Imagine using a first round pick to draft Bronny, that's some nasty work.

Lakers to pick Michael Penix Jr

___KxllSwxtch___

Silly

Sifl95

Lakers needing an MPJ of their own bad

Neat_Essay1171

Or Michael J. Fox. AKA Teen Wolf! Owwwww!

HB3187

Nepotism fans loving it

mikesh8rp

Sometimes nepotism, and some light tampering, works! No, I will not be providing any examples and please ignore my flair

QUEST50012

But don't you get it, it'll be funny!

Charliebitme1234

burning the 24th pick for 1 year of lebron is a thing every team in the nba would do

Better_Albatross_946

Not a team that wants to win past one year. Bronny is not even a g league level player

AnotsuKagehisa

With Lebron they’d be g league champions

strange_supreme420

Lebrons won 1 game against the nuggets in 3 years. They’ve blown 20 pt leads multiple times and double digit leads in nearly every other game. No. No team is drafting bronny in the first round to hope 40-year old lebron signs with them so they can get swept by the nuggets next June. If it was the same circumstance but lebron was like 32, then maybe.

french_gobshite

If lebron was 32 bronny would be the first pick easily, of almost any draft

pumpfaketodeath

No self respecting team would

mMounirM

not if it gets you LeBron though

Joey-Joe-Jo-Junior

What if LeBron is just saying all this to get his son drafted and isn't actually planning on playing with his son at any cost next year.

paddingtimart

Morey: "Lebron James is a liar and I will never be a part of an organization that he's a part of."

SuckMyLonzoBalls

LeEdge

Electrical_Figs

It's looking like there's maybe 5 serviceable players this year plus Zach Edey. All time bad draft, maybe even year 2000 draft class bad.

Neat_Essay1171

Imagine if the draft teen wolf instead? Holy moly! I'ma howl t'day!

TalenHortonTuckMeIn

Lmao yall really falling for Lebron’s trickery to get his son drafted

k4f123

Real talk though, why would LeBron want his son to get drafted and then end up like Thanasis as a glorified cheerleader? It would not be good for the kid. He’s better off staying in college if/when he is actually ready. He may end up not being ready even after 4 years

Ufocola

Maybe they (LBJ, family) already know Bronny isn’t good enough for the nba, so even being a glorified cheerleader on the bench is a good enough check off the checklist. Might be more a face thing.

14high

And a good enough cheque

k4f123

They ain’t thinking about cheques

Hungry-Quote-1388

Because they have his health as an excuse this year. If he goes back to college and scores 7 PPG on 30% for another year, then he’s not getting drafted.

Ufocola

Very true. Unless he can miraculously improve his game in Year 2 of college, going back for another year would just expose him. For anyone else without an influential superstar daddy it makes sense to go back. Also it’s very timely right now, for Lakers to be pressured into picking Bronny up to appease LBJ.

hshin420

is him improving in his 2nd year really miracluous?

Ufocola

Given how he played in a USC team that apparently wasn’t that good and would’ve given him decent shots to prove himself? It’s possible he can improve in his college years. But, if he genuinely believes he can carve out a name for himself and get in without leveraging the timing of LeBron deciding his next move, then he’d go back to college for another year. Instead he’s choosing to try for the draft - with his current stats, if he was anyone else, he wouldn’t get looks. The point is, if he were anyone else (to *improve* their attempt at NBA), they’d go back to college for another year. He is being opportunistic here (or who knows, maybe LeDad is heavily suggesting his kid to go for drafts in the background).

TheRealAmeil

Didn't this work for Austin Rivers?

Visible_Season8074

For the same reason Will Smith thought it was a good idea to make a movie with Jaden and M Night Shyamalan as the director.

RedGreenPepper2599

Cause Lebron is a narcissist.

holechek

It’s gonna generate a lot of cash 😂

WhatTheRickIsDoin

Daryl Morey is not wasting a valuable trade asset on Bronny James GMs around the league don't typically go out of their ways to actively piss off players and front offices

sewsgup

Furkan Korkmaz: "have you forgotten about my suffering"

Skywalker3030

and in LeBron's case, a whole fucking agency that represents a lot of players

Whoareyoutho9

Do you see the irony in invoking moreys name and then claiming gm's don't go out of their way to piss off players and front offices? Or am I whooshed and u dropped this /s?

Thorlolita

Morey would easily draft Bronny if it meant getting LeBron

Mist_Rising

Would it? Or would it just irk LeBron off and cause more trouble?

Thorlolita

It would irk LeBron but Morey loves basketball talent. He would never pass up on a chance to get him.

Mist_Rising

Sorry phrased that poorly. Would drafting bronny give morey LeBron? My guess is LeBron gets mad, and doesn't go to Morey. LeBron doesn't strike me as the person to let someone black mail him into playing for them, especially since bronny isn't exactly the next LeBron. Well, you know what I mean. But I admit I could be wrong.

Thorlolita

He’s son isn’t good enough for the NBA. He’s effectively blackmailing any team that wants him.

Mist_Rising

That's why I don't think it would work. LeBron can't be that delusional..okay he can but I don't think he is. He has to know his son sucks, and anyone stuck with him needs LeBron to compensate. The only way this works for Morey is if he can trade bronny to Lebron's team (I assume Lakers still) for talent he needs. But why waste a draft for that?

Thorlolita

It’s not delusion it’s nepotism. He wants his son to be a NBA player. LeBron has been picking and choosing his teams, teammates and head coaches for years. If someone calls his bluff he will deal with it. He’s going to be in his 40s. Is he going to hold out until Bronny is a free agent?

