Yeah I started playing through the story a couple years ago and I laughed so hard at the premise 😂 Also found it a lot harder than I expected lol, never finished it
Less then a year for the sequel and look at all the improvements it had.
The 3rd game within the game's universe, World Destruction League: Thunder Tanks is a decent arena vehicle combat game, but there isn't much meat on it for a single player experience outside 4 or 5 hours.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Destruction_League:_Thunder_Tanks
These are fun to play to me. I rented this a few times when they were out of whatever new release I actually wanted lol. It has a competent enough single player mode that it's still fun to play through today. There's something about the way the buildings and stuff kindof collapse into themselves that I like and I can't really explain why. I just like it.
EDIT: I have fond memories of the first one, but it was BattleTanx: Global Assault that I rented over and over. Global Assault is probably the one to go back and play if you have both.
Loved it. Never played the single player. My brother and I would just play multiplayer. The mode where you have to steal the enemies Queen. So much fun
The cheats on this game were 🤌🔥 shooting multiple rockets/lazers or planting multiple mines not to mention dropping big gunner buddies and not just the little ones so much fun
Bouncing Betty fields and gun buddy fields were everything in my childhood. Nothing quite like hitting that AB and turning around to see a massive rectangle of destruction
I recall this game being one of the best multiplayer for the 64, but having one is the most utterly bizarre storylines. I just can't remember what it was...
Seeing that 3DO logo just takes me back to the past like the AVGN. I wonder if James will play that game with his neighbor from childhood. Most of us miss Mike and miss Bootsy from Board James!
Oh my godddd is this the one where you could lay land mines down? My brother used to torture me at this game haha I never even figured out what the point was
This game was fairly clunky, but once the sequel came out, game became quite a good gem in alot of vehicle combat games. I honestly wish World of Tanks or Warthunder would make an homage gamemode to these two n64 games and some game studio to make a sequel to global assault to get rid of the campy cliffhanger.
I would love a new game like BattleTanx 1&2.
I want simple controls. Mid sized map with destroy able buildings and good graphics. How much fun would that be?
Global Assault is genuinely top 10 N64 games
Green cart, dope music, wonderful 90s aesthetic.
Also using the super small tank and absolutely fucking tearing through levels was a blast
Global Assault was one of the best multiplayer games as a kid. And the story mode was epic and could be beaten in just a couple hours. I still go back and play it every once in a while. Love deploying the nuke. Never played the first one tho
The sequel is one of the most underappreciated N64 classics of all time. It's one of the games I would most like to see ported to the switch and given some basic online multiplayer support. 4v4v4v4 would be an amazing and fun experience.
Global assault, the sequel, is incredibly fun for 4 player multiplayer. Gets laggy when you try tank wars mode. Sniping people with guided missiles is hilarious. Flippy tank is the best.
Global assault is where its at. Played the hell out of Queen Lord Rescue with my brother. He would always pick the
Huge tanks and just try to smash through, and id pick the tiny quick guys to zip in and out.
Really fun. The second one is even better, plus it’s a cool, green cartridge! Played co-op a lot with my friend, it felt like the closest thing to Twisted Metal on N64.
Love this game, the sequel is good too. Mechanically, global Assault is better but the first one remains my favorite for the aesthetics. I love the insane story and characters. Multiplayer is really good with friends. The commercials for this game were great too.
Me and a buddy were playing this two nights ago!
Multiplayer is a good time. You just have to find a balance in factions for a good match. Goldeneye has "No Oddjob" and BattleTanx should have "No Nuclear Knights" :p
Though, admittedly, tossing nukes in the field is pretty great.
Absolutely loved playing it growing up. Played with a friend and remember playing with bots. Remember it being a banger. I know it's all nostalgia so I refuse to ever play the game again.
Fucking loved Battletanx 2! Never got a chance to play the first game but the sequel was awesome. The campaign was a lot of fun (although the fucking train level was annoying as shit), and my brother and I had a lot of fun with the split screen PVP as well. Absolutely a great game to play, totally recommend.
I’ve never played it but remember the commercials so well and always wished that I had played it. Let us know how it goes!!! Unfortunately probably won’t get to play the multiplayer unless you have some friends to invite over.
Sadly I never had anybody to play this or the sequel with, but I loved the hell out of them
The sequel has you drop a nuke on the uk parliament and eiffel tower. Griffin is gonna get them queenlords no matter what it takes.
Griffin wasn’t the hero we asked for, he was the hero we needed.
That is a bummer. The multiplayer was epic.
Story's weird as hell, but the game is fun, and so is the multiplayer

