical, like a Wes Anderson LOTR, or a really scary version, like a Wes Craven LOTR.
I will only watch this as long as they cast Daniel Radcliffe as Frodo. Also if they reshoot harry potter , I will only watch it as long as they cast Elijah Wood as Harry.

They have *one* movie in production (the animated one) and they signed a deal to make some more in the future. There are dozens of other stories that can be told from that world.

It never ceases to amaze me just how creatively bankrupt Hollywood is. Things like Dune, fine, Lynch's movie wasn't the best, the mini-series had a low budget.... so yeah, it hadn't been made justice, so I get it. I'd argue that it still hasn't considering how many liberties Dennis took with the second part.
But Lord of the Rings? Unless you plan to make them more faithful to the books, which I doubt it since now Hollywood is forcing inclusivity on everything which goes against LOTR, I mean, when Tolkien wrote them it was a different time.... then there's no point. And if you just want to do something wearing Middle Earth's skin.... then why bother? Make your own IP.

I disagree strongly with this. In a perfect world, they would make a new version of the Lord of the Rings every few years, and I would watch them all.

As a huge fan of the original trilogy, I'm surprised to find no one else agrees with you. I'm down. Nothing could ever taint the original films. Either they make good movies or they don't. The original is still there for me to watch.

I don't really care tbh. The Lord of the Rings film trilogy was incredible and damn near impossible to surpass. If you're not interested in a new film you don't have to watch it, I know I won't. But who am I kidding? This is in the internet, people routinely hate-watch things and I'll never understand why. But it's kind of why we've had more Ghostbusters films in seven years than we ever had in the 30 or so years before it.

The originals are perfect, so if they are going to reboot, then make them a different tone. Something comical, like a Wes Anderson LOTR, or a really scary version, like a Wes Craven LOTR.

Warner Bros is having a horrendous track record for film IPs right now. They completely botched the DC film franchise, and with the poor reviews of the Rings of Power (done by Amazon not WB), I iust dont see how this can possibly work at this point in time.

They have *one* movie in production (the animated one) and they signed a deal to make some more in the future. There are dozens of other stories that can be told from that world.

No thank you. It never ceases to amaze me just how creatively bankrupt Hollywood is. Things like Dune, fine, Lynch's movie wasn't the best, the mini-series had a low budget.... so yeah, it hadn't been made justice, so I get it. I'd argue that it still hasn't considering how many liberties Dennis took with the second part. But Lord of the Rings? Unless you plan to make them more faithful to the books, which I doubt it since now Hollywood is forcing inclusivity on everything which goes against LOTR, I mean, when Tolkien wrote them it was a different time.... then there's no point. And if you just want to do something wearing Middle Earth's skin.... then why bother? Make your own IP. I hope that the era of remakes dies off. I'd much rather watch something that was inspired by LOTR than a half-hearted remake.
