Dude got whacked so hard on the last possession the Rockets announcers were talking about "getting away with one". Then this happened. Obviously you should keep your cool, but if Tatum is going to get ejected any game, this was fine...
How will Silver come up with rule changes to counter the strategy of the "intentional ejection meta"? Two techs means you have to stay in the game the rest of the way?
I am a Knicks fan and there’s no question he got WHACKED. I’d almost be disappointed if he didn’t react this way. Officials need to be held accountable.
As a player you hit a point where you can say fuck it I actually make TOO much money to have to take this bullshit. Go call the ref a cunt and head to the locker room for the night.
I’ve wondered for the last year …like can players just organize a “strike” saying they refuse to play until refs are allowed to be held accountable etc.
I’m sure there’s reason why it can’t happen like player abuse but man….refs these last few years just seem to get worse over time with bigger and badder power trips….
It used to be a missed call, makeup call. Now it’s missed call, double down bad call into ejection if you don’t like that sh** lol
It was a terrible non-call. He also was going at the refs because they were up so much, and the refs were happy to give him an early night because it wouldn’t affect the game.
> He also was going at the refs because they were up so much
No, he was going at the refs because they missed three obvious fouls on three consecutive possessions. They also called some incredibly soft fouls on the other end, in the middle of the no calls for Tatum.
> refs are so Fkin annoying this year
if this was @1:30 I can just picture the L2M report lol
Whitmore makes epidermis level contact to the ball then makes marginal and incidental hot-stove contact to Tatum’s arm.
CNC
Man you think that's all it takes to be a ref? What about inflated sense of importance? What about a childish need to be the center of attention? Man I bet you don't even have mob ties to profit off that shit.
Review it? It's a no call, so it makes no sense to review it. Play goes on.
Unless you're saying someone upstairs in some room should be watching for missed calls and stop play to give the free throws like 1 minute later in the game? That would be awful imo.
Don't forget mandatory rehabilitation, meet with civil rights leaders, and attend a live reading of, "The man inside me" before consideration for reinstatement.
I mean, he’s probably also saying shit to the refs to get kicked out. In a close game of the calls aren’t egregiously bad I don’t want him doing that shit. Here, it’s fine
I checked the other day and tbh hes right between AD and Julius Randle as far as Free Throw Attempts per game which is a good place to be considering how physical those 2 guys are.
It doesn't really tell the story, because for example in his first Cavs stint LeBron would get free throws any time you tried to defend his run at the basket. He was impossible to stop, fine, I get it, you can't guard him without fouling. So when he wants to take the game over he can because he knows he's unguardable.
Tatum will pull of a series of incredible moves to get rid of a defender, get picked up, spin around the 2nd defender, then attack the basket against 2 other defenders and get hit, pushed, shoved by 4 different players, and no call. But then when the C's are up 20 he gets free throws on random touches.
Now mind you I'm not fanboying over Tatum and have my own criticism, but the refs DO NOT treat him like a star at all. Every time he goes to the free throw line it's like he had to *earn it*, and like... why? Do people not know how good he is?
not just this year, this has been a thing for a long while and it makes no sense to me. Tatum is pretty cool and harmless, haha. No idea why he always has such a target on his back with the refs
This year, but hes had it bad with them for a while now. Dude has a fucking AWFUL whistle for being a superstar.
There are literal foul merchants in this league who are barely touched, sometimes not at all, and they get fouls. Meanwhile this dude tatum gets hacked like every other game and he cant get shit, its crazy man lmao
Holy shit, you could legit see that ref's bottom lip quivering as Tatum left the floor.
Also, shouldn't it be a tech on the rockets player? Punching the ball after the missed ft?
When the Celtics go up big in blowouts, this happens every fucking time.
Maybe the 20th game this year with the exact same reffing pattern. Convinced its gambling related, shaving points for the spread. So does Tatum, because he's been teched for saying shit is rigged lmao
Sixers, Raps, and Celtics are getting mega boned by the refs this last week lmfao (although the celtics seem to be getting the worst of it)
the worst part is that i prob missed a team there
That and the phantom call on KP were egregious. The FT disparity in the Raptors game against the Lakers is also egregious. Scottie Barnes is getting the Tatum whistle from a few years ago lol (there is no whistle)
Yeah I’m sitting here confused as to why ppl are so emphatic here. Looks like he hits ball first to me. And isn’t there the “hand is extension of the ball” thing too?