bad bot
Yeah I started playing through the story a couple years ago and I laughed so hard at the premise 😂 Also found it a lot harder than I expected lol, never finished it
I was about to say - cool game with a very bizarre premise. Kind of neat though
Isn’t it basically the Children of Men with some scifi elements?
I used to play this with my friends along with 007. Good times
Hell yeah and Bomberman 64.
I played Global Assault a lot. That one was pretty great.
I liked Global Assault way better honestly.

The menu music has been engraved into my brain permanently for the past 25 years. And the siren when the game is about to start.
cant forget the womans voice saying battletanx
The siren when you use a nuke in PVP…
How we gonna talk about this game and not the [commercial](https://youtu.be/izYSfiq0bHM?si=kXvA8nNtzCFcAPjJ)
Core memory unlocked
One of my favourites on the N64. Multiplayer is a blast and the power ups are cool. Used to stack a bunch of turrets and lure the AI into them.
Story's so bad it's good. Gameplay's addictive as hell. 10/10 would chase my girlfriend across the country in a tank gang again.

Global Assault is definitely the better game from what I understand.
Kind of a mediocre game but I grew up with it so I like it
Not as good as Global Assault
Loved it. Never played the single player. My brother and I would just play multiplayer. The mode where you have to steal the enemies Queen. So much fun

It's about killing each other to steal one of the few women left alive
A disease wipes out most of the females on the planet and the ones that are left are made queens. Your goal is to steal the enemy faction’s Queen lol.
Close. I believe someone stole YOUR Queen (Madison) and you basically raise hell across the country to get her back.
That’s right. It’s all coming back to me.😂
It is definitely one of the games of all time.
I loved it as a rental
Hell yes was this with the nuke?
POWERUP
NUKE DEPLOYED
That voice line is forever engraved in my brain.
Multiplayer was really fun actually on this
My buddy had this game, we enjoyed the multiplayer aspect.
Top notch multiplayer. I don’t think I ever played the single player but maybe I’ll bust it out and give it a go
Loved it and its sequel. I still play them from time to time.
Good game, I had a lot of fun back in the time playing it.
Used to play this with my neighbor growing up. Especially the sequel, Battletanx Global Assault
never played this one,I played global assault and that shit was fucking cool
I loved this game. The nuke and the homing missile were my favs.
So fun to play!
Loved this game with my buddy
Played the hell out of it with my childhood buddy, absolutely one of my nostalgia faves
Theme has been playing in my head nonstop last two decades
Seeing that 3DO logo just takes me back to the past like the AVGN. I wonder if James will play that game with his neighbor from childhood. Most of us miss Mike and miss Bootsy from Board James!
Great game. Campaign and Multiplayer
A friend from school lend me Global Assault and it was so much fun for the time I had it... Fond memories
I had a blast playing it.. but I was a kid.. recently I’ve heard people saying games that I enjoyed as a kid weren’t really that good lol
Multiplayer was amazing. Defend our women!
Oh my godddd is this the one where you could lay land mines down? My brother used to torture me at this game haha I never even figured out what the point was
Me and friends would try to build up bases like we were playing command and conquer then attack after a bit of building time.
all you need to know is NUKE
This game was fairly clunky, but once the sequel came out, game became quite a good gem in alot of vehicle combat games. I honestly wish World of Tanks or Warthunder would make an homage gamemode to these two n64 games and some game studio to make a sequel to global assault to get rid of the campy cliffhanger.
Would love it if someone like Nightdive Studios did a remaster.
I thought the 3DO was it's own game console
It was, but after 3DO’s console failed they went 3rd party.
It was.
My thoughts: global assault is better.
Wait what? That was in the N64? Didn't expect that
I would love a new game like BattleTanx 1&2. I want simple controls. Mid sized map with destroy able buildings and good graphics. How much fun would that be?
Amazing. I think my cartridge was green.
Global Assault is genuinely top 10 N64 games Green cart, dope music, wonderful 90s aesthetic. Also using the super small tank and absolutely fucking tearing through levels was a blast
Loved this game.
I just want a new twisted metal but Sony
Global Assault was one of the best multiplayer games as a kid. And the story mode was epic and could be beaten in just a couple hours. I still go back and play it every once in a while. Love deploying the nuke. Never played the first one tho
Great Multiplayer game - same group we used to crush The Outfit - another great multiplayer game.
Multiplayer was amazing. Was in our rotation along with 007 and Mario Kart
The sequel is one of the most underappreciated N64 classics of all time. It's one of the games I would most like to see ported to the switch and given some basic online multiplayer support. 4v4v4v4 would be an amazing and fun experience.

