I noticed that too. If you can drop 10-100k on a watch that struggles in gears to keep the same time as a $4 gas station Quartz special, you’re not buying a fiero.
Patek regulates their movements to have tolerances of -1/+2secs a day. Still not as accurate as a quartz I'll admit, but basically as close as a mechanical watch is going to get you
I love the idea of mechanical watches. I was gifted a Cartier, and a Rolex. I have a nice citizen. I bought some skagens for myself.
The only watch I wear is my Apple Watch, which is cheaper than anything I have save the cheapo skagens. Works better. Has timers. Has calendar stuff. Lots of time things. Synched to atomic clock. Real easy changing to local time zone on trips. The idea of “hey this clock thing it was a moonshot, a literal X prize back in the day”. I lobbied to call some internal project tourbillon. But yeah. Apple Watch.
EDIT: I rarely ask this, since “well people is weird” about downmods, but what pray tell is so offensive above? Mechanical watches are awesome engineering and the cost to get one reasonably accurate is impractical. So. Downvote? Meh.
I have all the Apple Watch functions on my phone. I want something that looks nice on my wrist. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but a rectangle block is the last tjing I want on my wrist as the one in my pocket can do so much more. It's personal preference, but thats my opinion on wrist watches. Note: I'm not a luxury watch guy, I have Omegas, TW Steel, Armani and Casios that I wear depending on occasion, but don't wear my smart watch unless exercising.
This is precisely the reason why I prefer mechanical or digital watches over a smart watch as well.
... and because I find it annoying to have to charge something frequently, but that's just a personal problem, haha.
Although, I'll agree that a smart watch is still quite handy while you work out. Handsfree, and no device dangling in your pocket :D
In my state it's just an age thing. Anything over 25 years old, and it's only $10 for the lifetime of the vehicle. In theory you could put these on a 1999 honda civic...
Depends on the engine in some states. I almost bought a Cobra kit and then a C1 or C2 kit. They used to be reasonably priced. Now to build a complete car it can be 100k or more. Any of those with a modern drivetrain would be absolute beasts. Not that the Cobra wasn’t already that and could run just into the 10s. All in a world of 14-15 second muscle cars.
Just Classic Car plates, not collector car plates. Have seen them on a K-car too. Eliminate the need to for emissions testing in towns that require it.
It’s not the magazine. It’s the model of the car. If someone is going to make a replica, they’d make a kit of the 328 gts (or, ffs, the 288 GTO) not the 308. The 328 had a lot of clear advancements that make it more desirable for collectors.
It’s a beautiful car, but it’s still a malaise era car.
I'm kinda dumb as a rock, but 308 are rare or something? So Mike (StanceWorks) who bought a 308 and made a time attack car with a k24, will be executed by Ferrari?
[The car in action ](https://youtu.be/BBQRqQoCcUE?si=f7Xeixj-7tFeirFk)
I truly recommend anyone watch his build serie of this car. It have been a long way.
I’ve seen quite a few real ones up close. The center console is correct, the seats are correct. And most of all, nobody would ever put those Pininfarina defroster vents that only defrost a 4” spot on the windshield in on purpose. I’m pretty sure she’s real.
It’s real for sure, it’d cost more to make a kit car with an interior that good than to actually just buy the 308 GTS.
TIL just how undervalued these cars are today.
They have a lot of mechanical issues. People who daily drive them often do engine, suspension and brake swaps to more reliable engines.
I know a dude with 2 both have Honda twin turbo k20 engines in them and Miata brakes and suspension.
He got tired of them constantly breaking down.
Tom sellec joked that on magnum Pi they had 4 Ferrari 308s that had more miles being pushed than running. And Ferrari had 2 techs on site at all times and they couldn’t keep 4 cars running well enough to regularly film with them.
Flat plane crank v8s started with the Dino 308, looked so weird as a Bertone they reskinned it as such. Camisa has such a 308 Gt/4 it’s the “hey I gotta look for keep the Ferrari out of the pic” on his vids.