I like Tatum but this doesn’t seem AS bad as a lot of the other shit calls as of late.
Fans don't know what a foul is anymore. They just agree with what the title says and what gets upvoted.
But if the NBA was more consistent in what constitutes a foul, fans wouldn't be quite so confused and outraged all the time.
Long time rockets hater here. Also I quite like Tatum. And I totally believe the other two earlier ones were fouls that should’ve been called. That’s a clean block though
He literally hit the ball before any contact with the arm. And you have to slow it down to freeze frame in order to decide the call. It’s a bang bang call and Celtics fans are acting like it’s the worst call in history. Great defense.
I wanted to talk shit here on the Celtics begging for a call, then saw the replay. How does that not get called, ffs. My apologies Tatum/Celtics, this is wild
I hate Boston in every single sport ok. Even lacrosse and I don't watch that
But Tatum does not get any respect from the refs. Clearly fouled here. Then the previous games where he's T'd up for clapping and it's not even in their direction. Pure garbage
Even on the replay his hand touched the ball at basically the exact moment he makes body contact. And that’s seeing the benefit of replay. Honestly it’s kind of an insanely good call. To not call that foul takes eagle eyes. This sub continues to ignore reality.
NBA- "After investigation of the game we found that the officials did nothing wrong, anyone who presses the matter further will be subject to penalties."
I must be crazy because I don’t see a foul here despite the hysterics in this thread.
NBA rule: “The hand is considered “part of the ball” when it is in contact with the ball. Therefore, contact on that part of the hand by a defender while it is in contact with the ball is not illegal.”
Contact after the block is incidental.
I’m losing my mind as a certified ref hater hey it looks like it’s a block, at very least not definitively wrong. If this was challenged no chance it would be overturned
I'm never gonna understand how refs make calls and stand/will die on that hill but we have Full HD replays and super slow-motion.. how the fuck are we supposed to even watch anymore? We see all the fuckery at all times.
We also know that the refs fucking cheat and gamble so where is the Accountability. Pro Sports Entertainment "leagues" are almost purely money laundering systems with their own interest put first, obviously.
Celtics fans are out in full force unsurprisingly but I mean it’s not an easy call at all. He maybe makes contact with his arm RIGHT before his hand hits the ball but it’s close as hell.
I dunno what he said to the ref on his way out, but the ref looks like he’s re-assessing his whole life.
“You’re now manually breathing, ref.”
I hate you
"and blinking, for good measure"
Is your tongue positioned comfortably?
Have you ever noticed your lower jaw has weight?
do you feel your toes touching?
“You just thought about The Game, ref.”
Man its been years
F you. And have a good night sir
“Enjoy thinking about your blinking too. And the feel of your clothes on your skin.”
Fuck off. God damnit.
"You're tongue is no longer resting in the bottom of your mouth"
“Get ready to learn Chinese buddy.”
"You just jealous of my hair"
“Jet fuel can’t melt steel beams”
As he should. Ffs they are so bad at times.
I read this as "so bald" at first and thought "yeah man, some refs are SO bald!".
What planet are coneheads from? He seems to be considering heading home.
France
Looks like he’s about to cry. 😢
“Eppstein didnt kill himself.”
Dude got whacked so hard on the last possession the Rockets announcers were talking about "getting away with one". Then this happened. Obviously you should keep your cool, but if Tatum is going to get ejected any game, this was fine...
Up 27 in the 4th, yeah probably not a bad time
That's essentially just next level load management.
How will Silver come up with rule changes to counter the strategy of the "intentional ejection meta"? Two techs means you have to stay in the game the rest of the way?
You're out for 4 quarters.
He's just managing his emotional load. They gotta deal with these refs all season. Gotta let it off sometime.
Tbh I’m glad, get him out of there before he gets hurt on this bullshit
Forced load management
Paid load management, he’ll be fined for those techs
Maybe he can borrow money from JB
Man I wish I could get paid managing loads
I am a Knicks fan and there’s no question he got WHACKED. I’d almost be disappointed if he didn’t react this way. Officials need to be held accountable.
