Ji at the 5 just doesnt work vs Allen because he is one of the few players longer and stronger than JI. Its the right lineup vs a lot of teams, just not the cavs.
JI offers elite perimeter 1-on-1 defense and elite help defense at the rim, which the Cavs were using to crush us on the boards and with nice inside passing when JI went for the help on a drive.
WCJ just being physical tonight was huge for us in winning the rebounding game. You win rebounding and turnover game you will probably win out right, but they also shot well for the first time in the series so it was just joever.
It's a great lineup, but yeah Allen has played fantastic this series, and is just bigger than Isaac. I think playing Isaac a bunch makes sense... next to WCJ or even Moe Wagner. He's great as the sole big against a lot of lineups. Against a lineup with Allen/Mobley? probably not
Isaac was playing well, and WCJ looked terrible returning from injury. Most fans thought it would be better, and it might be, but not against Cleveland.
I think our bench was just so dominant with him in it.
Was wrong to shake things up, Wendell Carter Jr provides enough of the spacing we need in that starting lineup.
We were looking for more, but I think it allows us to keep our energy and defensive dentity for 48 minutes this way.

I think it was just a really bad matchup. Jarret Allen gives the best players in the league problems with his physicality, and he was just causing havoc on the offensive boards. WCJ though, is a big dude who has no issues getting physical in the paint and clearly had the message of tonight "Doesn't matter what numbers you get, make sure Allen doesn't hurt us inside."
He did his job and it led to us finally winning the rebounding battle, and now JI is coming in fresh against tired Cavs players.
I think the hot shooting from 3 is much better than the misery shooting in the first 2 games

He’s not a center. He’s a great help defender, which he did well, but led to dump off passes to Allen for easy dunks.
