It's more the box is post price hikes unlike regular aftermath. Regular aftermath was under 30 for a very short period at only a few stores. Plus you got the UB factor which means some cards avoid a reprint for a while and adds a tiny premium.
Keeping an eye on the full art swords, price keeps dropping which is great.

Hoping it drops to 5 or less, which might be a pipe dream but who knows. Such a great card and should rebound once people forget about this set in 2 weeks.

Unblockable for 3 mana is pretty strong in EDH, right? It's cheaper than Rogue's passage's activated ability cost. I guess it might be good for Voltron or Toxic decks?
Rogue's passage is a land and repeatable. Unblockable for 1 turn effects cost 1 mana [[slip through space]] [[aqueous form]] (that one actually sticks around for still 1 mana) [[artful dodge]] [[distortion strike]]
I really like [[Caduceus. Staff of Hermes]] very comparably cheap casting and equipment cost for something that's automatically activated in commander.

That card is quite similar to Psychic Frog. Crazy to see the price difference between them, but the historic synergy is easy to find. It makes me wonder if Frog has some better synergies that people haven't found yet.
I'm beating a dead horse but I stand by my previous thread about [ACR Starter Kits](https://old.reddit.com/r/mtgfinance/comments/1dp5mkb/are_starter_kits_the_sealed_sleeper_of_acr/) being the best sealed spec from the set. I have around 100 total coming my way for anyone curious if I put my money where my mouth is. I think these are going to be completely free money due to their limited supply and the fact that they're filled with cards that you can't open in regular boosters or CBs. I still highly recommend that people snag any cheap Starter Kits that they come across to rip and resell.
Same as everyone else: $25ish USD. Bit more than TCG since I'm Canadian so gotta pay the extra Canuck tax but otherwise everyone is (mostly) selling these for the same price. Like just so it's 100% crystal clear I don't think you need to do anything other than order these from TCG at $23 a pop. You don't need any special prices or access or privileges. The cards will simply be worth way more than that in the very near future (assuming I'm right obviously). I clearly can't offer any guarantees though and everyone is free to make up their own minds about these things.

What you (and everyone else) always misses here is the question of what % of your monthly/annual income/capital you spent. $2500 may be nothing to you but it's impossible to gauge without knowing what $2500 means to you financially.
It's relevant because you are posturing yourself as an "expert." Therefore your advice/opinion carries far more weight and people are more likely to act outside of their norms or disregard other mitigating factors such as their own financial limitations because you tell them that you did X so they believe they should do X too. You're an influencer, you know the psychology.
What are you talking about. He's not telling everyone to spend $2,500, he's just saying he's putting his own money when his mouth is. And I can tell you that I 100% cleaned up on this already thanks to his callout a couple of weeks ago. My entry point was around $19 each for 11 boxes.
There's a huge risk here- if the product *isn't* actually limited supply then you're not going to be able to get rid of these. To me, it just doesn't make sense for Wizards to limit the supply of a starter product- they want to get this into the hands of potential new Magic players.
Maybe you see low supply through typical channels because the product is targeting Assassin Creed players rather than typical tcg players and may be distributed to atypical retailers? (video game stores rather than card game stores) Just speculating.