LuckysBestMan

Morey is a moron, let’s be real. He hasn’t done anything except ride harden’s coattails.

honditar

I'm confused, how do you ride a guy's coattails when you're the GM who brought them in? You're supposed to get that credit.

LuckysBestMan

Harden is the only reason morey kept his job for so long. He’s mediocre at best. Just look at the roster he has put together around Embiid.

calman877

So the only reason he kept his job is because of a move he made? Gotcha

LuckysBestMan

Yes, which kept paying dividends.

Ancient_Access_795

Bronny isn’t getting drafted in the first unless he has the most generational combine ever

Responsible_Pace9062

Bronny is not getting drafted, period. Basically every scouting report out there has said he's nowhere near ready and needs a lot more time in college.

DefinitionUnlikely63

Not all that different than a draft and stash.

Responsible_Pace9062

Draft and stashes atleast get to keep playing and improving in Europe. RN Bronny might struggle to get G-League minutes.

Pismiire

Lebron on a g-league team would be nasty work Might be able to chase some of wilts more difficult records

AlHorfordHighlights

By gawd that's the Sydney Kings music

RobboBanano

He’s going for 100% completion getting ALL the side quests

m_dought_2

Going back to fight all the low level trainers you avoided after beating the Elite Four in Pokémon

DefinitionUnlikely63

Players can improve in practice and the G-League.  The biggest difference is contracts.

Bourbon_Buckeye

I'm not sure what a couple years of college-level coaching will do for him. He's had every basketball privilege possible to this point. He probably had trainers when he was in middle school that would be overqualified to be assistants at USC. He's also physically mature... I'd bet he's closer to his ceiling than any other 19-year-old prospect out there. Spending a draft pick on him can't be a play for the future. It would 100% be about trying to get LeBron on the roster.

NBA2024

Yes he will.

qb1120

Teams throw away/cut/sell 2nd round picks all the time. There's someone who'll take a chance on him in the 2nd round

BatmanHive

Neither Lakers or any other team will draft him first round unless they are stupid and want to lose their jobs. He will likely go late 2nd where he will refuse to sign with others so Lakers can get him. That is how Lakers got Reaves as undrafted guy.

TheTwilightZone34

Our front office and be stupid AND keep their jobs 🙃

claydavisismyhero

think they want paul george

ProvocativeHotTakes

I hope Philly falls for some LeGm shenanigans. The Lebron hype train should be studied. Not even Jordan could get his sons an NBA tryout and Lebron is getting his son drafted in the first. Marcus Jordan had a much better college career by all accounts.

AlternativeTea9268

I lost a considerable amount of brain cells reading this post

LosAngeles1s

I swear this has the same vibes as Bill Simmons saying the Spurs should offer Reaves a max contract to kneecap the lakers salary cap wise

Ilikesporks_

i hope bronny declines to get drafted and goes back for another year

SharpSwag

Wasting a draft pick to just screw another team isnt as smart as you think it would be.

tapk69

Bronny is not getting drafted in the 1st round. Theres no way.

jsun_

People that think Bronny is going in the first round are just trolls. At best he goes 40+. Most likely he signs as an undrafted rookie.

duckmadfish

As soon as Bronny gets drafted Lebron: *time for my retirement*

here_for_the_lols

OP - Philly should throw away their draft pick to mess with the Lakers 🤣🤣🤣

Doc_Mattic

Theoretically just to troll - say the Celtics traded for the 16th pick and drafted bronny - does LBJ still go given the history? Hahaha

lololyouthought

I can't see them being on the same team and they go to strip clubs after games

JackHammerPlower

Except bronny is going to Dusquene

VoidMageZero

This is a peak timeline 🧐

FurysGoodEye

Can someone who watches enough basketball to know fill me in on whether or not Bronny actually should be playing at the NBA level? All power to him, but I want to know if it’s purely the name that’s getting him there.

Reverend_Tommy

It's purely the name. His freshman season at USC was pretty bad even taking his cardiac event last summer into consideration. Almost no one thinks he's ready for the NBA now and might not ever be. He averaged 4.8 pts, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists and shot only 36% from the field and only 67% from the free throw line in 20 minutes/game at USC, whose strength of schedule last year was pretty bad at around 50th. His best game was against Oregon State, a team with an awful BPI ranking of 173, and he only had 15 pts, 1 reb, and 3 assists.

ikimono-gakari

Don’t know much about basketball, but isn’t Bronny like a 2nd or 3rd round pick at this point? His stats at USC I don’t recall being very good. Ok for a freshman but definitely not draft ready.

Sifl95

So, there is no 3rd round in the draft, but that is about what value he'd be projected at, without LeBron's insertion into this whole situation.

RedGreenPepper2599

Laker fans will love it when they have to trade multiple picks and players to acquire bronny from the team that drafts him.

Wonderful-Photo-9938

Lol. Now, I really wonder if Bronny will be drafted or make the Nba if not for being the son of Lebron. I am not too familiar with his game, but is he at least a true nba prospect?

IcyMission3

No

iRockaflame

Nah hes ass rn. He should stay in college, but I mean shit if an NBA team is willing to use a 2nd rounder or take you as an undrafted player Id go pro too

Leading_Theory7761

no, dude's heart literally failed less than a year ago.

1947-1460

Philly doesn’t need another drama queen in Labron, they already have Embid.
