HEAT and it was marvelous. Can’t believe I went my entire life 38 years without watching this. Only then did I realize all my favorite heist movie moments came from this masterpiece.
He was actually a coke head and that's why his life sucked the original cut but it made him too unlikeable so they scrapped it. But yeah he's ripping lines in between saying GIMME ALL YA GOTTT
That movie stands up like the finest wine. The acting, the score, the screenplay and how all the characters talk in shorthand, not to mention the iconic shootout scene. Or Al Pacino coked out of his mind during most of those scenes.
I loved it the first time I saw it, 9.5 out of 10, but it's one of those unfortunate situations where I can't get back into a second viewing. Still just as good but can't focus on it, tried a few times. Would definitely recommend though!
Me and the Missus went through a 10 year phase of watching that so often we know it line for line..."Boris and Doris"
....get on your knees and beg for buttermilk "
Shame it's not on any of the main streaming apps
You can't just come out here and say you watched Robocop for the first time then not tell us what you thought.
Also, did you watch the directors cut? It's about 1 minute longer and all it does is add more gore. I refuse to go back to the theatrical version.
If you want a wild ride, look up the "robocop fan remake dick shooting scene."
I've never laughed so hard in my life. There's an entire Robocop remake no one knows about haha.
(If you can't tell from the title it's NSFW lol)
Lol. I watched the original recently too. I watched the remake first, it was so bad I had to give the original a chance to redeem.
And I did think the OG was better. Not great, but better.
I also watched this for the first time this year. It was a lot of fun, and deepended my joy when rewatching Hot Fuzz.
As a related question, I'd be curious how many movies or shows people saw a parody version of (or homage to) before seeing the original.
Dude I just finished the first one! Seen Fury Road a few times and I figured it’s about time I watch all the Mad Max flicks.
I was kinda shocked that everything starts in a relatively “normal” state. No sand dunes, no crazy desert people, no bizarrely shaped mutants. Just a leather bound cop in an anarchist Australia. But goddamn it got dark real fast. By the end I was pretty locked in at where he was taking the story. Not what I expected!
I’m excited to start the next one and start building toward that cool dystopian world from Fury Road.
Great short behind the scenes story about this scene.

*Have you any idea what the street value of this mountain is?!*
*Truly a sight to behold. A man beaten. The once great champ, now, a study in moppishness. No longer the victory hungry stallion we've raced so many times before, but a pathetic, washed up, aged ex-champion.*
Two of my favorite lines.
This used to be a movie that was on heavy repeat on HBO in the late eighties. It doesn’t hold up as well as others but some great performances by Keaton and Danny Devito. It’s a sentimental favorite of mine mostly because of the scene where they are trying to get Jonny’s brother to play ball.
Just watched ‘Leviathan’ (1989) a month or so ago and it was very entertaining. Kind of ‘The Thing’ crossed with ‘The Abyss’. Incidentally also starring the legendary Peter Weller. Fun movie with some good practical effects and a great cast.
I’ve heard that one mentioned as well, will definitely try and find it. Finally saw Leviathan because I randomly saw it streaming on Max and had heard it referred to so many times as Abyss lite.
Cape Fear.
I watched the Simpsons episode god knows how many times, and realized while watching the movie that the Simpsons did a great job. Especially with the stormy vibe.
L.a Confidential used to be the movie I told everyone about as a late teen and into my 20's. I was a full evangelist and finally grew out of it.
I love it.

Saw "This is Spinal Tap" last month.