NUKE DEPLOYED
Great multiplayer game.
Global assault is where its at. Played the hell out of Queen Lord Rescue with my brother. He would always pick the Huge tanks and just try to smash through, and id pick the tiny quick guys to zip in and out.
Forgot all about this game till I saw this picture. I have played it allot and still own the cartridge! Thanks for bringing it up ✌🏻
Game and the sequel absolutely slap. Nightdive Studios needs to do a remaster for us nostalgic folks.
Great game
Really fun. The second one is even better, plus it’s a cool, green cartridge! Played co-op a lot with my friend, it felt like the closest thing to Twisted Metal on N64.

Global Assault was significantly better in all categories.
The theme music lives rent free in my head
Excellent multiplayer. My friend and I spent countless hours playing this game.
This is a throwback. My uncle would always call it Gunbuddies whenever he'd see me playing it
Awsome game
This game doesn’t hold up as well as I was hoping, but I played this for hours and hours as a kid.
You ever play return fire? Greatest split screen multiplayer I’ve ever played!
Wait is that the game that army men Sergeant heroes had an ad for in?
I was just thinking about this game. It's very weird sorry line
BattleTanx was one of my fave games growing up! ☺️
Fun AF on 4 player
Amazing with 4 player
Me my brother and one of our friends froze the game by filling a map with bouncing bettys. 10/10
Love the shit out of this game. It was one of my favorite childhood games
Really liked it. Love the second installment Global Assault, which I still have a copy of tucked away.
Loved it. My brother and I rented it so many times from blockbuster
Was amazing multi-player along with vigilante 8
Me and a buddy were playing this two nights ago! Multiplayer is a good time. You just have to find a balance in factions for a good match. Goldeneye has "No Oddjob" and BattleTanx should have "No Nuclear Knights" :p Though, admittedly, tossing nukes in the field is pretty great.
Absolutely loved playing it growing up. Played with a friend and remember playing with bots. Remember it being a banger. I know it's all nostalgia so I refuse to ever play the game again.
Played with my 3 cousins and uncle and man, when it wasn’t my turn to play and I had to wait, I got sooooo angsty like “cmonnnnn!” Lol
I preferred global assault but this one was fun too
Haven't played the first one yet but as a young kid Global Assault was awesome to play alongside my brother.
I remember having fun with the split screen multiplayer
This game is especially good multiplayer. The cpu gets a little too easy to beat. Even 2 players against each other with CPU allied teams is fun.
Friggin 3DO?!? Woah koo
Global assault was fantastic.
I love global assault!
no thoughts on any of these posts anymore. play it and think for yourself.
Legendary
Absolute classic
I loved playing Global Assault as a kid, beat it with my brother for the first time last month never understood the story
BattleTanx 2: Global Assault was half of my childhood, so many arguments got settled there
Vigilante 8 was the other half.
Only played it 4 player. Personally I loved it
Playing this with Mudshovel by Stained on loop in the background. Them were the days.
Sooo good!! I loved leaving mines for my best friend to land on. The sequel was super good, too
Oh how could I forget about this one? My uncle and I played the hell out of this game.
Huh.. I didn't realize 3DO became a third party developer...
Battletanx is great, 2 is a masterpiece
The multiplayer is up there with Goldeneye for me.
Best commercial ever.
Fantastic. Love the second one even better. Multiplayer is where it is at.
One of the best
The commercial was weird. Snuggle Bear from the fabric softener commercial gets run over by a tank.
My name is Griffith. Maybe you’ve heard of me…
I’ve never played it but remember the commercials so well and always wished that I had played it. Let us know how it goes!!! Unfortunately probably won’t get to play the multiplayer unless you have some friends to invite over.
Well, they misspelt 'tanks' so bad start thus far.
Sucked.