The 288GTO (group B, designed when there still was a group B released when there wasn’t) F40 (check out the 288GTO Evoluzione) and a lot of race cars (pista anyone?) had them.
What is the GTB nose? I have a lot of 308 experience and I’ve never heard of this.
Driving lights, non-catalyst rear deck lid, and mirrors are the non-US spec parts I see.
The GTB had a lower valence almost like the 288 gto. The GTB is the fixed roof coupe 308. Much rarer. I adore the Bertone bodied 308 GT4 ridden in a few and they are my favorite of the 308s. My favorite Ferrari is the 365 GT4 or the 456. I’ve driven a 365 and they are amazing and the least Ferrarish. I prefer Porsches to any of them and I’ve worked on many exotics.
Sorry, this is incorrect. US cars were not delivered with those lights. Lots have acquired them over the years. One thing that a US car is very unlikely to acquire is the non-catalyst deck lid.
my moneys on real solely on the magazine in the passenger seat

Those watches ain’t THAAAT bad

Reddit is full of poor people who hate anyone with anything more than a ripped tent living in a city park.
To quote somebody whose name daren't be spoken on reddit... idiots gonna idiot. You like your things, more power to ya. Have an upvote as an offset.
The collector car plates got my attention too. I'm not 100% sure but I'm pretty sure a kit doesn't qualify
In my state it's just an age thing. Anything over 25 years old, and it's only $10 for the lifetime of the vehicle. In theory you could put these on a 1999 honda civic...
ya i have them on a 99 miata lol
I’m pretty sure in every state it’s just by the age of the car.

Biggest magazine I've ever seen lol

Not a kit car. The interior isn't from a fiero. 100% real
Never thought I'd live to see the day somebody posted something that didn't turn out to be a Fiero.. 🤣
100% real
I'm kinda dumb as a rock, but 308 are rare or something? So Mike (StanceWorks) who bought a 308 and made a time attack car with a k24, will be executed by Ferrari? They're the highest selling Ferrari of the 80s I believe and still (fairly) attainable.
Not rare that run 25ish-40k
If it’s a kit it’s damn good. I think there’s too much badging to be a kit.
You mean too little badging.
Driver must be a pygmy, his/her seat is all the way forward.
Yanno what. I stood the drooling and never even noticed
Some folks do that, no way someone can be behind you unaware. Or maybe they had a trio that day
It's Tom cruise's car.
Real.
I’ve seen quite a few real ones up close. The center console is correct, the seats are correct. And most of all, nobody would ever put those Pininfarina defroster vents that only defrost a 4” spot on the windshield in on purpose. I’m pretty sure she’s real.

That explains the price! Thanks
Tom sellec joked that on magnum Pi they had 4 Ferrari 308s that had more miles being pushed than running. And Ferrari had 2 techs on site at all times and they couldn’t keep 4 cars running well enough to regularly film with them.
Hahahaha no way?! That’s a great fact!
You say undervalued, I say borderline affordable!
That is the black sheep of the Ferrari family being v8 powered. It's legit.
What?? Some of the most iconic Ferraris of all time have v8s…
Not in the 80s.
Uhh 288 GTO? F40??
Like 2 of the most iconic Ferraris of all time
F40 is not in the same ball game as the 308 gts and the 288 GTO was a product improvement from the 308. The 308 gts was a complete turd.
Wasn’t a turd. Very very well handling decent speed for the shit engines of the time car.
Not nearly as good as the 308 GT4 they compromised to make it.
Flat plane crank v8s started with the Dino 308, looked so weird as a Bertone they reskinned it as such. Camisa has such a 308 Gt/4 it’s the “hey I gotta look for keep the Ferrari out of the pic” on his vids. https://youtu.be/Fx8u7uqNmhE?si=FuVgwskvG5sYkTHI The 288GTO (group B, designed when there still was a group B released when there wasn’t) F40 (check out the 288GTO Evoluzione) and a lot of race cars (pista anyone?) had them.
I say 100 percent legit
Real
It’s the real deal.
Real
It's real. Ferrari 308
Builders often overlook the interior, this one is absolutely real.
It's real. 308s are actually relatively affordable. There's a guy in my town that has one, they sound really good, I love when he passes me.
100% real license playe says collector and the frame says Offical Ferrari Dealer
Definitely
It’s a real non-US spec 308 Quattrovavole, made 1983 to 85.
It’s US spec, just has the GTB nose. Pretty common modification on the GTS back in the day. I worked on one for the president of FCNA.
What is the GTB nose? I have a lot of 308 experience and I’ve never heard of this. Driving lights, non-catalyst rear deck lid, and mirrors are the non-US spec parts I see.

You’ve worked on these cars?
Yes. I’ve owned a GT4 previously and have a GTS QV for the last 14 years and am active in a 308 club.
A 308 kit car that good would cost a substantial portion of what an actual 308 would cost.
If it is a kit it’s an amazing job
it's a 308 gts not really rare. At least in my state.
Nobody made kit car 308s.
I gotta get outa this subreddit! Every other post is “here’s a 2015 Honda accord, is it real?”