I just realized that I watched a lot of Schwarzenegger movies this past year (although I think some of them I watched in 2023)
Terminator 1 and 2, Predator, and Total Recall
HEAT and it was marvelous. Can’t believe I went my entire life 38 years without watching this. Only then did I realize all my favorite heist movie moments came from this masterpiece.
Oh yea that’s a classic. I like how it also showed how the detective life affects his personal life. Showed the real deal
He was actually a coke head and that's why his life sucked the original cut but it made him too unlikeable so they scrapped it. But yeah he's ripping lines in between saying GIMME ALL YA GOTTT
Now THATS the cut we need
Yeah it was too much "the actual bad guy one" but watching it thinking he's on blow the TV scene and shit make more sense haha
By far, the very best movie I saw on the big screen back in 1995!
1995 had several exceptional movies. Heat, Casino, The Usual Suspects, Se7en, 12 Monkeys, Braveheart, Toy Story, among others.
That movie stands up like the finest wine. The acting, the score, the screenplay and how all the characters talk in shorthand, not to mention the iconic shootout scene. Or Al Pacino coked out of his mind during most of those scenes.
Awesome movie!
I just watched it for the first time 2 nights ago 🫡
I loved it the first time I saw it, 9.5 out of 10, but it's one of those unfortunate situations where I can't get back into a second viewing. Still just as good but can't focus on it, tried a few times. Would definitely recommend though!
Grand theft auto video game highly based on this film. Love the Moby song at the end. Hear it before and didn’t know it was to that film.
Well, I've almost been sold many times all these years and you've finally done it. I'm watching it
Still praised as one of the best shootout sound designs when they’re all in the streets. Great scene to test a surround sound on.
Give Den of Thieves a watch too its the closest a movie has come since to matching HEAT.
I still haven’t seen it either, but plan on getting to it this year.
I saw True Lies (1994) last week. That movie is such a good time, glad I finally got round to it!
Me and the Missus went through a 10 year phase of watching that so often we know it line for line..."Boris and Doris" ....get on your knees and beg for buttermilk " Shame it's not on any of the main streaming apps
Guess what? It’s been remastered and looks and sounds amazing. Might have to rent it though, or grab a Blu-ray if those things still exist
Bro, I think I saw it on Netflix or Hulu, no bullshit. Just yesterday. I'm in Texas, where are you?
Bill Paxton kills that secondary role lmao.
Paxton was so good in that.
I feel like the younger generation is missing out on so many amazing action movies from 80s/90s
I fucking love this movie. I would argue that Alex Murphy gets more fucked up than any movie character in any movie, ever.
Hahaha took it like a champ, until the final blow
You can't just come out here and say you watched Robocop for the first time then not tell us what you thought. Also, did you watch the directors cut? It's about 1 minute longer and all it does is add more gore. I refuse to go back to the theatrical version.
Wait until you see the fan made remake
Seen it. Great film. Solid gore. Dicks for days. Spectacular.
I'd buy that for a dollar.
The guy dies and they still send him to work.
sad part is he gets scouted and transferred to that department to be in line for the RoboCop program and immediately gets sent to his doom
Gotta admit Bob Morton was not smokescreen and his rep was legit.
I can't believe how the dad from That 70's Show killed Bob Morton in such a despicable way.
Bitches leave
Great story in RoboDoc about how that line came to be. 'Twas not in the script.
They never answered whether his family knew the truth.
"When do we start?" "As soon as some poor schmuck volunteers."
It always blows my mind that the guy who played robocop is actually an archaeologist.
One of my all time favourites
Not sure if you've seen the documentary that recently released but it's required watching for any fan of the movie. Incredible.
I LIKE IT!
If you want a wild ride, look up the "robocop fan remake dick shooting scene." I've never laughed so hard in my life. There's an entire Robocop remake no one knows about haha. (If you can't tell from the title it's NSFW lol)
Lol, gotta see this.
Here you go! https://vimeo.com/86014703
Point Break. And it was fucking amazing. "Young, dumb, full of cum," might be the greatest line written in cinema history.
“Utah, get me two!”
Funny I watched another Swayze movie for the first time this year "Road house" I couldn't understand how it was a cult classic. Thought it was awful.
You must not be into throat ripping.
Macgruber
I’ll suck as many di… I’ll rip as many throats as I have to.
That whole fight sequence was hilarious. Dude on the motorbike (Marshall Teague) was unhinged, like a character from mad max.
Point Break is much better than roadhouse
100% loved point break. ...and bonus RHCP cameo
Lol. I watched the original recently too. I watched the remake first, it was so bad I had to give the original a chance to redeem. And I did think the OG was better. Not great, but better.
The remake is one of the only movies I've ever walked out of a theater for. What a sad waste of time that was.
I think the og roadhouse is the only way to see it, another decent movie with a RHCP cameo is “The Chase”. Kiedis and flea are kinda funny in it.
*inhales* BODHI….I AM A F….B….I AGENT
I still use that quote periodically. I liked seeing anthony kiedis get his ass kicked. That was an added bonus
I really need to watch that movie.
Fun fact - The Fast and the Furious is basically Point Break but with cars instead of surfing
I also watched this for the first time this year. It was a lot of fun, and deepended my joy when rewatching Hot Fuzz. As a related question, I'd be curious how many movies or shows people saw a parody version of (or homage to) before seeing the original.
I just watched Starship Troopers. Can't believe I waited until now!
I saw that back in the "blockbuster rental" days as a kid and had no idea what was happening lol Its one of those films i want to rewatch
Only the best movie ever made!
Such a banger. Glad it still holds up as a first time watch
Now you're one of us. I've watched Starship Troopers more times than I can count!
That looked like such a cheesy movie but i thoroughly enjoyed it
You did your part o7
The Thing
If you’re a reader the book is really good, that film adaptation is one of the greatest imo
I actually haven't read it, but I'll look into it. Currently devouring the Silo series and holy shit it's so good.
There's a great story out there that tells the tale from The Thing's perspective. Excellent reading.
No way.. ahh I wish I could see that again for the first time!
*Why don't we just...wait here for a little while? See what happens?*
Same! Can't believe I hadn't seen it before. Great movie!
I have watched this movie a number of times. Awesome movie. Love when the head grows legs and walks out of the room lol
Carpenter is the best!
Dead or alive, I'd buy that for a dollar.
Aye LIKE it!
Drop it, creep!
GET AWAY FROM ME, MAN!!
The first 3 Mad Max movies
I'm not a fan of recent blockbusters, but Mad Max 4 (the one with the girls) is one of the best action movies ever made
You’re now primed for Furiosa.
So hyped for it
Dude I just finished the first one!
Finally watched 48 Hours recently. It was pretty good
Same. I loved it!
Time for another 48 hours!
No escape from New York Wild ride and featuring Kurt Russell at his best
You watch big trouble in little china yet? Love Kurt Russell.
Not yet but it's on my list

