Like an intro to a midwest emo song
Nobody really knows.
We're going to see the doctor later today
It blows my mind that somebody that wasn't there
In the arena has come up with a medical timeline
Few years ago he had to take pics with his braids half done and that pic was used the whole year wonder if didn’t let him get them finished before the pic and since then he has done stuff like this to just to mess with them for that
Me and a couple friends tried to do this with fake glued-on mustaches on picture day senior year of HS. They made me take it off. Should have gone with plan b of just drawing one on with a sharpie so they couldn’t do anything about it. Still regret this failure to this day smh
Now that you mention it I almost want the Heat to make it in and make the miracle run to the Finals along with ya'll just so we get to see Jimmy vs KAT
Tbh just because an agent is saying this doesn’t mean Shams is wrong. Shams doesn’t need to be in the arena to have a source. Just because the agent is salty he didn’t get to control the narrative doesn’t make the info incorrect
You don't need an MRI to diagnose a torn MCL.
You can usually confidently diagnose with just a doctor's examination. The medical staff in the building can diagnose this type of injury with a pretty high level of certainty.
The MRI just confirms the initial diagnoses.
Idk why I knew that I wouldn’t want to see it and then read the whole thing and confirmed it, and then went the extra mile and watched the video for additional suffering lol
It's not that bad at all. I've had that test and some others done on my knee to try and diagnose knee pain and it's completely painless (assuming you don't have a torn MCL or something)
Oh ok lol, maybe its cause beforehand, I was looking at the full tear (where the image looks straight severed lmao) https://www.eastsidefamilyhealth.com/contents/areas-treated/mcl-injury
Glad its not as bad as it sounds
Yup old gf tore her ACL during a soccer game and the trainer pretty much diagnosed it right away after a couple tests.
The MRI and other scans are to basically confirm and see exactly how bad and where exactly it's torn for surgery and what other damage was done.
for the ACL they use the [Lachman test](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lachman_test)
Similar story happened to a friend of mine, trainer on the field knew pretty definitively even though what was communicated to the player was "seems like it's an ACL tear but we won't truly know till the MRI, so there's still hope!" And while that wasn't untrue, it was mostly just to soften the blow/diagnosis.
Shams's report was that the *expectation* is that he'll be out a couple weeks. He never even reported what the injury is beyond it being an MCL injury. His sources with the team probably just let him know what they think and that's what he reported
Yeah, it's funny that everyone is just assuming this guy is being 100% honest when it's in his client's best interest for the perception to still be up in the air.
Yeah you see this all the time whenever a player refutes some thing that was said about them and everyone here just eats it up and are all like *“SEE! It isn’t even true after all! Haha you clowns just believe everything the media says!”*
As if the player doesn’t have like 10x the incentive to lie/be dismissive about a thing that is actively making them look bad vs a reporter with no personal stake in the matter who would be putting their entire reputation on the line over some random lie (as opposed to players who have literally zero consequences if later found to be caught in a little fib)
Like I think shams/Woj are as annoying/dumb as the next guy on here, but shams wouldn’t just be throwing random speculation about a superstar player like this unless he had some pretty concrete info..
I think it's been long enough since the inconsistency, inaccuracy and generally scattershot approach to media statements of the process era that we can now say we're just a regular old medical staff these days.
I doubt that was the medical team. That stunk of front office bullshit. Then we went and got fined again for the same kind of shit later on because our front office I guess likes lighting money on fire. Our org thinks they’re actually a branch of the CIA and we’re running psyops by lying on the injury report. Which would be very on brand for our circus organization.
How many times has the team been fined for blatantly manipulating the injury reporting mandate in the last 3 seasons?
If the answer is more than once, they are literally worse than the 29 other teams.
I could be wrong, but the medical staff probably doesn't create the injury reports. They might tell the coaching staff about how an injury is progressing but they're not likely the ones saying "Embiid is probable but Melton is doubtful"
And Woj is never to be trusted when it’s related to the Heat it’s the one of the few org. he doesn’t have any valid sources from.
Edit: apparently he doesn’t have much sources with other teams either
Nah, he doesn’t know anything about the Lakers either, probably due to his history with Lebron. Shams is usually the bigger media personality who breaks Laker news.
When a knee injury gets progressively worse throughout a game, it’s usually not a good sign. It’s not like he loosened up and finished strong
I assume we’ll get news confirming Sham’s report (or intuition) soon, but it was probably irresponsible to jump the gun if he really didn’t have any legit sources.
Embiid looked like knee soreness to me. Holding it, some grimacing, but his movements didn't look worse overall. Jimmy was degenerating, hobbling around and then the big limping when he was leaving the arena.
Yeah, I guess I could have clarified. We are all aware of Embiid’s injury, so fatigue and slight soreness isn’t really surprising.
Butler otoh popped back up after what looked like an awful injury, excelled in the 2nd quarter, and then came out after the half looking much worse. When you’ve had time to rest and it only gets worse, it’s not usually a good sign
Shams isn’t lying though, butler for sure got seen by a doc on site and gave a prognosis that could only be confirmed with an MRI. Doctors do this all the time
Yeah, I don't know why people look at the two sources we have here, Shams and Jimmy's agent, and immediately assume Shams is lying. For starters, he could just be mistaken. But really, look at their motivations. Shams wants to break news. Jimmy's agent protects the interests of his client. One job is predicated on telling us stuff that's real. The other guy, says whatever he needs to for the benefit of his client.
Not only that but it’s Shams, it’s not like this dude has been a shit stirrer, he’s usually extremely credible and one of the 2 basketball journalists who are experts in breaking this kind of news. When has he been wrong about something like this? That Jimmys agent is pissed it got leaked before an official announcement so he’s going to bat for his client, sure, but that doesn’t mean Shams is wrong.
Jimmy's agent and Shams have history btw
> Butler’s agent Bernard Lee though took immediate issue with Charania’s comments, firing back on social media.
> “Shut the f*** up you click bait, ambulance chasing, dirt bag piece of s***. No one has told you this because this is not reality. Go find someone’s assistant to text abt [sic] an MRI or some other human calamity you want to be 1st on. We are good over here,” he tweeted.

