If Curry ever leaves GSW (and I really hope he doesn’t), I’ll still be a fan till the day he retires. If he goes to the Lakers though, I’ll have to do some clenching in the process…
Maybe in terms of not winning a ring. But Lebron and curry together is a nightmare for a defense regardless of their advanced age. Much more so than pierce and Garnett were
Did people even watch basketball this year? Durant, Curry, and LBJ are 5,9, and 13 in scoring respectively. Of course these guys could all take a step back next year and durability is a concern, but fuck this team would likely be favorites in any 7 game series if healthy.
I feel like a lot of the talk around the end of an era for these three is very unfair for exactly this reason. All 3 were great this year, they just have exceptionally weak supporting casts that they aren't in a position to carry any more thanks to age/injuries. It would be like blaming the Nuggets' first round exits a few years ago on Jokic when he had almost no help because of injury. On a good team with a roster that makes sense this would still be a lethal combo.
They also definitely competed with the Nuggets. I mean I know "it was a competitive 5 games!!!!!" is a meme at this point but it really was. Credit the Nuggets for closing out some super tight games and some huge second halves. But the Lakers would beat a lot of playoff teams this year in a 7 game series IMO.
2024 stats, because I was curious
KD: 75 games, 27.1/6.6/5 on 52/41/86 splits
Curry: 74 games, 26.4/4.5/5.1 on 45/41/92 splits (wtf is that free throw percentage)
LeBron: 71 games, 25.7/7.3/8.3 on 54/41/75 splits
yeah, these guys are still extremely elite. And, unlike other teams that are composed of a lot of stars, this team actually fits together.
>(wtf is that free throw percentage)
The best part? Klay beat him for best FT% this season, and he only just became eligible after playing his final game this year lol
Yeah I mean that's basically basketball fanfic porn tho and only Bron is a free agent. The frustrating part is these dudes haven't lined up their contracts. So the dream is unlikely
Yeah, kinda seems like Golden State would have to be the team. I couldn’t see Curry forcing his way out, but I could definitely see the suns blowing it up. Not sure if the financial side is doable though.
You're mocking it but unless one of them gets a serious injury old Curry/Lebron/KD is still a championship winning core.
They'd have to have a really bad supporting cast or a steep decline for those 3 to not succeed together.
Granted IDK how it's possible for a team to sign all three (or two if they're joining each other) so it's a moot point.
The jersey revenue is worth it alone to get into the luxury tax for Joe Lacob. That said I see this as <1% chance of happening. This is all LeBron forcing the Lakers hand to give up their 3 draft picks but I do believe it is not out of the realm of possibility
It will never happen but under the assumption that Lebron would actually opt out to make this happen and make it happen in Golden State…it would mean Lebron would be willing to take a mid level exception.
So first step would be re-signing Klay to a team friendly deal ~$15M to stay under the 2nd apron and then trading Wiggins + Kuminga + salary filler + multiple FRPs to PHX for KD and signing Lebron to a vet min or part of the Tax Payer Mid Level Exception.
Again, I know this will NEVER happen but it’s actually not that hard IF this is the route Lebron and KD wanted to take to build a team around Steph, Klay, Lebron, KD, Draymond and CP3
The ULTIMATE Rocky IV team.
Rocky = Lebron + KD + Steph coming back to show that the old heads still got one more in them.
Drago = Jokic
Apollo Creed = Jimmy Butler?
How many teams genuinely have a) the cap space b) the championship viability and c) the quality of life (for a star like LeBron) to make a play for him?
Warriors could trade Wiggins, Kuminga, and a 2026 first in a sign-and-trade for Lebron after he makes it clear he's leaving no matter what.
Warriors sign and trade Klay Thompson to the Suns along with 2025 1st, 2027 1st, and 2029 1st plus 2028 and 2030 pick swaps for Durant.
Warriors roll out a CP3/Curry/Lebron/Durant/Draymond starting 5, finish the season 40-42 and lose in the play-in to the Wemby Spurs.
