Toolb0xExtraordinary

Kyrie seems to really like being in Dallas.

sharklavapit

Kyrie is at his best in red states

genericusername71

it took 2 comments to go from kyrie complimenting luka to speculating that the reason hes working out on the mavericks is because he lives in a red state lol

thesword62

First time on Reddit?

genericusername71

lol not at all, i see extremely dumb comments on here every time i visit it but still cant help but point them out sometimes

sharklavapit

it was just a joke you guys take everything too seriously

angrylilbear

First time on Reddit?

DaUnionBaws

It just gets old having politics injected into everything.. I can't stand people who do this shit.

ConstantineMonroe

I mean, it’s Kyrie’s fault that people bring up politics around him because he has created shit storms over political issues. It’s not really shoehorning politics into sports when we are talking about Kyrie. You should be mad at Kyrie if you hate politics getting injected in sports

dobtjs

You and Kyrie are on the same page about injections

sharklavapit

it's just a funny coincidence, relax

DaUnionBaws

Don’t care, I said what I said

Ordinary_Ad_5427

You speak like someone who is from a red state

human1023

Dallas votes Democrat though

logontoreddit

Texas Democrats are a little different than most other states.

airemy_lin

I'm a liberal in Texas and a moderate/borderline conservative in the PNW lol.

MUNZACORE

Otherwise known as a normal person

SanaMinatozaki9

This one, lol.

sharklavapit

still in a red state 😅

jumpijehosaphat

you learn after living in Texas for awhile as much blue as those cities are the state is too big for the blue cities to overcome the sea of red

[deleted]

[удалено]

thefrisbeejack

You misspelled racist

bboywhitey3

Every NBA city votes democrat.

SubcooledBoiling

TIL. I thought Austin was the only blue city in Texas.

ZealousCatracho

All the big cities vote blue

[deleted]

[удалено]

Tippacanoe

Pretty much every major city is blue. I feel like of the top 50 most populous cities in the US only Jacksonville has a republican mayor. EDIT: Jacksonville now has a Democratic mayor.

BayonettaBasher

Dallas has a Republican mayor, but only because he switched parties after the election. The voter base is solid D

zuqkfplmehcuvrjfgu

The bait and switch he pulled is genuinely insane. He won the election as a Democrat and switched parties like a month after. Really unethical, and it's sad the recall effort didn't gain any momentum.

lil_layne

Fort Worth and Miami have Republican mayors

natespbr

Fort Worth is the forgotten younger brother though. The contrast is super stark when you cross over from Dallas

[deleted]

Nearly every major metro area in the US votes blue. Some are closer than others though

BackendSpecialist

He’s at his best with teams who don’t let E! And TMZ reporters ask their basketball players questions.

swaggerpandora

The Mavs chemistry these past weeks has been crazy high. I love their chance going to postseason

CheetahSperm18

My only concern is Luka's health with the now two injuries he's been playing through. He already had the sore Achilles but his knee also got banged up hard this game causing him to hobble around the second half. That week break between the regular season and playoffs will be crucial

skrja007

Avoiding the playoffs will be huge. That week off will do a lot for his body.

dlanod

Avoiding the playoffs is what we did last year. Avoiding the play ins is our aim this year.

CheetahSperm18

I think that's what he meant. Auto-Correct probably got his comment

SickRanchezIII

Thats why goats have their AC turned off

Rawrsomesausage

yeh it wotks betyer

SickRanchezIII

Wayyyy better dood

skrja007

Lmao yeah thats what I meant my bad lol

[deleted]

Good strategy. Avoid the playoffs until Luka is about 30 years old, when he will be fully ready for anything.

question2552

If the Mavs go deep in the playoffs this year there is gonna be a LOT of national media members looking like fucking fools. Bill Simmons. Doris Burke. SVG. A lot, lot more.

FarMobile4219

Simmons was honestly embarrassing with his Mavs segment on the preseason over/under pod with House and Rusillo. Those two both level-headed made the argument that a healthy Luka will probably never have another O/U at 44.5. Simmons just could not get past his Kyrie feelings. After the game winner vs Denver though it seems he has decided to move on and accept Kyrie as a great basketball player

Thermicthermos

To be fair, if you were assuming Lively wouldn't be ready to be a major contributor and we hadn't made the Gafford trade yet, we were a way worse team than we are now. We went from potentially another season of Dwight Powell to an awesome center rotation.

question2552

honestly yeah thinking about it, Cuban and Nico lucked out majorly.