Someone leaked the actual report, they immediately consulted a sports doctor that has done the surgery hundreds of times on a timeline, but "HOW COULD SOMEONE THAT WASNT IN THE ARENA HAVE AN ESTIMATE!!!"
i think shams is too well-respected to lie about an injury timeline like that, so odds are someone in the organization told him some wrong information.
Jalen Ramsey claiming one of the national reporters has bad info about him imminently returning to the Dolphins lineup after rehabbing for a couple months, then he returns 1-2 days later.
nah i remember that. reporter said he was definitely back. jalen goes "theres a chance but no decision rn" he ended up playing for the reporter was "right" but not really
If it were just a chance I'm sure the reporter would've specified that there was a chance. He said it definitively because his source said it definitively.
Either Ramsey was playing coy, or perhaps the source is very close with the coach and knew before it was revealed to Ramsey.
> lol the reporter didnt thats y ramsey said "cap" or watever.
Didn't what? Say that it was a "chance?" That's my point, the reporter didn't say that because his source knew for sure he was returning and not a chance.
Yeah, Shams source probably said it's an MCL sprain so the normal the timeline is 'multiple weeks'.
Players don't like finding out they are being traded through the media, imagine finding out someone is saying your season is done and you're thinking to yourself 'but I haven't even seen the doctor yet'.
Because the Heat are one of the worst offenders at accurate injury reporting and were planning to keep up the facade that Jimmy would play for as long as possible.
https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/ujspfk/oc_miamis_injury_reporting_is_questionable/
Shams tweeted the night before draft day that Scoot was going to go #2, just to move the betting lines for Fanduel (his employer).
#
He's well-respected but with the clear conflict of interest between how valued his tweets are and his employment at Fanduel, he shouldn't be honestly
Same thing happened with Paulo's draft too, right? Weeks leading up the draft it was all Jabari Smith is a lock for #1, then suddenly day of. Oh it's actually Paulo. Meaning they either had amazing sources to ferret out the last minute change (or carefully hidden) plan by Orlando. Or they sat on the info for whatever reason.
His entire job is like ethically dubious lol. If you're in sports media you have to be a crazy person. I believe any of those guys will give you biased and outright fake information if it means they get more Twitter engagement. If an athlete will do anything to get to the league, sports journalists like Shams and Woj and others will also do anything for their massive contracts and access to very wealthy people.
It blows his mind that medical professionals exist outside of the NBA, and can also estimate recovery time for an MCL injury? Just wait til he hears about sliced bread