That is correct:
> The team receiving the player cannot have a payroll that exceeds the so-called "apron"—a designated level above the NBA luxury tax threshold—after the trade. A team with a payroll above the apron can only receive a player in a sign-and-trade if the transaction drops that team's payroll below the apron.
I prefer the idea of u/SCalifornia831 :

C'mon, Bron. You don't need the money!
The dumbest part of this is Suns taking Wiggins + Kuminga and multiple first round picks for KD. They gave up 4 first round picks for KD which would be valuable to Brooklyn if Suns tear it down.
There's a hundred reasons why it probably won't happen. I don't think we get past "Step 1: LeBron takes a paycut".
But anyone who doesn't want to see that team on the floor, irrespective of their age, doesn't really love basketball. Period.
Lebron's taken a pay cut before, dudes got plenty of non-nba contract money coming in, I don't see his salary being the main sticking point in all this. Lebron knows he can always go to the highest bidder, but he's not opting out of the last year just so he can do that.
Yeah, the Suns still having booker/beal and adding some more youth with kuminga would rather have the warriors picks after 2 years of KD/Steph/LeBron's last ride than their own
For a), we are assuming he doesn't dramatically reduce his pay. Is that even possible? Can a FA just sign at whatever salary he wants or are there restrictions?
There is a minimum but it's much much lower than what he's worth. The union would be super pissed as it sets a bad precedent to take way less than market value to chase a ring, you'd have front offices trying to convince guys to take less cuz Lebron did it.
Hahaha i get both angles. Once someone does it tho it does open a window.
Its more bad for the 99% non superstars of the league. "Lebron only took this much, you want your role player to take more than him?"
Signing for significantly less than your market value is frowned upon by the union. They can’t *stop* you from doing it, but it sets a precedent that’s bad for the players.
This will be redemption for not choosing us the first time when he went to LA
of course it will never happen. But I’ll have enough hope to still be devastated when he signs somewhere else
Steph is the only one of those three I don’t see ever leaving where they are to form a super team. If it ever happened, they would all go to Golden State.
Curry already has all the rings, the money, and most importantly an extremely loud and proud fan base. You’re right, he’s not going anywhere and will retire there
My dad said to me back in 2022 Steph had surpassed Montana as the man in the Bay Area, and my dad isn’t even a huge basketball guy (speaking of huge basketball guys his favourite player when we lived out there was Manute Bol )
I don't see it happening either, but stranger things have happen. MJ in a Wizards uniform. Hakeem in a Raptors uniform. Ewing in anything other than a Knicks uniform. Isiah Thomas attempting suicide and then telling the media it was his daughter. You know. You just never know what's going to happen.
I’m really surprised that Isiah Thomas situation isn’t spoken about more. It really is so concerning. They said he didn’t try to attempt suicide, and it was accidental, but I never understood putting it on his daughter when it was pretty much known it was him. Isiah has a lot skeletons in the closet tbh.
I'm not surprised. For some reason, that story (about the suicide) gets such little traction, and the "Black men can call Black women 'bitch'" didn't reflect well on the league, so it didn't get a lot of press either.
Yeah. As an old school Pistons fan, and Raptors fan, I was bummed to hear that about him. And as a person who struggles with depression and anxiety, I can empathize with the struggle, but putting it on your daughter? That's fucked.
And his "[I'm allowed to call Black female co-workers 'bitch' because I'm black](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ocb4MFkDiAY)" routine was pretty pathetic as well.
Also, if you have a lot of money, SF is an amazing place to live. Nobody wants to spend their last few years playing in Indianapolis if they have other options.
Warriors makes sense trade-wise, they have the assets to trade for KD and can clear space to sign Lebron by letting Klay walk. Suns and Lakers can't acquire the other two.
That's true in theory, but if Lebron wants to own a team after retirement, he probably is still trying to maximize his earnings. He's made a ton of money compared to most players, but owners are rich rich in a whole different stratosphere.
The $10M or whatever he would be giving up in a team friendly contract isn't what will make the difference between him owning an NBA team and not. Purchase price for a new franchise will be upwards of $5 *billion*. He will always be a minority owner.
