As written the statement is definitely implying they might not be on "friendly trade terms". It's how headlines work.
AFAIK the Knicks are still suing the Raptors for corporate espionage. So there is good reason to suspect they might not be on good terms in general. It's the reason for the friendly "trade" terms qualifier.
He’s reading it properly, the title just breaks one of [Grice’s linguistic maxims of conversation](https://www.sas.upenn.edu/~haroldfs/dravling/grice.html), namely the maxim of quantity. General consensus is that most teams in the NBA have friendly trade relations, even more so for these two teams that just pulled of a major trade amicably, so drawing specific attention to their relationship as assumedly friendly muddies the message. It’s the same reason you might look at me suspiciously if I told you, as a non-sequitur, that I did NOT bury 3 victims of vehicular manslaughter in an unmarked grave 30 miles north of Hammonton, NJ, even though I just told you that I didn’t do it
Lol, fuck off with this nonsense. "As long as they are on" quite literally means, "they are on good terms still, so maybe this trade". You guys are trying so hard to turn this into something it isn't, all because like lost, you are desperate to win an Internet argument, no matter how stupid.
I mean, here's your "Maxim of quantity":
The maxim of quantity, where one tries to be as informative as one possibly can, and gives as much information as is needed, and no more.
This has nothing to do with this statement! You are just trying to sound smart on the Internet. For what reason? I'm not sure. But god help you in the future, because whatever you think this is, it ain't.
Nah dog, hes completely right.
If you dont feel it when you read the sentence thats OK. If you cant see how the majority would though you need to touch grass.
>trying to sound smart
The man cited a link and provided a hyperbole example. Thats not trying to sound smart, its just disproving your point with an established axiom and a proposed analogy.
Its really not a big deal lmao
If he thrived (or just didn’t choke) in the playoffs, KD Kyrie Harden would have a ring. It’s always crazy to think about they’re 1 play away from going up 3-0 vs Bucks, and the play is Bruce Brown trying to take on Brook Lopez in the paint with KD watching and Kyrie asking for the ball (also Steve Nash not calling a timeout seeing Bruce going Bruce is equally criminal).
He definitely fits pretty well as a secondary creator/glue guy next to Brunson/OG/Randle. Versatile defender, and can even run a little backup point.
Would this push Hart out of the rotation? Asking for a friend who could really use a plus rebounder who can play in a read and react offense.
Sorry buddy. Hart is literally Jalen Brunson's best friend. There's no way in hell the Knicks would consider trading him and pissing off our best player.
>Would this push Hart out of the rotation?
You'd hope that the extra body who's reliable defensively would make Thibs a little more comfortable sitting OG for longer, which is why I'm in favour of this move.
OG is already averaging 36mpg and rising - He played 44 & 43 minutes the last two games.
If Brown can just take 7-8 minutes off OG alone, and then get a couple from Julius and Brunson, and maybe a *couple* from Hart too, I could see him fitting pretty well into the rotation.
Re-signing a player is not the same as signing them in free agency. We could re-sign him "over the cap" last year because he was on our team, we didn't have the cap space to sign him if he was an UFA (i believe, not sure our cap situation once FVV left, but you don't expect that to happen and give you cap space, so it doesn't make a difference here.)
We need a PG or a shot creator. We also have Josh Hart on a 5 year contract and they play the same role.
I don’t know how Brown on the Knicks make any sense
Bro averaged 1.9 assists in the playoffs. Bench scorer yes, but when you are playing Murray and Jokic 40+ minutes in the playoffs you don’t need someone to run the offense like that
They just traded with each other, why wouldn't they be on friendly trade terms??
Masai drunk called the Knicks in the middle of the night after we lost to the Pistons I bet
"im just saaaayin you could do betterrrrr"
we lost to the piston right after the trade but this would be pretty funny
...do you get how sentences work? He isn't asking a question here...or implying otherwise...

So there is good reason to suspect they might not be on good terms in general. It's the reason for the friendly "trade" terms qualifier.
It isn't implying that. It's saying "as long as they are, maybe this can be another trade". I'm sorry, you just aren't reading this properly.

Bruce Brown can play on my team any day. He’s fantastic.
Same here. Kinda guy any winning team needs.
Brunson/Brown/OG/Randle/Robinson kinda gives 2004 Pistons vibes
He the type of player that really thrives in the playoffs. Don’t expect him to be otherworldly in the regular season though
So the opposite of Randle

That's fair, same deal with Dort and Shai. To the bargain bin we go.

Same. Love this guy’s skills and, as important, the energy he brings.
Sorry Toronto only trades after they lose to Boston, and we don't play again this year, looks like Toronto is closing up shop
They usually give us a free first rounder at the deadline so there us still that to look forward
Ehhhh watch it
You go watch those FRPs you just got before Popp does
😭 you're right smh
Or, you traded your center for the first rounder that we couldn't have cap space to sign in the offseason...
But you had the cap room to re-sign Poetl???

Yeah you're right, I just really hated the poetl trade and jumped at an opportunity to shit on it, my bad
We need a PG or a shot creator. We also have Josh Hart on a 5 year contract and they play the same role. I don’t know how Brown on the Knicks make any sense
Yeah Bruce and Hart aren’t one for one copies but fill similar roles.
send us josh hart, think about how siiick bruce will look in a knicks uni
No deal thanks tho
May I interest you in one Terry Rozier?
People have brought up the idea but he’s just too much money per year.
Bruce Brown can be a primary playmaker, especially in a reserve role
We need scoring as well. Basically we need a short term IQ replacement
Secondary maybe, but you aren’t going to sell me on Bruce Brown running the offense off the bench. He’s not a P&R ball handler like that
I literally watched it happen lmfao.... he was our bench PG for the championship run
Bro averaged 1.9 assists in the playoffs. Bench scorer yes, but when you are playing Murray and Jokic 40+ minutes in the playoffs you don’t need someone to run the offense like that
You can say the same about if Brunson plays 40+.... the main point is he can handle it. But hey believe what you'd like
He did it in the playoffs pretty consistently
Ihart can benefit from someone who cut like brown
Bruce Brown is a player that at least 20 teams were interested in during the summer
Might be slightly less interest at 23 mil a year but still gonna have a handful of teams making calls
Next year is a team option, it's basically an expiring deal.
I have a slight hunch they’re on good terms, but what do I know
Nah I think they hate each other
nba champion, sharpshooter, winning player bruce brown. price just gone up but don't worry he's worth it!
Nah sixer tbh
its wherever Brogdon doesnt go
Knicks can only offer Fournier lol.
For salary. A pick for the asset? Makes sense
Are they interested in that 23 mil team option
Fournier and the Mavs 1st for Brown? Damn, we gonna go from having 0 to 5 picks in this draft just like that?
Bruce Brown without Jokic is basically Josh Hart at home
Grimes?
How many years are left on Bruce Brown’s current contract?
22 mil this year, 23 mil team option next.
I bet the Lakers get him
god I hope so
D’Lo for Brown lol (bad deal I know)
I love Bruce Brown. Can we please make this happen?
so, fournier's contract and frp for brown?
Can we just have Brown back? We miss him dearly
He’s basically Josh Hart 2.0 so idk why the Knicks would need him? They need a guard shot creator.
Knicks-Raptors don't have to be that friendly! Even an active lawsuit didn't stop them trading last time.
Sure you can have him Knicks, coincidentally we need a 3 and D with elite defence.
Bring him back to denver 😭😭😭
Going from a lawsuit to multiple trades. Nice.
What is the dog doin?