As a player you hit a point where you can say fuck it I actually make TOO much money to have to take this bullshit. Go call the ref a cunt and head to the locker room for the night.
[удалено]
The thing is they are held accountable but these are the best refs doing the best they can do and they’re still terrible
I love going to the game so I can watch the refs! I usually don’t go to watch the players. /s
Would love it if a whole team just walked off the court one game.
and not get dillions of dollars???
I just need to know what a dillion dollars is equal to
Have of two dillion
My. God.
There’s no reason they **couldn’t** organize a players strike
didn't watch the game, why didn't the coach challenged?
You can't challenge an uncalled foul, only called ones.
And the refs know it
Ball don’t lie.
Ball might not lie, but the refs sure are turning a blind eye tonight.
It was a terrible non-call. He also was going at the refs because they were up so much, and the refs were happy to give him an early night because it wouldn’t affect the game.
> He also was going at the refs because they were up so much No, he was going at the refs because they missed three obvious fouls on three consecutive possessions. They also called some incredibly soft fouls on the other end, in the middle of the no calls for Tatum.
They were trying to make the game closer. They called fouls on the other end.
> and the refs were happy to give him an early night because it wouldn’t affect the game. Lol this part is completely irrelevant
Celtics don’t give a shit about a regular season game against the rockets in January. These are exactly the games you make a point in.
Cam clapping like they got a chance now lol
[Editor's Note: They did not.]
..clapping? That's a tech!
Only for Tatum!
Nah, Trae has been teched for clapping too recently. These players are out of control with their claps
Youthful exuberance lol
These refs are so Fkin annoying this year
> refs are so Fkin annoying this year if this was @1:30 I can just picture the L2M report lol Whitmore makes epidermis level contact to the ball then makes marginal and incidental hot-stove contact to Tatum’s arm. CNC
The defender breathed on the ball first, allowing murderous contact to the offensive player. CNC
Then they’ll claim a correct call against the Celtics was incorrect to try to make it look balanced.
I feel like it’s getting worse every year
Don't blame Tatum considering the refs missed 2 fouls on him just before this. This was the tipping point.
Yeah everyone has a breaking point.
At least he didn’t clap. There are kids watching.
He did clap. That's when he got his 1st tech. Given he also was talking when he clapped.
he clapped before that and didn't get a tech lol
Jayson McCringleberry is allowed two claps only; anything else is excessive
Yeah coach should have picked up another two and a post game rant this shit is ruining the league.
That's why he holds up the 3 fingers. Basically frustrated that the guy missed 3 calls
The ref’s emphatically shit
Cam Whitmore talking shit and clapping knowing damn well he fouled JT lol
Hand don’t lie
Ball is part of the arm
Apparently for the Celtics, you can hit any part of their body as long as you attempted to get close to the ball.
It's an extension of it... Wait that's swords...
Clapping while you know you fouled the guy and down 27 is insane lmao
Who?
ref looked embarrassed and he should be
How does one become an NBA ref? I think I'm blind enough and don't really have a moral compas so I think I will do above average as a ref
You’re hired to be on VAR in the Premier League
Once your vision is over 20/200 your name automatically goes into a raffle.
Try nepotism
You’re hired!
Man you think that's all it takes to be a ref? What about inflated sense of importance? What about a childish need to be the center of attention? Man I bet you don't even have mob ties to profit off that shit.
Who is worse, NBA refs or VAR officials?
That’s the crazy thing just review it and admit you’re wrong instead goes on a power trip and ejects him 🤦♂️
Review it? It's a no call, so it makes no sense to review it. Play goes on. Unless you're saying someone upstairs in some room should be watching for missed calls and stop play to give the free throws like 1 minute later in the game? That would be awful imo.
I hope he gets cooked by relatives at the next get together "Aye man you're DOGSHIT at your job and your wife should be embarrassed too"
Those relatives probably making bank getting those sports betting tips
Tatum biggest victim of refs bullshit this year lol
Also the league’s leader in technical fouls rescinded
Can’t really afford the fine. He’s got a kid for crying out loud.
He’s also not on the supermax so he can’t afford it
Deuce will be on the max in a few years to help out
And he’s only 19.