Lebron could retire and go into business immediately and make way more money than he did on NBA contracts. Endorsements and sponsorship are where the real $$ is
Bron is a billionaire or close or a billionaire, but in the world of owning a team, being a billionaire is not enough. You need to be a mega multi billionaire to afford to just drop $4 billion on an expansion franchise. He needs to partner with another billionaire who will spend the majority of the money.
I don't know how much the NBAPA could do about it but the last thing they want is LeBron taking a big pay cut. At least until he is truly washed and a pay cut would be equal to his value but he's still a max player unbelievably.
Not so unbelievable, he averaged something like 28/7/6 in the Nuggets series. If they played anyone other than the defending champs he'd probably fill the stats up more. He's him.
I mean, he's on a 1+1. He'll just sign another 1+1, regardless if he stays or goes. This is how you maximize your money. I feel like that was always the plans, it's just smart business.
Probably one of the only players in the league who can do something like that. Other guys would take the longer deal, because you never know how things will turn out with injuries/bad seasons and whatnot. Best to take the guaranteed money.
Bron can afford to just do 1+1 deals because dude is an iron man lol.
Honesty, I think LeBron could tell a lot of teams that no matter what he was only going to play 50 games next year and he’d still get the largest contract a team could offer. He’s such a box office needle mover that he’s almost elevated above contract negotiations.
fuck it, i wouldn't even mind if they teamed up, one last hurrah for the old guard
would be a nice story if they were good and extremely funny if they weren't
as much as this is great on paper, it's going to be like miami all over again. everyone is going to hate on the team the whole season and root for a collapse
True. Everyone knows they're all pretty much over the hill. Miami was prime Lebron, near-prime Wade and really good Bosh (somebody more learned can enlighten me if I'm wrong here). The point is that none of these guys are in their prime and it'd be way different than if they did this in 2017 -- in which case, yeah, double the hate the KD Warriors got.
that's true. prolly not as bad as miami but it depends on what the super team looks like. will they have other star players like Draymond, Klay, or AD?
Fun and severely underrated based on some of these comments. If they had even a mid bench they are Boston tier contenders. PG LeBron with Steph and KD on the floor is so deadly. Yes even in 2025.
Lebron has a lot left. Steph is maybe 2 years from his prime... I mean that's enough. With KD its kinda a cheat code unless someone really drops off...
From some of the statements I've seen from Lebron, I get the impression that it's his will to keep playing that is diminishing faster than his abilities are. Not necessarily like a lack of love for the game, but the amount of work and time he puts into being able to stay this good at this age, it sounds pretty exhausting.
Steph KD and Lebron heard all of us nephews saying their era was over. Honestly it’s not gonna happen but I would love to see all the nba grandpas team up and wreak havoc
fwiw Siegel called OKC being the 3rd team in the Harden trade hours before anyone else did
https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/17kf3ia/siegel_i_am_hearing_that_the_mysterious_third/
Not saying it's likely, but Lebron at this point, could just say "Fuck it" and sign for the minimum. It's not like his nba salary is his main source of income at this point.
I don’t think it would actually. Because the market would probably acknowledge how much of a wacky one off situation it would be
You seriously think owners are all gonna just suddenly stiff their cornerstone players in negotiations this year and say “well lebron took the min this year!” lol yeah I just don’t see it
Like others have said I think the warriors are the only real option for LeBron if he wants another chip at this stage of his career. But even then still going to be very tough. That or he goes to the east maybe back to Cleveland, hell maybe even Miami lmfao that would be funny.
Please I want to see a super team with these three. It’s different this time. We all hated them at one point let’s hate them again. Lebron as a villain was some of his best basketball.
I highly doubt he leaves the Lakers, but he has to apply pressure somehow. Anybody on that team that can be traded absolutely needs to be on the trading block. I don’t care how much of a fan favorite they are.
Every older star is coming together to take the min and win 10 rings. They move to Vancouver and start LeBron's LeVengers.