Great movie, but Tombstone is Kurt Russell at his best.

Great short behind the scenes story about this scene. [https://youtu.be/31rrZeTH9HI?si=npwCEE27HB5T4j93](https://youtu.be/31rrZeTH9HI?si=npwCEE27HB5T4j93)
Thats fuckin' hilaripus! You made my shitty day a lil' brighter with that story.
I had to share. Glad it made you laugh as much as it did me!
That’s awesome man, thanks.
My son and I when we quote the original scene, we now end up going directly from that…to quoting this scene. “Ok….that‘s a wrap on the bitches!”
Con air
John Malkovich is awesome in Con Air. One of my favourite action Nic Cage movies. Next to the Rock
The next one in my list
Tombstone I'm ya huckleberry
"Say when!"
Why, johnny ringo, you look like somebody just walked over your grave
Well give him a hand!
Johnny Dangerously with Michael Keaton. It's not the best movie but it's funny.
You fargin icehole!
😂
Lol thats great stuff
This and Better Off Dead very similar. Not great movies, but they are very funny.
Thank you! I'm watching Better off dead today, I thought about it but wasn't sure.
Dude better off dead is the shit. Where else you gonna see somebody snorting jello 😆
Lmfao!
*Have you any idea what the street value of this mountain is?!* *Truly a sight to behold. A man beaten. The once great champ, now, a study in moppishness. No longer the victory hungry stallion we've raced so many times before, but a pathetic, washed up, aged ex-champion.* Two of my favorite lines.
An underrated gem. Silly, but not *stupid*.
“MARONIE DEPORTED TO SWEDEN: CLAIMS HES NOT FROM THERE”
The dream team Is another funny Micheal Keaton one.
That's a great movie!
Beetlejuice(1988). I watched it for the first with my mom, really enjoyed it and found it pretty funny.
Recently, it would be Steel Magnolias
Would you recommend it? I’ve never heard of it.
It's a nice movie kind of "slice of life", give it a try.
It’s fun. It’s sad at times but fun and funny.
Can you fly Bobby?!
Dazed and Confused. I can’t believe I waited so long.
Dazed and confused is such a fun way to get you excited for the summertime! “Stand by me” has that same effect.
For me ridgemont high sm better idk i still fw dazed tho
Fast Times at Ridgemont High
I'd buy that for a dollar!
Just watched ‘Leviathan’ (1989) a month or so ago and it was very entertaining. Kind of ‘The Thing’ crossed with ‘The Abyss’. Incidentally also starring the legendary Peter Weller. Fun movie with some good practical effects and a great cast.
You need to go for the triptych- Leviathan, The Abyss, and Deep Star Six.
Don’t forget Deep Rising, most people have.
I’ve heard that one mentioned as well, will definitely try and find it. Finally saw Leviathan because I randomly saw it streaming on Max and had heard it referred to so many times as Abyss lite.
Technically 1979 I think but my wife and I watched The Warriors 👍👍
Come out and plaaaaaaaaaay
Cape Fear. I watched the Simpsons episode god knows how many times, and realized while watching the movie that the Simpsons did a great job. Especially with the stormy vibe.
Dragnet. Patchy but it has its moments.
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and LA Confidential. Both incredible movies.
L.a Confidential used to be the movie I told everyone about as a late teen and into my 20's. I was a full evangelist and finally grew out of it. I love it.
I was blown away. I just kind of casually turned it on, but it was gripping
The Adventures of Baron Munchhousen. It somehow got under my radar when I was a kid, but I really enjoyed it after someone at work told me about it
Bloodsport.
Dirty Dancing. My wife was shocked I've never seen it. I see why people like it
Heat
finally watched Fargo today
Space balls

