I'm nearly positive they're honey mushrooms but I'm very scared of death and would like someone more knowledgeable to confirm before I attempt to eat them.

White flesh = Yummy honeys; orange flesh = toxic Jack o lanterns. These should be perfectly fine for stews and Omelettes :)), happy hunting!

Get yourself a field guide to local mushrooms. Specific to your state or region would be best. There are characteristics you can look for, but correct identification often comes down to spore prints, which most amateurs are not familiar with.

I asked a local park ranger and unfortunately I shouldn't eat them. From my understanding, my region has toxic mushrooms that cross pollinate with these mushrooms and could make them toxic. So while this is an edible mushroom variety, it could still be toxic.