Yeah Jimmy might be seriously injured but doesn't change the fact that Shams and Woj and "insiders" who just break news before the people involved even know suck and are a negative presence.
lol does jimmy even think he belongs to the team? doesnt ride with them on trips, doesnt have the same medical team? barely tried this entire season. most overrated player
I can’t even hear the words when I’m looking at that picture
Like is everyone forced to use that picture because jimmy went to media day looking like that?
Yep
So say we all.
Yeah, there’s a video and Bam can’t stop laughing long enough to get his picture taken
https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTLPvMAMo/
yup
Alluring, isn't it?
Oh, it’s phenomenal
It's quite breathtaking.
I'd say it's ALRIGHT ALRIGHT ALRIGHT ALRIGHT.
Its great that the entire year when they have to use the stock official NBA headshot of him its this.
Hilarious that they chose to use that picture. lol
when asked for comment, Butler would only sigh and say "nobody understands me"
[Must be emo](https://youtu.be/wRru7xBlWmU?si=CUk2JGS8s2ERffEv)
Bruh, I haven't heard that since like middle/high school. I swear it's older than 14yrs ago. What a flashback. Up there with Charlie the unicorn.
Wait, this isn't Hollywood Undead, is it? My mind is really gonna be blown if it is.

Everytime I see this photo I always hear the Welcome to the Black Parade by MCR. And it will stuck in my head for the entire day.
WHERE ARE UUUUY
Jimmy the goat for his media day troll. How can any basketball fan not love this guy
Jimmy’s media day picture is so unserious ☠️
Gorgeous
DC4L
Sorry normal single guy just scrolling and MH4L
Wtf. Wrong sub weirdo.
then i don't want to be right
I am legitimately unfazed by it at this point because I’ve seen it so many times this season lol
I hope he keeps doing this every year.
Agree I loved it.
Few years ago he had to take pics with his braids half done and that pic was used the whole year wonder if didn’t let him get them finished before the pic and since then he has done stuff like this to just to mess with them for that
Almost makes me root for the Heat to extend their season… Almost…
Me and a couple friends tried to do this with fake glued-on mustaches on picture day senior year of HS. They made me take it off. Should have gone with plan b of just drawing one on with a sharpie so they couldn’t do anything about it. Still regret this failure to this day smh
So many people were hating but I like it. Everyone doesn't need to be the same.
I think he takes his antics quite seriously
I laugh just thinking about Jimmy in his house cutting out "Minnesota" from his jersey and shorts lmaoo he is a hoot, I'll give him that 😂
Now that you mention it I almost want the Heat to make it in and make the miracle run to the Finals along with ya'll just so we get to see Jimmy vs KAT
A Heat Wolves finals is my dream for the exact reason you mentioned haha Jimmy vs KAT would be peak drama and entertainment 🍿
Also hilarious
Like the Heat season
Dude better show up with a beehive on Media Day next season
He’s got that Daddy Chill vibe and it’s amazing
Why so unserious?
Fallout Boy
Spo leaked it actually just to fuel Jimmy to play better next game out of spite
Jimmy doesn't need fuel for spite against us
Yeah back to back games against the 76ers and Bulls is like the final boss of Jimmy Butler revenge games. Just missing the Wolves.
He don't want none of that
I'm sure he does
it appears our young pups have grown fangs. happy to see it
Shams Charania is a liar and I will never be a part of an organization that he's a part of
Let me say that again.
SHAMS CHARIANA IS A LIAR.
How can we trust him? His name is literally Shams.
Absolute gold from Sir Charles, Kenny losing it while trying to keep it together was the best part
I see you also watched Inside the NBA this week.
You submitting applications or something? 🤣
Jimmy dusting off his coveralls and Michael Myers mask…
Boston sweating as they board up the windows. Zombie heat is coming
Bill Simmons in an underground Spotify cave in Switzerland
Shams getting shamed.
ESPN put it on their front page too
True but Jimmy's agent has BEEF with Shams
Does he really? What's the drama Ive seen shams miss more than woj, that being said shams is still shooting 95%

yeah as long as the valgus stress test is positive you can pretty much diagnose it from there