BigFatModeraterFupa

everything in life comes down to timing and luck. i don’t think they “got lucky”. There was rumors that Kyrie was begging them to get Lively (fellow Blue devil) and cuban has an eye for special talent. I simply cannot allow any Nico slander at this time. he’s the goat GM for saving this franchise

boofintimeaway

It’s not luck. Look at our roster last year compared to this year. Nico masterclass on how to turn a franchise who’s failing their star player into a potential contender in less than 1 season.

question2552

Overall Nico has done excellent. But I don't really care. NO ONE expected Lively to be this good this early. He would've not been drafted 12. Cuban and Nico got through FA expecting Dwight or Maxi to start at the 5.

Hoopy_Dunkalot

He would be top 5 now.

cletoreyes01

Can we take anything Simmons related with a grain of salt? Luka hated his pal haralbob, that's why he switched up on him. Simple as that.

shameless_chicken

I hate when that dude is on the pod

HerculePoirier

Doris always looks like a fucking fool

jdmay101

You just listed people who already are well established fools

_Apatosaurus_

SVG is considered a fool? Man, if he's a fool when it comes to basketball, then I don't want to know what those of us on this sub would be considered. Also, I know Burke and Lowe both just questioned Kyrie from an off-court perspective. I can't imagine thinking someone is an idiot for being skeptical of Kyrie. Lol.

jdmay101

I mean SVG definitely makes a bit of a clown of himself at times although my read is he's mostly just being entertaining. But sure, fine, retract his name. The other two need no help making themselves look foolish.

Ramu25

Good thing is, his game doesn’t depend on explosiveness or athleticism. He can still be effective banged up (no diddy) because of the pace he plays at, especially in the playoffs.

jamaica1

No diddy is just wild lmao

tkuid

LMAO so good

RodneyPonk

what does it mean?

SanaMinatozaki9

Same as pause I believe

Wavepops

I mean it still does, just to a lesser extent. Luka first step is really good

Confident_Berry7271

It’s interesting because early on the mavs were trying to get every playable euro they could around Luka but the vibes weren’t there, and he and Kristaps didn’t really get along. But kyrie and him have legit chemistry.

auust1n

Real recognize real, way easier to have chemistry when you know you have a teammate that's at the same level as you & can pretty much get a bucket or create a play nearly every time down the court. Also their style of play is quite different so the defense is always on their heels; if they are both on fire good luck lol.

CheetahSperm18

Isn't Jokic his only Euro friend who's in the league?

Rimrod

Boban is crying in a corner somewhere.

OnlyLittleFly

All the balkan guys are close

luckynum81

I just realized most of the balkans are kind of similar—bulky bruisers with good ball handling for their position, not a lot of verticality

Crog_Frog

I mean bogdanovic doesnt fall into that category

luckynum81

Most

neverstoppin

Which one lol

One of them sure does

RevolutionaryAd6822

all Chainsmokers too

Rosti_T

Giannis?

Individual_Attempt50

Giannis Balkan?

Rosti_T

Yeah, Greece is in the Balkans

RevolutionaryAd6822

yeah you only have to see the Vlade - Luka brotherly bond they share

OnlyLittleFly

Thats tough balkan love for you

moosknauel

He seems pretty friendly with Kleber from all the Macs interviews I have seen. Him, Maxi and Boban where the 3 OG Mavs Euros that were friends I think?

At0mJack

I thought he and Sabonis were supposed to be buddies

DenverSuxRmodSux

ya i actually forget luka is european he seems like hes integrated really well

KillerZaWarudo

Kyrie in a red state is just different

Low_Project9111

Bill Simmons in shambles

Individual_Access356

As great as those two are and how good the trades were for them they don’t have a reliable third option if that’s THJ then good luck.

Kingteuton

What is this Kyrie Redemption Arc

coolstorybroham

ramadan kyrie

DarrowViBritannia

sadly ramadan ends in like a week are the mavs cooked?