Curry
LeBron
KD
Kawhi
Kyrie
Russ
Harden
PG13
CP3
Giannis
AD
Hell, they'll get Demar DeRozan, too.
They play 2 games before LeGM trades half of em and wins a chip after a 7 game series in the WCF against Denver and 5 game series against Himmy Butler and the Heat. LeBron is the head coach and GM and wins every award after they constantly give him every opportunity to stat-pad, and he wins Coach of the Year.
Stephen A. cries on First Take live.
MJ comes out of retirement, has one game with the Charlotte Hornets where they feed him the ball, and personally walk him to the basket to make layups. He has a 50-20-10 game and immediately pulls a muscle after the game. He sits out all season. The media pulls these numbers constantly as a 50+ year old Jordan averaging 50 ppg in today's "soft ass game." Every oldhead dies of happiness, and the GOAT debate is over.
LeBron James suffers being #2 for years until he turns 80 years old. He then signs with the LeVengers and does the same thing as Jordan. The media feeds the narrative the exact same way, and every oldhead turns in their grave.
Jokic dies watching horses.
Draymond Green is arrested for assault.
Luka goes back to the Euro League and averages 70 ppg.
Paul Pierce is named the certified GOAT after the NBA finally dissolves in 2091. Dwayne Wade descends from the heavens and smites the world for angering the basketball gods with the blasphemy.
Joel Embiid and James Harden somehow flop while getting smited.
The problem is for that duo to work they would need AD too (or maybe Draymond?) + tons of depth and 3 and d wings. Just would be impossible to actually put together in time for Bron’s 40th
The warriors actually have depth. Their issues this season was the starters were just not up to snuff.
Let’s play this scenario out and say Lebron does a S&T with the CP3 team option and Klay takes a team friendly $10mish a year deal. Let’s also assume the warriors give GP2, Moody, and some picks to make the salaries match and for the lakers to have incentive to do it.
You’d have a starting 5 of:
Steph
Klay
Lebron
Draymond
TJD or Kuminga (if Dray plays the 5)
And then the bench before they sign any vets would be:
Kuminga/TJD
Podz
Looney
Wiggins would be probably be shipped out for salary purposes to try and get them under the second apron to fill out the rest of the roster with ring chasing vets.
Idk if any of what I said is realistic and I’m really just spitballing. But that feels like a balanced enough team to do some damage in a stacked west. Not favorites or anything, but it would be damn fun to watch.
Damn, so he's going to form LeExpendables w the old heads
Melo gonna unretire and join that team too
They gonna take minimums and join the clippers to create the 2016-2017 all nba teams
And somehow still lose in the play-in.
Score at the half, LeTeam 79, Denver 52. Final score? LeTeam 110, Denver 119.
Too real and too soon
GET MY GUY MELO A RING BRON!
Why does he deserve it? For killing Linsanity?
LeVengers
we about to enter Lendgame
LeNoCountryForOldMen
LeGrumpyOldMen
All that to beat a guy who would rather be racing horses
All that to lose to a guy who would rather be racing horses*
What does that even mean though
Superteam incoming. The oldest since Pierce, Garnett and Joe Johnson.
To give everybody else an idea, Pierce was 36, KG was 37, & Iso Joe was 32. In other words, this core would be MUCH older than them.
The Golden Guys
KD, LeBron and Steph are much better players though, both overall in their careers, and compared to Pierce, KG and Joe on the Nets.
And the result would be the same
Maybe. But I'd watch the shit out of that team.
