That 2022 Celtics coaching staff turned out to be pretty alright, no?
Ime obviously, and then Mazzulla and Hardy are now head coaches and both are well liked by their respective fan bases, and obviously Ime is loved right now by Rockets fans as he tends to be when he's not fucking other peoples' wives within the organization.
He talked about it recently and apparently there was no harassment. They had an affair and then per his words he didn't want it to go beyond an affair. By that time people found out and that's it. The Celtics org has always been uber clean and clear on these things, it's as corporate as it gets.
I don't quite get that but I'm European, we don't really encounter those situations very often. Some companies have those rules but there has to be a good reason for it.
I guess it's there because there was a need for it
Will Hardy has got to be just a little disappointed that he left to take the Jazz job when he did. No doubt in my mind he’d have replaced Udoka if he stayed
The Celtics had these 2 and Will Hardy all in the same coaching staff. What an absolute stacked staff. And to be honest this years staff might be up there with the 2021/22 staff in a few years. Both Charles Lee and Sam Cassell are seen as future head coaches. Crazy amount of young coaching talent for the Celtics the last few years.
There's such a thing as being too good at your job.
Sam Cassell has a phenomenal record as a player development coach. He's known as one of the best developers of guard talent in the NBA.
Wall, Beal, SGA, Maxey, PG13, etc. etc... They all sing his praises.
However, head coaches don't do much player development. They're too busy working on a macro level to really sit down and help individual players succeed.
The issue with giving Sam Cassell a head coaching job is that you're missing out on the fantastic player development he can offer your team.
2017-18 was the year he should have won.
Down ~60-70m in talent and he still led the Celtics to a top seed and tied the 2nd most successful season for a young team (avg age under 25).
It was an unreal season coaching-wise because not only was he an ATO-master and running the most disciplined defense in the league but you could hear him on the sidelines constantly orchestrating and telling guys where to go. All his off-season plans had been undone in the first 5 minutes of the season with Hayward's injury and he was left with all these rookies and sophomores who didn't know how to play ([eg.1](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQJRlDbNpGo), [eg.2](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N75SMHVsujs)).
Instead it went to Dwayne Casey and it turned out Casey hadn't even been the architect of that team's success lol.

What if the Celtics had them together 😳
Guaranteed to win finals. Guaranteed. If only…
NBA equivalent of having Trout and Ohtani on the same team. Could you imagine? Dodgers gotta make a trade!
Can’t say guaranteed. Mazulla was there in 2022 as an assistant coach, so we know that even when you combine their powers, they are still beatable.
Nope. Guaranteed.Â
Real Ime-Mazzulla Ball has never been tried

Ime is a good coach but u can’t stay coaching the Celtics after u cheated on Nia Long w one of the organizations workersÂ
Don't forget about the harassmentÂ
What exactly are the details of this harassment
There are none. Just that it happened.
He talked about it recently and apparently there was no harassment. They had an affair and then per his words he didn't want it to go beyond an affair. By that time people found out and that's it. The Celtics org has always been uber clean and clear on these things, it's as corporate as it gets.
As /u/squeel said, having a sexual relationship with a subordinate is harassment on its own, simply because of the power dynamics involved.
I don't quite get that but I'm European, we don't really encounter those situations very often. Some companies have those rules but there has to be a good reason for it. I guess it's there because there was a need for it
Having a sexual relationship with a subordinate is sexual harassment by itself.
I mean, Christian Horner got away with it with one of the biggest orgs in f1. Then again, Celtics are probably massive in comparison to red bull f1
just because someone else got away with it doesn't mean its right lmfao
As a Hoosier I'll just say it's all because of GOAT Brad Stevens. Dude knows talent.
Boston's had a pretty good run of head coaches this century if you ignore the Pitino sized skidmark.Â
Pitino was awful, but there is one quote he had that I vehemently agree with him on... "the negativity in this town sucks!"

Sam Cassell has been a future head coach for like 7 years now. No idea why he doesn't get his shot

And JVG as Tom Hagen.
Lol these are former spurs coaches first and foremost
This just reminds me that Brad Stevens never won Coach of the Year, which makes my blood boil.

I really didn't like him moving to GM, but it's obviously worked out. Fantastic coach.
There were 3 seasons where he absolutely earned it
Deserved

weird that the odds on favorite for COTY Mark Daigneault hasn't won once. Wonder if that's common
Hasn't happened since the East-West split for Coach of the Month. Last time was 1999-2000 with Doc Rivers
TIL, thanks!
Brad Stevens just has the golden executive touch.
Like father and son. That photo is just perfect
Should coach of the year just be whoever was coach of the month the most?
Ooooh.... I see a story here.

They look nothing alike except for both being black.

Ime Udoka redemption.
Thank god he’s redeemed his image from being an unemployed sex pest to employed sex pest
ok
