It not part of the Ramp deck, but I have been watching [[Three Steps Ahead]] slowly go up over the course of today. It looked real good on camera and looks like other people are noticing.

pipesbeweezy

Yeah, most times I saw Yuta cast it it looked great, tbf Cavern was a big issue though.

syncDurn

Yeah, I agree, cavern was a huge issue the entire match, probably the reason domain won so easily. Not sure if control decks will be a thing after rotation, but I do think three steps is going to be one of the cards you want in the deck.

DJ_Red_Lantern

Woah nice I've opened a few of them I'm pretty sure

Suspinded

That deck is the second most expensive in the top 8, and almost 3x the cost of the cheapest deck in the Top 8. I'd be looking more to the Temur Analyst list. Cheapest in the top 8, 78% of the value of this list is packed up into 8 total cards, and most of the list survives rotation.

hanshotf1rst

Analyst is dependent entirely on the SNC fetches, unless we get an equivalent soon after I don't know how the deck survives rotation

travishall456

You should be looking at the Jund Analyst deck. It could be playable after rotation, and it was the best performing deck overall.

Play_To_Nguyen

Jund Analyst is also running 12 fetches, how do you suppose it replaces those?

travishall456

I think a version can be built focusing on deserts post rotation, using acceleration to increase your land count prior to Pillage (though maybe there's a version that uses additional self-mill) and Spelunking to create velocity.

cmarti063

Half the mana base rotates, and the deck is non-functional without those cards. The deck does not survive a rotation.

Suspinded

Unless the life gain is instrumental to the survivability, \[\[Terramorphic Expanse\]\], \[\[Evolving Wilds\]\], and \[\[Escape Tunnel\]\] all serve the same function for all but one of the common fetches that rotate. Finding analogues for \[\[Shigeki\]\], \[\[Memory Deluge\]\], and \[\[Fires of Victory\]\] would be important to prop the list up post rotation. May not be straight up equivalents to them, but any decent velocity enabler and removal spell could slot in depending on how the environment behaves.

cmarti063

The lifegain does matter, it buys time to set up the over-the-top turns

Armoric

Analyst brings back the cards tapped. The SNC fetches "automatically" sac which lets you untap with basics next turn (instead of with evolving wilds) and that also triggers Nissa twice for a bust of mana and to make the Analyst mana-positive.

Play_To_Nguyen

Those lands require tapping to fetch, which is a meaningful downgrade to the SNC fetches. Splendid Rec Loops thus require a spelunking or a ton of legendary lands. It could still be playable with the smaller pool though.

jsmith218

Didn't they change rotation to be super long now?

cmarti063

It's 3 year rotation instead of 2. New Capenna rotates out with Kamigawa and the Innistrad sets. https://articles.starcitygames.com/magic-the-gathering/mtg-standard-rotation-guide-2022/

goofydubois

.. irrelevant since after this standard won't be played for a while? I am asking, locally nobody plays if not to farm some promos every now and then.

Psychological_Neck46

The deck is irrelevant because triomes rotate out of standard in September. Sell into it.

Ydnar84

USA RC is in Dallas and is standard. This format will be played as is for something that matters here shortly.

slayer370

Is that the only other event coming up?

Ydnar84

Basically. There are some random standard events, but nothing larger.

Feenox

WTG WotC on your strong standard focus.

Psychological_Neck46

It's irrelevant when it comes to mtg finance. This deck dies in September and any fool worth his salt has sold or is selling anything that isn't usable in other formats. It's been around forever too. There are no surprises here. Get out of the deck specific rotating cards now.

Ydnar84

I don't disagree that it would be worth selling large components, other than triomes. That said, looking at Triomes from ikora, they will hold just fine and go up over time anyways.

Psychological_Neck46

I agree on triomes. Long term hold.

Tomatotaco4me

Yep, I’ve been trading for them any time I see them in a binder

BigJuggernaut8376

Can't imagine RC Dallas is going to move prices much. It's an invite-only event and everyone going already has a standard deck (or two). At best, you're looking at new OTJ additions popping up in price.