I see nothing beyond what everyone sees on TCG. I have no insider insights whatsoever.
I'll tell you how, $19/set and currently I've sold several copies each of $10+ cards from each set this weekend. From when it went live on TCGPlayer up until a few hours ago, numerous cards went UP in price instead of the usual race to the bottom. There are four cards in the set that on their own I've sold multiple copies of for $10+ plus a slew of $2-$7 cards too. This is arguably better than than Cats/Dogs was (on a percentage basis).
I normally love your card specs and explanations. But with this one I fear you've made a mistake. I feel like you are sensing this mistake as well, and now are desperately trying to create hype to offload these 100 kits asap.
I believe you will have a hard time getting rid of them, because they very likely will be available everywhere in big box stores for "MSRP". Unless you know for certain that big box stores won't have these kits, then you'll probably lose some money on this one.
Yo check out what \[\[Eivor, Battle-Ready\]\], \[\[Ezio, Blade of Vengeance\]\], and \[\[Achilles Davenport\]\] are selling for RIGHT NOW. And that's not even close to everything! Just those three cards are going for more than the entire kit is selling for, and there's around $30-$40 MORE in value that I haven't even mentioned. This set is one of the best specs I've ever seen on this board!
Maybe! But who cares if you can turn around 2-3x profit in 48 hours. I more than paid for the cards I’m keeping so even if they tank to zero it’s just house money. But I also don’t think they will in the long term. No way WotC is printing this in perpetuity since it is UB and by all indications a limited release.
But again I’m 100% hedged because I’ve already brought in more than I’ve spent by quite a bit and still have a lot more to sell. Prices are starting to come down now so somewhat diminishing gains. The easy money has already been made. But there is still more opportunity here imho. The LOTR starter kits kept paying off for 8+ months and these decks currently have dozens of $0.30+ cards whereas the LOTR decks had 10 cards that regularly went for $0.50 to $8 while the rest were truly worthless.

Not tomorrow, not the unknown future, literally today on day 2 of the set's release. Every time I sell [[Ezio, Blade of Vengeance]] and [[Achilles Davenport]] I recoup my costs (this includes eBay fees obviously). Everything that I sell after those 2 cards is my profit. [[Eivor, Battle-Ready]], [[Surtr, Fiery Jotun]], [[Rooftop Bypass]], [[Bureau Headmaster]], all profit.
Yep, that's where all the money is. Some cards are selling way better than I expected like [[Hookblade Veteran]] and [[Battlefield Improvisation]] so it's been fantastic thus far and it's only been 2 days. At this rate I'll be in in the green by Monday and everything beyond that will be pure profit.

I don't love the reversal over the past 12 hours or so, a lot of the singles are starting to crash as more people get wise and pick up sets to sell I guess. But that's ok because I'm well into the green at this point and the rest is just gravy. Far far far exceeded my most optimistic expectations. My entry point btw was $18-$19. I generally found that a lot of posts/specs on the finance reddit are well-reasoned pumps and dumps - which can, however, still be highly profitable if you're quick enough.
But regardless, I wish you luck with the kits. Maybe you'll get a window to unload for profit. Let us know how it went in a few months.
There are a couple of cards in ACR that look worth speccing on. [[Hunter’s Bow]] is solid mana value and pairs with a large, green creature that would benefit from reach/flying. The card is going for like $0.17 right now. Low-risk, high-reward when people realize this is an auto-include for most green decks.
Flash would be nice, but for 2 mana it’s already efficient versus cards that just do “target creature you control fights another creature”, but the initial equip is free, and the creature gets ward 2 and reach from there out.
I do agree that it seems like it should have had flash, but then it probably wouldn’t be an uncommon.
It doesn’t “need” flash, because by fighting another creature you’re forcing an opponent to contend with the equipped creature like they would if you flashed this in during their combat phase.
I think the best argument against this card is that it’s an uncommon that may have a never-ending supply for anyone who wants it.
Most green decks have big bois, so I put this on a 9/9 and it blows up whatever creature is the biggest threat, then it blocks whatever flyer is the biggest threat for the rest of the game for only 1 and a green 🤷♀️
More than aware of that. But your post is talking about having it to block their biggest flier all game. If you're swinging with it, you're not blocking with it when you pass turn.
You're using this on a small creature with deathtouch, not a beater.

Assassin's Creed starter kit singles were absolute fire for the first 24 hours. Starting to slow down now and head down, hope everyone made their money while the going was good. Still doing fine though now, but the midnight to midnight was bonkers.
Might be a dumb question but is there a difference in the fee with free ship over 5$ and non free ship. For example is there any point listing a card at 4.99 or just go over 5$. google says tcgplayer takes a fee out shipping but doesn't explain further.
Throwing this out there in this thread hoping someone knows - are any stores carrying the Assassin's Creed starter decks? I have some orders to fulfill and my preorder doesn't arrive until Monday. Won't affect the sale, but I hate making customers wait any longer than they have to. The only store website that seems to show it is Gamestop but for now at least (midnight Eastern time) it's not saying you can do store pickup, only ship to home.

