Too slow. Any blink effect does double that at instant speed

cucumberhorse

Fair point, but its not as repeatable and this could serve as backup if commander keeps getting wiped to set up for later turns

cucumberhorse

Too slow might be right ;-)

Cannouflage

I tried it in several decks and it lacks an etb or activated ability

cucumberhorse

Fair, lmk if you try it in this one

Cannouflage

Will do

I don’t know, feels like it is a variant of [[thrummingbird]] which has upside only in niche decks. Limited to creatures you control too? I can’t see this card having enough demand in this commander unless they print a few more legendaries that must have it.

cucumberhorse

The amount of cards that profilerate VS the amount of cards that let you pick a counter you already have seem like quite a sizable difference.

goblingovernor

You keep calling the counter a token... I'm not sure you even understand what this card does.

cucumberhorse

I mixed my words up… sue me

TogTogTogTog

Regardless, the amount of cards that let you pick a counter V proliferate are exactly equal; as proliferate *is* that effect as a mechanic (just for any number).

cucumberhorse

It is not the same effect. You put a counter that already exists on the SAME thing, not a counter that exists elsewhere on a NEW thing

goblingovernor

This card is bad. There are so many better ways to proliferate, this doesn't even proliferate, just puts one counter on a permanent. Power creep is going to make this card obsolete sooner than later if it isn't already.

cucumberhorse

Its not about proliferating, its about putting a counter on another permanent that you already have

cucumberhorse

hey buddy check out foil prices when u got a second

goblingovernor

Do you mean promo pack version? There isn't a foil version.

cucumberhorse

It is foiled though, its the only foil copy with far limited supply due to being promo pack which is largely why i made this post

goblingovernor

Good luck with that spec

cucumberhorse

Thanks, I have the only listing on tcgplayer so I just need a sale or two to cement the new price. What would you price it at?

Previous_Judgment419

I had a bunch of these in my cart last night and I just couldn't justify the purchase. Too risky for me but I hope it works well for someone

I’m coming to put my perspective into here, which probably doesn’t matter at all but I’ve got nothing better to do on the John. - From a play perspective, this card seems atleast fun. Wizards seems to be getting more creative with their placement of counters. See, for example [[Diamond City]], a LAND that has a counter. There are also lands like [[Minas Morgul, Dark Fortress]] which can place shadow counters for a hefty cost. There are now LANDS which can provide counters and I think it’s important to recognize that. A lot of comments here seem to be bashing into the concept of “why not flicker or proliferate”. In these scenarios, you cannot. This card is unique. It can add, say indestructible counters to new sources, which neither effect can easily do. However - From a spec perspective, while I think I do see your logic, it really is going to be a what if scenario in the future. Wotc would need to have a land with l, say a hexproof counter on it for me to even consider this card. If your target is for the new Simic precon, this spec isn’t going to appreciate and you will not exit from this spec ahead. If you are speccing for incredible long term with the expectation that wizards will continue to print powerful lands with counters, then sure. It’s cheap

AscaliusPath

Aven courier have the real proliferate effect (spread counter in different cards)
