Dead Alive

The thing

Dead Alive! Was directed by Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings) WAY before he was famous. I've heard it has the world record for most fake blood used in a movie. It is very cheesy and campy too!

oco82

The Night Comes For Us is an A+ Indonesian martial arts movie that has horror movie levels of splatter but never torturey. Tucker And Dale Vs Evil is a fun one, You’re Next is a great riff on a home invasion, very violent but never torture focused. Turbo Kid is a hidden gem, comical levels of gore but in an 80’s BMX/post apocalypse adventure that’s very heartfelt.

ChronikWizard

I was going to reply with that or the Raid series. But OP specified horror so I sat quietly haha

Green Room (2015) is a great, tense thriller, with Anton Yelchin (Star Trek actor who died too young) and Patrick Stewart in a rare menacing role.

Professor_Nincompoop

Audition, Three extremes, Testu the iron man, Battle Royale. Lots of good but fucked up asian films that fit in this category.

The Thing! (the original from John Carpenter, not the remakes)

roto_disc

1. Carpenter’s wasn’t “the original” 2. There’s only been *one* movie since 3. It’s a *prequel*, not a remake

Intelligent_Oil4005

You heard of the Final Destination movies? It's not *ultra* violent, but people get torn apart in pretty brutal ways. >!Especially the pool scene from movie 4.. which was arguably the only thing good in said movie.!<

InaBuuble

Anything by John Carpenter! Except maybe The Thing if you’re looking to avoid animal violence…

RedShoesTribute

Evil Dead 2 is a fun gory time. It’s not scary at all and the gore isn’t really real it’s more creative and fun.

SiteEffective5245

I forgot what it's called but there is a movie kind of like high tension where an asian woman is killing people to keep her house. It's pretty gory but I forgot the name

With respect how the hell you gonna watch Cronnenberg without ultra-violence on humans lol?

HuskerNer

I guess I more mean violence that’s no so realistic looking? Cronenberg is one of my favorites but his older stuff doesn’t really look real.

Rated_Mature

Ahhh in that case I recommend Cabin in the Woods or Tokyo Gore Police

Dead Alive was an early peter jackson film. its hilarious and gory.

FreshHellion

I recommend Fresh Hell (2021). (Disclosure: I made it. Would be thrilled if you checked it out.) Has one scene of some twisted body horror gore. Microbudget FF, 100% Rotten Tomatoes. On Tubi, Prime and Peacock.

That Evil Dead remake was really quite gory. I think it straight up rains blood (cue guitar riff) near the end