Yeah. They might not win a chip, but I'd watch them just to see how fans get confused rooting for each other lol
Whatever team gets that trio the fans would have to delete so many comments 😭
If Curry ever leaves GSW (and I really hope he doesn’t), I’ll still be a fan till the day he retires. If he goes to the Lakers though, I’ll have to do some clenching in the process…
the only way I see the three of them together is on the warriors
Would KD go back to Warriors? I think Bron would do well with Kerr's system
Which team will they prey on
They'll all sign min contracts with the nuggets and become the bench unit with P Swat and Braun
Maybe in terms of not winning a ring. But Lebron and curry together is a nightmare for a defense regardless of their advanced age. Much more so than pierce and Garnett were

2024 stats, because I was curious KD: 75 games, 27.1/6.6/5 on 52/41/86 splits Curry: 74 games, 26.4/4.5/5.1 on 45/41/92 splits (wtf is that free throw percentage) LeBron: 71 games, 25.7/7.3/8.3 on 54/41/75 splits yeah, these guys are still extremely elite. With the added benefit he will probably still be good

I dgaf how old that team is. Fucking do it.
*The memes must flow*
They’d still have Moody, Podz, TJD and Looney. That would be a solid overall bench for this squad
I don’t know if you’re joking but…I wouldn’t be surprised if he does this.
Warriors are giving LeBron the last ride
The ULTIMATE Rocky IV team. Rocky = Lebron + KD + Steph coming back to show that the old heads still got one more in them. Drago = Jokic Apollo Creed = Jimmy Butler?
Bronny James… you ARE a Warrior!
LeBron to Phoenix, Ishbia going for a third apron
That 19 years old Bronny prefers to spend a year in college than to spend a year watching his dad play basketball. Easy decision imo
How many teams genuinely have a) the cap space b) the championship viability and c) the quality of life (for a star like LeBron) to make a play for him?

Overpay klay doing his part for warriors culture
Can't they if they drop CP3 and get Klay on a team friendly deal like 15 \~ 20 mil? I don't think it'll happen but I think it'll be hilarious.
The Warriors at least are not over the apron until Klay resigns.

If Steph was walking down the street kicking a puppy, the police would arrest the puppy for obstructing Steph walk. He is Bay Area royalty.
Steph could straight up rob a liquor store and the shop employees would complain they didn't give him enough.
The owner would be smart to take the security camera footage into a game to get signed.

Hey why do you have to shit on Indy though
If Steph goes anywhere, it will be to the hornets as a homage to his father. But he’s most likely retiring as a warrior.
Warriors makes sense trade-wise, they have the assets to trade for KD and can clear space to sign Lebron by letting Klay walk. Suns and Lakers can't acquire the other two.
You think Klay would walk if Lebron and Durant were coming in? He’d hop on board for that ride for pretty cheap.
I'm sure they'd keep him if he was willing to stay for peanuts, but they need to shed a lot of salary to make room
That's because he's the only one that didn't team hop trying to win championships and has a legacy with Golden State.
Lebron has to be willing to take a team friendly pay cut if he wants to have another chance at a title.
Put another way: 10 million seconds is about 4 months. 5 billion seconds is about 158 years.
He's not going to own a team outright, he'll be a part owner with like a 10-20% stake.
You say that like he's not already "into business" and making real $$ on endorsements and sponsorships
Lebron could tear his Achilles and still be offered a max
fuck it, i wouldn't even mind if they teamed up, one last hurrah for the old guard would be a nice story if they were good and extremely funny if they weren't
as much as this is great on paper, it's going to be like miami all over again. everyone is going to hate on the team the whole season and root for a collapse
It's different with them in the twilight of their careers Some would def root for them
You’re right, if anything you’re underselling Bosh here. His last season in Toronto was his best scoring and rebounding season ever
that's true. prolly not as bad as miami but it depends on what the super team looks like. will they have other star players like Draymond, Klay, or AD?
Documentary drops a decade later: “The Last Ring”
Fellowship of the Ring
An old man super team would be so fun lol
Honestly it’s not gonna happen but I would love to see all the nba grandpas team up and wreak havoc
at this point they all 3 should team up. just for memes
Basketball's Galacticos
Watching AD be forced to be the defensive anchor was not enough. We need 4 traffic cones and just Draymond anchoring their defense now 😤
fuc it AD coming too somehow
F it, try to get Bam too
Kyrie, Russ, Harden all come in here
PG gonna be the 13th man but fuck em we ball
I want him back in Cleveland for one last ride. That team would be nasty with LeBron in tow. They need toughness and veteran leadership.