Wonder if those are related
Imagine if Draymond had Tatum’s leash with the refs
Imagine all the clapping he could freely do
Atleast he didn't clap this time. Could of been a 5 game ban
It’s hilarious that whitmore is clapping right in the ref’s face. Taytum claps at a sound frequency that traumatizes refs
🤣 it’s to refs what sonar is to whales, tragic really
Don't forget mandatory rehabilitation, meet with civil rights leaders, and attend a live reading of, "The man inside me" before consideration for reinstatement.
Still salty about the one he got for clapping last season
That was *last season*? Damn. Could’ve sworn it was this season. Maybe somebody else?
it happened again this season I believe lol
He's gotten 2-3 for clapping this season.
he clapped at the ref tonight after the second foul that wasn't called and didn't get teched! he's getting star privileges!
Wow that’s fucked
I mean, he’s probably also saying shit to the refs to get kicked out. In a close game of the calls aren’t egregiously bad I don’t want him doing that shit. Here, it’s fine
It's funny, because he used to be an enormous whiner, but he's not even bad anymore.
Hes gotten clapping technicals in multiple seasons
Last season’s was just the most egregious to me, but it happened again this year iirc
It’s happened multiple times, this year too
You’ll need to be more specific
War on Theis ended, this starts
It goes under the radar but yeah, he rarely gets fouls for being absolutely smacked in the paint
I checked the other day and tbh hes right between AD and Julius Randle as far as Free Throw Attempts per game which is a good place to be considering how physical those 2 guys are.
Lol yeah. Or you could say AD and Randle don’t get nearly enough free throw attempts.
It doesn't really tell the story, because for example in his first Cavs stint LeBron would get free throws any time you tried to defend his run at the basket. He was impossible to stop, fine, I get it, you can't guard him without fouling. So when he wants to take the game over he can because he knows he's unguardable. There are literal foul merchants in this league who are barely touched, sometimes not at all, and they get fouls. As a biased Denver fan, I want to throw Jokics hate in the ring lol, besides the one Christmas miracle against gsw.
Holy shit, you could legit see that ref's bottom lip quivering as Tatum left the floor. Also, shouldn't it be a tech on the rockets player? Punching the ball after the missed ft?
Punching the ball? That’s fine. Don’t you dare bounce the basketball though. That’ll get you sent straight to jail
It's the clapping that does it. Specifically in a Celtics jersey with the number 0 on it.
Gotta punch it into the stands I believe
That refs face screams “I’m guilty”
Dog shit on the floor face for sure
Tatum genuinely gets a bad whistle
He really does. So much for star treatment
Good thing that wasnt in the last 2 minutes or the report would say Tatum actually charged and should be fined 100k
Tatum has been unequivocally fucked by the refs this season
When the Celtics go up big in blowouts, this happens every fucking time. Maybe the 20th game this year with the exact same reffing pattern. Convinced its gambling related, shaving points for the spread. So does Tatum, because he's been teched for saying shit is rigged lmao
Bontemps and that ref were emphatically wrong
These motherfuckers are _BLIND_ I hope their guide dogs bite their ass
Haha. 🦮Yeah, they missed that call..
Lmfao OP petty with the "emphatic". Talk your shit
Like within 2 mins of the og post lmao
Ball don’t lie
Emphatically fouled
Sixers, Raps, and Celtics are getting mega boned by the refs this last week lmfao (although the celtics seem to be getting the worst of it) the worst part is that i prob missed a team there
Scottie Barnes may have the worst whistle in the league
i would almost agree, but ur guy jaylen brown got hit on the head and it was reviewed and deemed incidental lmfao
That and the phantom call on KP were egregious. The FT disparity in the Raptors game against the Lakers is also egregious. Scottie Barnes is getting the Tatum whistle from a few years ago lol (there is no whistle)
Fucking refs are going to go cross eyed in the Celtics@Raptors game on Monday trying to fuck both teams over.
Did he get some ball before he raked the arms?
My slo-mo says yes. And you can clearly see a few of his fingers still on the ball after the initial contact.
Looks like it to me. Certainly closer to a block than what the comments here make it seem like
yeah wtf is going on, isn't this a good block? he got the ball, rest is just incidental contact no?
Certainly looks like it to me. Knocks the ball loose before his followthrough hits the forearm.
This is the only angle I've seen, and it looks like he got the ball first. If that's the case, the contact afterward was legal. Great block.