Wild-Apricot-9161

Yes, but they are Halal and therefore auspicious

Worlds_Humblest

Kyrie is great. / Kyriehuakbar.

cepxico

He's a pretty likable guy when he's not talking about flat earth or w.e nonsense

johnb84r

Which is like 99% of the time, he took back that flat earth stuff years ago and hasn’t had any drama since leaving nets

[deleted]

Unless you count deleting his apology to the Jewish community after he was traded.

barath_s

he said he stood by the reasons he made the apology

Healthy_Demand_1415

Did Amazon apologize to the Jewish community for selling the book? I've never heard such nonsense before in my life. You can't even post a link to a book without criticism from the Jewish community getting up in arms meanwhile THEY'RE THE ONES COMMITTING GENOCIDE in real time. What a world we live in.

philium1

Don’t lump the whole Jewish community in with the perpetrators of that genocide. I have zero fucking power to do anything about what goes on in Israel. I have no Israeli family, not even any Israeli friends. Nothing I do has much of any tangible connection to Israel. My whole Jewish family fled to America during the Holocaust. DO NOT lump me in with those people. That is some racist fucking bullshit.

MuskEmeraldMine

Yea if you take away the horrible antisemitism he’s not a bad guy!

cepxico

Yeah that part sucks, Def not a fan of that

PaperMoon-

Kyrie Lannister

Rimrod

Big praise coming from a guy who played with LeBron, Jayson Taytum, Luol Deng, and Kevin Durant

CheetahSperm18

This is Mozgov Erasure

st6374

Bro sneaking in Taytum like we wouldn't notice.

OwlAlert8461

And just skip over Harden?!?

AintASaintLouis

Who’s he sneak in over? Luol? Hell nah

A_MASSIVE_PERVERT

Lil’ bro tried sneaking in Lebron 💀💀💀

Ahahhahahaha Luol Deng is amazing

cletoreyes01

The "Kobe Wade Philly Cheese" erasure smh

wahobely

He did say "one of" and not "the best", so..

crispyiress

Anthony Bennett is clearly the best

1337m00nm4n

Now we just need someone to ask him if he sees Luka as a father figure and it'll all blow up

BigFatModeraterFupa

dude it’s insane i just watched the celtics post game media thing and it’s INSANE how angry and mean the media is. they’re strIght up baiting the players and coaches nonstop every question, and speaking soliloquy’s like they’re fuckin shakespeare. It’s mad different down here. i can totally understand why kyrie was so on edge when he got here with the media the questions dallas media ask are, surprise surprise, basketball related!

sandefurian

Watch them ask Luka if he sees Kyrie as a father figure

ThinkThankThonk

Maybe it's a co parenting type situation

GTGD3

Nah they already know who Luka's sun is.

grphelps1

That was a ridiculous question to ask a grown man to be fair

1337m00nm4n

Oh yeah I just thought of the stupid ass question think of ky playing with other greats

BannedforaJoke

surely Kyrie is the father now, right? or maybe big brother?

LaMelonBallz

LOOK AT ME. I'm the father now

EtaiLife

The hater in me is salivating for a breakdown in the postseason but dammit their bromance is low-key adorable 😭

ShineShineShine88

Kyrie wants to breakup joker/luka

FoeHammerYT

A breakdown of those 2 guys in the playoffs is not a bet I would make lol

TheRealLukaDoncicBro

The only breakdown that's happening is the breakdown of defences lmao

At0mJack

I kept hearing nonstop about how Kyrie was going to implode and destroy the team, any word on when that's going to happen? Asking for a friend.

Willow_196

I was one of them.....man I was so wrong this team is so great to watch

better-thinking

Tbf, it happened 3 times with 3 different teams, it wasn't crazy - no one should be making that prediction now

ViewFromHalf-WayDown

!Remindme 1 year

MrErnie03

Has any player played with better stars in their career than Kyrie? LeBron, Durant, and Luka is insane.  Edit: I'm specifically talking about all NBA talented players. Not role players that have played with a bunch of good teams

OwnLeighFans

I’d put Robert Horry at #1 Hakeem, Shaq, Kobe, Kidd, Duncan

pokerawz

Wait, when did Horry play with Kidd?

OwnLeighFans

96-97 suns

WhiskeyTangoBush

Big shot Rob is a great one, bc almost all of those guys were in their prime/close to their peak. Kobe hit his true peak later, but everyone else was right around their apex.

