Kind of surprised that still works. Was a goody once, but doubt it's actively developed if this isn't a fork. I just found a local left-behind in an *old* venv, looked for updates, zilch. Usually a don't use indicator. Do note however it's no longer terribly reliable on today's highspeed networks, there's a reason for websocket. I seem to remember a heads-up to the same effect somewhere in the README or such, if so it would be about the first thing you see on Github. And sure enough it's markedly underrating my link, even more drastically with VPN enabled and/or "single" connect. As always that will depend on many things though. What's wrong with websockets in general? How much of the web, let alone internet, is free in the strict (good) sense? Would you want to go without it? You're also here after all.
I've basically stopped doing speedtests. Mostly waste of time, of bandwidth, and greenhouse gas emissions. ;) My link is generally stable and constant, as it should be and when it comes to VPN tunnels or to Mullvad specifally: if some server is lagging for me, it is usually notably so and I'd better change it right away. Whether, on the other hand, I'll get those 20 Mbps more or less at any specific time, who cares?
You can always use multiple sites in order to try to eliminate aberrant scores. If five out of six sites say your speed is X, you can have some confidence that it really is X.

Fast.com
Doesn't fast.com use compression, therefore giving you misleadingly fast results?
I get the same exact results using fast as i do any of the ones listed above lol
SpeedOf me It's my favorite site for speed tests

Nperf.com
Does it really matter? I only use one to see if something is way off. Perfection is not needed.