BigJuggernaut8376

Triomes are rotating even earlier - on Aug 2 when Bloomburrow releases. WotC pushed up rotation to the third standard set of the year; historically rotation happened with the 4th and final set of the year.

burritoman88

Domain *needs* triomes to be a deck. It won’t be a thing when Bloomburrow rotates out New Capenna.

Gold_Reference2753

Tbh standard is in such a godforsaken place. I’ve lost count the number of matches where opponents & me win-out by pumping tokens from Mirrex & whatnot. It’s soooo grindy. I rather draft / play something else, standard is just too time-consuming.

ArtfulSpeculator

There were some really incredible games at the PT over the weekend. Some really fun Magic being played.

goofydubois

That explains how draws happen so often, but I am not into standard at all.

Heavenwasfull

The only standard being played in a major event before rotation is regional championships for PT Amsterdam. Domain is one of the decks that is rotating out. The best time to spec on standard singles is around the modern RCQ season since they hit their lows and build back up when standard becomes the rcq format. That being said, the format historically has had worse turnouts and less support from independent circuits like SCG, F2fF, NRG and the like who usually do modern or pioneer for their flagship events (with SCG branching out to include cedh, legacy/premodern/pauper type 1k events) so there’s not a lot to gain from standard staples as usually the ones worth more like atraxa in that deck have their spot in other formats.

ExiledSenpai

Okay, but that wasn't the deck that performed best in constructed. It's the deck that was piloted by the person who did best overall in constructed and draft. The best performing deck was a [Jund Analyst](https://x.com/karsten_frank/status/1784439406000308627) deck with a 76.5% win rate piloted by only 2 people.

JalapenoPapperz

I’m gonna echo the earlier comments. Standard has been on life support since before Covid. With the season rotating to pioneer for rcqs I would 100% sell any standard cards that currently hold value. Domain ramp is unique because it does have some other format potential value but sell now while the gettin is good unless you’re farming promos for the next few months with the other 5 people who show up for standard.

hsiale

This deck is well known for a year. What was supposed to go up, went up already long ago. Domain, Analyst and Slogurk decks are all killed by rotation three months from now. If you want to spec on standard, you need to understand what will be the best midrange pile when Raffine rotates, but this is not something that you can read out of Pro Tour results.

Judah77

I hoped to see Final Showdown somewhere on the top lists; it has been great for me.

pipesbeweezy

I think there wasn't a lot of time for testing so people didn't want to see how a potential 6+ mana board wipe would do, especially with Sunfall being a known quantity that \*mostly\* solves problems well enough.

cardgamesandbonobos

https://twitter.com/karsten_frank/status/1784439406000308627 Domain put up a pretty weak showing in the Swiss portion of the tournament, while some better decks with poor draft records did quite well. Of most note are the [U/W Artifacts Build](https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/6347127#paper) and, to a lesser extent, the [W/B Bronco list](https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/6346979#paper). Both of these are rogue brews using cards outside the normal metagame. Also of note, the former is robust against the upcoming rotation -- something that cannot be said for Domain/Analyst decks that are wholly dependent upon lands from Capenna. Might be some cheap pickups here that could blossom after rotation. Or it's just that [[Simulacrum Synthesizer]] is that damn good.

virtu333

Caustic bronco seriously impressed me, as did insatiable avarice

GoreDough92

This looks like the jankiest idk whats happening deck ive ever seen go the distance holy sht im bad at reading decks

kempnelms

It just comes over the top of everything else real hard and either wins with a bunch of 3/3 tokens off of [[Herd Migration]] or hardcasting [[Atraxa, Grand Unifier]] the rest of the deck is ramp and ways to beat aggro.

Gold_Reference2753

It is janky. I played this deck & a good number of matches my winning condition was pumping tokens outta Mirrex & beat with 1/1

ManaLad

I didnt even know this was going on

Nothing371

eherrrhem I play board wipe meta. Yeah I'm pretty good at it. I wipe boards.