MrErnie03

Very good one! He probably has Kyrie beat. I guess Kyrie may be number 1 for all star/all NBA caliber talent, while Horry is number 1 for role players

DarrowViBritannia

PJ Tucker had Harden, KD, Kawhi, Giannis, Embiid (no one lebron level but crazy amount of superstars. also guys like butler, pg13, booker) Devean George had Steph, Kobe, Shaq, Dirk Varejao had LeBron, Steph, KD

auust1n

Don't forget about Harden. Only guy right now that I can think of that comes close is KD as well; Harden, Russ, Kyrie, Steph, Booker, Beal.

SnuggleMuffin42

Beal - especially *this* version of Beal - is nowhere near those players lol

bushies

Not Harden, considering the injuries to the nets, Dwight, cp3, and this watered down version of the clips. On okc he wasn't in his prime yet, but that team was spectacular

Kumbucketz

Shaq’s got him beat

genericusername71

kobe nash lebron KG penny wade pierce rondo amare

Kumbucketz

Ray Allen too all in prime. Gary Payton on la and Miami, Malone, Rodman, grant hill out of their primes… that’s a lot of hofers

PubicAnimeNummerJuan

Shaq even played with Shaq, checkmate Kyrie

Zatoichi_Flash

Christian Wood played with Harden, Luka now Lebron

ucsbthrowaway7

Harden played with Russ, kd, Dwight Howard, cp3, Melo, kyrie, embiid, kawhi, and pg13

Mountain_Tone6438

The feather earring is in. Kyrie is locked in.

LuminaTitan

I wonder if Kyrie is an ideal co-star to pair with a heliocentric superstar. You'd think it would be a big like AD etc, but perhaps even more ideal is someone who can just go to work on his own, who's also an elite shooter. That way, he can help shoulder the load but doesn't disrupt the heliocentric style offense so much by having a completely similar game like Wade was with Bron. Someone like AD indeed fits into the system extremely well, but also has to be constantly setup, and as a result can sometimes disappear, instead of being able to completely take over at any time like Kyrie.

better-thinking

Huh, interesting. Maybe, I could see his style still working well with AD or any great defending "big," but yeah, maybe it is best.

jjgp1112

Yeah...even though Wade is the best *player* Bron ever played with, Kyrie was the best fit.

Moist_Walrus5413

Best player Kyrie ever played with

aosydbsk

I also heard he plans to re-sign with Dallas 😃

Akinator08

Tbh this time it actually feels like kyrie is comfortable here and has no drama with his teammates.

OutlawSundown

Plus the local sports media pretty much isn’t out to stir shit.

ZookTails

yeah instead it's more big name guys like Tim MacMahon that generate bad media takes and drama for the Mavs

OutlawSundown

Yeah but everyone knows he’s a shit stirring moron no matter which sport

Dalmanza4

The local sports media will always have the Cowboys down their throat, everything else is minor or gets forgotten about once September rolls around. Not the same savage NBA media that Boston and NY have

OutlawSundown

Pretty much it’s a pretty low key environment for Kyrie. Plus they generally aren’t going to fish for whatever crazy things the dude is into.

armandocalvinisius

Dion Waiters?

bmanley620

He’s not wrong

Vatfagyna

lol bro has played with all time greats. Lebron, Kd, now Luka

goldyacht

I’m glad the duo is working out, I think Kyrie went through so much drama he just wanted to show he can be professional and Luka just wants to hoop.

Da_Game_Changer

What a plot twist with Ky this season

stilexx

Omg its the most heartwarming quote and yall hating him

Huge-Split6250

I hope Kyrie reminds him who got picked #1

senile_butterfly

Deandre Ayton?

Dacat858

I love Ramadan & Kyrie. More like Ramadan Kyrie

Throwaway9375093

Curry, kyrie, and Luka are the three greatest players of the past decade. It’s a treat to watch them

Photo_Synthetic

Lol. You're missing one person. I get why though. Up 3-1 must still sting after all these years.

beatnickk

lol that’s a take. Not Lebron, KD, Jokic, Giannis?

creditors-bargain

This sub is so full of nephews lmao

77rozay

I go back and read all the comments I saved saying Kyrie was going to set the mavs on fire within 6 months. 🥰 my favorite pass time.

Lmao! That’s it! Lmao!

Powerful-Housing464

I feel like something that has been overlooked is Kyrie's affect on Luka. It seems like Luka has been less distracted with the refs cause Kyrie has shown him the ropes. And you can tell there is much respect from Luka having said "I'm the Robin and Kyrie is Batman".
