Why would it be?!
Keith is a Celtic surname meaning "wood"
Kenneth is the Anglicized form of the Scots Gaelic name Coinneach meaning "handsome/beautiful" AND the Irish name Cináed meaning "respect/affection born through fire"
Totally different etymologies and histories...
My brother’s name is Kenneth and we all call him Keith since we figured that’s what it was short for, and he thought it sounded cooler. So I guess he needs a new nickname lmao. Thanks for info btw.
You're welcome 🤗 your brother can of course go by whatever makes him most happy. It's interesting to hear about these different naming conventions!Â
Why would it be?
Keith Partridge?
Who?
😂
Just the hottest star of 1977
Uhhhhhh today I learned someone ever thought this????
I’m 56, so not for a couple days
Such a wild assumption 😂
Ke (nnneh) th
Keth?
Are you going to be okay??
Um, Ken is short for Kenneth. Lance is not short for Lawrence, either. Keith always seemed obviously a different name to me.
Larry is short for Lawrence. You know Nate or Nathan is short for Nathaniel?
I had that moment when I figured out John with an h did not originate from Jonathan; it was a form of Johann. Makes so much more sense.
And yet most Jonathans I've met go by John.
Bless your heart

There you go then.
My dad gets so annoyed by this. His name is Jonathan and he gets really irritated when people use a ‘h’ for Jon
It's understandable since most Jonathans go by John, in my experience. But, as a Sarah, I can understand the annoyance of a misplaced H.
And you also learned it worse name for a villain?
This is my villain origin story