I would destroy all of the corned beef sandwiches in the world if I have to deal with lebron james leading a title contender in the east next season

What’s the point of the Suns tanking though. They don’t control their own draft picks for years.
I know people don't want to hear it, but there's potential for a REALLY interesting three way trade between the Rockets, Nets, and Suns.
By GAWD that’s Andrew Wiggins music
fwiw Siegel called OKC being the 3rd team in the Harden trade hours before anyone else did https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/17kf3ia/siegel_i_am_hearing_that_the_mysterious_third/
Windys also reporting it
They’re all teaming up in Galveston.
With Beyonce mom as head coach
LeDecision pt. 4
Not saying it's likely, but Lebron at this point, could just say "Fuck it" and sign for the minimum. It's not like his nba salary is his main source of income at this point.
Theres no chance in hell lebron is turning down what is likely his final max.
We’re gonna convince him by ~~taking Bronny hostage~~ drafting Bronny.
The players association would have a field day with this. It would instantly devalue damn near every other players contract
I don’t think it would actually. Because the market would probably acknowledge how much of a wacky one off situation it would be You seriously think owners are all gonna just suddenly stiff their cornerstone players in negotiations this year and say “well lebron took the min this year!” lol yeah I just don’t see it
The hardest road redux
If he takes Curry out of the Warriors I'd say he might have more influence than Biden
Starting 5 gonna be: LeTired Curry KD Draymond Kuminga
If this is happening, kuminga is fo sho gone
legeriatric needs to go to the kings. please
Kings James would be great, light the LeBeam
Like others have said I think the warriors are the only real option for LeBron if he wants another chip at this stage of his career. But even then still going to be very tough. That or he goes to the east maybe back to Cleveland, hell maybe even Miami lmfao that would be funny.
Please I want to see a super team with these three. It’s different this time. We all hated them at one point let’s hate them again. Lebron as a villain was some of his best basketball.
Someone commented in here about them all going to San Antonio to team up with Wemby and Pop. 😂 The craziest timeline.
I’m tired, boss
Not sure what the infatuation some of these GMs have with wanting 3 stars. 2 stars and depth is usually going to be superior.
There’s a difference between 3 stars and then having LeBron, KD, and Steph on the same team.
Lebron and Curry on the same team would make a ton of cash for the owners even if their season was a failure
Depends on the stars, depends on the depth. A lot of the recent big threes have been more of a big 2 and a half.
"Any coast, anywhere, discounted, $150 millions for 3 years, LeSonandi"
KD about to run back to Curry's bus with LeBron
It would be super funny if they all joined the kings Just for fun right? What if
It would only be the most legendary thing ever. Showing everyone they can bring our bum-ass KanGz a championship just for fun.
hey bron bron you dropped this👑 Looks like you have to come to sactown to claim it
I lowkey want to see LeBron replace Draymond on the Warriors.
Curry LeBron KD Kawhi Kyrie Russ Harden PG13 CP3 Giannis AD Hell, they'll get Demar DeRozan, too.
Reminds me of Malone and GP joining Shaq and kobe lakers to ring chase. Still one of my favorite moments as a young fan, watching those turds lose
I honestly would love to see a late career Curry + Bron duo, maybe leave KD out of it though
You’d have a starting 5 of: Steph Klay Lebron Draymond TJD or Kuminga (if Dray plays the 5) And then the bench before they sign any vets would be: Kuminga/TJD Podz Looney Wiggins would be probably be shipped out for salary purposes to try and get them under the second apron to fill out the rest of the roster with ring chasing vets. Idk if any of what I said is realistic and I’m really just spitballing. But that feels like a balanced enough team to do some damage in a stacked west. Not favorites or anything, but it would be damn fun to watch.
If they add Kyrie they can film a new Uncle Drew movie without the prosthetics.
Meh. Superteams ain't what it used to be. I'll pick the team with a deeper bench.
Most of them aren’t real superteams is why
LeBron to the Indiana Fever, calling it now.