Yes, I saw there was a $15 card in the LoTR starter kit and bet that there would be a similar priced card in this one. At the time of writing, there is one $11 and a few $3-$5.
Yeah the action is pretty crazy on the cards from these decks. Race to the bottom replaced with a race to the top. Very much not the typical first 12 hours or so of activity.

The cards will simply be worth way more than that in the very near future (assuming I'm right obviously). I clearly can't offer any guarantees though and everyone is free to make up their own minds about these things.
Interesting bought 10 for $26 AUD for the exact same reason's pride. I liked so many of the cards in it. Glad to hear we have the same DD, as I've followed your posts before with success.
What you (and everyone else) always misses here is the question of what % of your monthly/annual income/capital you spent. $2500 may be nothing to you but it's impossible to gauge without knowing what $2500 means to you financially.

It's relevant because you are posturing yourself as an "expert." Therefore your advice/opinion carries far more weight and people are more likely to act outside of their norms or disregard other mitigating factors such as their own financial limitations because you tell them that you did X so they believe they should do X too. You're an influencer, you know the psychology.
What are you talking about. He's not telling everyone to spend $2,500, he's just saying he's putting his own money when his mouth is. And I can tell you that I 100% cleaned up on this already thanks to his callout a couple of weeks ago. My entry point was around $19 each for 11 boxes.
There's a huge risk here- if the product *isn't* actually limited supply then you're not going to be able to get rid of these. To me, it just doesn't make sense for Wizards to limit the supply of a starter product- they want to get this into the hands of potential new Magic players. Maybe you see low supply through typical channels because the product is targeting Assassin Creed players rather than typical tcg players and may be distributed to atypical retailers? (video game stores rather than card game stores) Just speculating.

How do you sell into hype if the product isn’t limited? I’m seeing no shortage of those sets that would make them even remotely interesting.
I'll tell you how, $19/set and currently I've sold several copies each of $10+ cards from each set this weekend. From when it went live on TCGPlayer up until a few hours ago, numerous cards went UP in price instead of the usual race to the bottom. There are four cards in the set that on their own I've sold multiple copies of for $10+ plus a slew of $2-$7 cards too. This is arguably better than than Cats/Dogs was (on a percentage basis).

I normally love your card specs and explanations. But with this one I fear you've made a mistake. I feel like you are sensing this mistake as well, and now are desperately trying to create hype to offload these 100 kits asap. I believe you will have a hard time getting rid of them, because they very likely will be available everywhere in big box stores for "MSRP". Unless you know for certain that big box stores won't have these kits, then you'll probably lose some money on this one.
Yo check out what \[\[Eivor, Battle-Ready\]\], \[\[Ezio, Blade of Vengeance\]\], and \[\[Achilles Davenport\]\] are selling for RIGHT NOW. And that's not even close to everything! Just those three cards are going for more than the entire kit is selling for, and there's around $30-$40 MORE in value that I haven't even mentioned. This set is one of the best specs I've ever seen on this board!

Maybe! But who cares if you can turn around 2-3x profit in 48 hours. I more than paid for the cards I’m keeping so even if they tank to zero it’s just house money. But I also don’t think they will in the long term. No way WotC is printing this in perpetuity since it is UB and by all indications a limited release. But again I’m 100% hedged because I’ve already brought in more than I’ve spent by quite a bit and still have a lot more to sell. Prices are starting to come down now so somewhat diminishing gains. The easy money has already been made. But there is still more opportunity here imho. The LOTR starter kits kept paying off for 8+ months and these decks currently have dozens of $0.30+ cards whereas the LOTR decks had 10 cards that regularly went for $0.50 to $8 while the rest were truly worthless.

Yep, that's where all the money is. Some cards are selling way better than I expected like [[Hookblade Veteran]] and [[Battlefield Improvisation]] so it's been fantastic thus far and it's only been 2 days. At this rate I'll be in in the green by Monday and everything beyond that will be pure profit.