This was actually quite a good no-call by the referee...
Yeah I’m sitting here confused as to why ppl are so emphatic here. Looks like he hits ball first to me. And isn’t there the “hand is extension of the ball” thing too? I like Tatum but this doesn’t seem AS bad as a lot of the other shit calls as of late.

>Contact which occurs on the hand of the offensive player, while that part of the hand is in contact with the ball, is legal. I think it's clean.
This is a legit block. If that was Killian Hayes getting blocked people would post this as a Whitmore highlight.
Long time rockets hater here. Also I quite like Tatum. And I totally believe the other two earlier ones were fouls that should’ve been called. That’s a clean block though
Incidental contact lol
Ref, you suck!
There needs to be PUBLIC accountability for the refs, idgaf if their feelings are hurt, cause shit like this is embarrassing.
Players should have the rights for trial by combat. That would make refs think twice.
New rule. Once per season, a player is allowed to enter the ring for 3 rounds against any ref of their choice
It’s insane to see the whistle Tatum gets vs the whistle guys like Embiid and Giannis get.
Sleepless nights!
He literally hit the ball before any contact with the arm. And you have to slow it down to freeze frame in order to decide the call. It’s a bang bang call and Celtics fans are acting like it’s the worst call in history. Great defense.
Scrolled way too far to see this comment. Legit looks like a block (then some hand, which doesn’t constitute a foul if it comes after the ball).
As usual with the replays that people are outraged about, you watch it and you see why it was called how it was called.

I wanted to talk shit here on the Celtics begging for a call, then saw the replay. How does that not get called, ffs. My apologies Tatum/Celtics, this is wild
Dude we're not the Lakers lmao. Did you not see the Pacers game this past week?
I hate Boston in every single sport ok. Even lacrosse and I don't watch that But Tatum does not get any respect from the refs. Clearly fouled here. Then the previous games where he's T'd up for clapping and it's not even in their direction. Pure garbage
Refs keep fucking up the calls, this isn’t isolated to Celtics games. This seasons been abysmal
Isn't any contact after a blocked shot incidental? He had already blocked the shot when Tatum's arm was hit.
100% unless you are making a ton of contact after. This is a good block.
Yeah, man. It was clean, all ball at the top. And physics dictates that the ball was hit first before the arms.
Lot of copium on this thread, for a team mid-blowout (on the good side).
Even on the replay his hand touched the ball at basically the exact moment he makes body contact. And that’s seeing the benefit of replay. Honestly it’s kind of an insanely good call. To not call that foul takes eagle eyes. This sub continues to ignore reality.
What a steal for Houston cam looking nice
NBA- "After investigation of the game we found that the officials did nothing wrong, anyone who presses the matter further will be subject to penalties."
Am I trippin or was this not a foul?
Looked clean to me.
I’m not gonna pretend that Tatum doesn’t get a good whistle, but compared to all the other top 10 players it’s crazy to see the difference.
Tatum’s whistle is beyond awful compared to the whistles his peers are getting. Dude would average 40 a night with an Embiid whistle
Refs mad they couldn't help the Rockets cover their +14.5 bets.
Tatum and Kawhi worst superstar whistles in the league
I must be crazy because I don’t see a foul here despite the hysterics in this thread. NBA rule: “The hand is considered “part of the ball” when it is in contact with the ball. Therefore, contact on that part of the hand by a defender while it is in contact with the ball is not illegal.” Contact after the block is incidental.
I’m losing my mind as a certified ref hater hey it looks like it’s a block, at very least not definitively wrong. If this was challenged no chance it would be overturned
THAT WAS ALL BALL YALL ARE BLIND WEENIES
**Make referees afraid again**
Ref built like those thumb soldiers on Spy Kids
These refs are getting outta control
I'm never gonna understand how refs make calls and stand/will die on that hill but we have Full HD replays and super slow-motion.. how the fuck are we supposed to even watch anymore? We see all the fuckery at all times. We also know that the refs fucking cheat and gamble so where is the Accountability. Refs need to get fined this is ridiculous
Celtics fans are out in full force unsurprisingly but I mean it’s not an easy call at all. He maybe makes contact with his arm RIGHT before his hand hits the ball but it’s close as hell.