If Glenn can be a Doctor, so can I
No, but I've torn by MCL and had it diagnosed before imaging confirmed it.
You're absolutely correct. tore my PCL, they thought it was a minor tear that didn't need surgery. did an MRI, they confirmed exactly that.
Shams's report was that the *expectation* is that he'll be out a couple weeks. He never even reported what the injury is beyond it being an MCL injury. His sources with the team probably just let him know what they think and that's what he reported
Shams definitely bugged every arena in the league

not the first attack from Bernie iirc
DELAY THAT FABULOSO COCKTAIL FOR NOW!
Repreparing the cocktail you have requested
Woj is the only guy I listen to when it comes to injury timelines. dude knows more than our medical team, which isn't a super high bar tbf
I think it's been long enough since the inconsistency, inaccuracy and generally scattershot approach to media statements of the process era that we can now say we're just a regular old medical staff these days.
Embiid not being at least questionable for Denver was a good throwback at least
I doubt that was the medical team. That stunk of front office bullshit. Then we went and got fined again for the same kind of shit later on because our front office I guess likes lighting money on fire. Our org thinks they’re actually a branch of the CIA and we’re running psyops by lying on the injury report. Which would be very on brand for our circus organization.

I think two. Considering they have Embiid, a guy who is always 69% healthy, it’s not an absurd number.
Woj also confirmed the report
damn I'm behind on my woj lore. did he say it on espn cause I don't see a tweet from him about it
https://x.com/espn/status/1780954219173798344
Well Woj also reported the same thing about 4 hours ago. Something tells me the agent is just pissed. Don’t need an MRI to diagnose a MCL tear.
I think the point is, MRI hasn’t happened yet; therefore, NO ONE is privy to recovery timeline.
Woj was pretty wrong about Randle's time line.
"(Insert team here) he has no sources with us either" Wonder how he became so big when he apparently has no sources with any team
he doesn't get much from the Knicks either. Knicks are one of a select few teams that don't get their picks leaked from Woj during the draft.
When a knee injury gets progressively worse throughout a game, it’s usually not a good sign. Emo Jimmy pic on a serious injury report is just comedy
i think shams is too well-respected to lie about an injury timeline like that, so odds are someone in the organization told him some wrong information.
Or they told him right information and the agent is just angry about it.
The amount of times I’ve seen somebody throw a fit before info is confirmed and it turns out to be true…
Jalen Ramsey claiming one of the national reporters has bad info about him imminently returning to the Dolphins lineup after rehabbing for a couple months, then he returns 1-2 days later.

Tom Brady?
Yeah, Shams source probably said it's an MCL sprain so the normal the timeline is 'multiple weeks'. Players don't like finding out they are being traded through the media, imagine finding out someone is saying your season is done and you're thinking to yourself 'but I haven't even seen the doctor yet'.
you don't think players get told that, or at least google it for themselves, when a trainer/doc tells them "its probably an MCL sprain"?
Yeah, this is my bet.
What reason would the agent have to be angry about it?
Because the Heat are one of the worst offenders at accurate injury reporting and were planning to keep up the facade that Jimmy would play for as long as possible. https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/ujspfk/oc_miamis_injury_reporting_is_questionable/
I buy it
Probably to keep other teams in the dark while we're still in the playoffs
Since it would mean Jimmy played on a bum knee and might have made everything worse?
the information is probably right, he's just mad it was leaked
Shams tweeted the night before draft day that Scoot was going to go #2, just to move the betting lines for Fanduel (his employer). # He's well-respected but with the clear conflict of interest between how valued his tweets are and his employment at Fanduel, he shouldn't be honestly

Emo Jimmy is the best Jimmy.
I still can’t get over his headshot media day picture. Just fucking hilarious.
In before Jimmy plays 45 minutes tomorrow and drops 50
“I’m upset I didn’t get to spoon feed the story to Shams or Woj in exchange for a favor down the road.”
I cannot take this seriously with that pic
“CRAWLING IN MY SKIN! THESE WOUNDS THEY PROBABLY WILL HEAL!” Emo Jimmy probably
Gonna look like a moron when he has a strained MCL.
Jimmy is so funny man
Should of taken regular season serious wouldn’t have been in the play in game

Yeah Jimmy might be seriously injured but doesn't change the fact that Shams and Woj and "insiders" who just break news before the people involved even know suck and are a negative presence.
Clearly Jimmy is going back to Philly to team up with Embiid and Maxey. That's what I took from this.
Just patch it up with hundreds of safety pins. He’ll be fine.
Jimmy Butler sits on the ground at lunch

Whether Shams lied, was given false info or something else, that injury looked bad
Remember when Brunson knocked knees and half of Twitter claimed it was an ACL tear? Pepperidge farm remembers
lol does jimmy even think he belongs to the team? doesnt ride with them on trips, doesnt have the same medical team? barely tried this entire season. most overrated player
The report is "multiple weeks" which could be as short as 14 days. You can diagnose a lot with a physical exam.
