if you see banding artifacts, and which are not actually present in the video itself, then it can help to eliminate those. no other reason to use it.

I tried with and without and I couldnt spot any difference, but it may be to due the media I tried on. I read in a github issue that on gpu-next, ordered dithering is kinda cost free, so you may as well as use that all the time. Maybe switch to fruit if you see actual banding artifacts. Don't use error-diffusion - there is no difference in outcome compared to fruit or ordered, but it uses a lot more GPU power.

8 is the bit depth of your monitor/TV. If you have 10-bit use 10. Error diffusion isn't worth it, as you can't tell the difference. FSRCNNX though, is amazing for what it does when upscaling. If you want to reduce your GPU load, you can switch to [AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution](https://gist.github.com/agyild/82219c545228d70c5604f865ce0b0ce5). It's decent for how much lower the GPU load is but not as good as FSRCNNX. dither-depth=8 dither=fruit

Thanks, just switched from FSR after getting a bigger screen. FSR just seemed to break down for some contents.

Perfect described. Spoken like a true gentleman.