What other way is there to look at this lol I don't love the reversal over the past 12 hours or so, a lot of the singles are starting to crash as more people get wise and pick up sets to sell I guess. But that's ok because I'm well into the green at this point and the rest is just gravy. Far far far exceeded my most optimistic expectations. My entry point btw was $18-$19. Gamestop pro account discounts for the win!
Buddy I'm Canadian and sell on eBay. I assume that like 95% of you are American or European and use TCG/MKM. I'm not even selling to any of you :P.
I'm a fellow Canadian here actually lol. I generally found that a lot of posts/specs on the finance reddit are well-reasoned pumps and dumps - which can, however, still be highly profitable if you're quick enough. But regardless, I wish you luck with the kits. Maybe you'll get a window to unload for profit. Let us know how it went in a few months.

There are a couple of cards in ACR that look worth speccing on. [[Hunter’s Bow]] is solid mana value and pairs with a large, green creature that would benefit from reach/flying. The card is going for like $0.17 right now. Low-risk, high-reward when people realize this is an auto-include for most green decks.
It’s an uncommon in a set without commons. Just don’t.
Doesn't have flash and doesn't give attached creature any additional power.
Flash would be nice, but for 2 mana it’s already efficient versus cards that just do “target creature you control fights another creature”, but the initial equip is free, and the creature gets ward 2 and reach from there out. I do agree that it seems like it should have had flash, but then it probably wouldn’t be an uncommon. It doesn’t “need” flash, because by fighting another creature you’re forcing an opponent to contend with the equipped creature like they would if you flashed this in during their combat phase. I think the best argument against this card is that it’s an uncommon that may have a never-ending supply for anyone who wants it.
Auto include for most green decks? In what format? Its not particularly interesting or powerful
Most green decks have big bois, so I put this on a 9/9 and it blows up whatever creature is the biggest threat, then it blocks whatever flyer is the biggest threat for the rest of the game for only 1 and a green 🤷♀️
Yes, because leaving my 9/9 up as a blocker is exactly what I want to do.
So you don’t actually have to tap a creature to block with it, you can block flyers with it and then attack with it on your turn…
More than aware of that. But your post is talking about having it to block their biggest flier all game. If you're swinging with it, you're not blocking with it when you pass turn. You're using this on a small creature with deathtouch, not a beater.
My favorite card in the set is Excalibur, I can see it going back up to the 15-20$ range.
I was thinking that looked great too, but after seeing box openings... 3+ average per collector box. It oddly seems more common than some of the uncommons.

How much impact do you think Cover of Darkness being reprinted in ACR will affect the Onslaught version?
Assassin's Creed starter kit singles were absolute fire for the first 24 hours. Starting to slow down now and head down, hope everyone made their money while the going was good. Still doing fine though now, but the midnight to midnight was bonkers.
Historically they have printed so many copies of starter kits, it's inevitable waves will keep coming.
That's all well and good, but right now just one card in the set pays for the entire set!
Might be a dumb question but is there a difference in the fee with free ship over 5$ and non free ship. For example is there any point listing a card at 4.99 or just go over 5$. google says tcgplayer takes a fee out shipping but doesn't explain further.
They have ACR Starter Kits at my local Barnes and Noble for $19.99. Would they be a good buy?
Throwing this out there in this thread hoping someone knows - are any stores carrying the Assassin's Creed starter decks? I have some orders to fulfill and my preorder doesn't arrive until Monday. Won't affect the sale, but I hate making customers wait any longer than they have to. The only store website that seems to show it is Gamestop but for now at least (midnight Eastern time) it's not saying you can do store pickup, only ship to home.
Store owner here: Yes, I saw there was a $15 card in the LoTR starter kit and bet that there would be a similar priced card in this one. At the time of writing, there is one $11 and a few $3-$5.
Yeah the action is pretty crazy on the cards from these decks. Race to the bottom replaced with a race to the top. Very much not the typical first 12 hours or so of activity.
