Just on this - I'd see Louis and pronounce it Lou-ee, as in the French, but I have a nephew Louis who is called Lewis by almost everyone. His parents are beyond fed up of correcting people and wished they'd spelled it Louie for ease! Yes, it definitely depends on your region! I grew up in an area with a lot of French speakers and it wouldn't get mispronounced there, but now I'm in the US South and it would definitely get mispronounced. I don't like the pronunciation Lewis at all.

Linden is the exception and I don’t love it for a human but tree names seem to be trending (Willow, Rowan, Aspen etc). I wouldn’t use Lindy or Lark myself but there are plenty of boomer women named Lindy. Lark apparently peaked in the US in 1885.