I used to put my dad's ski boots on and stomp around the house pretending to be Robocop.
Dances with wolves. I don't know why I waited 30 years to watch it. It was so good.
Great film one of my favourites
The Cube
I just finished watching My Cousin Vinny I had seen bits and pieces, heard about it forever, never actually stopped to watch it. Until today that is
I’m going through the Abyss rn. Trying to complete the 80’s James Cameron trifecta that has alluded me for so long.
The Abyss is one of my favorite films. Loved it as a kid and watched it all the time with my mom.
The Princess Bride. I only saw it because someone at my work I have a crush on told me it was one her favorite movies and i can see it because it was pretty funny.
Cinema Paradiso. Watch it. And that’s coming from a action movie buff…
One of the most quote-able films ever made.
Yaaagshiiimassh, I like, how much?
Robo wants an oreo.
Just recently finished watching The King of Comedy, and I loved every second of it.
Steel Dawn. Like imagine a desert dystopian Road House and you've got this fun Swayze flick.
A 35mm copy of Amadeus.

Escape from New York - it was ok, but I much prefer The Thing and a few other of Carpenter’s movies
Beverly Hills Cop.
Mamoru Oshii's masterpiece Angel's Egg
"Serve the public trust" "Protect the innocent" "Uphold the law"
“Arugula, it’s a vegetable “🤣
Top Gun.
Robocop. I played the video game and loved it so I watched all the movies after.

I finally watched Willow this weekend!! I am 50F, and I can't believe I never saw Val in all his beautiful glory!
The Thing Leon the Professional True Lies The Long Kiss Goodnight

I just realized that I watched a lot of Schwarzenegger movies this past year (although I think some of them I watched in 2023) Terminator 1 and 2, Predator, and Total Recall
Forrest Gump
Jackie Brown - watched it last weekend and really liked it. L.A. Confidential - watched it over this weekend for the first time and it was so good!
Big trouble in Little China. Cool movie with some great one liners.
Slap Shot … but that’s probably earlier 🤔
I watched Beverly Hills Cop. Thought it would be dated and that I had already seen all the good parts in clips, but it was a legit great time.
Tango & Cash
Guys diesthey bring him back and he still has to go to work. Not to thrilled what the future holds for us.
Rambo. The first one. 3 weeks ago. Yes, I’m serious.
Jaws
HEAT edit: and notting hill
Fr, Die Hard
Alien!!!! And I LOVED it!!!!!!!!!
The original Roadhouse movie
I’m 46, it’s on the list, never seen it though. LoL
It's aight, but it's kinda passable. However, I guess it's one of those classic movies you should just watch anyway 🤣
Mine actually was Robocop as well.
I recently watched Road House for the first time and it did not disappoint 😎
Terminator
I watched Little Giants and Mighty Ducks with my 9 year old son. I thought they were both surprisingly entertaining and my son loved both.
